Hello !

Example : on an azerty keyboard, you get character "1" by pressing Shift+"&".

Usual way to do that : Press Shift - Press & - Release & - Release Shift
It works fine, it writes "1" !

When typing quickly on keyboard : Press Shift - Press & - Release Shift - Release &
Here is the bug !!
It acts like if the "1" key was stick, constantly repeating "111111111111111111...etc...".

To fix that, i have to switch to desktop and then go back to the game.
It doesn't happen when typing uppercase letters, but only with numbers and "?./"

I know a lot of players encountered this problem and it's very annoying.
Please team, could you correct this ?
It seems so easy to do, tell me if you need help ;)

Thanks a lot, bye

(I'm using Linux)

Don't worry, everyone who has

Don't worry, everyone who has been playing this game for a while should know how this bug looks. Players affected are getting tired of this "minigame" and some don't bother to delete / retype any more... just lean back, fire away all the special characters that pop up before you are able to hit that key again (to make it stop)... and maybe when enough people stop retyping over and over and over again to keep SK chat clean at the expense of their own time & nerves, someone will finally try to fix this (or not :/ ).

Don't take this so serious, but maybe it's true...

The problem is, that you mentioned "Linux" in these threads. When a multi platform game developer reads "Linux" in a bug report, he marks it read, closes the tab and never looks at it again. Why would he bother with Linux. Even if users of other platforms have the exact same problem - and write so - the thread is already losted foreva.
Being a developer myself, when a colleague would ask me about this thread/ticket, I'd answer that it is somehow related to Linux and we should adjust the system requirements to no longer contain Linux* to fix the issue and continue working on real problems.

Also, i have the ultimate workaround: Don't chat. Chat just distracts you from playing perfectly, anyways. :P

*) ... and the Term "Windows ... or higher", because virtually everything is "higher" than Windows, from the perspective of an enthusiast of any operating system.

Hey everyone.
Remember, the Forums are for you to get help from other users. For an official response from OOO, please submit a support ticket or an in-game bug report when the problem occurs.

Part of the problem with Linux is that it comes in many, many flavors. Saying you use Linux is like saying you drive a car----in order for anyone to help you, they need to know your specific make and model. I personally am not a Linux expert, but I think it might help people more skilled than I if they knew what distro and version of Linux you were using.

Half of my bug reports are

Half of my bug reports are either about the key repeat bug or *contain* "examples" of the key repeat bug, because I'm even worse avoiding to trigger it when writing english.

A lot of people have postet details. I don't think those are needed though: As far as we know by now, this happens to EVERYONE not using Windows. Noone showed up when I asked around for someone who doesn't have Windows AND doesn't have key repeat bug ;). So my guess would be: SK is using a function / feature in an unintended way that happens to work for Windows due to a "bad /workaround implementation" or something like that.

If it was a strictly SK bug,

If it was a strictly SK bug, it would affect Windows users as well. OSX and Linux are both Unix based, but OSX is based on BSD, which is a different kernals, so the bug would have to be related to the APIs in LWJGL and how it interacts with the OS. Since Windows has DirectInput always available, the APIs will call to that on Windows. In Unix based OSs its obviously going to be different.

I did a bit searching, and stumbled on this from back in 08, and this being a bit more recent. This one is either confusing or enlightening.... not sure which though.

Its been around for a long time, never seems to be completely resolved, and is deeply rooted in the Unix key handling behavior. One guy mentioned cobbling a key filter into the program, but who (other then the devs) knows what methods are already in place.

This bug still exists for all

This bug still exists for all Platforms and OSes. So it's probably not related to what Starlinvf posted.
