Make a Poison Brandish

So I was thinking about the brandishes and I was wondering if we can make a new type of brandish. So we can have all kinds of types of brandishes. I just want to add them because I don't think the brandish series is complete.

The details are listed here.

Poisonburst brandish.

Types of brandishes.

2*-Brandish
3*-Poisonburst brandish
4*-Toxicbrand
5* Purgilence

Good chance of causing strong Poison.
Level 5: Charge Time Reduction: Low
Level 10: Charge Time Reduction: Medium

Some possible UV's
Damage vs Slimes: High

I can't think of any, so thats my detail so far.

How the hell are curse and

How the hell are curse and poison almost the same? Curse is incredibly powerful, to the point where it's incredibly difficult to balance on most anything, and poison is a pitifully weak status on mobs.

So I was thinking about the forums and I was wondering if we can make a new type of post. Either Poison or Curse (Because both are almost the same. Stun/Sleep posts would be the same as locking a thread). So we can have all kinds of types of posts. I just want to add them because I don't think the rules allow for this.

I apologize if that seemed harsh in any way, but there are several things about your post that irk me.

  1. Luguiru's thread was on the front page at the time of your post
  2. Your post contains hardly any content in regards to how the weapon will work. It's not as simple as saying, "slap this status on this set of swords." Things such as damage type, amount of damage, and status duration must be taken into consideration.
  3. "Either Poison or Curse (Because both are almost the same."
    This is just...no. Poison inflicts zero damage unless the afflicted enemy attempts to heal in some way. However, Poison lowers afflicted enemies' strength and defense. Curse inflicts damage each time the afflicted enemy attacks a knight (except for Lumbers, because they're messed up). Curse does not affect enemies' damage statistics. One thing to chew on while considering Poison and Curse statuses is the fact that there is a Poison-based Vaporizer, but not a Curse-based one - and that's not because the statuses are the same. Curse is largely considered to be the most powerful status in the game, whereas Poison and Stun are often considered the weakest.
  4. "Stun/Sleep brandishes would be the same as a iceburst brandish"
    Again, no. Stun brings a plethora of possible effects with it, including (but not limited to) double attacks, slower enemy movements, faster attacks, and slower attacks. Sleep causes an enemy to stay completely still, and prevents them from attacking. However, Sleep also causes afflicted enemies to heal at some point during their slumber. Freeze also stops enemies from moving entirely, but still allows them to attack. Stun-, Sleep-, and Freeze-based Brandishes would definitely not be the same.

    While I appreciate your manners and your good intentions, negativity and rage are inevitable.

Oh? He made a suggestion about a poison brandish? That's nice. I didn't know he did, but I'm sure that I didn't know.

Hey look, a Brandish without a status that has exactly the same damage values as other Brandishes!
That could do with a status, huh?

idk, i just want them to make it yet another elemental brandish like the others, pros for it would be supportive status, and the only other elemental one to be able to send enemies across the full charge attack.

Acheron could do with a little more love; it gets the same damage as the elemental versions do, except it doesn't get a status to back it up. Giving it poison would be fitting, given that it has an aura of corruption about it.
We already have three elemental Brandishes, and elemental weapons are by far the most common type. Having another one for the sole purpose of inflicting poison status seems... redundant, somehow.

This is silly

A poison branch for Brandish makes as much sense as a stun one. Which is none.

The status branches which currently exist for Brandish are active; fire, freeze, and shock. If you threw a vial with any of those statuses at something it has an active effect and will deal damage without anything else happening. Stun technically is also an active status because it does not need anything to trigger its delaying effect, though as broken as it is, but poison is a passive status which requires something else to happen for the status to do anything. Curse is also a passive status because if you are inflicted with curse and just stand there nothing will happen. Passive statuses are "support" as well as statuses which do not deal damage (poison technically increases incoming damage but does not deal damage itself). Brandish is an active effect based weapon for elemental relevant statuses. It is not a support weapon. It is not a sidearm weapon. It is a primary offense kind of weapon. Unless you are being as silly as I am, you took that Brandish with you into battle to use it.

Since Nightblade does not have a status its damage should be slightly higher than the status inflicting branches, whether by its own damage increased or the other branches lowered. Look at Alchemers.

Adding poison to the Acheron. Otherwise a normal damage brandish with poison could work.....but would be another second rate weapon like any normal damage sword. Would be a fun toy tho. Or even a weaker pierce brandish with a poison on it.

None of these are really needed, and if we're added would require correct balancing by OOO. I won't be so presumptuous to tell them how to balance their weapons and gear, as I am sure they have their own algorithms they use.

Basically, I'm all for new toys. Elem toothpicks, pierce brandish or sealed sword, poison brandish or sealed. Whatever, bring them on, as long as they are balance and fun to use.

To that extent, sure wish they'd continue balancing the gear we got, one buff wasnt enough to my sudaruska and the shards still need a lot of work.

But yeah, new toys yes please, and make my old toys more viable while they are at it
