How to Balance Mission Payouts

Step 1: Take the average CR payout of each mission and put it into the existing mission reward.

Step 2: Remove all the CR drops from the monsters in the missions.

Now tou can't do RJP without beating JK or you get no money.

To get your shares, you need to fully do it.

Or go via arcade and create a gate.

This would work if it weren't for that one factor Benightz mentioned. People would skip as much as they can, blitz the boss (literally Blitz in the case of Vana), and still get a decent amount of crowns.

A better way would be to make the end reward payout you mentioned less than the average. Players then can make up the rest by killing all the enemies, but if they don't go through and kill the boss they would be severely nerfing their payout.
Then you could always make the boss missions daily as well, since that tends to be a favorite idea around these parts. Combined with a fixed payout that you NEED to beat the mission for, this would make people actually beat the mission which would lock it out for a day. Then if they wanted more Crowns they need to delve into the Clockworks or do other missions.
While this adds a lot more variety to gameplay, it could lead to a lot of unhappy players. To avoid a lot of rage from dedicated FSC and other mission level runners, the Arcade payouts would need to be buffed a little in some way. This holds especially true for Candlestick Keeps and Treasure Vaults, since they're actively avoided for having such a low profit for their difficulty/rarity.

How's that sound?

I don't think you understand what I am suggesting. Let me put it this way; right now, the mission reward for completing the mission "The Sovereign Slime" is 100 prestige, and 1 Jelly Gem. What I'm proposing is to change that to 100 prestige, 1 Jelly Gem, and whatever the cr payout for completing the mission right now is. Then you remove the CR drops from enemies within the mission. That way, you only get the cr reward for completing the mission once, and then you go back to the arcade.

So we get a fixed rate of crowns now? Then of course, I would skip killing some monsters then.

What about joining halfway? Do the knights still get their rewards? Or if you have to leave halfway or disconnect halfway, do you still get crowns? Flaw has been identified, suggestion terminated.

The missions are content too. Making them lack a payout entirely would greatly restrict players from legitimately replaying them, which is something that I enjoy to do very much.

Why do we need to nerf the mission pay out? we all know the only things that illegitimately get grind-ed are bosses for tokens and some missions for events (alone in the dark ect). Instead I counter with an offer that I feel is more fair.
Increase the pay out of arcade.
1) make it you won't have the same revive cost from the last floor in arcade. either have it reset or go down 1 or 2 levels.
2) Have a crown and or heat bonus be given to players who get through the level with out dying.
3) Have what I will call a "Explores reward" were every time you reach a cross road or a tire point you have your total crowns earned on the current run increased by a percent (5% for tire 1. 10% for tire 2. 15% tire 3 or some thing.)

that is really all I can suggest.

Why do we need to nerf the mission pay out?

because the arcade should be the main feature. so, if we want to boost rewards for the arcade, it must be a lot or it would do nothing. but nerfing missions is simplier and faster, so we nerf missions.
also, I don't think you really want a drop from a mission that is not a boss. oh, I forgot black kats. well, those are special.

You used a perfect example to prove your idea is faulty. RJP has one extra room on the second level. Why do it if I'll get the same rewards anyways. Sure I'll miss 4 green boxes, wich always drop useless vials :p

This get even more serious with d25 of FSC.

I think Juan is hinting something else.

Does the total payout include all four rooms? If so, then if you skip one, should it decrease?

In D25, there is a similar scenario with sprites.

*Goes back looking for a Turteel in Outernauts.

Well if the problem its Players doing speed runs to get full pay out why no then give the mission a hidden counter which will count how many cr players got from the mission?

Sure monsters and boxes will still drop the crowns BUT it wont get added to players crown wallet. instead will be added to that hidden counter, So at the end of the mission they will get what they gather form the run and this way players wouldnt make speed runs to get full payout. they will still give a bit of effort to get their crowns and this way they dont get the pay out if they dont complete the mission.

@Klipik, Because in this version, you still get all other non cr drops (including things like heat, mats, and tokens), and elevators aren't free.

What if one of the following happen during a mission?:
-You get disconnected (due to various reasons, such as, reboots, updates, internet problems,etc)
-You have to leave before hand due to [reason here]

The second one happens a lot to me >.< If you leave before you finish the mission, than you don't get any crowns right? Wouldn't this be unfair for people who constantly encounter the problems I mentioned earlier?

For those naysayers

Oaty is asking that you get paid for the mission 1 time only, any repetition would only give mats and heat (unless you want tokens). it's really simple to understand.
I'd ask this for boss missions, the others are actually in-line with arcade on the cr curve for yhe most part. (gauntlet's payout is better, but it's also a pain in the neck)

Yes, I like it very much. However, I'll verify...again...on what's being suggested:

  • Average of enemy cr gain is set as a mission reward, excluding prize boxes
  • Enemies no longer drop crowns.
  • Enemies still drop mats, hearts, etc.
  • Prize boxes stay the same
  • This applies to rank (maybe expansion too?) missions only

Note that the mission reward is only given once, just like you get prestige once. When completing missions for the first time, you already make sure to join only at the start, so this isn't a problem. If you've already completed a mission, you can join at any time, and you won't notice anything different from starting from the first level because you've already gotten your reward.

This is a great solution because it doesn't deprive players going through the game of their crowns, and at the same time prevents grinding missions.

I just love it when new players don't know that missions didn't used to exist, and you had to spend 90 energy to do one vana run because you had to get to it first.
P.S: this will lower the cost of CE because it takes more CE to get crowns. So it balances out.

This would be a pretty effective way to eliminate FTP players. Before missions, I was perpetually stuck in Tier 1, with no hope of advancing. So, you know what I did? I stopped playing the game entirely. Recently, I started playing again, and I'm glad that missions exist. If it hadn't been for the sort of level grinding you're trying to discourage with this, I'd still be stuck in Tier 1. In the space of just over a week, I was able to upgrade my armor by 2 star ratings, and actually enjoy the game again.

I got to T2 pretty easily before missions... I even remember depositing minerals into gates to get the construct stratum theme so I could get swordstone for my Calibur O_O I guess if you don't like the prospect of not grinding and how much it'll slow progression, then that's your choice if OOO decides to do this.

P.S. I still don't exactly support this suggestion.

@Rogdon, Getting from t1 to t2 is literally the easiest gap to cross. If you were smart about it, you could literally do it in two days. I'm not sure you should be participating in talks about balance.
