This is kinda just shooting in the dark here, but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for bombs in a side-scrolling game. Keep in mind that bombs will be throwable (and can therefor roll, etc.) and probably will injure the player as much as the enemies.
Just to show what exactly I mean...
- Spine Cone set will stick to walls/enemies before blowing up.
- BAB will blow up instantly when attacked. (Meaning I could snipe my own BAB)
- Irontech will have tons of HP and will almost never explode prematurely.
- Shard bombs will come in two varieties: shrapnel and scatter. Shrapnel works as old style, sending shards in multiple directions. This won't be broken like the old shards because of the way bomb physics work; enemies will push the bomb rather than clip through it.
- Scatter bombs will launch several smaller bombs which explode shortly afterward. The small bombs will always fly the same way, regardless of the original bomb's flight path. (i.e. they always go DOWN, meaning that they are best for non-flying targets)
No, I don't need help coming up with ideas. Just let me know if there is something you'd like to see. And obviously I'll take some measures to keep things balanced.
would BAB be a one use thing, stackable, or a limited stack?
(one bomb vs 30 bombs vs 5 bombs)
