UV Rolling with Punch

Tonight I decided to do some UV rolls. I decided to roll an Electron Vortex and the BTS line shields since I don't use any other shield. What I ended up doing was using 300k crowns worth of single UV rolls on both items.

Results on the Electron Vortex was:
Low: 12
Med: 2
High : 1

Charge Time Reduction: 0
Damage vs: 15

Now I know you can get CTR on Bombs from Punch because my Stagger Storm and RSS (prenerf) has ctr. Though I have also poured 500k into rolling with Tempest a few months back and not getting a single CTR also. So I believe that CTR on Bombs has a lower chance of appearing then on Swords and Guns from Punch.

Now the BTS line shields

Low: 7
Med: 6
High: 2

None of the UVs were resistance. I heard once that you can't roll resistance UVs from Punch on shields or it may just have an extremely low chance but I can't recall ever getting resistance on a shield roll.

I am interested in knowing if anyone else has results like this on the bomb/shield lines. I believe I finally have enough reason to just invest my crowns into CE or just buying the UVs I want straight from other players... sad to say I haven't seen any ctr electron line vortexes on the AH lately to just buy it straight up.

Shields

Shields.

I don't know what resists you mean. I rolled elemental high on a Skelly shield from punch, normal med a few times and other such damage resistances do you mean status resistances?

Bombs

Bombs, unlike other weapons have a greater change of damage vs due to no asi. Though you roll ctr, it is easier and sometimes cheaper to buy it.

In the old days, you could

In the old days, you could roll a status UV on shields. (Like Shock, Fire, etc.)

This is no longer the case though, so shields will always net you one of the 4 main defense types if you roll a UV on them.

This was done to add results to those researching UV rolls. Also resistance = fire/shock/etc and Defense = Shadow/Elemental/Normal/Pierce.
If anything I believe the UV rates are different depending on what item class you are rolling. In short I am saying that CTR is harder to roll on a bomb then it is to roll on a sword or gun. Though these results help made me realize to never roll UVs with Punch again and just turn my crowns into CE since I don't plan to be on Spiral Knights forever.

Way too small of a sample

Way too small of a sample size to reach that deduction.

For all you know you could have rolled two CTRs right after 15. Unless you have a sample size of 100+ there's not really much you can assume.

Sample size

A sample size of 30 on one item type can give a general approximation for statistical analysis.

I did mention in my first post that at one point I used 500k (single UV) on rolls on my Tempest and didn't see a single ctr. Same as I just used 300k on electron vortex and didn't get a single ctr. I did get ctr low on RSS but not after using 200k worth of rolls on it. All this in over the course of the last 4 months I believe it is safe to say the chances or getting ctr from Punch on a bomb is lower than the chance of getting ctr on a gun or sword. I found myself getting CTR at a rather fair rate when working on my Voltedge which I finished.

I wanna rock your body and pop some rose

My simple calculations looking at stats:

Shields (Best item to roll on):

Possible Uv's:

Low: Piercing, Normal, Shadow, and Elemental
Medium: Piercing, Normal, Shadow, and Elemental
High: Piercing, Normal, Shadow, and Elemental
Max: Piercing, Normal, Shadow, and Elemental

Guns/Swords:

Damage Bonus:

Low: Beast, Gremlin, Undead, Fiend, Construct, and Jelly
Medium: Beast, Gremlin, Undead, Fiend, Construct, and Jelly
High: Beast, Gremlin, Undead, Fiend, Construct, and Jelly
Very High:Beast, Gremlin, Undead, Fiend, Construct, and Jelly

Asi/Ctr:

Low:
Medium:
High:
Very High:

Bombs:

Low: Beast, Gremlin, Undead, Fiend, Construct, and Jelly
Medium: Beast, Gremlin, Undead, Fiend, Construct, and Jelly
High: Beast, Gremlin, Undead, Fiend, Construct, and Jelly
Very High:Beast, Gremlin, Undead, Fiend, Construct, and Jelly

Ctr:

Low:
Medium:
High:
Very High:

Armors/Helms:

Low: Shadow, Normal, Piercing, Elemental, Fire, Shock, Curse, Freeze, Poison, Stun
Medium: Shadow, Normal, Piercing, Elemental, Fire, Shock, Curse, Freeze, Poison, Stun
High: Shadow, Normal, Piercing, Elemental, Fire, Shock, Curse, Freeze, Poison, Stun
Max:Shadow, Normal, Piercing, Elemental, Fire, Shock, Curse, Freeze, Poison, Stun

Side-note there is really no way to predict or come close to a possible # per a max uv, ctr, asi, etc. I rolled over 800 times in this game, and I have a friend who did about 100 times, but to this very day I rolled more than him on sealed swords, but he got more Asi Vh's and Ctr Vh's sealed swords than I have ever rolled. From what I get out of your rolling experience is you had horrible luck.

It is all based on your luck. I rolled 50+ times on a bomb got no ctr, and then just roll 1 time a month later on the same bomb I received ctr high.

How I got CTR on EV

By a combination of crafting Electron Charge (100 Mist + 100 CE each) and UV rolling (20k each). I think I ended up getting it from UV rolling but that was after 1.5 months of continuous crafting and rolling. The trick is to work out a budget that would net you 100 CE and 20k every day.

It's not difficult if you have elevator pass and an alt, and sell off any UV'd Electron Charge on AH. Save the non-UV Electron Charge you crafted for UV rolling.

But yea... max CTR on EV is very effectively. Any serious bomber and swordie should consider getting one.

hmm.

i rolled once on my lightning capacitor and got ctr vh. XD

of course, i already had a lightning capacitor with ctr vh, so now its just setting in my inventory waiting for someone to blow me away with an offer. Historically, i have found that i get ctr UVs on bombs just as often as i do on swords or guns, i just rolled on them much less.

And personally, i find that vh ctr has happened about 5-to-1 for me when rolling on swords. could just be coincidence, but i've rolled about 10-12 vh ctr weapons and about 2-3 asi vh.

Heck, even 100 is comparatively tiny given how many options there are on most things. I'd think 1000 would be the minimum.

Better get to pooling your info. Probably have more luck in the arsenal too.

I'm sure that is very meaningful data indeed.

A very nice, and relatively

A very nice, and relatively large, UV rolling data set was posted a while back. http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/43427

Rough UV rolling percents are as follows:

~67% - Low
~22% - Med
~7.5% - High
~3% - Very High/Max (name is dependent on item getting the UV)

For guns/swords divide any of those by 8 to get the rough odds for a certain UV (ex. High CTR has a .937% chance).
Bombs divide by 7 (ex. VH CTR is .428%).
Armor/helms divide by 10 (ex. High Shock is .75%).

Shields are the oddity, only getting defense UVs, which is either good or bad, pending on what you want. If you want say Max Fire it makes the UV exceedingly rare and hard to get since it can't be rolled (and impossible to get on Ancient Plate). If you want Max Piercing then it is much, much easier. Max Piercing on a shield, for example, has rough odds of .75%.

If you are looking for a certain UV while rolling the odds are always against you. A given UV type (CTR, vs Gremlin, vs Fiend, etc) on a bomb is roughly 14.28%, meaning 14-15 out of 100 rolls will be CTR... that is not even counting the UV level.

I'm done doing math for the night. Cheers!
