Make Treasure Vaults Worth It

Treasure Vaults almost always give less crowns and heat than the other levels (graveyard and whatever else there is). You stay there for almost no time at all, and the crown reward in the hallways are low, even on stratum 2, 4, and (well, I'm guessing 6, but I haven't been there). I think four things could change:

Treasure boxes: I've seen before the suggestion of a third treasure box, maybe blue or gold, which are even more likely to drop an item, token, or larger amounts of coins and heat. Maybe a few rarer boxes tossed around the level, but only a few.

Enemies: The enemies would have to be a special kind though, because Treasure Vaults are sort of like a break from the rest of the clockworks. My idea for an enemy is similar to the moneybag enemies in the 3D mario games (64, Galaxy, etc.). They run from the knights when seen, and can hit the knight (for medium damage, so there's still some risk) if they get too close. When killed though, they would explode in crowns and heat. There would also only be a few of these, about the same amount as those Kleptolisks.

Crowns: The crowns in the halls should almost never be the coins worth only one crown. Maybe at depths 1-3, but eventually they should change based on the level, to eventually being worth ten every time (and occasionally 25).

Area: The area could be bigger, or, even better, have special gates to get to the boxes. I like puzzle gates, and there aren't enough in the game that are actually difficult. I think there should be more puzzley stuff in the Treasure Vault. This wouldn't add to the amount of the reward, but it makes the reward more... rewarding.

In summary, all of these would add to the crowns, heat, and the fun of getting into a Treasure Vault. Another thing it would do would add to the time spent there. Doing puzzles, tracking down the moneybag enemies, and finding all of the blue boxes (Which would be around the level or behind puzzles, not in groups). Another thing is that even though it sound like it might be too much, the amount could be changed to at least make the crown amount on par with the levels around it. How much do you think this would have to be changed? Do you think this is a good idea?

There's a reason why they didn't make it worth it.you risk to get more.it's a lower chance of getting grave yard than treasure vault.it's just chances.lower the chance of a room =more profit.

but thats beside the point, its a treasure vault, it should contain lots of prizes. Hell, if you want it to be more challenging, give it booby traps, or, a completely different style all together like (if anyone's played Borderland's 3rd expansion pack, you should get the referance im making here) a time limit and a massive pile of loot you cannot hope to get all of, when the time is up, the stage closes down and you move to the next level.

Because at the moment, the treasure vaults are just a waste of time, energy and effort. they're dull and boring - the only good thing is the music.

The music is calming, that much we can agree on. And the stages doesn't even have to change! Much. The timer could start as soon as that party button is pressed, and when it reaches 0:00, if you are not on the elevator (or already down) then you lose all of your loot (crowns, heat, crystals, stuff in your belt. Of course this would require the changing of the levels name into something a bit sinister.

Am I the only one who doesn't have a problem with it ?? ...

Yeah, Treasure Vaults don't give the most crowns but they're easy, relaxing, and a quick way to get some tokens.
I've never found it to be a waste of my energy. I'm glad to get the Vault every time that I have.

I have gotten to the vault a few times, and the most valuable thing I got was a free Force buckler. It got sold for 400 cr cuz that was the most I could get out of it. But I could have done any other stage and probably gotten more than what I get in the treasure vault. The only thing different is that there are VERY few opponents. If any at all.

If they don't up the Vault yield, at least follow eternity's idea. Free cash, the only problem being that you have to grab as much as you can and run before you lose it all. It's a gamble, so ppl can't just take their time to strip search the area.

I once got more profit from the graveyard. In fact, I find the graveyard the more preferable option. Even when I'm looking for cr, the Graveyard is more appealing because it's more exiting, and you'd probably get more there anyway.

SK just need to do something to make vaults more worth it. In any way. So less free cash with a time limit could work, instead of more cash with danger (ordinary stages.)

I dunno.

For the name of the time limit stage, how about something that hints at a gamble being in play? So maybe Greedy Gambit? (Have you noticed most stages have alliteration? Slimy showdown, Cadaverous clash etc...) Or something? I suck at names...

Greedy Gambit sounds good. Also, now that I think about it the time limit sounds better. It's less to add into the game (at least, not having to add something completely new) while still creating a nice unique floor.

I came up with a name that wasn't shot down first glance! YAY!

So it'll be free cash, same amount as reg stage, but you'd probably get a little less, with the only danger being that you could lose everything. As opposed to a more dangerous level where you run the risk of dying, with more stuff.

Right?

Make a bunch of compartments

Make a bunch of compartments with irregular layouts, "or" gates, and random traps strewn about to slow movement. Party button activates the timer, and players worm their way through the rooms and interconnects to grab as much as they can. When the timer runs out, everyone is teleported to the elevator room with a small after prize and a few mineral formations.

I would even say throw in some of those blocked rooms that can only be opened from another room like Scarlet Fortress has.

Sounds cool. Maybe it could be a different Treasure vault stage? SO we COULD have Greedy Gambit AND this one. What's a good name...Timer takeout? Countdown Collection? Risky Run? Danger Dash? (K...now these r beginning to suck so I'll stop here...)

+1 on this one, getting one on T3 and counting yourself getting less than 500 coins to regain your energy AND having half of the treasure chests behind energy gates is just a slap in the face. I actually caught myself silently cheering when it's a graveyard instead.

More posts! WOOT! I PREFER graveyard cuz you get more and it's FUN! Treasure vaults give you less and take away the fun. Chromalisk slapped your face, it'd be dead in 3 seconds...

yea it would be an nice idea and i love the names valkyrie made,...except danger dash..... WHAT?! lol but really good idea

altough i must add that when i like the idea of the losing all your crowns earned on the level may need a little more of work than just a minor update cuz its need coding to dont erase ALL YOU CROWNS instead of just the level crown....

other than that this is a plus 1 to the idea.

Oh, and @Duke_Nukem i dont care if youre a girl but youre just a noob troll spammer stop making the "lines" i see what you do in many posts......

Oh, and almost forgot it may add a HUGE coin that gives 500 Cr like when you kill a lichen colony that has merged like 20 lichens to the blue/golden boxes

........Graveyard VS Treasure Vault

I dont rly care for treasure vault its just wow ..... thats it...... some people say plz dont bre graveyard and i want to go to graveyard i can kill the phantoms so what.... ppl say should we just run through..... im not running im fighiting.... i have a fire bomb so i could take them all out easily...... only thing i like about treasure vault is getting a forge spark but i can easily get more in fsc :/

Just weighing in...

Was just about to come on a post this SAME suggestion. Glad I didn't duplicate it. Treasure vault is laughable. Who's treasure vault is this exactly? Looks more like the Hobo's stash down the street. Just did a T2, it came up on the last level. It was worth 450 crowns...not even worth the energy I spent on it. Most T1's carry more loot. Change the name to "Nap Time". Oooooooor, make this exciting again! How? Very simple fix, decrease chance that you'll run a treasure vault to 5 percent. Increase the loot to at least the amount of an arena of the same level. I'm just estimating, but i think at the rate I just got, it would have to increase 400%.

Alright Devs, I know your in the business so I know your feelings won't get hurt, but getting a Treasure Vault is a REAL drag on my gameplay experience. Especially when its on the last level in what should be the most profitable mission of a run. Seriously, I just spent 60-90 mist getting there, don't do me like that. Just sayin'.

"I'm disappointed with all those who don't appreciate the treasure vault. The only thing it really lacks is heat.

When you add up all the crowns and value of the average amount of tokens you pull from those boxes, you definitely come out significantly ahead of the 10 CE cost. Always gotta remember only to buy the right mats though."

Wow indeed, I didn't know I stepped in such a passionate topic. My reply is in the forum you were so kind to link to. As for this suggestion forum. From a developers perspective my thoughts aren't as difficult as "Adding the BEST new Boss mOnster EVAR that will have Skulls for Eyez!! and poop Spiral Knights to fight!!!"...Heck its not even balancing Haze/poison. Simple problem/simple solution that affects the community as a whole.

some ideas for solutions

The are players who likes the Treasure Vaults because they are relaxing and players who don´t like them for the lack of monsters and coins.... my idea is simple to conform all the players... add a tail to the map a long path full of Monster Cages. there can only be open before the party button, they are conected to Explosive Blocks so the players need shoot at the first block to start the open secuence (also Timed Explosive Blocks betwen the Explosive Blocks and Monster Cages can give the players enough time to open boxes and kill creatures)
this map area is a separated path connected in the end or the midle of the map, the end of this area is floating close to the beginnig were the players appear, or the party button. they can hit the first Timed/Explosive Block to start the secuence.
the creatures should give less stuff to balance the idea... or the players gonna chose kill the creatures all the time

a even more simple idea is add more Kleptolisk and put Tundralisk (add lungs, in the corridors closed with rocks with these creatures), so the Tundralisk freeze the players and the Kleptolisk steal pickups from them
or add the spawn point similar to the ones in the jelly king maps to generate the infinite Kleptolisk and take out the drops of these creatures on these maps

a beter idea is add temed Treasure Vaults
with alterated criatures; some of them steal stuff from the players or take the drops in the floor or shoot crowns that count as normal ones but deal damage to the players (these clowns don't remain in the floor)

EXAMPLE:
deadly casino: is a "construct Treasure Vault"
it have lumbers and Scuttlebots
the lumbers instead of be trees are giant slot machines, their giant arm is the pull handle. and can shot long range coins, the coins deal damage and count as coins
the Scuttlebot are located as a chess board between the boxes, they have the same attack but instead they shot coins to and can dodge as devilites
the map idea is gambling; it have 4 or more areas and they are closed, the players can only open one of two doors, to open the doors they need hit switches and buttons. one area have more rewards and the other have more enemies
maybe some areas have sub areas with the same puzzle giving the players a chance to acces a master switch to open all the doors
---
a fiend themed can work with the living money bag idea, devilites can be the bags being in defence state most time and throwing coins to the players. also a "Pit Boss" pinata would look great dropping more heat and materials than normal like a linchen colony
