February will be here before you know it, which means it's almost Valentine's Day again! This year we want you to make a Spiral Knights themed Valentine that can be given to anyone.

General Format:

The Valentine must have three things:

- A cheesy, Spiral Knights themed line. Groan-worthy puns are welcome. For example, "I think of you knight and day."
- A "TO:" field, left blank.
- A "FROM: field, also left blank.

Deadline: February 11, 2015, 11:59 PM Game Time (Pacific time zone)

Prizes: Three (3) winners from each of the two entry categories will be able to pick between a forever love puppy mask, a love aura, heart eyes, or specify which monster pocket you want (chroma whelp, love puppy, hoptimer, or mewkat). The winner(s) in Category 2 will also receive an additional mystery Valentine's prize. Other prizes may be added depending on participation.

Category 1: Paper and Crayon

1 - Obtain a sheet of white paper and some crayons.
2 - With the crayons, create your Spiral Knights Valentine on the sheet of paper.
3 - Make sure your entry displays the name of your knight and February 14, 2015 somewhere on your Valentine.
4 - Scan or photograph, and upload the image(s) of your Valentine on a website that allows you to link to it. For example: deviantArt, Tumblr, or Imgur

Category 2: Knock Yourself Out

In this category, it's a free-for-all! You may submit poetry, macaroni art, drawings, prose, animated gifs of your own making, whatever. Pour forth your feels and create a masterwork.* Once you have done so:

1 - For art and video, upload your entry to a website which allows you to link to it, such as YouTube, deviantArt, Tumblr, or Imgur. For written entries, you may paste the text into the body of your entry post.
2 - Make sure your entry displays the name of your knight and February 14, 2015. This can be done using an index card or small sign if it can't be added to the Valentine itself.
3 - Submit your entry in this thread: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/107815

Judging Criteria:
Judging will be based on creativity, execution, and the earnestness of your feels. Judges will also take into consideration the quality of the photo/scan submitted. Be sure your Valentine is in focus!

*But please keep it clean--no Rule 34 or anything else that would violate the Forum Rules.

- You may enter more than once, but only one entry per knight will be awarded a prize. You may enter each category, but you may only win in one category.

It may seem like an obvious question but I'd prefer to make sure before I do post.

Wow. It's been a year since the last Valentines Day contest...

I love that you can enter multiple times in the same or both categories. That soothes some tension about creating the "perfect" entry. I've gotten better at drawing since last year and now I have a scanner! This is gonna be a blast!

I don't know for sure, but it seems that in the entry form you actually put the name of the knight your winnings will be sent to. As for using content that does not belong to you, so long as its not plagiarism and as long as you don't violate any copyright laws it will be fine. Since this content isn't for monetary profit and it's being "remixed" then fair use laws/etc should apply. Even if you do technically violate copyright laws I doubt anything will happen.

@Sauccee There is not a way to log into the forums with an Armor Games account. On your event entry, you just need to post the name of your knight where you want the prize delivered.

Also, your entry for this event needs to be something original that you create specifically for this event. You shouldn't use something that someone else created.

I assume this means I can't sneak a name and date onto an old picture I've made. Last year I went through the effort of making an adorable picture only to realize after finishing it it didn't qualify... But, well, that was my fault. Rules are a thing I should have read.

I mean, I have someone else I can draw up this year anyways...

Is a public link from Dropbox acceptable? I can use my deviantArt account, or Tumblr, if it isn't, so no worries! I use Dropbox when I take photographs from my iPhone and upload them via the Dropbox App, so that's why I was asking about that.

I will also assume, due to the nature of the place, that FurAffinity isn't an acceptable means of uploading our submission?

@Cyberpony A public dropbox link is fine - as long as we can see the image without having to go through a lot of clicks. You are correct - FurAffinity is not an acceptable place for posting entries to the event. Their content isn't filtered in a way that agrees with our forum rules.

I am fully aware that OOO is not homophobic (seriously, why would you be in a civilized world?) and I am also aware that some of the entries are just straight up better. Sometimes I hope people could see just how much ideas, heart and souls were invested into each and single of my art work, yes, my art work is not all that great, yes, sometimes my arts are simply quirky and weird. But still, efforts went into making them. I feel like getting all philosophical about the whole winner/loser thing and get everyone here as salty and as upset as me, but I know none of you here have the time for something like that so I will not discuss any further on the matter.

I know it's too late to change anything that happened, but I am just genuinely curious about one thing. Did my entry happen to be disqualified because the timestamp on my forum post says 12:51am on 2/12? I swear I submitted it around 11:51pm on 2/11 (before the deadline), so I'm not sure what happened. :s Again, not looking to change prize orders but it was something that bothered me.

Edit: Yeah, something weird definitely happened because dA timestamped my entry as Feb 11th. http://sta.sh/01pafmqf0noy dA also runs on PST. I guess this is what happens when I get sick and do things last minute, lol
