Game of Death (roleplay discussion thread)

@Hex
Glad we didn't set off on the wrong foot. :D
Yes, I am an avid reader of Shakespeare's works, though I have to thoroughly analyze them due to the fact that I take the Literature syllabus as well.
I also delve into expanding my vocabulary whenever my can, to aid me in my story-writing endeavors.
(And I guess the plot twist was too much. :P. Luckily, Thin's got everything sorted out already.)
Join the RP! I'll be sure to join shortly after my upcoming piano examination(which going to take place in about two hours' time).
@Top
How nice it is to see you again. I look forward to meeting you in the RP.

I may or may not make an app, school starts tomorrow for me. Anyway, uh, I'll think of some ideas then maybe make one when I get home tomorrow or possibly around midnight seeing as I'm semi-nocturnal.

I think my minds back, but in any case, I was a bit jelly of your masterful usage of Ye Old English :3 In fact I didn't even try to use grammar... for a second I thought you were like, An English Professor or something...
But more importantly, now that my minds back, for the RP, I was thinking that fir magic, it isn't just science trippy stuff, but also adding in some of the energy abundant in the ambient area of Cradle.

As it turns out, that ambient energy is actually the most integral portion of the weaving process. Have you seen my fanfic "No Safe Haven?" I believe I explained the system in more detail there. See, Weavers are people who have the genetic capability to bend (and weave) spacetime. Battle Sprites were the first beings capable of doing so. But drawing on their own energy to perform these weaves would have been disastrous, so they pulled from the ambient energy. But there wasn't a whole lot of that, so their use of their powers was quite limited (a.k.a. cooldowns). But when the Core was opened, the ambient energy levels increased dramatically, such that human beings who were capable of weaving could suddenly recognize their powers and perform them much more easily.
As it turns out, however, the genetic strain that allows weaving is a rare one, so very few humans have it. Curiously, it is a dominant trait, so given its rarity, it must have appeared very recently.
I'll bet you could make a wild guess at who or what is responsible for the trait's appearance. ;)

Dat's a lot'o babies :)
Jk but ok, I'm curious, given enough time, being a dominant trait, then wouldn't a whole lot if people be capable of 'weaving'?
And one last thing, I really don't like saying this, but can we come up with a magic system that you haven't previously used? It should have the same basic principles, but maybe develop a whole new idea for magic that might even tie in with that special thing that each player gets under your discretion.

Magic kinda does a number on my religious sensibilities, so I try to work around it, mostly by giving it a sci-fic description. What other system did you have in mind?
I'm curious, given enough time, being a dominant trait, then wouldn't a whole lot of people be capable of weaving?
-Yes! That's your clue. Since it's a dominant trait, there should be a lot of people capable of using it after a rather short amount of time, right? So if there aren't a whole lot of those people, then it logically follows that the trait appeared very recently. Specifically, I'm suggesting that something or someone has the genetic manipulation skills to introduce such a trait.

Eureka!
Perhaps there are two types of superhumans: The Weavers and The Elementalists.
The Weavers use genetics to bend space-time in different ways, allowing for telekinesis and flight.
The Elementalists use genetics, and entanglement(quantum theory of entanglement) to control 'elements'.
The first elementalist was born in the Renaissance era, and due to the odd and unique DNAs that were in that time, the Elementalist's DNA was different. It allowed his body to withstand and manipulate the specific element it was designed to. Thus, due to his DNA, he could manipulate and control the element of Fire.
Of course, over time he would have children, and those children would have other children, and as such his ability to manipulate Fire would not be passed down from generation to generation, though the trait that allowed him to manipulate an element in the first place would. That is why every Elementalist is unique.
Also, only the firstborn(either because of some unexplained science or supernatural influence)'s DNA would be able to manipulate an element. Any others would be a... *gulp*... normal human.
And yes, this is for my lore.
P.S:
My character is a firstborn elementalist. I think it was pretty obvious from the way I spoke about it.

Name: Dylan Flair
Gender: Male
Age: 19
I'll skip the height weight and all that jazz and just go to the appearance:
Of course, that's his face. But you can already guess what he wears.
Attire:
Blue collared jacket with sleeves rolled up to his elbow. He also wears a white shirt with its sleeves rolled up under the jacket's sleeves. He wears jeans along with it.
Powers:
Dylan controls darkness, because he's an Elementalist.

Ah, but you see, weaving also permits controlling the elements. Remember how Gwen would "snap a fireball?" She used the "snap weave," which bends spacetime such that it creates a spark, which can then ignite anything flammable in the area. Telekinesis can then be used to levitate the fireball and manipulate it at will. If no telekinesis is used, then the fire will spread explosively outward in a "fireblast." That term should sound familiar, too.
If spacetime consists of quantum "strings," then weaving spacetime involves weaving these strings. Therefore, weaving would closely involve the concept of quantum entanglement, would it not?
Perhaps I'm overthinking it. xD
But proper magic involves uttering spells to invoke power from god(s) or other spiritual powers. We will not use proper magic here. EDIT: That statement was made more for Hexlash's benefit. :3
@Pow-Posts-Again: I renamed the thread because the title still isn't completely settled yet.
@Ultimaknightz: The height, weight, and such are actually quite important. Some of the dungeon traps rely on those factors, like pressure plates designed to activate only in the presence of 150 or more pounds, for example.

I have actually never thought about magic being drawn from spirits or gods, I've always imagined it as something drawn from the energy naturally present in an area, or that comes from a mystical object. For example, since you seem to like FF, (and please don't go too harsh on me, I only saw the movie once a long time ago) there was a movie about Cloud and Sepheroth or however you spell his name, and they had this thing (I srsly barely remember any of it) that drew power from, like wow okay I can't remember at all, but it had something to do with time or the Land, and they had it in shiny glowing balls :D
Horrible probably inaccurate example aside, I would in fact prefer a Sci-fi form of magic, that is based on science. When ultima said entanglement, I threw up my arms and wiggled them loudly announcing 'entanglement' in a strange voice, wait that's irrelevant... Back on track, I would just like to point out that the weaver can't just spark things and set them alight, they'd have to follow the normal rules of Chemistry, by which they would have to create a fuel source, carbon, and then the spark on energy would ignite it, so there would have to be at least some carbon present to act as a fuel source to burn. And no, right now, there's no such thing as over thinking it!
For a new magic system, maybe, this is just a suggestion, but what if the dungeon area itself has some energy from the core, and the Knights have developed special pieces of equipment that allows the user in that area to tap into and manipulate the power. However, due to the nature of the erratic energy, only certain Knights with certain genetics can use the equipment, and this is where we come in, they get a completely new ability that comes from tapping into the energy. Perhaps this may even be why Serris wants these Knights, to somehow trick them into doing whatever he wants, because they are able to utilize the energy.
Or we could stick to your idea, and make it so that weaving integrates more with the plot line rather than just being how Knights use 'magic'.
But do you want to know what I really think? I think it's magical that a bunch of amazing people, who all have such unique and awesome skills and personalities can come together like this from all over the world and do what we're doing, we live in a very magical time.
DID YOU KNOW IT'S HARDER TO SAY WWW THAN WORLD WIDE WEB :O MIND BLOWN
EDIT: Fixed some absurd autocorrects.

I'm actually not all that familiar with Final Fantasy lore, so my guess is as good as yours when it comes to magic from the series. The movie you're referring to may be Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, which is kinda hard to watch when one isn't familiar with the lore. :3
You're quite right about weavers being unable to spark things without fuel. That did actually occur to me, but I intentionally left it out because it's a hard problem to overcome.
Actually, we have problems involving all three elements, fire, freeze, and shock. I have a possible solution for them (because Spiral Knights physics):
Fire: Energy is co-resonantly applied to a substance, superheating it to create a visible flame.
Freeze: Energy is anti-resonantly applied to a substance, supercooling it to create frozen material.
Shock: Energy is applied to a substance to ionize it, and after it is telekinetically forced into a toroidal configuration, a subsequent electrical discharge (like from a snap weave) will cause it to form a stable thunderbolt.
Explanations for other powers:
Teleportation: Spacetime is torn open in two locations, and negative energy is applied to keep them open for the duration of the relocation.
Telepathy: Teleporting mental information to the target's mirror neurons. Advanced telepathy may lead to mind control.
Force field: A tightly-controlled magnetic field.

Wouldn't it be simpler just to say ice as the removal of energy from a targeted area? And also, I think it would be more fitting to refer to it as Freeze, because Ice would require there to be water. And how about poison? The manipulation of molecules in the area to form molecular compounds which are toxic?
And for telekinesis, the complete manipulative function of a select group of particles, I guess, unless you want to go and find a wiki page for that :D
You just posted about cloaking, for that, you would have to temporarily lower the speed of light, and allow it to pass around you, then rejoin it with another stream of light to erase your actions from ever happening.

You posted while I was still writing up that post. I've since edited it to account for Sanaca.
There are several ways to cloak. One way is simply to enter another dimension. Another one would be what you described.
One thing that occurred to me last night was that we probably shouldn't burden our players with all this stuff. Can't we just, you know, let the players use it and keep the details between us?

Thin! I love doing this stuff though.... how would we keep it between ourselves anyways? And explain 'other dimension'...

I really have no clue what I mean by "other dimension." lol derp
But seerusly, we need to get a move-on with this RP before all our applicants get bored and leave. First, let's revamp the application process.
Name: (whatever you like)
Appearance: (a picture of some kind must be provided)
Gender: (male or female; other gender configurations are excluded. Sorry Bechamel!)
Age: (helps to define the character's appearance, personality, and biography)
Eye color: (so we can describe you, as well as configure traps for you)
Skin color: (mainly for descriptive purposes)
Height: (so we can configure traps for you)
Weight: (so we can configure traps for you)
Attire: (what you're wearing, mostly for identification & descriptive purposes)
Arsenal: (a full breakdown of all the equipment you're carrying)

Energy Bolt (energy bullet)
Light Ray (energy beam)
Cryobolt (freeze bullet)
Freeze Ray (freeze beam)

Mild Curse (harms the user upon any attempt to use an afflicted weapon or consumable)
Medium Curse (prevents usage of any weapons, consumables, or the shield)
Strong Curse (prevents usage of any weapons, consumables, shields, battle sprites, or special abilities)

Thin, any idea what the 'special' thing that each player will get it yet?

Can we add these powers?
Sleep Field, by manipulating the targeted areas oxygen levels, you can fatigue the target and cause them to collapse (unlike fully healing them in SK)
Sheer Power, since it would be a bit OP if everyone could use powers, you can add this one, where some people can apply extra force to their attacks, creating Stun.
Disable, similar to 'Curse', however, no godly or spiritual things here, the user simply makes the weapon or object of choice unable to be heald, such as overheating it, freezing it, w/e
:D

I've added Curse. The mechanics are intentionally left unexplained. ;)
Sheer Power is not added due to redundancy.
Sleep Field is not added due to redundancy.
Allow me to explain why.
The system is designed to allow creative players to design "magical" combinations of powers to suit their purposes. Listed below are a few examples:
*force-field-assisted punches (sheer power)
*vacuum field (hexing haze with gases expelled)
*reverse force fields, allowing for extraction of poisons
*one can safely travel underwater with the shield aura activated.
*combining a tailored reverse force field with a shield aura allows you to collect oxygen while underwater.
*a shadow cloak can cloak other things besides yourself, you know...
*telekinesis can be used to make you fly.
*shooting a firebolt requires a force field compression weave to activate, a remote omnidirectional force field to maintain, and telekinesis to propel.
*a flame barrier requires creating several firebolts and levitating them in a rotating shield aura.
The possibilities are nigh-endless. These are not separate powers, like your Sheer Power, but are logical extensions resulting from combining several powers.

Just to correct you, space-time cannot be bent so that it creates a spark. Space-Time can be bent such that gravity can be removed from an object and can push the object upwards, making it levitate. It's kinda like some flexible jelly.
Space-time is when space and time are intertwined together. The string theory is supposedly what makes up the universe. Space-time is not the universe at it does not consist of JUST the universe, but it consists of time as well. As such, there is no possible way Space-Time is the universe, meaning that the strings would not be able to affect space-time, but may be able to affect space.
Quantum entanglement is when one atom can affect the other, no matter how far they are apart. The reason why Elementalists can control elements is because their brain is wired to also be able to control that specific element.
The 'magic' Elementalists use is simply Quantum Entanglement at work. Since they control it with their brain(like everything else they do), they have no need for incantations.
so pls pls pls pls pls pls pls
I'd love my character to be able to control darkness. Also, he generates his darkness(or 'dark atoms') from the Darkforce Dimension.

Space-time cannot be bent so that it creates a spark.
-Makes sense. I was coming to that conclusion anyways. :3
The 'magic' elementalists use is simply quantum entanglement at work...they control it with their brain.
-Quantum entanglement is far too complicated for my liking. I tried reading up on it, but...seerusly, "quantum teleportation" doesn't teleport squat, "quantum entanglement" doesn't allow true information transfer, but it can still be used to transfer information somehow...bah, I can't get a grip on it. pls pls pls pls don't make me use it!
Regarding darkness...well, in the Spiral Knights universe, 'shadow' appears to be like any other element, and can be controlled much like any other element. But let's leave out the Darkforce Dimension; we don't need addition layers of fluff- I mean lore. Shadows seem to be quite common enough in the regular dimension. ^_^
So go ahead, control the shadows! ;)

Alright, let's get something clear here......
@Thin: Alright, I'll support you in letting him control the shadows, so...... abilities are.....
1. Manifest a figure to fight for Ultima
2. Shoot a blast of shadow or whatever
3. turn off the lights.
4. Causes confusion.
5. No teleportation

On an unrelated note, I like dual wielding revolvers.
On the topic, I will try to revamp mine a little later. Top, tell me if Hostility has an update, will ye?

Can we just cover how exactly Shadow manifests as a manipulatable element? I mean, shadow is just the absence of light...

@Skye-Lightning: your 'unrelated note' may actually be related. I was thinking that the nearest writable equivalent to switch-shooting is dual-wielding. If our combat design ever gets more structured, dual-wielding is likely to be an issue worth our attention.
@Hexlash: That question has been on my mind, too.
@Ultimaknightz: I'm still having difficulty wrapping my head around shadow as a manipulable element. I know it's in the Spiral Knights lore, but there's no rule that says we have to use everything in a game's lore, and frankly, given how difficult it is to explain it, I'm prepared to just leave it out for the time being.
Now, if we ever encounter the Swarm in the story, we would be having a very different conversation...

The reason I placed Sheer force in there was for all the non weavers, so that they didn't have to manipulate the very existence of the universe just to stun an opponent :P
It's another way of saying "hit as hard as a lumber." :3

@Hexlash: I just read your earlier post again.
mind = blown
I need to read this stuff more carefully, 'cuz that third paragraph blew my mind when I read it again. Modified power armor was the first application to pop into my head. Knights always wear their armor anyways, so why not allow them to modify it to let them weave with it? Then if we still maintain genetic exclusivity...we really have got to discuss this idea in more depth.
I was just about ready to start the story thread, too. I'm torn between wanting to explore some more ideas and getting a move-on with the RP.

Entering a parallel dimension is phasing, not cloaking.

Name: Eve Distraught
Appearance: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111104214408/sandsofdestruction/...
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Eye color: Violet
Skin color: Peach
Height: 5 ft
Weight: 128 lbs
Attire: Basically, Gothic Lolita clothing. (I'm copypasting from the original app in my computer folders) There are two revolvers(which can replaced by Proto Stuff in the beginning) latched onto her belt, and she is Dragonkind, with Wings(can't really fly, mainly for appearance purposes) and horns.
Arsenal: Two Revolvers
Personality: Nice, caring and likes to joke.
Biography:
As Dragonkind, she was left alone in her childhood to train to fend for herself. Also born of Royal Blood, she is highly expected of, which she dislikes very much. But as she travels across the land for much more challenging places, she encountered a few Kats who were able to talk. Astounded, they offered her the education in magic and else, which was something new to her. After a few days of training, she mastered some tricks, and learned to imbue her powers into her bullets. And then she met knights as she went above ground. She enjoyed in the slaughterhouse known as Lockdown, watching people test their skills in battle with their own kind, something she hadn't done, like the day she learned of magic. She signed up for matches, to which she paid a reasonable sum to enter, and won almost every match, but lost almost a few ones. Clueless of what was around her, she just indulged in the glory of LD.
Special Powers:
Well, all the bullet types and only Hexing Haze as a defense measure.

Buuuuut... My unrelated note does?

Name: Forrower
Appearance: Kinda like this
Gender: Male
Age: 24
Eye color: Dark Brown
Skin color: White
Height: 6ft
Weight: 185lb
Attire: White shirt (Sleeves rolled up), Black trousers.
Arsenal: Small knife
Personality: Kind to friends, hollow to strangers, calm, collected but will yell out at someone if angered. Only speaks when he feels the need to.
Biography: When Forrower was 6, he was abandoned by unknown reasons with only a small knife lying beside him. Finally he had the guts to steal a bag of apples for the first time. Later on he became more casual stealing. Eventually he was caught at the age of 14. There was conflict when he was caught and he managed to take down at least 2 knights. He was punished and placed in jail for stealing. Eventually he was called up to show his skills in combat as he had shown when he was stealing. Forrower barely steals now and only does when it is necessary. He has kept the small knife that he had obtained when he was abandoned.
Powers: Mild Curse, Medium curse, Strong curse, Energy bolt.

So yeah, equipment that grants the ability to weave, perhaps we can make it so that it's not as powerful as actual weavers, or even vise versa. Or as I was planning, equipment that extends or amplifies a weavers abilities.
And I think I finally figured out how shadow can manifest as a manipulative force. In game, Dark Matter is the purple mineral, so perhaps, shadow is actually the creation and manipulation if dark energy and matter. So far irl, we know that dark energy is the unexplainable cryptic (lol thanks for teaching me more wurdz) force that is accelerating the universes expansion and accounts for 68.3%, whilst dark matter, is what we use to explain the other 26.8% of the universe's mass.
So I propose that this is what represents the shadow force. Oh and to prevent confusion, dark w/e is not antimatter!

@Hexlash: Dark matter. Why didn't I think of that? /derp
@Topoyozariane: Do you mind helping me analyze all the character applications now? We're just about ready to start, and I've updated the title and story thread.
@everyone: first off, how does the title "Game of Death" sound? Secondly, we will now be reviewing your character applications. The results will be posted to this thread. Thirdly, the link to the story thread is provided on the opening post of this thread. Do not post until you have had confirmation that your character is accepted.

Here's my app. He seems familiar...
Also, sorry if there is any flaws, I read every post and understood it quite well, I just got confused on the how Serris (or whosoever is up top) places people in the maze because my brain is being a stupid today. (I think it has something to do with lockdown?)
Name: Klepto
Appearance: this, http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qx-njOGBzUY/UHCVya3XQCI/AAAAAAAAAB0/FWl3TTFlED... Except when I specify otherwise.
Gender: Male
Age: 15-ish? fairly young.
Eye color: green.
Skin color: light.
Height: 4 foot 10 range.
Weight: 165 seems fair to me.
Attire: what he's wearing in the picture seems okay to me.
Arsenal: well, can't we only have proto stuff? he'll have chroma armor eventually and the rest is whatever he finds.
Personality: Pretty nice, EDIT: usually depressed, prideful, clever, and likes logic.
Biography: When he was roughly 8-ish, klepto's parents died due to illness, and he raised himself afterward. Recently, he's noticed that something wrong is going on in the government (or whatever it is) and started telling people what he thought. He was quickly taken away. EDIT: on the subject of how he got his personality, when he was living on his own on the streets, he tried to make friends (after a year of being alone), but only succeeded at making one: an old man who shared his puzzles with him. This is where he got a love of logic and his prideful attitude (as he solved them faster and faster). Sadly, the old man had died in the recent years, but was still doing puzzles. On another note, He was also able to get some small jobs around haven to sustain himself as much as he had.
Special Power(s): force field and shadow cloak (unknowingly maybe?).
Also, as a warning I started school today, So I can't post constantly. Edit: my brain is feeling less stupid, but now I'm pushed for time. Lets see if I can make this better.

about what the special thing each player will get, will be...

Actually, thinking about it, Shadow could in upon itself actually be another form of magic. Considering the vast implications of how dark energy actually effects the universe, and how there's more dark matter in the universe than actual atoms, you could say some people instead of weaving the spacetime around them, they create and manipulate Dark energy and matter, which would give a unique way of using magic, though it would be a bit tricky to describe how exactly one would use Dark magic....

@Hexlash
I didn't say I wanted to control the shadows. I referred to darkness as 'dark atoms', which should have been obvious a clue enough. Basically, my character can generate darkness from a dimension outside this world and using quantum entanglement, can transport them to this world and manipulate them at his will.
Besides, dark matter is the thing that holds the universe together. It isn't actually 'dark'. They only call it dark because we cannot see it, though we can observe how it works through things we can see. If I were to control that 'dark matter', I would essentially be controlling gravity in the universe, NOT 'darkness' or the 'shadows'.
@Thinslayer
Generating 'dark atoms' that can be manipulated to his will. That's what I wanted. Instead of asking me why shadow was an element(which you proposed), why don't you ask it to yourself? After all, you proposed it to me. I only wanted my character to generate dark atoms that can be manipulated. You proposed to me that I should control the shadows, and you then rebutted your own argument. Quite contradictory, if I do say so myself.
Although there's nothing wrong with you or your argument, I am quite distraught at the fact that you proposed a notion to me and shortly after, rebutted it.

Name: Dylan Flair
Appearance: http://tinyurl.com/lkjpjgg
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Eye color: Lavender
Skin color: Slightly tanned white.
Height: I don't know... tall, I guess. But not TOO TALL.
Weight: How am I to know a person's weight? Thin, could you help me with this part?
Attire: Blue collared jacket with sleeves rolled up to his elbow. He also wears a white shirt with its sleeves rolled up under the jacket's sleeves. He wears jeans along with it.
Arsenal: He carries no equipment other than his attire and the dual swords that have been passed down to him from generation to generation, dubbed 'Chaos Edge' and 'Soul Edge'. He is not affiliated with the Spiral Order.
Personality: Dylan is considered to be extremely handsome by most people he meets, attracting many females unintentionally, though his cold demeanor usually scares them off. Beyond his naturally icy demeanor is an even colder one that would strike fear even into the hearts of the bravest of men, making him extremely hard to be friends with. Unlike most people who will hesitate when about to kill an enemy, Dylan will kill an opponent with every chance he gets in any way possible. He is the embodiment of an anti-hero.
Abilities: He has the unique ability to generate dark atoms(from the Dark Dimension) into this world and control them, often making makeshift weapons out of them or using them as a means of attack. He can also transport himself to the Corridors of Darkness, which can transport him wherever he wants, though he will need strong mental focus for that. Even the slightest distraction will disrupt the portal, which is why he usually cannot use it in a fight(or when someone is making even the slightest of noise), though a short ranged teleport will require much less mental focus.
Biography: The Elementalists have always been a mysterious pact, and for that unreasonable abomination of a reason(phrased in flowery words by Serris), Dylan was thrown into this dungeon while he was sleeping. That's about it.
So, lemme give you guys a recap:
-Cold.
-Anti-hero.
-Dark atoms.
-Manipulation.

Application Review?? I'm up for the job.
________________________________
@Thin: How 'bout the name being 'A game of Hide and go die?' Mwahahahaha!
@Thin again: I can't.... do this..... application review....... You do it, and I'll comfirm..... I'm a lazy person anyways.

So you did go into the links... Well I kinda mixed in the Spiral Knights lore and Real Life science and logic in that one, it's just "generate darkness from a dimension outside this world" seems to, like Thin stated, provide another unintended layer of lore, background information and story, that may hinder the RP. I guess he'll most likely resolve this situation, but meh. :3
lol Topo, you seem a bit dwarfed by the apps...

@Ultimaknightz: Yeah, it was kinda dumb of my to go contradicting myself. What I meant to convey (though I did so quite unclearly) was that you are free to use shadow stuff so long as I don't have to explain it. xD But that's kind of a bad idea in hindsight. Until shadow stuff is clarified with further physical explanation and application, it shall have the following properties:
- Shadow is associated with poison (Swarm) and curse (Gran Faust).
- It can be generated in discreet bolts, continuous beams, or distributed over an area (Shadowtech Alchemer).
- Proximity to it causes insanity (Acheron).
- Contact with it may mutilate the body (Trojans).
Until these properties are linked up to similar physical equivalents, the shadows will remain unexplained. I know it's called "dark matter" in the lore, but it clearly doesn't work the same way it does in the real world.
There are a few notable problems with your app, mostly involving the lore, but that will be handled separately.
To answer your question about weight, try looking up "bmi calculator," and use what you find. ;)
@Topoyozariane: tell you what, we'll split the work; you do three apps, I'll do three apps (we have 6 non-moderator apps total). Choose whichever apps are easiest, and leave the rest to me. I'll walk you through the stuff I want you to look at:
- Make sure the application format is followed.*
- Make sure the Arsenal is balanced.**
- Check that the personality follows the ground rules, set up in the OP of the story thread.
- Check that the biography is consistent with the rest of the app.
*Some apps are lacking their special abilities. That's okay; we can provide them later.
**Bear in mind that everyone starts off in their Proto gear. The Arsenal they've chosen is the minimum they will receive over the course of the story. If you don't like the equipment that you'll eventually have to give them, then have them change it.

@Ultimaknightz: You ready for your review?
Name: Dylan Flair Check!
Appearance: http://tinyurl.com/lkjpjgg Check!
Gender: Male Check!
Age: 18 Check!
Eye color: Lavender Check!
Skin color: Slightly tanned white. Check!
Height: I don't know... tall, I guess. But not TOO TALL. You will be assigned the average height of 5'8".
Weight: How am I to know a person's weight? Thin, could you help me with this part? You will be assigned the average weight of 150lbs.
Attire: Blue collared jacket with sleeves rolled up to his elbow. He also wears a white shirt with its sleeves rolled up under the jacket's sleeves. He wears jeans along with it. Check!
Arsenal: He carries no equipment other than his attire and the dual swords that have been passed down to him from generation to generation, dubbed 'Chaos Edge' and 'Soul Edge'. He is not affiliated with the Spiral Order. No go. I hope you're willing to let Serris take them away. I prefer you to use Spiral weaponry (renamed or reskinned if you so desire), and that preference shall be enforced until I am persuaded otherwise.
No go.
Unintentionally attracting females with his handsomeness is unrealistic. Women are more attracted by a nice guy. A more accurate statement would be "many women find him attractive." His "icy demeanor scaring off the bravest men" is also unacceptable. The "bravest men" you speak of would hardly be scared off by Maulos, let alone a pretty-boy with a cold demeanor.
Finally, his personality lacks any depth. All you've given are surface characteristics; his handsomeness, coldness, and bloodthirst. I won't pretend that I was never guilty of making shallow characters, but I believe that nobody will improve if we don't challenge each other. This is me challenging you to make a deeper character.
No go. You must choose from among the special powers provided on the list provided in the OP of the story thread. You are also required to follow the "weaving" lore.
Biography: The Elementalists have always been a mysterious pact, and for that unreasonable abomination of a reason(phrased in flowery words by Serris), Dylan was thrown into this dungeon while he was sleeping. That's about it. No go. You simply did not provide a biography; all you gave me was the reason you think Serris threw him into prison. Also, Serris is a mod-only character, so you are not allowed to make any claims about what he did or did not do. Rewrite your biography.

And that's it!
Dang, I wonder how my own apps would hold up... O.O

But for the sake of time wasting, I won't do what you did with Ultima's app, but really, their very in depth and blah blah blah.
I guess it's gonna happen eventually... Wait, where's the format for the Character App?

Name: Rivaille (pronounced Ree-vahy-ull) Check!
Age: 23 Check!
Height: 5'8" See note on "Body type"
Gender: clearly male. Complete with slightly gruff badass voice and the occasional I'll-kill-them-all (for vengeance) sort of attitude. Check!
Weight:198 lb. See note on "Body type"
Eye color: dark brown with flecks of amber around the middle and barely-noticeable stripes of green around the edge of the pupils. Check!

And that's it!

And that's it!

I've noticed a potential problem arising. The app format requires that you list your character's Arsenal, but the story rules dictate that everyone starts off with only Proto gear. What gives?
You do indeed start off with Proto gear, but your arsenal will be returned to you as the story progresses. You may even acquire new stuff on the way that you didn't include in your app!
Just wanted to address that before y'all got much further.

~~~
[REDACTED]
[NEW]:
Alright. My character will not use Proto Weapons, partially because he doesn't need to. Armor is also non-existent for him.
~~~
His 'icy demeanor' combined with his control over darkness strikes fear into hearts because their 'not-dark' souls are terrified by his. So even if they tried to act all tough around Dylan, their soul would truly be scared.
Deeper character? Icy demeanor fits perfectly with dark powers. I've never made a character like this, and as you know, he'll be the social outcast of the group. I think that's deep enough.
~~~
C'mon! Why must my character gain his powers from a supposedly better being(Gwen)? Even if my character were to be inferior to her, at least he wouldn't be given his powers because of her actions. I don't like being a part of someone else's lore, especially if my character were to gain special abilities through her doing.
Plus, my character's powers are genetic and have been passed down to him. I like my characters to be unique compared to other characters, which is why I dislike being the cannon fodder of lore.
~~~
For some apparent reason, I dislike the name of 'weaving'. It just doesn't sound right to me. 'Weaving' would not allow the control of dark atoms, or shadows for that matter. The only thing it would allow is things like telekinesis, flight, gravity manipulation and many other non-elemental abilities.
~~~
And I guess I went too far with the biography. :P It was meant to be funny, though from your reaction, I guess it didn't work out too well.
I need help on my new biography.
~~~
Also, I saw your request to tell you more about the lore on 'dark atoms'.
Dark Atoms come from the Dark Dimension, a dimension outside the reach of space-time. Nothing can reach it, which is why one needs to have his atoms entangled with it, allowing the teleportation and manipulation of those atoms. They can be hardened to a state where they become makeshift weapons(eg: Swords, Shields), a means of attack(dark shockwaves, dark beam emissions, dark lightning), a means of powerups(infusing darkness into weapons, infusing darkness into yourself), or even teleportation(requiring high amounts of mental focus and concentration).
However, the dark power Dylan holds comes at many costs, those of which I will state:
-Some damage can be dealt to yourself.
-Your soul gets darker the more you use it, so you have to use willpower to fight it back or you may never regain your sanity.
-Your durability is reduced considerably.
~~~
We some controversy over here!
And I just wanted to say I'm working on a character, but for reasons unknown decided to freaking draw them, so it's taking longer... around 2-3 hours to be exact...
@Thin: Alright. I get to criticize Skye's application...... mwahahaha.....
@Everyone: I'm going to throw out a name for the RP.... I think it's kinda better. (No offense, Thin) Anyways, how 'bout 'A game of Hide and go die?'
Height: 5 ft (Okay)
Weight: 128 lbs (That light? Imma round up to a 230, and it's okay.)
Attire: Basically, Gothic Lolita clothing. (I'm copypasting from the original app in my computer folders) There are two revolvers(which can replaced by Proto Stuff in the beginning) latched onto her belt, and she is Dragonkind, with Wings(can't really fly, mainly for appearance purposes) and horns. (Okay for everything. Except for a sword, you will be given two Proto Guns.)
Arsenal: Two Revolvers. (As I said, two Proto guns)
Personality: Nice, caring and likes to joke. (Okay)
Biography:
As Dragonkind, she was left alone in her childhood to train to fend for herself. Also born of Royal Blood, she is highly expected of, which she dislikes very much. But as she travels across the land for much more challenging places, she encountered a few Kats who were able to talk. Astounded, they offered her the education in magic and else, which was something new to her. After a few days of training, she mastered some tricks, and learned to imbue her powers into her bullets. And then she met knights as she went above ground. She enjoyed in the slaughterhouse known as Lockdown, watching people test their skills in battle with their own kind, something she hadn't done, like the day she learned of magic. She signed up for matches, to which she paid a reasonable sum to enter, and won almost every match, but lost almost a few ones. Clueless of what was around her, she just indulged in the glory of LD. (Okay....)
Special Powers:
Well, all the bullet types and only Hexing Haze as a defense measure. (Not Shadow Bullet type, and it's a OKAY.)
Height: 6ft (Okay.)
Weight: 185lb (Okay)
Attire: White shirt (Sleeves rolled up), Black trousers. (Uh huh.)
Arsenal: Small knife (Small knife refering to parrying knife, so that's a no. Proto gear first, unless Moderators give you a knife.)
Personality: Kind to friends, hollow to strangers, calm, collected but will yell out at someone if angered. Only speaks when he feels the need to. (Okay)
Biography: When Forrower was 6, he was abandoned by unknown reasons with only a small knife lying beside him. Finally he had the guts to steal a bag of apples for the first time. Later on he became more casual stealing. Eventually he was caught at the age of 14. There was conflict when he was caught and he managed to take down at least 2 knights. He was punished and placed in jail for stealing. Eventually he was called up to show his skills in combat as he had shown when he was stealing. Forrower barely steals now and only does when it is necessary. He has kept the small knife that he had obtained when he was abandoned. (Okay.)
Powers: Mild Curse, Medium curse, Strong curse, Energy bolt. (Take out the strong curse, and replace with energy bolt with weak shock, and okay.)
Application #3: Dmmater's.
Name: Klepto (okay)
Appearance: this, http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Qx-njOGBzUY/UHCVya3XQCI/AAAAAAAAAB0/FWl3TTFlED... Except when I specify otherwise. (okay)
Attire: what he's wearing in the picture seems okay to me. (Okay)
Arsenal: well, can't we only have proto stuff? he'll have chroma armor eventually. (Chrome will be decided by the Mods. Okay)
Personality: Pretty nice, prideful, clever, and likes logic. (okay)
Biography: When he was roughly 8-ish, his parents died due to illness, and he raised himself afterward. Recently, he's noticed that something wrong is going on in the government (or whatever it is) and started telling people what he thought. He was quickly taken away. (Wow, a kid noticed the government? Then how is he 15? No go. Either turn the age to 12, or the age when his parents died to 10.)
Special Power(s): force field and shadow cloak. (Weak force field, medium cloak. Okay)
All in all, let me conclude the Moderator's thoughts on applications.
With Topo: Whoever came through me got it easy. I'm lazy, and loose. Unless Thin edits my posts.
With Thin: He's strict, and awesome at this thing. I think he should handle all these things while I slack. :P
Okay, Application results:
Ultima: It's a no.
Kaiju: It's a YES! Fix some stuff, and you're ready to go.
Pow: It's a no.
Skype: YUSH. Change your skin colour, then leave your cell.
Kaiju: Same as Skype. Change your skin colour, grab your Proto weapons, and run into the arena.
Dmatter: Sorry, it's a No. Change your biography or your age, then continue.
