Because then people can show appreciation to the guild for their work or whatever.
Also I can't think of anything that would make this bad, other than someone pressing the wrong buttons three times and making a hefty donation accidentally.

Coo, thanks for commenting. Never really thought of that tbh.
Ok then... Well, this idea is possible, although it would be considered a very minor patch, because chances are it would be barely used, but it still would be useful to two guilds who r very close
Yeah, I don't expect them to expressly add it, just a side thing to consider.
+1 to this idea!
I like visiting some friends (who sometimes have very new guilds, not newb just with t1/2 players mostly). They can't afford to run vana, or JK sometimes so 30k per 7 days is near impossible for them.
It'd be nice if I could deposit 20k crowns or so in their treasury. 20k is not much for longtime players, but for a new player in wolver gear, it's 1-2 weeks work.
Giving it to the GM is ok...but it would be much nicer if we could deposit it direct into the treasury, so we know it'll be used for GH stuff, instead of the GM or member just pocketing the money. We don't need to see how much is in the treasury, just a blank 1 way button would be lovely :)
Fairly certain this was discussed in my thread. If I remember correctly, the problem is that people would use it to...
1) Ripoff newbies.
2) Force people to give a donation before someone invited them to the Guild, which may result in them getting ripped off as well if the GM doesn't fulfill his promise.

I agree with severage, those were my primary concerns about this idea
Make an option to make it anonymous, or make them anonymous by default. I see no reason why people shouldn't be able to donate of their own will, if they see a particularly jazzy GH; people are chilling in ours all the time, so surely they like it, but are loyal to their own guild. Most of the time it'd be more of a token gesture: "cool GH, have 1k"~
Forcing people to donate pre-invite? Well, that's an option already; don't invite someone till they give you money to put into the GH. A visitor donation window won't change that one way or the other.
Not that you'd really want to join a guild that extorts players anyways...
As always, your arguments are beyond what I typically see.
However, I find it more likely that a newbie would be like "Oh, the GM can only use this for the guild? Why not donate before I get invited?" unbeknownst to him that the GM won't invite him, than to be like "No, you won't spend it on the guild", still ignorant of the fact that he wouldn't get invited.
Just saying. Many newbies (Even me way back when) try to be money-smart on games and end up getting burned by a simple overlook anyway. This just opens up another opportunity.
Also, if you trust another guild enough to donate to it aside from your own, or are giving a Guild Master of a jazzy GH, who clearly has enough money, just 1K as a gesture, I think you can trust him to put it in the Vault himself.

Well one thing that would help to get around the scamming would be that if you donate more than 1k, the treasury sends you a guild invite.
You can set requirements for who can and can't donate based on certifications earned, e.g. 1*, 2* etc..., so that you don't have people of lower gear joining the guild.
You can also set it to not send invites to donors, but the donor will receive a message saying something along the lines of "You are about to donate to [guild name]. Your donation cannot be taken back, even by a GM. [Guild name] has closed invitation, by donating you understand that you will not recieve a guild invitation. Donate anyways? [_] Never show this message again."
Hmm... but then you can always just kick those members. Someone build on this idea some more! D:
^ could be a solution, but honestly I just don't see it as a problem. I could be wrong entirely, but I just can't see it as something that'll be a wide issue in game. Large guilds won't even notice small token donations from single people and requesting 1k donations for invites will do virtually nothing to aid in the form of upkeep; you'd need to scam countless people for it to make any difference, by which point you'd surely make a name for yourself as a guild that's not to be trusted or joined.
Perhaps small guilds will do it, but even with a 50k upkeep, small donations won't count for much, and I don't see anyone willingly making substantial donations just to get an invite. Why allow yourself to be extorted of 50k for an invite to a guild that clearly has little respect for potential recruits, when you could simply apply to another guild that treats people better? Donations and upkeep should be paid willingly, and visitor donations would be mainly a token gesture; less about helping actually pay for upkeep and more for just showing their appreciation to the guild, or even just as a thanks for allowing them to visit and spend time within the GH.
Like I say, they could implement this and it could turn into a huge problem, I could be completely wrong. But looking at it now, I just can't see that as likely, is all I'm saying. Who knows, though~
Perhaps an option would be to just limit how much visitors are able to donate? Even a modest 10k cap with an hourlong cooldown would prevent any meaningful loss from potential scam victims. If they want to donate over and over and over, then that's really as much their fault as someone putting all their cr into an empty trade window~
A guild leader can already ask for money before sending invitations or attempt to kick you.
Forcing people to donate wont be a new problem but provide a nice interface for it :p
You can implement it as a sort of "tip jar", an option that non-members can access from that guild's command console so they can anonymously leave some cr if they want to.
The platypus has a better idea, I think. A tip jar would be a pretty neat feature, actually...

I'm confused; isn't that just....exactly the same as the original suggestion?
I was referring to foregoing the vault altogether with a small separate deposit system that is connected to the vault.
I'd think it would be easier for someone to give a GM money in a trade rather than put something in a "Tip Jar" to get in. I mean, who hires someone for giving tips? Iunno, the vernacular just makes it seem less likely someone would be fooled.
I like the tip jar being anonymous too.
I'm probably over-thinking all of this though - this isn't RuneScape where there are hundreds of thousands of people and 10% of the population is victim to scamming of some sort.
~Sev
Anon-ness would be good.
Inclusive of not recording amounts put in, just total at the time.
So people can't be all -high-and-mighty about how nice they're being and how much the guild owes them.
Apparently everyone else had a different idea than me to begin with, because that's how I saw it from when I first read it; s'why I mentioned anonymity and was surprised when scamming was mentioned as a potential problem~
*shrug*
Either way; the idea is there, we seem to all agree upon it, in one form or another~
Exactly! Just, without the song.
Anyone realize that the mini-game anchor link is called "#ClubPenguin"? Nobody?
Ah, subtle comedy.
~Sev
It would kinda be a useless option, as if the player was truly loyal, they would donate only to their own guild... You could always just give the money to the guild leader to show appreciation :P
