Today, and yesterday, I've been having one problem. When I try to join parties from my friends list, or even through the arcade gate, I sometimes get disconnected. I lose 10 energy as if I have joined the party, but I when I log back into the game, I'm sitting in haven. WTF? I've lost at least 60 energy from this problem, and am awaiting an explanation.
Disconnected when I attempt to join a party, 10 CE Still Spent
I have this same issue. i hope a solution pops up
Where are you from and who is your ISP?
Florida and isp is Comcast.
Im pretty sure its not my internet cuz if it was then if it dropped, everyone would stop moving and the latency thing would turn red or disappear, and THEN it'd kick me back to the login screen.
with this issue, it boots me IMMEDIATELY when i join a gate or pvp.
dosent always do it though
Need to keep track whenever it pops up. Some ISPs screw with the traffic, so its helpful to know if those affected all have something in common, or get to the EC2 in a certain direction.
I'm in California and am with AT&T.
This started happening after the last patches were applied.
Happened once yesterday.
I just had it happen 3 times in a row this morning.
1st and 3rd time ate CE without even leaving Haven.
In game bug reports filed each time.

This has happened to me 2 times and many of my guild members have experienced it too.
it's been happening to me too. Is everyone else using steam here?
now i can't even get into the game. i log in, click my character, my game says heading into town, and does nothing...
Just thought I'd link this here. I may have started a thread in the wrong forum.

sometimes just logs me off, then has a black creen when i try to log back in
is kicking me when i attempt to start a solo run
Same problem same issue. Extremely frustrating. First can't get into the game until after a few tries... then finally in the game I go to join friends and get booted - I lose Mist/Crystal energy and I hate wasting that (I've lost a LOT doing this). Also, sometimes when I choose to go UP to Haven after finishing a run, I'll get booted. Today it took me 5 tries to get into the game -- kept logging in and getting immediately disconnected.
Jacobey has it right: "This started happening after the last patches were applied." This started happening to both me and my brother after the new patches took place a few days back. We both are on Steam accounts. I have another family member who does NOT use a Steam account and he never has the issue. I have a few non-Steam friends as well and their's continue to be working fine. I believe it has something to do with Steam & Spiral Knights and the newest patches.
As to where I'm at and my Internet Provider - I'm in Michigan and I'm using Comcast. It's not the internet nor provider.
Is there anything being done about this???!!! I keep pressing F2 and submitting 'bug report' over and over...
I'm happy to see others are having the same issue. Thanks for posting this thread.
For Steam users still suffereing disconnects after Friday's patching, have any of you tried re-installing your game? There's some users reporting that the random disconnects stop after they do this/
Yes i tried the verify game cache and tried reinstalling it. Still getting disconnect issues.
I've sent like 10 bug reports already and email'd support with my log files.
Lost count how much energy this has eaten up.
Verifying game cache with Steam does not appear to work properly since the game patches itself outside of Steam. If anything it will re-aquire the old files and then have to patch again.
As for it still not working, I'm not sure what other tricks remain...
I have done this procedure 3 times now and I get the same results and am STILL experiencing this extremely frustrating issue:
I go to my Steam Library
I right click on Spiral Knights
I choose Properties
I click on Local Files tab
I choose View Integrity of Game Cache
It takes a moment validating the game....
Then I receive the following message EACH time:
"8 files failed to validate and will be reacquired"
Then Steam automatically downloads the 289 mb of information that didn't validate
Then I open Spiral Knights and it goes thru the download data, patching and validating screens....
and then I still have the same issue!!!
I keep losing Energy each time I go to leave 'Haven' to join friends down below (and get logged off (disconnected)). When one has to wait a day for Mist Energy to fill up, or use valuable and hard-earned Crystal Energy (as I don't generally pay cash for it), this persistent issue becomes extremely irritating and frustrating.
Please direct me in how to proceed... I'm about to give up on this game as I am becoming that frustrated (and I've been addicted for the past few weeks... pouring far too many hours into leveling up...) Thank you.
I know this is fustraiting, so please bear with me.
The way to aquire a fresh copy of the game is to use the Delete Local Content option. Then go to your \Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights
folder and make sure it is properly empty. Once that is done try installing the game fresh from Steam. It will have to download that 289MB of information for the fresh install. When you launch the game it should auto-patch to the current version. Hopefully, with this method there won't be some leftover file that could make things go pear-shapped.
Thank you for your replies - I apologize for my frustration... I've taken some time away from the game to cool off.
I just want to make sure before I "Delete Local Content" -- I won't lose my character will I?
Thank you for your time and concern in this whole issue.
Your character and everything will all be safe. All that information is stored server-side.
Unfortunately the problem still continues...
I went ahead and did as you said: Deleted Local Content, went to Computer file and located the \Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights folder and completely emptied it and then emptied that from my recycle bin. I re-installed the game fresh from Steam. The game went through the patching and validating screens. Initially logging in worked the first time without a glitch. I logged off, went and had dinner, logged on and was then immediately logged off again - the same problem as before. I tried it a couple more times - log off, log on, get disconnected. I did the 'verify local cache' and it came up witht the same "8 files failed to validate". I'm wary to accept any friend invites to 'join' down below as I'm fairly certain I'll be logged off and the game will 'eat' 10 of my Energy.
The account in our home that is not a Steam-based Spiral Knights character works without having this issue... that being said, is there a way to separate my Steam SK character account from Steam? I know initially many people wanted to link their SK character TO Steam.
Thanks again for your time! :D
Steam accounts cannot be un-linked from Steam at the moment, I'm sorry. :(
Is there any way you can find out what 8 files won't validate?
This same thing happened to me too, and now the game won't let me log back in at all!
