I know we aren't going to see any guildhall renovations anytime soon but I'd like some management tools for guilds. Right now, running a guild is completely silly. It seems like people are just abandoning guilds once they begin to stagnate. One of the problems is player retention. It seems like a lot of people hit the wall really fast and abandon the game but there is absolutely no way to tell outside of sending mails and hoping they don't respond. Even then you're going to have to do a lot of legwork outside of the game to keep track of everything. It would be really nice to have some tools to help manage guilds in-game without a ton of hassle.

  • Message of the Day - Officer/GM settable message that is displayed when guild members log on. Can include stuff like "Please collect green minerals; we are trying to influence strata 6 on iron phantom gate" or "Welcome xXvanaxXKillerXx to the Guild!"
  • Officer Messages/MOTD - The point in having multiple offers is so that they can be on at different times of the day and help manage the guild. Right now there is no way to send mails to multiple recipients. Even just having a "group" type of mail system would work fine or a MOTD only viewable to officers/GM.
  • Last Login (Guild Management) - Having to mail out 30 different messages every week to see if people log on is a great crown sink but seriously? Can we just get information on our friends list of when people last logged on. There is an arbitrary 100 player limit on guilds and this is just salt in the wound. Once you reach critical mass at ~80 players it becomes impossible to manage guild rosters.
  • Member Logs - (Officer/GM only) This info will update Officer/GMs with who has joined the guild, who invited them, who has left the guild. Either as a log-in type of deal or a log that can be accessed any time.
  • Infractions System - Basically warnings that officers/gms can issue that stick with the player (i.e. long inactive period, being annoying begging, etc)
  • Guild Ads - Basically a list of things guildies need (i.e. Eeks needs Barbarous Thorn Shiled Recipe). It doesn't have to be super fancy but just being able to add/remove things from the list, check if you've gotten it from someone, etc. would be great

PLEASE!

What Dark ritual?

Best ideas I've seen in a while. I sport it all, especially the:

Group mail-last login
Guild ads
Member logs

The last login is great because you can say, Hm... Lots of new people want to join but were full. Let's see when [blank] was on last! Hm... Been two months. I'll send them a mail saying they can rejoin.

+1800STEAMER

on it all.

Sounds a whole lot like the way crews and flags work in OOO's original game, YPP. Though it would be awesome for guild to become more manageable.

An ingame guild hall bulliten

An ingame guild hall bulliten or message board would be nice to, in order to organize guild events and stay connected as a community.

Anyways +1 all the way!

Yes

This is probably the best way to build the MMO experience. I would be much more active in guild politics and recruiting if it were easier to manage things. I doubt it would even be that much work, relative to designing a new set of levels or adding a new class of monsters, and it would add as much or more to SK. I especially like:
Login message of the day
Mass mailing/multi-mailing
Last login
Guild membership log
Infractions system

One thing I'd like is a guild bulletin board. It'd be a mailbox that you could access in Guild Hall and read other player messages; to post, it would be like listing an auction: you write your message, and select how long you want it up for; and you can only have one message up.

I can totally see these as things to put into the guild hall- like a guild post office to do mass mailings, an office area that only officers/GMs see, etc.

I think these are awesome

I think these are awesome ideas. Managing a large guild right now is ridiculous. I use excel to keep track of when I see people online and if I haven't seen them in a while I send them a message and give them a week to two weeks to reply before kicking them.

I really like all these ideas and hope there will be some sort of update about this in the near future.

Hire some NPC

I posted this in another place as well but I see this thread is more on guild halls ideas.

How about Guild Masters/Officers can hire NPC like an Auction house representative, a UV Applier, Unbinder, Kozma, Brinks and etc etc for lets say 100ce each NPC? These NPC will appear in the guild hall after hired.

These will be much much more convenient and the guild hall will actually become a place where the guild members can hang out and at the same time do things like reroll their UV and complain to their guildmates how punch gives them stupid UVs like curse when they don't use a faust. ; )

Random Thought

Alliances. Just a personal thought, but interaction between guilds has mostly been competitive, or nothing at all, for as far as I know. Some standard way of making alliances would be nice, so some friendly growing can happen. Even the ability to visit allied guild halls and drool jealously over their huge activity numbers.

I'm supportive for all of

I'm supportive for all of these ideas - including Flamdrenites' and CycloneBird's - although the cost should be a bit higher (200, maybe 400 ce) while the NPC stays there forever once the payment is made.

One thing I don't like in the OP, however, is being inactive for a while constituting an infraction. Moreso a permanant infraction. A year or something like that without being active at all is understandable for some sort of action, but I know how much of a pain schoolwork can be - especially when you move into college years like myself, or university like those above me - and it wouldn't surprise me if I was offline for up to more than a month.

hmmm

Thanks for the support, AlfieSR. I had the price of 100ce in mind because I was thinking that hired NPC will stay around for 30days or 60days but permanent is good.

The only reason I think

The only reason I think permenant would be better, CycloneBird, is because otherwise it'd be easier to simply go to the Bazaar rather than pay a continual price. Most people running small guilds wouldn't bother, making the idea pointless.

Lovely necro there. What is that, like, 8 months ago? Funny that you commented on this one page thread and not on these two.
