Please... DON’T POST “NOOOOOOOO!”!
Thx :D
This idea has been suggested in many places all over the forums. And it has been rejected in many places, all over the forums. I admit to stealing a few of these ideas from some of the threads that I found, but I felt that they needed some changing, and each concept had strengths and weak points. So I decided to combine them together into one big, purpose-build thread all about weapons that attach to your character's hand(s).
Some of the threads I found with this idea:
the thread "Punch and Kick" by Phantonn
a thread about shadow lair weapons by DaGunner
The most thorough example I could find: this thread by Gigaflame.
I am sure it has been suggested all throughout the forums in long-forgotten threads or as a single, laughed-at comment on a major thread that no one remembers. If I took any of those ideas, I'm sorry for not giving credit but I never read them, and I came up with these (mostly) on my own.
NOTE: the damage examples I give are not representative of how much damage the weapon would do, but rather used as a comparison to show how much dmg different hits in the combo would do.
Second side note: everything is subject to change if someone suggests something better. Especially names, descriptions, and exact damage values. Descriptions marked with quotations are less likely to change.
Third side note: this is my first thread. Please don't hate too much. Be constructive. But please tell me if everything sucks.

START OF ACTUAL PROPOSAL:
As far as I am concerned, make this an entirely new class of weapon, not a sword. You could have clawlike gloves, boxing gloves, thin gloves, energy gloves, or... some other type of glove I can't think of. Idk, maybe big fluffy mittens.
The gloves would have a long combo made up of a series of punches. Very fast speed with low damage and range (shorter than swords), and the user would move a small distance forward with just about every hit. Keep in mind that these combos would only attack a SINGLE TARGET, and that without shield canceling the user CANNOT TURN while executing a combo. Even with autoaim. But, since you have to get so close and they do not deal a huge amount of knockback, as long as you don't stop this should not turn out to be much of a problem.
The charge animation looks like the "ready" stance in martial arts/boxing, body turned mostly sideways with both hands at chest height and balled into fists. You know, the one in DBZ. Movement speed is decreased while charging.
Much like how there are slow, medium and fast swords, 1-, 2-, 3-, 6- and multi-shot guns, and various types of bombs, there would be more than 1 type of gauntlets. The ones I have presented here display the "Standard" and "Claw" types. It's tricky to come up with ideas that don't make the gloves too much like swords, but I think these work. Suggestions welcome.
___EVERYTHING BELOW THIS LINE IS WEAPON IDEAS_____
- -STANDARD GLOVE TYPE--
Universal attributes:
-gloves. Padded, plated, on fire, whatever. Just standard gloves that you can punch quickly with. Fast speed.
- 6-hit combo. The first 4 attacks are a series of quick alternating hand punches that do low damage. The 5th attack is an uppercut that does more damage, but is slightly slower. The final attack is a hard punch to the stomach, knocking the target back 3 squares. This does the most damage, but is also slow.
-Example comparative damage: 5, 5, 5, 5, 10, 20
-Delay(seconds): .25, .25, .25, .75, .75
^ This means that there is a 3/4 second delay between the 4th and 5th attacks, as well as between the 5th and 6th. The delay between hits 1-4 is 1/4th of a second.
__Series 0: Proto Gloves__
-Part of the proto set.
I. [Proto Gloves (0*)]
-description:
-Deals normal damage
-Charge attack: 2 handed punch that deals AoE damage in a small forward cone. (Aka hits everything close and in front of you)
-Charge attack does 30 dmg
__Series 1: Combat Gloves Line [Phantonn]__
-these would be part of the standard set, along with cobalt armor, blast bomb, Calibur and blaster.
I. [Combat Gloves (2*)]
-description: "standard-issue knight training gloves."
-deals normal damage.
-Charge attack: super punch. Knocks target back 6 squares and has slight chance of inflicting minor stun on target.
- Charge attack does 30 dmg.
- Similar to the weapons in the rest of the "standard" set, the upgrades to this weapon would be simply more powerful versions of themselves with no mechanical change.
-Possible upgrade names: [padded combat gloves (3*)], [armored combat gloves (4*)]
__Series 2: insulated line___ [Gigaflame kind of]
- these would be the gloves that go with the basic elemental sets: brandish line, haze bomb line, and alchemer line.
I. [Insulated gloves (2*)]
-description: "a warm pair of gloves guaranteed to keep out whatever nature (or monsters) can throw at your hands - while you hit back."
-Deals normal damage
Charge attack: shock blast. Releases a burst of air strong enough to cause damage to opponents. Deals a small amount of knockback and has about twice the normal range. (1.5 times sword range)
-charge attack does 40? Damage.
-Splits into 5 upgrade paths like the brandish. I picked this because I like the idea of split upgrade paths rather than a bunch of weapons starting at 2*.
II-1. [Fiery fists (3*)]
-description: a pair of insulated gloves on fire. (This would not be the in-game description but I can't think of one right now)
-Deals elemental damage
-slight chance of minor fire on every hit
-Charge attack: a burst of fire erupts from the user's hands. Deals a small knockback.
-Charge attack does 30 dmg
-good chance of moderate fire on charge
-possible upgrade names: [flaming fists (4*)]
II-2. [Electrified fists (3*)]
-description: a pair of insulated gloves covered in blue electric sparks. (This would not be the in-game description but I can't think of one right now)
-Deals elemental damage
-slight chance of minor shock on every hit
-Charge attack: a burst of electricity erupts from the user's hands. Deals a small knockback.
-Charge attack does 30 dmg
-good chance of moderate shock on charge
-possible upgrade names: [charged fists (4*)]
II-3. [Frosty fists (3*)]
-description: a pair of insulated gloves with an aura of snowflakes. (This would not be the in-game description but I can't think of one right now)
-Deals elemental damage
-no status on each attack because freeze used in this way is either useless or way OP. (you would beat it away instantly if not paying attention, but if you do pay attention the chance of freeze is much too high, freeze being a powerful status.)
-Charge attack: a burst of freezing air erupts from the user's hands. Deals a small knockback.
-Charge attack does 30 dmg
-good chance of moderate freeze on charge
-Possible upgrades: [frozen fists (4*)]
II-4. [Darkened fists (3*)]
-description: a pair of insulated gloves covered in purple (dark energy) sparks. (This would not be the in-game description but I can't think of one right now)
-Deals elemental damage
-no status for shadow except curse, which will come later (also too OP)
-Charge attack: a burst of darkness energy erupts from the user's hands.
-Charge attack does 30 dmg
II-5. [Idk what to call this one (3*)]
-description: a pair of insulated gloves but better? (This would not be the in-game description but I can't think of one right now)
-Deals normal damage
-15% more damage than equivalent weapons of the same line (ex. if [Shadowed fists (4*)] do 100 dmg on 6th hit, these would do 115 dmg.)
-Charge attack: a burst of compressed air erupts from the user's hands.
-No status
-Charge attack does 40 dmg
-yes this is like the cautery sword only actually not as terrible, and with a full upgrade path
Note: the 5* variants of this weapon line would have a small cone around the area of the final attack with fair chance of inflicting strong [status], Except for the 5* shadow and normal variants. Also I'm not sure whether or not to use this charge attack b/c it feels like a brandish or proto sword charge.
--CLAW TYPE--
Universal attributes:
-Hand-mounted claws. Could be many spines like this, wolverine type claws, vanaduke type claws, just anything that looks like a claw and fits into the game lore kind of well. Medium speed.
- 6-hit combo. First two hits are a swipe diagonally upwards with left and right claws, fast speed and medium damage. 3rd strike is a two-handed inward swipe horizontally across the body, dealing more damage. The 4th and 5th strikes are very quick swipes (not sure in which direction), quicker than the first two hits but dealing slightly less dmg. The Final strike is a 2 handed strike directly downwards in a line, dealing the most damage.
-Example Comparative Damage: 7, 7, 10, 5, 5, 17
-Delay(seconds): .50, .75, .25, .25, .75
___Series 1: Thorn Series___
-this series would be an accompaniment to the snarbolax line sets purchasable from Brinks for frumious fangs. Deals piercing damage on basic combo and charge.
I. [Thornbush gloves (2*)]
-description: "a pair of gloves improved with the razor-sharp thorns of a bramble in the Gloaming Wildwoods."
-Charge attack: the player smacks hands on the ground, causing 3 spikes to erupt from the ground in a triangle formation in front of the player. The spikes are short, straight and brown.
-Charge atk does 25 dmg per spike
II. [Barbed Gauntlets (3*)]
-description: "gauntlets tipped with long, sharply filed thorns. Not recommended for shaking hands or high-fiving."
-Charge attack: the player slams his hands on the ground, pushing up 4 spikes in a diamond formation around the player. The spikes are taller, and crooked with darker brown on the tips.
-Charge atk does 25 dmg per spike
III. [Briar somethingies (4*)]
-description: gloves tipped with razor-sharp briars shaped into a claw.
-Charge attack: the player smashes his hands down on the ground, causing 5 lines of 3 spikes to come out of the ground. (Similar to giant lichen colony atk but shorter range.) These spikes look like three "branches" of a bramble bush in the clockworks tightly twisted together.
-Charge atk does 25 dmg per spike
IV. [Spike Slashers (5*)]
-description: heavy-duty gauntlets with claws created from entire bramble roots. One spine per glove.
-Charge attack: the player jabs the claws into the ground, causing 3 rings of spikes to pop up around the player 1, 3, and 5 squares away. The spikes are the same large, 2-tone brown spikes as in the 3* charge, but covered with smaller thorns.
-Charge atk does 25 dmg per spike
___Series 2: Poison Thorn Series___
-this series is identical to the Thorn series but it does less damage and inflicts slight chance of stronger poison each upgrade. The 2* and 3* version charges are green-tipped like the TSB, while the 4* charge has green thorns on the brambles and the 5* charge has both. Charge atk does 20 dmg per spike and increasing chance to inflict stronger poison each upgrade as well.
-Names: [poisonthorn gloves (2*)], [toxic barbs (3*)], [Vile Briar somethingies (<--again!) (4*)], [contaminated claws (5*)]
___Series 3: name pending__ (incomplete) [Dagunner]
V. [Snarbolax claws (5*)]
-description: "a pair of spiky gauntlets crafted from the needlelike fur of a snarbolax's coat. Included wrist guards to protect the user."
-Deals piercing damage.
-Last hit is accompanied by a biting snarbolax ala BTB charge, only smaller.
-Charge attack: powerful 1-handed swipe that creates a "sharp-claw-looking" air slash which travels through the target, knocking them back 1 square and inflicting piercing damage. Similar to the GF "bullet blade", but it does not stand still before zooming off. Can hit up to 2 times, once for the initial strike and once for the air slash.
- Charge does 30 dmg for the physical strike and 7 for each hit of the air slash.
___Series 4: fire claw series___ (incomplete)
-1*-4*: not sure how these would work...
-5* Vanaduke claws.
