Tev's Great Big Contest is over, but she'd love your feedback! Snubear! I finally finished your picture!

Sorry, but as soon as I finished my entry, my internet went down. Oh well.

Entry Title: Haven
Entry:
How bright. How beautiful.
How kind of those Strangers.
How warm. How inviting.
And the knights- so good-natured.
But who could imagine,
A whole world unseen?
A shifting surface,
Beneath our feet.
For this city is so charming,
And always so cheerful.
Below may be grim,
But this place remains blissful.
But there is something off,
And it dampens my day.
Where is the place,
Where our real home may lay?
From the rescue camp,
To as deep as The Core,
Other than Cradle,
I've seen nothing more.
Haven may be safe and bright and warm.
And it is all that I've known.
But there's one thing for certain.
This place is not home.

"I am so fired! Darn it! I still have the burn marks from last week!"

Working on my entry still.
I decided to start something serious instead of the silly shenanigans I had started.
Silliness can wait.
For waiters.
With pointy mustaches.
It should be up sometime within the next couple days, after which I plan to continue writing for my own story before I get more rage mail about how slow I am.

Your poem makes mine look like it was done by a kindergardener -_-. But good job :)

I didn't really think it was that good. It was one of my firsts. You guys are awesome.
@Papaya I really loved your poem, though. At first, I wasn't going to write anything, but your poem was my inspiration. I wanted to make a poem as great as yours. Thanks for the support.

Hey Tev,
I don't understand the rules for the week 3 contest 100%. Mainly for the mystery word. What do you mean by the "letters correspond with the boxes instead of the dashes". Basically, how do you use the words you've unscrambled (I've unscrambled all of them) to find the mystery word?
*Send me a message in-game if you don't feel comfortable posting it here*
Thanks
UPDATE: I found the mystery word, don't need to send me anything now :D

I'm off to see the Pit Boss,
The wonderful Pit Boss of Oz

The contest.
The excitement
The submissions,
the delightment
Who knows,
Who knows,
Who knows who will win?
The chances are slim
The odds just as grim
But what are contests for?
Not the prize
Not the pride
But for the fun
So remember
everyone

@Artistbma (#104)
Thanks, Art!
@Tevokkia (#105)
Going to update my entry now.

@Luguiru and Oatmonster: Thanks for the entries!
@Myqpalzm: Thanks for fixing that!

Please note that I have adjusted the names of the categories to be more clear; I should not have assumed that given the location of the contest and the description of the art categories, everyone would make the inference that entries for the writing and craft categories were also intended to be Spiral Knights-related. If you have already entered something non-SK in one of these categories, it's alright, but going forward SK only, please. If you have been working on something specifically for this contest for awhile now that does not relate to Spiral Knights and have not quite finished it, please speak to me privately to see whether an exception needs to be made.
Thank you!

Devilite: Oh crap, I gotta get home before fail hour!

If we win a prize, we receive only the prize that was first in our preferences, or at least you will try to give us that?
Ex: 5*- CR, CE, Solstice Box
In this example you would try to give us the crowns if I'm right. So we need to order them properly?

Yes, it would be helpful if they were ordered by your preference. I'll try to give everyone their first choice, but some things are harder to obtain than others, and those tend to be the things I only have one of. If you're indifferent to the ordering on some of them, feel free to say so, as it makes awarding easier for me.

Thank you. I've rearranged my preferences accordingly. Again, thank you for clearing that up. I understand that I may not get my first choice. The fact that I might get anything sound great to me. And I don't mean to sound like this is all I care about, because all of the entries have been excellent, and this has been a lot of fun.

Entry Title: The Legend of the Jelly Empire
Entry:
Long ago, in a faraway planet named Cradle, there existed a kingdom. A kingdom ruled by that of which we call gelatin. A so-called “Jelly” King and Queen ruled the land, smiting those who dared oppose them.
The gelatinous army was the single most powerful military force in Cradle. This story is about the fall of the Jelly Army, and the separation of the Royal Couple.
The jellies communicate through mind messages. Keep that in mind.
And so our story begins…
Boom!
Boom!
The Jellies broke through the door.
“Gremlins, to arms!” shouted a high-ranking member of the Gremlin Army. He grabbed a thwacker from his belt. “This is gonna get ugly.”
‘Attack!’ a jelly messaged.
The armada of cubes raced across the battlefield, eating their enemies.
“Help!” the gremlin general shouted. “Help! HELP! HE-“ the general was swallowed by a jelly.
Only twenty minutes after the general was killed, the battle was over. The Jellies had won. They always won.
The next day, the Jellies returned to the Royal Jelly Palace.
‘My King, we’ve wiped out the majority of the Gremlin Army.’ A jelly stated.
‘Perfect. We will soon have full dictatorship over Cradle,’ the great Jelly King himself messaged.
Another gigantic Jelly slid into the room. The Queen.
‘Hello darling. What brings you out here?’
‘I heard voices. I see the army has returned safely,’ the Queen messaged.
‘Indeed. Soon all the fighting will be over, and we will have won.’
‘I yearn for that day,’ the Queen commented.
But little did the Jelly King know was that after that attack the day before, the gremlins had decided to send small groups out to all the races on Cradle, with the intention of uniting them to destroy the Jellies.
And they succeeded. The Jellies had no idea that an army even more powerful than them was coming. To destroy them.
The next day, the Jelly King was strolling through the halls of the Palace when he heard a large bang at the huge doors.
‘Gellin, get over here,’ the King messaged.
‘Yessir?’ Gellin wondered once he had gotten over to his leader.
‘What’s that banging?’
Crash!
The double doors of the Palace blew apart. Gremlin thwackers and demos rushed in, followed by wolvers.
The Gate Guardians hurriedly started attacking the marauders.
‘Gellin! Get the rest of the guards!’ the Jelly King snapped.
The young Jelly ran to rally the army to defend the Palace.
Meanwhile, the Jelly King started squirming down the hall to see if his wife was alright.
He was relieved to find her sitting in her throne.
‘What’s wrong?’ she wondered.
‘We’ve been attacked. There are so many of them…’ the King answered. ‘We’ve got to escape.’
The Jelly King rummaged through a bureau. ‘Aha!’ he exclaimed. He pulled a small black box out of the bureau and laid it on the ground.
‘This is a family heirloom. It’s to be used for emergencies only. It will get us out of here.’
Just then, the doors of the throne room burst open.
The King turned the box on and a large black portal appeared.
‘That doesn’t look like the best place to go hide in.’ the Jelly Queen commented.
‘Would you rather we get killed?’
‘Good point.’ The Queen agreed.
“It’s over! Stand down or die!” a gremlin shouted.
The attacking army inched closer. And closer. A few more steps, and the King would be dead.
“As you wish. Attack!” the gremlin ordered.
The last thing the Jelly Queen saw before her husband pushed her in the portal was a valiant purple cube, fending off the army for his wife’s sake.
The Jelly King fell onto the box, smashing it. He would never see his wife ever again.
As the Jelly King writhed in pain on the floor, the army left the area. They had earned their freedom. But the King had earned nothing. In fact, he had lost things.
He lost his army, he lost his wife, and he lost his family’s most important heirloom.
And as the Jelly King sat there, crying, a husk of his old self, his wife changed.
The Swarm inside the portal had done something to her. She became ruthless, evil. She completely forgot about her husband. Her only mission now is to kill those who dare cross her path.
Both of the once dominant couple became mad at the world. The King, for the sake of losing his wife, and the Queen, for the sake of being plain mad.
And so the once great Jelly Empire had fallen.
And it would never get back up again.

Are you trying to make me cry *sniff* *sniff*, just take the crowns and get outta my head.
Ok, enough of that. Good job though =)

I'm gonna have to abandon my project for this :/ I'm stuck in a wee little bottomless pit called life, and don't have time to do anything. Good luck to you other guys!

Oh, sorry to hear that Ninza ("Flying" just didn't seem like a good short version of your name). One day you will be able to get out of your bottomless pit. And enjoy life as much as you can, but thanks for the encouragement =)

Artist, your entry Is amazing, I completely fell in love with it, how the swarm took over the jelly queen, great entry, you have exceeded me to great pleasure :D sorry to hear Ninza can't enter, maybe u could get time on weekends?

Hey guys; this week's game was pretty popular and I have a lot of correct answers, so I wanted to pose you a question: Since I had originally budgeted the CE for 1 winner each week (the mini-contest was a last-minute addition), I probably can't give out more than one or two prizes for each week's game, tops. On weeks with lots of correct answers, would you rather I draw for a single 100 ce prize, two 50 ce prizes, four 25 ce prizes, or 5 20 ce prizes? It's pretty much a choice between better odds of getting something, or a bigger prize when you do.

Tev.... Will u be accepting songfics? If so... Which of the contest categories does it fall under?

I had to go look up what a songfic even was. XD
Really, there aren't any Spiral Knights songs with lyrics, so I'm going to say no to that one.

Errrr... Who said i'd be using SK music? So.... Now u get it? If u still say no, thats ok.
I have a story idea using "Savin' Me" by Nickelback.... So... Yeah.
Just listen to the song, I found it pretty catchy, it tells a story, and it comes off as overall awesome. Trust me, it's pretty good

@Tev I'd say go with 5 winners: 20 ce. Really everyone deserves something, but I realize that you can't spread it too thin (as in 20: 5), and that you don't have an unlimited supply of ce. So this is really the best solution. Plus 25 is just a weird number for ce. With it you can get 2 elevator rides and then what? A single revive... In t2? Also, I could not for the life of ke figure out that puzzle. Oh well, better luck next time hopefully.
@Ninza Aww. So sad. I was really looking forward to your entry. Hope things get better soon.
@Art Nice story. I liked it a lot. I may write a story soon. I have a plot, characters, setting. All that's left is the hard part: writing it. Again, excellent work. Looking forward to your future works!

This contest is massive, props to you, Tev. Hope I'll get the chance to enter something!

ATTENTION GAME DEVS:
The devilites are too fat!
EXHIBIT A:
Henry D., late to a meeting for the fourth time this week.

@Kaiju: I honestly don't know how songfics work beyond the wikipedia article. If you can make it about Spiral Knights and write it so that I can barely tell the difference between it and any other piece of fanfic, you can enter it in one of the fanfiction categories.
Yttriu: Thanks for the input!
Snubear: Thanks! I hope you do too!
Blind-Frog and everyone else who has submitted captions so far: Thanks for participating!

Hey Tev, I saw some of your videos of "Speed edits" on youtube with paint. And I was wondering how the papaya did you do those?

I often do livestreams of my work, and my screen is recorded when I'm doing it. I take the videos made by the screen-capture software (Livestream Procaster, in my case), and speed it up with a video editing program. Lately I've been using the newest version of Windows Live Movie Maker, because for what I need it to do, it's the simplest and least glitchy program (and it's free). If the picture took me a long time to do and is in several videos, I can line them up in order and then speed them all up at the same time before saving them as one file.

"Snap! If I'm late to dinner, she'll make me wash the dishes!"

Oh, sorry for not being clear enough Tev,
I actually meant the drawings =) Not how you made the movie, but never mind =)

Oh, and the question you posted in post 181.
I think that it would be nice to give 20CE to 5 winners for this contest. For more harder contests like searching through the forums for something (especially counting, I hate counting) or anything else that is like looking for a needle in a haystack [today in Design Technology we really did lose a needle for sewing, the teacher made us TRY and find it]. Perhaps next time you can increase the number of words for the "unscramble the word" games. Or jumble them up with other things (not sure myself, your choice)

Okay peeps! Winners for last week have been chosen and new games are up!
If you're on this week's winning list and your IGN is different from your forum name, let me know so that I don't send your prize somewhere weird!

do abbreviations count in the word search? Things like CR and ATH? If so, I'll have to redo the entire thing...

Nope, there are no abbreviations.
EDIT: Fixed a few things on the game description. It was late and I was sleepy when I edited it from last week.
Oh shoot! If I don't get to work early the boss is gonna kill me!
