Golden Slime Casino Discussion
Find Pink Coins.
Find Casino.
Spend Pink Coins.
Win Big.
Get Arrested for Illegal Casino Operations.
Get Banned From Spiral Knights.
Ignore the Last Two.
Oh I do hope it's something that happens for like, a week every month. Only having a crown sink like this show up twice a year wouldn't be too helpful.
Regardless, I'm excited to see what it has to offer!

Seems like it's just crx50 and heart prizes for now. As you can see, each pull requires one slime coin and, eyeballing it here, get you ~150 cr a pull on average. Maybe there are different ones or they'll add new prizes to the wheels?
So it seems there are multiple casino layouts, but what about the prizes Hariender? Are they all cr and hearts?
Prizes that I've seen are various levels of crown rewards.
Numbers I've seen: 50 crowns x2 x3 x4 x5 x6 x8 x10 x14 x20.
Hearts and hearts x2 are available in tier 2. These can be awarded while at full health.
Tier-appropriate vials are given too, and can be won while at full consumables but do not grant you any item in that case.
Someone else in my guild is reporting kleptolisks but I haven't seen any yet.
What's the use of the golden coins if you can just spend 200 crowns instead?
It seems like the machines have certain payouts per machine?
There's a kleptolisk "double or nothing" machine, in that it has 50crx8 or a kleptolisk as common rewards. Another machine has 50crx2 as a common rewards and varying levels of crowns after that. Other machines have hearts and crowns equally, and another has vials and crowns equally.
I have seen jackpot machines but no special item yet. However, I will say that I'm loving the care put into the design of the casinos. Royal Jelly bartender? Yes please!
50 crowns x 100 is also possible - http://imgur.com/YcRxIF4
Highest cr payout I've seen so far is 50 x 125: http://i.imgur.com/apoGVOv.png
The slot machines seem to vary slightly, and not every Casino seems to offer every machine. The first Casino I found had four machines: one for crowns, one for crowns/hearts, and two for crowns/items - but it didn't have the double-or-nothing machine.
The slot machine tooltip mentions reward items unique to the Casino itself. Wonder what those rewards are, and if it matters what kind of machine you're using...
Meh I don't like it at the moment, I would prefer if the slot machines also gave slots and boosters (rarely obv)
A real disappointment, do I buy coins to high price for this? I lost 500kcr and win like 2kcr .....
I had a feeling those who claimed to find casinos earlier and their 'loot' were just trolls. Glad I didn't spend much to get coins. @.@
Question for Cronus: Is there only CR machines down here? Because if so it really needs more to go with it. Honestly I wouldn't mind even being able to play mini-games of some kind like do an arena for free or something, honestly. It'd be interesting to watch too.

As mentioned in the release notes, prizes on the wheel may change at any time. You're welcome to offer suggestions for what you'd like to see. However please keep in mind that it doesn't mean we'd be able to implement it.
I think putting something universally useful like Sparks of Life and other rarities like Fire Crystals (dependent on depth) on the prize wheel would be a vast improvement, especially for newer players who don't have an overabundance of those.
Would LOVE Radiants on the prize wheel.
EDIT: I would also propose that crown rewards should be taken out of the prize wheel (save the uber-rare jackpot x100-x200) and replaced with coins for replays. At the moment, this GSC craze is serving as an effective crown sink. Playing the slot machines ultimately yields a net crown loss, but it still introduces crowns back into circulation, which defeats this purpose.
the special prizes for the casino machines, do they just mean hearts and pickups, or is there an actual special prize like some sort of accessory or costume? because so far nobody seems to have gotten anything like it.
Looks like there's an additional achievement too with an unknown description. Not sure what it's supposed to be achieved by - perhaps spinning a slot machine? I don't know.
I like the idea of sparks/fire crystals from the slot machines. The fire crystal star could depend on the depth you're at? Perhaps also an exceedingly rare chance of getting a random item (i.e. weapon, armor, etc.) from the wheel as well? It'd be cool if the star level for that was tied to depth too. xP

I object to the word "universally". Crowns are very useful to me, while Sparks of Life and Fire Crystals just pile up uselessly.
Really this is a good use for multiple machines: Have them be different in their good prizes (crowns, rarities, etc.) rather than their bad prizes (kleptolisk, freeze vial, etc.). Of course, balancing this would take some careful thought.
what we would like to see in the casino could probably fill a whole thread. personally, I dont care about the small stuff. what I would like to see is some rare items like a coin aura. possibly also reuse old items, like putting in gold items from steam and the now unobtainable (other by trading with other people) golden laurel. maybe add the unused gold dragon set too?
also, make the different machines distinguishable without first having to give them a few rolls.
You're welcome to offer suggestions for what you'd like to see
You shouldn't give me this power because my suggestions game is always around.
Lockboxes of all types and silver keys being on the prize wheel would be a good way to make people keep spinning.
Slot upgrades of both types could be "jackpot" items. Though I would still have them be a rarer one.
Slime coins themself as a slot reward would be nice, dropped in groups of 2 or more only.
All flavors of tokens might also be nice - excluding boss tokens. This means you can get forge sparks from the machine, or potentially even get an ancient page! We don't talk about how those got there...
Rarities of all kinda would be welcome as well!
Unique items would also be swell, however those may exist as it is so we just need to find them... Other than the whammie, that's just silly.
That's mildly disappointing, but overall it doesn't affect me much.
However, I'd like to point out that a Mewcat sitting at one of the tables said to me "Can I borrow your weapon?" Aside from the either fridge logic and/or brilliance of the fact I was using Acheron at the time, being asked for a sword in the middle of a casino is just a LITTLE disturbing. Just how bad was that Mewcat at poker? Or dragon poker, as the case might be?
With the release of the casino, I believe there are some new scenario rooms revealed(though I can't check because the wiki holds no images).
Question for Cronus
"Including unique items not available anywhere else!"
Are these unique slime-only items active yet, and if so what are they? I'd love to gamble and find out but that seems like a great way to get burned.
Suggestions for the wheel
I'm gonna be real with you. The wheel is really boring largely because I don't exactly have actual gambling issues for you to milk and just give you money so that you can make more gameplay and eat and pay rent and do whatever else you humans do to live. So perhaps you could make a nice trade-able prize that I can buy off of someone else so that I don't have to stand there in the casino gambling for 200 hours straight? Something that isn't 100% unique but is still slime casino themed that would be nice. I'm thinking cool gear reskins, meaning exactly 100% like the original in terms of function but now with cool sounds and pictures and whistles and bells.
If you're more open to ideas (like, open to actually implementing something) you could do something like...
1. Add unique slime themed gear pieces to the casino in lines... You'd get-
-The 2* for it, commonly in S3.
-The recipes up to 5*, at appropriate slime casinos. So 3* = S4, 4* = S5, 5* = S6
-Materials to craft it up, i.e. special materials.
-No one of these parts would be incredibly rare. All in all it would require a lot of gambling but never all or nothing.
2. Dead end players so that they can't just gamble forever.. You could win-
-A party-wide trip to the next floor!
-A one way ticket to Apocrea!
-A transfer to a different gate!
-The level being reset!
3. Totally unique reskins!
-Take a piece of costume/accessory and give it a random color scheme
-Force prismatic aspects to be of colors other than your knight's
4. Make players actually do something interactive besides press a button
-Teleport them to an arena and make them fight! Fights could include bosses (with tokens) etc.
-Open up new areas of the map
-Open up danger rooms for players
5. Handing out crowns is an umm.. "interesting" crown sink
-Hand out 1-3 slime coins instead! = more plays
-The various forge/primal/grim sparks would make nice placeholders
6. Encourage crafting with this?
-Hand out recipes for random gear, and bind them to the player.
-Orbs, fire crystals, stuff like that would also help this along.
-Entire weapons, especially with UVs would be huge
dont have any screenshots (thanks lenovo) but one of the rooms has nick and the royal jelly, nick is on a chair and mistakes you for a waiter, the royal jelly is the barman who starts making a joke and apparently just came back from moorcroft
edit: got the new achievement, it looks like all you have to do is roll a bunch of times, it still says ??? though
Anyone found an ideal place to grind for these Golden Slime Coins? I've been running Terminal Meltdown's first level for these, unsure if Tiers affect the drop rate for coins.
You can just use cr to spin, and based on what they've told us (read: Nothing), there's no advantage to using coins as opposed to paying 200cr per spin.
- Are these unique slime-only items active yet, and if so what are they? I'd love to gamble and find out but that seems like a great way to get burned.
There are currently (as of this second) no prizes that are unique on the wheel. As noted that can change. A lot will depend on feedback, how the casino does, specific events, and what resources we want to spend on the casino vs other items.
(note: I had to edit this because I found the little tooltip on the wheel. None of our announcements make any mention of these.)
@ Cronus
The "?" mark icon above "Spin the Wheel" mentions unique item rewards. See: http://i.imgur.com/kMofocH.png
Each spin of the wheel rewards you with a random prize, including unique items not available anywhere else! Requires one Golden Slime Coin or crowns if none are available.
In reply to GM Cronus I would probably suggest that you don't have anything temporary as a potential prize. Crowns are a good start but anything involving Vials, Vitapods, etc. would be best removed or added to their own independent lotto.
You already find a lot of the aforementioned items while exploring the clockworks it seems to be a bit of a letdown to find more of them.
I don't see the point of the coins if you can just use 200cr to spin, and I don't see the point of spinning the wheel if there aren't unique prizes (which a lot of us have already spent hours doing since the tooltip promised they existed).

I saw that right after hitting send. I edited my post :)
I would just like to say how wonderful this system is.
It is finally the solution to crazy Energy price fluctuations. With a good enough hook for the players, you can potentially lower the Energy price enough by having players put in their 200 crowns. Therefore, I present to you my suggestions:
- The current system feels very "vanilla" or basic. This is fine in my case and serves as a great taste of what's to come. We finally know how the casino works and whatnot. Now, the prizes. The prizes, as stated above, should be unique and not found anywhere else. That would be pretty darn interesting to see. I would prefer the rewards being accessories, for if they were weapons, they could potentially break the game's economy. For example, if we were able to obtain 5* weapons just by spinning the wheels, we would take advantage and drastically lower the worth of that certain 5* weapon.
...however,
if the odds of getting the 5* weapon or gear were to be low enough (1/10000 for example), that would be awesome. You could have those node slime weapons included perhaps, and maybe of colors not introduced in the slime prizebox we had. Remember that Regal Node Slime Wall that was found, and not included in the prize box? Stuff like that. Perhaps even Shadow or Prismatic Node Slime equipment. Things like that will not only hook players back for more, but the word of such amazing rewards would spread like wildfire throughout the community, and everyone will go and test their own luck in hopes of finding such jackpots.
Jagglypoof had a very fun idea. Maybe the prizes could be something CRAZY, like teleporting the party to Apocrea, or an arena, or something completely bizarre. Now that would be very cool. The hook would not only be to serve as a jackpot, but as fun. Simply glorious fun.
The idea itself is fantastic. The rewards at the moment are okay. Do know that when I was spinning just now, I spotted three 50 coin x200. Yes, x200. That's 10,000 coins. Now, if that reward were only to be replaced with something unique.
Include unique accessories. Slime scarf, slime costumes, slime this, slime that. Slime Mixmaster? Slime Faust? The chances should be ridiculously low, but it's worth a shot.
Sort of feels meh that you get all the casino's experience from one room and that's it.
If it's a limited time event it should be more or less sought after rather than overlooked. As of right now I'm having fun with the slots but I'm the same person who spent literally a minimum of 3 entire days farming the last black kat event, so amusing me doesn't take much.
It would be neat if every type of machine had a different sort of "grand prize". A good thing to use would be the contents of forge prize boxes (fire crystals, orbs, sparks of life, and UV tickets).
If we were to have entirely new wheels however, I would recommend having a "material" wheel, where prizes can have various materials as higher prizes. Another wheel may have something like a "jackpot" wheel, where you have a bunch of kleptolisks and extremely good jackpots at low odds. Something like shadow keys, prize boxes, etc. A "rarity wheel", where we get low star and single rarities for lower prizes, and higher star and numberous rarities for higher prizes. Imagine something like a single cracked fire crystal as a lower tier reward, 15 glowing fire crystals as a mid tier reward, and 25 radiant fire crystals for a high tier reward. I would play the wheel for that.
From the looks of it, people were spinning the wheel mostly for unique rewards. This casino would be a perfect time to implement an overcharged mixmaster into the game more naturally as a jackpot reward from stratum 6 casinos. If a "jackpot wheel" were implemented this would be a grand prize in it.
Oh and don't take our criticism the wrong way, we're just endgamererers or whatever you want to call it. We have all the stuffs but for newer players the event is pretty much set. Lets say you're doing jelly king and you find a bunch of these coins well you can redeem them for whatever the expected value is + some hearts, vials, whatever. That's a pretty sweet addition to the jelly kingdom rewards especially, and to add to that a bunch of T3 players like myself are going to flock there for that little bit of extra something because lets face it there's no reason not to do that. Generally a good little event to stir the pot a bit, it's just missing the big get.
Turns out you can dash and shield bash while in a slot machine.
Turns out the jackpots are when you are AWAY from the slots. There's a deeper meaning to this somewhere.
I highly doubt they'd make jackpots based on your distance from the slot machine
I totally agree with Inaquandary.
@Cronus:
The Casino will only be around through the 31st, so spend your Golden Slime Coins while you can.
- Don’t worry knights. The slimes can’t stay away from Lady Luck too long and the Casino will return at some point in the future.
I'd like to know if the casino is intended to be transiently available by default (similar to how Nonna comes and goes), or if by "return at some point" that means it will be permanently randomly-encounter-able from then onward, after this sort of "testing/feedback" phase. While editing the wiki about it, I didn't realize how much this was biasing what I put in, wording-wise, until I thought "hey, this might not be the case."
I see Fangel has similar concerns.
Thanks :)
They currently don't show up in the chat logs when picked up, or on the end-of-level/mission report screen. Can we expect this to change in the near future?
Since it doesn't seem to immediately trigger if you get a jackpot (I got it when it landed on a heart), I'm willing to bet (yeah, betting, ha, 10kcr, any takers‽) that it's based on just doing a certain amount of plays
EDIT: Also a friend of mine thinks that the slime coins aren't reported since they're based on the crown entity, which also doesn't report as a drop. This would explain why they can come out wherever crowns can come out, such as lamps
Please let us be able to actually sit in the free chairs.
You have no idea of how much I want this.

Golden Slime Coins can drop from lamps? I've been hacking a lot of plants, and I've never seen a GSC drop from them.

It will work more like Nonna, and will come and go. You can earn and collect Golden Slime Coins even when the Casino is taking a break. When it makes a return, you'll hopefully have a nice pile to redeem.

That would be adorable (personal opinion). Unfortunately I have no idea if that would even be possible.
A very rare chance of some kind of accessory or Costume (Not Grand Toppers and whatnot). Maybe some new stuff, Casino exclusive stuff. Also another very rare chance for "Guaranteed UV Tickets" which could give you a certain UV (Any kind of UVs, sometimes you get lucky with an ASI VH one lol) which you just take to Punch and get a specific UV. These tickets could be tradeable, which can help standardize a price for UVs.
This stuff can't be like 1% drop though, it's gotta be WAYYYYYY less, like Darkfang Shield rarity so it doesn't overload the market with expensive items.
I would also love a chance to get past prize boxes (everything back to Surge) with the same chances as the other UV Tickets and special Accessories.
OOORRRRRRR... you could just have a Casino Prize Box in there that has these kind of things in it, like:
.5% chance to get the Casino Prize Box (or maybe even less)
And then inside the box it could be like a Surprize Box with some other crap added in like:
.5 or 1% chance to get some special Casino exclusive Aura/Costume/Weapon/Whatever
5-10% chance of getting Guaranteed UV Tickets (all kinds of them...as it becomes Higher like High, VH, High, Max then they become less common)
The rest of the chance would be getting a past prize box (every single kind of Prize box, excluding Hallow and Frosty and Anniversary of course)
This wheel has the same trouble as usual prize wheel, i can see reward before it ends to spin. Also i got barrier on the wheel, but i didn't have it in my full inventory and got nothing. It looks like Estavio (Vials Merchant) is owner of casino, but i want Brinks(Token Trader) or even Kozma.
First.
