Upgrading the Cautery Sword!

Come on, give the cautery sword a chance. How about the cautery sword can be crafted so it would have a little shadow damage? (I said a LITTLE.) Or, it could have a status effect like poison, stun, or sleep. Maybe, it could have a higher damage bonus against slimes! The sword is COMPLETELY useless if it can't upgrade! (The swift strike buckler should upgrade, too!)

Be safe out there, fellow knights!

Cautery sword

As much as I'd like to use it, it is quite a waist of time. The swift strike buckler is good but should have a T3 line or upgrade of some sort. I agree but still think nothing will change.

I don't understand...

Why did SK make the cautery sword if its purpose was taken by the night blade?!

???

Either way it will be useless.

Either we leave it there as a joke weapon, or do we risk making Brandishes more of the used line by adding stun to compensate>

Cautery sword needs to be turned into a completely new weapon or just remove it from the game.
It's original idea just doesn't fit.

Acheron or Leviathan or any non-piercing sword can kill slimes swiftly without much problems anyways.

Go to sleep, little slime.

How about we give it the status effect Sleep? We don't have any sleep weapons!
P.S. Luguiru, are you reading this?

Be safe,

No sleep weapons EVER

OOO will never add sleep in for weapons. IDK why, but they don't. I got a Cautery Sword for Christmas, and it really is terrible.

Cautery is on my hit list after all the other Brandishes get theirs, which I know exactly what I want to write and have no excuse for not putting it up already, but anything I would think of for Cautery is almost guaranteed to involve completely changing its charge attack to no longer have the series of multiple explosions as a source of damage. If you ask me Cautery should be a completely independent alchemy line as more of a support weapon than the ranged explosive vomiting pixie wand it currently is chained and shackled to.

That fiend rebalance is almost done, way the by. The only thing left is Pit Bosses and I already gave them something crazy so it should be up soon. But then I have to go back and recheck everything. Solids.

If we want to go with non-crazy-or-anything-I-would-consider-thinking-of changes, making it a pure normal line would be the most likely thing for Nick and friends to do. It may not satisfy anyone who paid/worked to get it, but it makes it sort of more useful than it used to be and requires minimal effort to do.

Softhead, the Cautery sword IS a brandish. I agree with Luguiru, Cautery SHOULD be an independent alchemy line. Maybe there should be a recipe that you can buy with jelly gems(so you could use the rock salt). But, they should do more than "Damage bonus v.s. slime:medium".

As Lug said, really, the best way to fix it is to start from scratch with it. Make it its own alchemy line, upgrade it, figure out what kind of damage would be best for it, crunch some numbers, and probably change its charge. It just can't stand up to the other brandishes, and really shouldn't. In order to re-engineer it to better suit its original purpose, we need to model it by itself, not line it up against other swords that serve completely different purposes. All in all, it needs fixing before it can be upgraded. Now, whether or not OOO will fix it and give it an upgrade is a whole other question. Lets just hope they do.

Well, at least...

Well, at least they should make 4 and 5* versions of the cautery sword, like the cold Iron Carver.

My suggestion is that Cautery Sword's only change is from pure normal to split Shadow/Elemental, making it one of the best 3* weapons for Royal Jelly Palace. Actually, it's Darkbrady's idea. But I totally agree.

That's a great idea,

But would Three Rings ever except a split damage like that? If so, the damage in the Royal Jelly Palace would be this:

Construct(timber and gun puppy): Neutral(shadow)+weak(elemental)=HALF-WEAK
Fiend(silk wing): Neutral(elemental)+strong(shadow)=HALF-STRONG
Slime(jelly cube, lichen): Neutral:(elemental)+weak(shadow)+weak(damage bonus v.s. slime)=WEAK

Keep thinking,

New Idea.

How about we put more normal damage, AND take out the extra slime damage?
OR put more elemental damage on that? (Like the Prismatech Alchemecher.)

P.S. I didn't think this topic would of been commented on so much! (I made this topic THREE MONTHS AGO XD)

The point of the cautlerly

The point of the cautlerly sword was to give new players a cheap and easy to make weapon to help deal with the slime boss you derps. It does not need an upgrade.

DERP. O_O

The nightblade does a better job at killing the slimes than the cautery sword. DERP. O_O

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

This is exactly why I love Magikarp.

The Cautery Sword is there to show players more on how valuable powerful weapons are. So are other wimp weapons. Btw, Cautery is a great first RJP grinding tool. If it's your first 3* weapon, it will also be valuable at Silkwings, so you could take it and be efficient at killing slimes at the same time. Once you get more 3* things, it's worthless, but a friend of mine found his very useful.
