add two handed swords that also take the shield spot. some people have argued that the shield is too valuable so why not use the sword as a shield too? thoughts? feelings?
I give OOO full licence to use this.

It could be overpowered due to the lack of shield the sword would have to compensate with either immense damage, immense speed, or both.
It could be useless because if it were only a little more powerful than the troikas or the sealed than the lack of a shield wouldn't be worth it. I doubt there's a middle ground with this weapon.
the lack of shield, regardless if you are gunner swordie, bomber or hybrid is a big deal in the game especially in tier3
even if you have an uber weapon, dodging is NEVER enough to avoid harm.
even if you claim that you'll dodge like a god, i will never believe you...
plus, any newbie holding a weapon? disaster.
any superweapon is useless when you are dead.
Shields are nothing more but for survivability. If you are to sacrifice the use of it by equipping a two handed weapon, well you should gain pretty good benefits then. No shield use = higher damage output. This should make it fair and make more of a variety. I think that people should have the CHOICE to either use their shield or not use it when equipped with a specific weapon.
If parrying worked in SK, it would be OK to have a two handed sword equipped. Also for lockdown, if you use two handed weapon u can't activate ur class mod ability but you'll still gain the buffss and debuffs.
Why not put the shield on our backs we all ready have animations for it and all that. it would free both hands for duel welding.
To gospel, I have gone through T3 wolver dens without using my sheild at all (I was eating and thus playing entirely with the mouse, and my block key is not on my mouse), depth 26 IIRC. Got hit once near the very end. Did it another time to see if I could again, didnt do as well in the not getting hit department, but the hits were more early in the depth so I ate enouph hearts before the end to be at full health. still wolver dens are kinda a unique case as there are little to no ranged threats, and wolver teleporting makes them realy realy easy to deal with when solo with a sword.
That said SK is desighned with sword and board in mind (you may replace sword with gun or bomb at your discrestion). Its how lockdown works, its how the aethetic works, its how the game works. When the troika line is considered, well its HUGE and you one hand it, anything smaller than that and there is no reason you cant one hand it, anything larger and it will be rediculous looking.
I agree with Zephyrgon. If we do use two hand swords, we should have some benefits and some disadvantages. Giving up shields is practically insane, but it would give higher damage output. Parrying is where things come into question. Would parrying have the same number of hits as a shield would have? Parrying should be slightly weaker than shielding. Maybe you can three hits while parrying before you have to wait. But, then the strength of the weapon comes into play. If a two hand sword gives elemental damage, it should be able to take elemental in more time than shadow while parrying.
If you want moar damage there are trinkets for that, no need to sacrifice the shield or work on new mechanics.
I can one-charge/combo everything but bosses when solo, more damage is pointless.
There is a topic like this in the Spanish forum and I like the idea of having another types of weapons.
As said here (and me in the Spanish topic), the sword itself could maybe block one or two strikes, not more, and disable the weapon if broken for the time that the "shield function" takes to refill.
@Juances: You may be more than rich/grinder to have Damage Maximum equipment with "light weapons", but maybe if someone took the path of a 2-handed heavy sword user they could instead take a "tank" path and have much more life (heart trinkets instead of mod calibrator trinkets), status resistances/immunities and such. Someone with your "equipment CE/crown value" could be entirely different and you may even be hitting a tough wall. If only Lockdown was rebalanced... xD
If implemented, most likely the 2-handed heavy sword would be a reeeeeally slow weapon with massive damage imput and no combo chain (1-hit). It could even maybe make the user walk slower.
the sword IS the shield it can block as well
agree with the tank=slower and shield is broken=sword is broken
I've suggested that two handed weapons 1) take two weapon slots instead of removing shield 2) or can still shield bump if they remove the shield. 3) or are directional shields themselves akin to a forward parry only.
Want a 2h sword that replaces shields? You already have one, in 3 simple steps.
1/ Go equip a Sudaruska/Triglav.
2/ Then equip a Swiftstrike Buckler.
3/ Go to T3.
You just equipped yourself a "NINJA CLAYMORE!", which is fast, strong, huge KB, two-swings and quick recovery with a stun/freeze effect. You'll also notice that attempting to shield is about as useful as blocking with your teeth!
If you feel comfortable there, like that then...well hey; that's your two-handed weapon right there. fast, strong and basically shieldless; no need to advance the idea anymore than that, it's already in game.
If you find that you're dying a lot and wishing you had a shield...then the idea need not progress any further.
Either way, you have your solution. Go play with that.
huh... funny... I solo FSC with a Sudaruska and don't use my shield except to bump zombies away... Maybe i should get a swiftstrike... it would go great with Fallen armor...
@darkbrady This Suda is already ninja.... this seems almost overkill... ;D
But anyways... what i think should happen is IF they put in two handed weapons, just change the Sudaruska/Triglav to two handed as well... its the right size... and all they'd really need to do after that is add in a normal damage heavy sword and they'd be good....
~Tsu
(I really need to get me a triglav...)
Triglav's are just crap. The freeze cancels out the KB of the swing; not what you want! D:
Suda is the main man right now.
And yeah, Suda's can run nicely as things currently are; but add an extra ASi:Hi to it (assuming you dono't already have Ultra~Max?) and it'll be even juicier! :D
Seriously that is just *the* answer to 2h weapons o.o
EDIT:
More so than I thought. It was originally a joke, but it sounded so much fun in writing that I had to test it out with some of my old swordy gear.
To anyone interested in what the game actually would be like to play a 2h sworder, or just using Troika line, that are able to read a huge post:

We are KNIGHTS. Our father, the sword. Our mother, the shield. Without a shield, you are not a knight, just a soldier with his worthless life.
Darkbrady, you are the only other person I know who shares the "Triglav cancels KB" idea. I use a big sword so that monsters dont come near. Not so that i can freeze them when theyre right in my face and I'm in the middle of recovering from a swing.
Never going to happen: shields are too valuable to knightts and noone would use them if they didn't have defense and if the sword functioned as a shield as well it could either be A) overpowered, or B) useless/a ripoff of the troika line.
