((Edited my part in Azure's response. Iris really wants to dissect everyone in the room... she really wants to dissect them...))
Finder's Keepers [discussion thread]
Our characters' stories are very disjointed. I'd like to make a request: when writing a story addition, please refer to the last edit in your character's chapter and write directly off of it. Next time, I'll have to find a different method of storytelling, because this system is not optimal for keeping up with current events.
Sorry for the lateness (again), I've been on a roadtrip as I said earlier. Also, I followed your most recent post in my most recent entry. I'll think of something that can make this story layout a little better.
Oh, and sorry for the memory loss aspect I just left out of my application and suddenly put in the story. If there's anything wrong with it, I can certainly edit it out. And if anything else is a plot hole or not something that is fitting to be in the story, tell me and I'll take care of it as well.
Sorry for the next late response, I'm on a road trip as I already explained ^^
"My name is Iris, and I'm glad to make friends with you Amarynth!", she answered. She seemed pretty friendly.
"Follow me, I know a safe pla-" We both stiffened as we heard a movement, and I crouched behind Iris as she held her Flourish in a defensive position. Suddenly, a Gremlin uncloaked. A gremlin. Something inside my head made me really... scared? I don't know. I've never known or even fought a Gremlin, I just read about them in books, which said they were friendly. So why was I scared? Maybe it was something in my childhood. The childhood I can't remember? It can't be...
"Tell me, do you know anyone by the name of Auger?", Iris asked the Gremlin eventually. I couldn't hear the rest, as I was distracted by something else to my left.
I look over in that direction, and see a Knight collapsed on the ground. I rush over to him while Iris and the gremlin are speaking and check him. He's feverish, and seems to be muttering. I put a small layer of ice on his head to cool him off and send a small energy pulse throughout his body to try to wake him up. It seems to work. He moans a little, and opens his eyes.
"Hey, hey, what happened? Are you alright? Can you stand?", I ask him repeatedly, shaking him a little. I hear a shout from behind me.
"Top! Topozayada!" Looking behind me, I see a girl very similar to Iris, but with a Violet Rose Chapeau and Valkyrie Wings, and young girl in shabby-looking close and dark hair.
"I-is he alright?!", the younger girl says, crouching down next to the Knight.
"Yeah, I'm fine...", he says, wincing a little as he gets up. Thank goodness.
"You know, you shouldn't charge into battle without a little backup. Right, Raechal?", the girl with the Chapeau said.
"I agree, sometimes you're so reckless", the girl, presumably named Raechal said, looking down at him.
"Hi hi! I'm Amarynth, who are you guys?", I ask them. I remember what Iris said about the safe place again. "One of my new friends over there said she knows a safe place for us." I point over to her, and the Knight I found, named Topoyazada, nodded and started walking over. I follow them shortly after.
"Hey hey, I found some more friends, Iris!", I yell to her.
(Equinox)
"Don't try and threaten me. Ever." darkness wraps around me, my eyes and grinning mouth the only light escaping. I raise my hands up, and spread my palms outward. A Curse flows outward and takes all the hunters by surprise. I jump into a tree as a Mist releases from the ground, and I cackle and throw my voice in directions as they swing their weapons blindly. The magenta fire explodes from them and destroys them, and I watch the last one crumple to the ground. I feel the darkness leave my body, and feel slightly feverish.
I drop down and continue walking, keeping my hat down. I rub thoughtfully on my arm, feeling the energy-symbol branded into my arm when the Strangers Exiled me. I walk along and see some people gathering over a feverish Channeler. I duck behind a tree. Peeking a little, I see five characters. Leaves fall behind them, as they remain completely unaware of the phenomenon, and form the Valkyrie I saw earlier. She giggles, and points to them to show she approves if I arrange with them a pact. She dissipates, and I am left with a choice...
I think I will observe them a little longer. I climb up into the tree, and peer down.
@Aekuryi & Seatus: Your stories have been approved and added!
Updated my last IC post with Auger's response, along with some other actions. I'll keep using that post until the first chapter ends. After which, I'll make another post for the second chapter :).
((Updated the Iris' story in response! She just really want to dissect Valentine... She really is interested in doing that...))
She just might get the opportunity to do that at some point in the story. :P :'(
(Short, I woke up about an hour before school)
Alice attempted to roll to the side, but was held down with chains, (Foolish to fight, you have no weapon!) so struggled to throw the finder off instead.
(If you look at the proposal, alice is nowhere near escaping, considering she is chained, and has no weapon, which she has sworn not to leave behind.)
Your proposal and mine cannot coexist. Mine has the Finder ripping out Alice's spine and brain, while your has her escaping it altogether. Alice can still return from my proposal, but not unchanged. Mine does not overrule yours, so I'll put it to a vote unless one of us changes our proposals.
Syphon
------------
Syphon growled in distaste. He hated when his "colleagues" decided not to inform him of channelers, especially high concentrations of them. The enforcer was an idiot for thinking to call Zero on a com unit that was Hunter made. All of them were tapped and Syphon could hear everything that was said over them. Zero was a problem, displaying total disrespect for his words and orders. He grinned, while "Zero" might think he was a raging idiot, he could be very cold and calculating. He respected Zero for being a hunting machine, he was a lot more competent then his other subordinates. He commed in his elite recon hunters, "Tail Zero back to this "gold mine" of channelers, I'll be joining you in a few moments, if Zero notices you tell him you're there under my orders." And like that the squad of 6 was out, heading towards Zero's position. Syphon grinned, he would have a feast of energy from this.
Seriously, I have Lyra on hold because I'm waiting for Equinox to find her.
Can't really find her when Equinox is up in a tree surveying the others. You're going to have to post
You could make Equinox get into a circumstance where he has to run away or go somewhere else and then finds Lyra.
*shrug*
That would derail Seatus + Lyra :P
Okay, now I have a question. In Equinox's most recent entry, who is the feverish Channeler? Topoyazada (or whatever his name is)?
Because Lyra crashed in the same prairie that Amarynth, Iris, Top and Auger (as well as Vaelyntine and Raechal) are in, so she shouldn't be too far away.
And Seatus hasn't even been introduced, so how would it derail?
It's also about one in the morning where I'm at, so excuse me if anything I say doesn't make sense, haha.
Well I am not going to create a random situation. This is my final decision
You're strange, but alright.
It might be a little more interesting to see how Lyra deals with the situation.
Don't be sorry; go ahead and join us!
@Everyone: I'm toying with the idea of reworking how our story is done, as I'm still finding it difficult to maintain the Story Thread. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to have everyone post their own stories, instead of me doing it. There are a few ways to accomplish this:
*I create a story wiki page, and we edit our story into there as we see fit.
+very clean and easy
-not immediately viewable by forum-goers
*You have only one post on the Story Thread, and you edit your story into it.
+relatively readable
-difficult to fabricate quick story editions
*Post story replies to the Story Thread, and post any OOC discussion to the Discussion Thread
+very easy to maintain
-not as clean as the above ideas
We could post the replies in the story thread RP style, then have questions and such be posted in the discussion thread.
Or we could get rid of the discussion thread and have the story thread be the main thread, with OOC responses being marked.
Your second suggestion is how Return to Cradle was done. It didn't work out well.
Third option it is. I'll try to get it set up.
And here it is!
Zero
I slipped out of the base, careful not to attract attention. Running off the walls easily, i hot the ground hard. I dusted the mud off of my pants and switched my com unit on. I grinned as one of my favorite rock songs came on, then began my trek to Almire. Besides, who says you can't have fun while you're on your way to murder countless innocent people?
-----
I scowled. It had been hours, yet my com unit's INS -Interplanetary Navigationary System- told me I was only halfway to Almire. Suddenly, a familiar crackle of leaves caught my attention. Being a born hunter, I was very wary and attuned to any and all u usual noises. I whirled around and glared at the six recons from my team. A growl escaped from my throat, "Why the hell are YOU guys here?" The Hunters shuffled nervously, suddenly very interested in their Recon modules. I hissed, "WELL? Tell me!" All of the Recons backed away, except for one. He glanced around, beads of sweat trickling down his forehead. He stuttered, "Um... Zero, sir, we're here on Syphon's orders. We were supposed to come and assist you." I wasn't fooled.
Adopting a tone that most people only use with small children, i said, "Oh, yes, suuuure. I'm quite sure that when people are sent to assist a fellow soldier, they are ordered to tail them, maintaining a stalking distance. Yes, now THAT is standard protocol." The Recon gulped and responded, "Sorry, sir... We're just supposed to help you kill the Channelers." I was about to nod my forgiveness when it hit me. I growled, "How the heck did you know I was heading towards a Channeler camp?" The Hunter shuffled nervously again and reached for his hip holster. Buffoon.
Before the Recon's fingertips even got there, I had blasted a hole in his skull with my Antigua. I growled, "Idiots" and rushed towards another Recon. I smashed my fist into his stomach and felt his ribs break, then kicked his legs out from under him and drove a knife into his skull. Backing away, i tossed a Semtex at one of them and watched as it took out three more Hunters. As i turned to the last Recon, I inquired, "Now tell me. Why did Syphon REALLY send you here?" My Nightblade hovered right in front of his neck and he sputtered, "We were supposed to tail you to the Channeler 'gold mine', inform Syphon of its location, then capture you and bring you to him so he could... Punish you." I knew exactly what he meant; countless Channelers and Hunters had already been drained of their life force by Syphon. I shook my head and said, "And that worked out so well, didn't it?" I lifted my blade, and the poor Recon's eyes widened in fear. "Please... No, no no n-" he was cut off. Literally.
I sighed and cracked my knuckles. Then i picked up my weapons and continued walking towards Almire, and thus towards the Channelers. I laughed.
I could already hear their horrified screams.
Now that we've converted to our new format, do we post our previous entries to the thread? Or could we just leave them be and refer readers to the old thread?
Oh, and if Lyra does not act or nobody acts upon her, I'll go and interact with her :3
I've was watching Creepypastas due to inactivity. Don't. Try. It
Yes, please post your previous entries to the thread. :)
I need to get working on Dominance. Aek, do your thing.
I will also be working my butt off to compensate for Holy Week. As you all know, that leaves a deal of people unable to do their business for a bit.

Name: Archemiday Jubilee Xin
Race: Angelic
Faction: Angelic
Gender: Male
Appearance: normal height, blue eyes, blue personal color, short blue hair
Equips: Lab coat, glasses, lute, Arch system, occasionally c4 if needed
Bio: After the battle of the morai and isorians generations ago that I was in, I lived a normal life. It wasn't until I was traveling in the clock works that I was bashed in the face by a Trojan. I woke up in a heavenly place. While there, I was recruited into the group of Angels that protected the Cradle. While there, I practiced on many things, such as medicine, engineering, and a little bit of combat. I also obtained wings, but I never learned how to use them. I was ordered to go to the Cradle, and would be told my mission on the way there
((Sorry if it breaks the no carrying characters rule. I can change it if you don't like any part.))
I actually didn't want zero to be killed, just tailed by the recon group so Syphon could keep tabs on him.
Sorry! I was on a trip....... I couldn't keep up, so gimme time, and can someone tell me the progress of the story? I got too many things to juggle at once, and I'm going on ANOTHER trip for..... what, 2-3 days? So.... Someone help please?
If all goes well, you won't have to worry - we're essentially starting over with a somewhat different system. See if you can find the thread "Finder's Keepers (roleplay)" thread, not the (collaborative fiction) one.
Raechal rolled to the side, briefly escaping the Finder's claws. The Master got up, grabbed Raechal, and put her into a pair of hanging chain cuffs. He spoke inside the Finder's head, "Go to Almire, quickly! My sources tell me that your Channelers are at the borders. I'll take the torture from here." The Finder nods and strolls out of the room.
She contacted her minions, and learned that the Channelers were very close to the Almirian city of Al'Goth. She spread her wings and raced as fast as her legs could carry her, faster than the wind and as silently as death.
______
Meanwhile, the Master grabbed Raechal's spine with one hand, opened her skull with another, and ripped out her brain and spinal column together. He then placed it into a mechanical body, where the brain and spine were automatically integrated. Then a control crystal was placed in her brain as a final step.
He had created a new Finder. "Vera" had now been replaced.
I can't believe I am not asleep yet. I think it was those creepypastas
Name: Crankshaft
Race: Keeper (Gremlin)
Faction: Great Colony
Gender: Male
Appearance: Similar to a normal Darkfang Demo, but noticeably scruffier(Ruffled and stained clothing, Razwog-like beard, the works.)
Equipment: Standard issue Darkfang Demolition Helmet and Armored Jacket, a large backpack similar to that of Kozma or Nonna's (for carrying items for trading and delivery) and a Pepperbox.
Bio: Born to a rather normal family in a Colony town, Crankshaft was pressed into armed service after completing his required academics. At that point, he was assigned to a unit with 19 other Gremlins, one of which he would later find had a history of aiding Channelers. One day, their squad was ambushed by Hunters, who had become frustrated by a certain Gremlin's constant stymieing of their Channeler hunts. The squad itself attempted to protect the Hunters' target, but were mercilessly slaughtered by the Hunters, who saw them as mere obstacles. Crankshaft, playing dead so as to spread the news, realized that another gremlin from their troop was conversing casually with the Hunters, and realized that he had ratted out their comrade! Unfortunately, when he got back to town, none would believe him, and he served 15 years in a prison before evidence and tests exonerated him. With his newfound freedom, he began eking out a living as a trader and courier to earn money that would work toward his goal of bringing justice to the Gremlin Traitor from his squad, who'd disappeared from all databases and could not be contacted by any known means. He used some of his money to buy a Scuttlebot and outfit it with Plasma Cells to power it nearly indefinitely. He bears a deep-seated grudge towards Hunters for the meaningless killing of his comrades, and will often assist others battling them without so much as a thought.
Additional info: The Scuttlebot serves as a rudimentary transport; Crankshaft often sits atop it to unwind while still traveling and ease up on the stress of walking large distances.
@Thinslayer
Hey, I'm writing some secret stuff atm, and I was wondering if I could use the same "Discussion Thread and Story Thread" format that you used.
Syphon
-----------
I rushed through the dead forests surrounding Almire, the hoverbike made things much easier, only a fool would traverse this terrain on feet. When I got closer I could hear the guitar solo from one of Zero's favorite rock songs, the idiot was actually listening to music while going to slaughter hundreds, the guy had style I gave him that. Something caught my eye as I rushed through, 6 dead bodies, my elite recon team was mangled, horribly. Idiots had probably got scared and misinformed zero. Eh no use letting a good meal go to waste, I proceeded to drain them dry of any remaining energy they had. I continued on, but not before reporting the deaths of them to The finder, all I got was a growl saying that she was on her way to ALmire and she'd "Take care" of Zero on the way. I zoomed faster I could feel the pure amount of power emanating from the city. I grinned i'd be glowing with power before the night was through.

Axis
---------
I woke with a start. The night was chilly, and the lights from the hall were burning brightly all of a sudden. I looked up to see an Almarian guard looking over me. "Vanaduke wants you for something." I sat up and cleared my eyes, whenever the purified king sent me on a mission this late, it was never good news. Alright tell him I'll be at the throne room in five." I put on my armor, equipped my weapons and set out. WHen I came to the throne room, I had to clear my eyes again, everything from the room was polished brightly, anything dark or fiery reminded the king of his "troubled days". I also noted some statues of some of the deities around the room, Vog was noticeably absent from them. I faced the king, "Another recon mission sir?" I asked. I was always assigned missions, not because it was required but because I wanted to. I had been taken to Almire years earlier to seek refuge from the Imperium's reign of terror over Channelers.
I rubbed my shoulder, a black scar was covered by my armor, a horrible memento of what I had escaped that fateful night. I shuddered remembering The Finder, dog to the Imperium chasing after me. I was snapped back to reality when the king said "No, we've been informed that channelers are escaping from hunters right on our borders." "Three pursue them." "The first is a concentrated mass of hatred that one's stench reeks far beyond the dead woods, the one called Zero draws near." I shuddered recalling the briefing I had on him, over a hundred kills on channelers all of them gorier then the last. the second is a jigsaw of others aura we're going to be greeted by the drainer, Syphon." I recalled the name, he had been one of the first to join the hunters ranks, I couldn't stand traitors. "The third is familiar to you, The Finder has finally been sent to destroy us." I bit my lip in disgust.
"Go now, help them we do not need anymore innocent blood spilt." Vanaduke said saddened. "Right." And like that I rushed out, "I really hope I arrive in time." I was beyond worried for them, if ANY of those three got their hands on the channelers, I put the thought aside, I wanted to have an appetite when I got back.
((eh... I'm just waiting for other Channelers to post their part... Because I do not want to start the same mistake I once did on RtC: goin seperate ways. Anyhow, I wonder who Zero will try to kill first...))
@Knight-Of-Vanaduke: I'm glad you took the opportunity to speak up about it. I won't post my proposal until the issue is resolved. Why don't you want your character's sister to become the Finder? I think it would be an interesting twist.
I've decided that the Finder is actually a person whose mind is controlled by the Master. That person has no free will unless the Master relinquishes control.
By the way, I seem to have mixed up Alice and Raechal. Alice was the one whom the Finder captured, but it was Raechal I had in mind, so I accidentally swapped the two.
Speaking of which, Liminori, how do you feel about Alice becoming the new Finder? The conflict between two minds should be an interesting one.
@Infernus-Dragneel: I'm kinda in the same boat. I need Liminori and Knight-Of-Vanaduke to reply before I can proceed.
As for posting story, I wouldn't do a very good "Emotionless" character.
Also, being the new finder wouldn't exactly allow for expanding the character's emotions until you feel like that person is a second half of you.
Sort of like I attached to the characters in RtC.
(Walks over to couch and opens the book Salamandastron )
*sips boiled Jelly Core tea* Myes, I do have to agree with Liminori on that note. *pours another cup and lays it on saucer, pushing saucer to Thin* But it would allow a darker turn for the story, and jeopardize 'Vera', if you will. I suggest this would allow Thin time to expand the fears of 'Vera'. *sips tea again* But I'm not quite sure the sacrifice of Alice is apprpriate. Wouldn't you agree, Mr. Mooplestein? *pets Chromalisk on lap*
*waves finger in Mr. Mooplestein's face* Bad boy! No double posting! *straps timed bomb on his back and throws him to floor as he runs away. Turns back to table* So, whom's proposal must be changed. There is a better way than sacrificing someone's character.
Also, anyone going to react to Equinox? Or nobody looks over edits?
I think Equinox ans Iris would be nice 'aquaintances'
