In response to an 000 email about me not playing regularly anymore.

Hello!
As part of our ongoing dialogue with the Spiral Knights player community, we are reaching out to players who were significantly active in the game, but have since become inactive. For that reason, we'd like to ask you for some additional feedback on your experience with the game. This request is entirely optional and is intended to help us improve the game and decide on future additions and changes.
If you are comfortable doing so, we'd love to hear your responses to the following questions...
* At first glance, what was the single most important factor that encouraged you to play Spiral Knights? The Gameplay just fanatastic
* Can you remember your impressions of the game from your first time playing? Were they positive? Very positive I thought the game rocked
* Was it clear to you how the game economy worked? Did it seem reasonable and fair? Eh well it was easy to learn it, but i think it needs more work though. I have no solutions of my own for it.
* As you gained more experience, what aspect of the game was most exciting? Vanaduke loved the run and the boss made a guild centered around it. Known as Active which later took the name Unity.
* Can you tell us what aspect of the game you liked least? I would have to say nothing but i did dislike the rising of crafting prices
* As mentioned earlier, it seems like you have stopped playing the game regularly. Can you share the reason why? Is there something that would incline you to play the game more? A specific feature or change? Gonna answer this one down below
We really appreciate your feedback! As a thank you for taking the time to respond to this mini-survey, we'd like to give you a small gift: a Solstice Prize Box! You can claim this gift on any of your characters by entering the following key into the Redeem Code menu accessible from within Spiral Knights...
F9H-CFP-KQH- already claimed by me
Thank you, and we hope to see you in the Clockworks again soon!
Warmest Regards,
Three Rings Design
* As mentioned earlier, it seems like you have stopped playing the game regularly. Can you share the reason why? Is there something that would incline you to play the game more? A specific feature or change?
Thanks for the gift. That being said even If you gave me 200kce I still wouldn't feel like playing your game. Let me go over the reasons why i stopped playing regularly. This one is easy I have done everything your game has to offer in just under a year.

Honestly there is nothing left for me here I done it all. What more can you offer me 000? I have voiced it countless of times how you could have kept me playing so I almost think this email is a slap to the face. You didn't respond when practically 40%( just a guess) of the games population left to play diablo 3. You still haven't released any new content and you have the gall to ask why? The problem was you needed to pour on content every month in order to keep me playing regularly. I seriously don't think content every month is too much to ask for. A lot of games release new content weekly. I don't care about money and I don't care about accessories. I simply want things to do and you just don't have that. You put money first and that was your mistake. Put the game first and the money will come its that simple. If money is your only objective your gonna piss off a lot of people just like you did when you made DLC that needed to be paid for. Put the Game first and you can do no wrong. I do understand you are a business as well but you just go about it the wrong way. Stop making high ce prices too with free elevators as well. Just so people will be more inclined to shell out money for promos because ce prices are high. I'm not ready to quit yet....... in fact I'm giving you one more chance because when you do make content its usually very good.

Many more but I cant remember them off the top of my head. A good amount of these players has stop playing as well but some might remember them.
Back then when I ran Active all recruiting went thru me even if my players discovered them and I do give credit out to them as well
Not hating on 000 just letting them know why I don't play anymore

At first glance, what was the single most important factor that encouraged you to play Spiral Knights?
This trailer that contains just about everything you removed from the game
Can you remember your impressions of the game from your first time playing? Were they positive?
Very positive.
I remember loving all of the different weapons and trying to try them all out before the week was up.
That old Silversix was my favourite weapon ever.
Was it clear to you how the game economy worked? Did it seem reasonable and fair?
The economy was pretty easy to understand, it's just a stock market.
It never really felt reasonable, but that's why I gave in and bought CE.
As you gained more experience, what aspect of the game was most exciting?
Finding new, non-random levels in the clockworks.
But then you removed them all for no reason.
If you guys can't afford to make new content, you can't afford to remove content.
Can you tell us what aspect of the game you liked least?
The fact all there is to do is farm and grind for CE or CR or whatever.
There's absolutely nothing to do or go after that doesn't have some kind of economical impact.
I also didn't like how not-random the bosses were. The second half of a tier is always guaranteed to be a boss stratum.
It feels like even though it's a dungeon crawler, you have absolutely no impact on the world no matter what you do.
And this is now apparently supposed to be a story based game so you can't perpetuate that scenario.
As mentioned earlier, it seems like you have stopped playing the game regularly. Can you share the reason why? Is there something that would incline you to play the game more? A specific feature or change?
You guys have been pretty on the ball when it comes to listening to what I have to say, so I'm not really surprised I didn't get this e-mail.
I've actually been playing a little more regularly lately, but that's just because I can make a profit selling my 2-star failure crafts to vendors and buy 100CE every week just on Mist. I usually just end up crafting that too but it's not important, I don't really have a reason to save it.
If I was ever going to play more I would need more than a red dot for a connection.
The lag gets worse every time I even attempt to play Spiral Knights, so I've stopped bothering.
Aside from that, I'm not going to suggest and features or changes. There's nothing in it for me since you refuse to even accommodate my region to make playing the game a tolerable experience.

Well this post has become more helpful if people like Shoebox chime in and post their reasons as well.

Did you give someone a hair trim, massage or polished someones Brute Jelly Helm yet?

Sold someone hair with a regal toupee, i gave one to myself yes, i have sold someone one so i did indeed have to polish it before i sold it or else who would buy it.

I'd be ashamed to play this pretend-to-quit game more than 0 times.

Look like others are getting the email. I'm a bit surprised that it seems that people that are still involved in the game are getting it.

I might stop playing for a while because of this. All I want is for them to read what I have to say on their game and reply, and if they're doing that for people that don't play.... well, looks like I'd better stop playing!

40% left to play Diablo 3? More like 5%. I knew plenty of active people before it came out. I think 4 left to play D3, and they are back now, cause they did everything possible in like 2 weeks.

Problem with this game? You can buy your way to the top, and you can purchase premium currency with in-game currency. Premium currency should be kept separate from in-game currency, and should only be allowed to buy accessory/custome items with it (like maplestory). People buying their way to the top should be simple to understand (hint hint cocosnake).

like maplestory
NO. If there is any one thing Spiral Knights [and Three Rings] should not do it is to follow in the footsteps of Nexon.

"40% left to play Diablo 3? More like 5%. I knew plenty of active people before it came out. I think 4 left to play D3, and they are back now, cause they did everything possible in like 2 weeks."
I agree, not many left for Diablo 3.
Spiral Knights as a whole is a better, and less greedy designed video game overall.
This shouldn't be a shocker, if you have ever been on the forums you will see that it is flooded with hate because Blizzard tossed the reins over to Jay Willson who is a terrible game developer with next to 0 experience, most importantly, 0 experience with the previous Diablo games. If you even try to make an "I love Blizzard" thread in there you will get spat at (in fact, I might be the one doing the spitting), as well as the thread will be off of the first page very quickly and to never return.
And that is why there is a "Real Money Auction House" That is tearing up the economy, as well as the entire game totally lost all of the good things from Diablo 2.
Jay Willson is an idiot and I am glad that we have our developers for this game, because at least OOO isn't ignorant and they want to find out why people left their game.

Yeah, but in this game, at least people spending $$ for CE will help out the new / free playerbase by lowering the price of it.
The way this game is going is fine, it is just that new players that aren't at missions rank 5-2 are on the low end of the stick.

What Diablo 3? Diablo fans will go to Torchlight 2, which is made by the actual Diablo 2 guys. But apples to apples, I don't know why compare this game to that one. I would really like people would stop saying every MMO will empty due to freaking Diablo 3.

I made a guess if you read it but a decent amount of Unity players have left for it so i made a judgement base on that. All you have to do is go back a few weeks and see a lot of players really did leave for diablo 3. 40% is clearly a rough number just meant to say A lot of people left. Whatever anyways 000 has to be hurting if they are trying to bribe players to come back to play. They have never done this type of thing before so something must have changed.

@Hollafamer "something must have changed"
Not necessarily. Although an action like this can indicate financial stress on a company, that is not necessarily true. The larger the player base is, the more fun the game is, and the more money OOO makes. The fact that OOO has decided to reach out to the community could just indicate that they decided to take action to benefit the community. Don't read too much into this. Remember, Sega doesn't buy dying games.
"a lot of players really did leave for diablo 3"
This could be true, since Diablo 3 was a much-anticipated title, but based on what I've heard it wasn't all that great. Anyone who left for Diablo 3 will likely be returning shortly.

I have yet to receive a mail of a Solstice Box D: D: D:

Three Rings, is not hurting at all, the game is not dead, and I am sure you have not accomplished every imaginable goal in this game yet.
A few I can come up with on the fly:
1. Acquire every item in this game and put a max uv on it.
2. Run around the fountain 5million times+
3. Troll Nick or Boswick
4. Find Boswick's bush
5. Surprise Three Rings
6. Play the game in a towel
7. Recruit someone older than Fallout
8. Kill people in t3 lockdown with the following: (winimillion, Whb, Dread Venom, Ionized salt bomb, Cautery sword, proto sword, static flash, and proto bomb)
9. Post your quitting this game and keep on playing <--- wait....nvm you accomplished this:
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/18934
10. Make a nice guild and destroy it <--- I do this a lot in Eos, not sure if you done this yet though got to try it out its real fun.

Just because there's something to do, doesn't make it something FUN to do.

Yeah, Diablo 3 turned out to be such an overrated failure and I'm glad I didn't buy the game. I'm just being objective, my pal bought it and he was always complaining about Blizzard changing a lot of things, as if the game wasn't developed for so long (it seems that the delaying tactics were just to build hype). Everything turned out to be broken, imbalanced and unsecured, mass hacks broke out just after the second week of release, AH could be 'fooled' by changing you system's time, never ending nerfing of characters and monsters and so much more.
In fact due to the recent nerf, the Demon Hunter class was rendered almost useless. He almost quit LOL

Oh my gosh are you breaking up with Three rings? Is the divorce final this time? Who gets custody of the kids? See this relationship is a lack of communication. Let's talk about our feelings. Oh wait you already did that, so does that mean Three Rings wears the pants? Dot dot dot.

Dear lord are you hilarious or what

@thich
If three rings makes things to do it's usually pretty fun tho the appeal to keep doing it wears off eventually.
@Fey-The-Virtuous
Nice to see people who are creative good job on this one.
This thread is mostly just telling 000 why I stop playing regularly(Not QUIT!) and how they can earn me back. Letting people know as well that apparently they are trying to get a few people back and gain valuable feedback as well.

At first glance, what was the single most important factor that encouraged you to play Spiral Knights?
The addition to steam and the art style of the game.
Can you remember your impressions of the game from your first time playing? Were they positive?
I was amazed at how fun the game was to play, it was easy to learn but extremely hard to master.
Was it clear to you how the game economy worked? Did it seem reasonable and fair?
At first, the economy was slightly confusing. But after awhile, I figured out all the little tidbits. It's fair in my eyes.
As you gained more experience, what aspect of the game was most exciting?
The thought of delving into the clockworks, discovering more about the planet itself. Delving into lairs of complex bosses, devising ways to defeat them with your teammates and claiming the rare prizes that they held.
Can you tell us what aspect of the game you liked least?
Lockboxes and Shadow Lairs. Lockboxes introduced accessories, which drew almost all of your attention away from real content. The same with Shadow Lairs, these are nothing new. You have simply rehashed old areas and bosses, which you had no real right to do since there is so much you could expand on with new content.
As mentioned earlier, it seems like you have stopped playing the game regularly. Can you share the reason why? Is there something that would incline you to play the game more? A specific feature or change?
The complete lack of any real content. You need more bosses, more areas to explore, more story. It also needs to come out faster. I understand game development is a lengthy process, but you barely give us any hint at all that you are working on something. Release spoilers, have ARGs, and more importantly EXPAND! Look at all these creatures you have, Vog hasn't made an appearance yet and his cubs used to be in the game. Devilites have a corporate ladder, easy to put in a CEO boss. The Crimson Order has only been mentioned once or twice. We need more content at a faster rate to keep ourselves interested in the game you've designed.

So if I stopped playing, I'd get a free Solstice Box? Why the heck did I pay for one, then?
I haven't been playing as much as I used to for a long, long time now. This is because content has slowed to a halt, and what we've been getting isn't the best quality. The Expansion Mission wasn't too interesting, and all it really did was introduce a new OP hammer with extreme reach. I want those new gremlins to appear in more than just those levels, since the current-standing gremlin levels are getting unbearably boring. The Missions so far are also 'meh' in quality, with an incredible amount of hand-holding still to be found at the end of Rank 7. Randomized Depths are alright, but still pretty boring. However, they're not as awful as Jade Tangle or Wolver Dens (They're literally just the same thing over and over again, but Aurora Island still manages to be fun).
Remove the Elevator Pass, or jack up the price. You've screwed up the economy, but now you're going to be the hero and save the economy with promos? Wow, OOO, you shouldn't have! Some are ugly, others unoriginal, and one has been just plain nasty. Please, just stop focusing your time on animating phallic cat tails.
Do something about LD, find a way to balance it, or create a new Krogmo's Coliseum game. I'm trying to earn a weapon, but I'm being exposed to an obnoxious side of the community, and forced to suffer a minimum of 150 games with them.
Heck, just balance things in general, and stop nerfing monster AI into the ground.
We've all been posting our opinions for ages. That's what the Suggestions Forum is for, that's what some Goodbye Threads are for. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to stop playing for a few months so I can get a free whatever-box and OOO's desire to actually listen to what I have to say. *eyeroll*

Is "I've done everything that interests me" no longer a good reason to stop playing a game and move on? Sounds like OOO was completely successful. Unless you never spent any money, I suppose. In which case they might be thinking 'good riddance'? Well I suppose they can be successful from a video game perspective and not from a business perspective. Certainly the rate of attrition of game development studios that make even successful games is quite impressive.
Also what are these games that release new content weekly?
I do find this sort of mail-out a bit intrusive though. Try cancelling a credit card or some insurance policies ;) I usually fill them with ridiculous responses if any at all. "why did you stop playing?" "I found a dead bird on my lawn and took it to be an ill omen."

Holla come back!...but only if the Danger Missions come this week. If they don't, then peace out boy scout!

"7. Recruit someone older than Fallout "
Older? This could get quite difficult D:

Well, for one thing, I think Boswick doesn't have much to do besides making more accessories. :P
For all we know, Boswick may be the only one who ever does much of anything, such as, working 5 days a week. :P And then the rest of them just play the game 4 days a week, and only get 1 day a week in of work. XD

hmm. I have gotten bored here and there. Maybe I will leave and come back to SK an event comes on again. XD

I have started playing Path of Exile and simply enjoying it. That being said, I always loved SK and always will but as far as "playing regularly" is concerned, the developers have really disappointed me and that ain't happening unless some core issues are solved. The game has so much potential but does so little for the "majority" of community. However, I hope and eagerly wait for new content and most importantly new approach from OOO in handling this game.

@Holy-Nightmare Luckily that wasn't me. It was favoritedream's fault. Bye.
You recruited nj and his band of aussies?
Ohgawd a player is calling OOO out. What shall the general discussion forums doo0o0o0o0o0o0o.
