I like how well-thought-out your character is. Deadman is accepted!
Game of Death (roleplay discussion thread)
Now to think of a way to introduce Deadman with out being out of pace :L Guess I should start in that room or?
Creep's and Pow's post were 90% derailing for me.
And yeah, Deadman was REALLY well thought of. So much detail made me kind of lol from shock at such good workmanship...
If the current system feels too restrictive, fear not; not all of the story shall take place in the dungeons. ;)
It's not about that. It's about the fact that creep just derailed the whole scene by swarm infecting the lumbers, bringing in a swarm seed, and getting a free pass to the next room, all while ignoring everything else happening. If he can just bring in swarm seeds where ever he wants, that seems pretty OP.
I was just making a general note. But I think it's time to address the problem anyways. Thanks for your input.
@Pow-Posts-Again: do you mind clarifying where your character is at the moment? I do not recall putting Virulisks in the dungeon.
@Creeperlucario: Gzilla is right, the way you're using the Swarm is becoming rather overpowered. Luckily, I already have a good bit of lore in place for the Swarm.
The Swarm infects an agent by planting Swarm spores into an exposed and under-defended substance. The skin and its fungal and bacterial defenses are usually strong enough to repel almost any amount of Swarm. The internal immune system can also repel Swarm spores in small quantities, but they cannot stop it on a massive scale like the skin can. Lumbers are mostly organic (being wooden), and since they have neither an immune system nor a barrier shield of any kind, they are vulnerable and can be infected via direct contact. This much of Creeperlucario's story is accurate.
However, his means of acquiring the Swarm is not accurate. One cannot simply teleport the Swarm from the Unknown Passage, or else the entire planet of Cradle would be overrun with Swarm within a few days. Only Void Chieftans are capable of teleportation, and Lucario does not appear to be a Void Chieftan. So in order for him to create a foothold for the Swarm in the dungeon, he would have to carry a limited supply of Swarm spores along with him on his journey.
I haven't yet settled upon a replication process for the Swarm, so until I figure one out, Lucario shall be arbitrarily limited to infecting up to three agents with his Swarm spores, and no more can be formed automatically.
I'll put it to a vote. Here are some possible replication methods to choose from:
- A critical mass of Swarm Spores condense to form Swarm Seed, which can self-replicate the spores and repeat the process. This seems to be the most lore-accurate method, but it is also the most nebulous.
- Swarm Spores replicate inside every infected agent. Any new spores are used to spread through the agent until it is completely consumed. Any extra spores produced may then be used to infect a new agent. I personally like this one.
- It replicates autonomously and unconditionally. This would eliminate the need to infect a host, however, and thus is not the best choice, IMO.
FYI I have a post mostly ready, but It's at home and I'm at my grandma's useing her computer, which doesn't really have the computer speed to make posts longer than this easy for me the type at a resonable pace without major errors. So yeah, there will be a slight delay in my post.
So here's what I think, the swarm manifests as a not completely 'organic' substance, but rather as something that feeds of the energy persistent within the entire planet of Cradle, and since Cradle is literally a giant machine, one can assume that the swarm acts as a virus that is trying to take hold of it. Since the swarm can not only take hold in the Clockworks, but also possess and consume organic creations, it is safe to assume that the Swarm is actually part mechanical (in a way) and more so organic. Using your proposed 'Spores' the Swarm would, do as you described in your post, to infect an agent, once able to get hold there, they feed off the energy and reproduce themselves. A swarm seed is the more machine-like entity, being capable of ingraining itself into metal and feeding solely off of the surrounding energy, giving it the ability to grow enough to begin to produce the swarm spores, also, since it is ingrained within the metal, it warps that metal, and creates the swarm field which weakens Knights and boosts the strength of nearby Swarm. This would also explain why Lumbers are so easily consumed by the swarm, they're organic, the wood, and metal, the gears!
EDIT: Okay, okay, let's clarify a bit. Swarm seeds are sort of like a self building factory. Feeding off the surrounding energy, the cells in the swarm split and replicate, being able to do so easily, because it is attached to the ground. Once large enough, it expands its field and releases its excess swarm spores, because it can produce lots of spores, if it get's damaged, i.e. being attacked, it defends itself, but also weakens its field, slowly regenerating new cells, until it can grow again. For a creature I think it would be too difficult for it to actually develop more swarm, due to the fact that it is not stable, and must continually fight with the organisms changing body, just to take hold. Imagine building a factory on nice solid concrete, versus on a continually moving and shifting sand dune.
Should I hold off till they are out of the Dungeon then or would it be more effective for Deadman to be part of the group going after the Knights in the Dungeon, due to how it stands since they are accused of murdering a Lt. with no reason thus in the eyes of the order they are traitors and deserve long knifes. Or should Dead be in the Dungeon as well having befallen the same curse as the rest being accused of murder of his Commanding Officer as well? Suppose being a Warden Deadman would more then likely be the person looking into the case and/or hunting down the murderers. As it stands I don't think Deadman would make it past the ropes and the fact its a little late to start the dungeon so in the interest of keeping things moving I suppose Deadman should be part of the group Hunting Cradle for the missing/Traitor Knights.
Or I am thinking too much into this :/
Seatus's character Alice was talking to you, actually, so yeah :D
@Hex aww shoot, I guess I should edit it then.
Sorry about that.
I did have rules to the swarm seed spreading
1. There needs to be enough land to spread. (Without enough land, the seed collapses on itself
2. There needs to be a enemy that can be corrupted. (Wolvers, toxigels/toxoils, zombies (Not curse version), Lumbers and Thwackers).
3. It doesn't work if there is a curse enemy nearby.
I was NEVER in the lumber room, guys. I'm catching up.
If the walls of the Clockworks can withstand a Big Angry Bomb or Nitronome, I think they can withstand your Proto grenade launcher.
No more blasting walls and stuff with it, okay?
Alice was talking to Axis! I'm sorry D:
That's it. I'm not doing this anymore. Thinslayer HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX'd my grenade launcher and made it really weak. Grenade launchers in every other game can do huge damage (see the explosive weapons in Red Faction, they are CATASTROPHIC!) while you make my grenade launcher look like a baby's punch deals more of a payload.
@Pow: You know why? You just combined two weak weapons to make a weapon stronger than 5*? What the? We mods have to take this out.
@Thin: Might be good to read the mail I sent you, and tell the participants. After you post that, I'm having fun with Eve.
So basically the room is filling with gas due to Topo's work? Does the gas kill us? Does it knock us out?
I secretly inflated the proto bomb and made it angry.
@Pow
Well, what you combined was a Proto Gun and Bomb...
@Tops
If I'm gonna be the first one to die, at least have Eve hold a high caliber gun.
Well I just got off work. Thin if you are on, can you give me advice on where Dead should start? As stated before, if it came to the ropes part he would more then likely plumit, even with out the armor on. Just asking were I should start here since I am coming late to the game, should I just start were the Dungeon ends for now or?
All of you can now wake up, in pitch black. You cannot see. No fires, no light. It's as if you're blind. (Are you? Not permanently tho).
Trojans lurk around every corner, as you hear them grunt and snarl, but they are fixed in position. In your hands are a familiar weapon. The Calibur. You also have a blaster. You're still wearing Proto gear, and using your proto shield.
Find a way outta this!
Huh, I thought thin was the one who decided what the event happened or did I miss something?
I'm also a mod, Creeper. :P
I'm the 'operator', the guy who designs traps and stuff. :P
Ok then.
EDIT: Also added the start of the dark trojan room
I just woke up and now I need to go to church, but before I do, AUGH! just ignore my last post for now, okay?
Well I suppose this would be better then any spot for Deadman since the Warden's Armor looks like the Trojans how about Deadman be in that room but bound in place needing a hand to get out. :/ I mean it would make some since. Everyone is blind and can only hear the Trojans snorting so if they bumped into Deadman they would think he was a Trojan unless they took a closer look, just pitching an idea is all :/
Also I see I am the only one with out a image here above ma name. :L Thats what I get for having this on Steam.
I think that is a good idea but Thin needs to decide it.
Creep I think, 1 if that is were Deadman is at, you would make a bee line for him. Since Dead has not made it into the story completely yet I can speculate. Reading how I did, you can since something that the Swarm can infect. Knowing what I know about the Warden Armor, as long as Dead has it one, his whole body is completely incased inside of shell of armor. The Mask working more like an air filter, since they have to do some things seen as less then desirible it would make since a Warden's Helm and Armor are sealed tight to the body as to give them some ability to move, even if it does slow them down and have limits on how they can move. It seems more befiting that Wardens would be more equip to handle the Swarm infestation, but they would need their armor majorly cleaned. Getting into my own though and Detail here.
My point being, I am able to say this right now. But seeing how you have been going at things Creep, I am more then safe in my though to say if Deadman were in that room and able to be helped. YOu would go out of your way to infect him and/or make sure he becomes corrupted as to aid you in some way shape or form. Again I am assuming this before I know if I am aloud to start in that room or not.
Topo, if there WAS light, would we be able to see?
Are their any trapdoors in the dark trojan room?
I haven't drawn it up yet, so I have no clue. Topo may have told me in-game, but I haven't had the chance to check yet. I would guess that the room is mostly empty, though it ought to be small in order to maximize the challenge. It's hard to dodge Trojans in small places. And if there were spike traps or shadow fire behind you...
I'll think on it. >:D
My part for the room kind of shows that.
Guess I will assume Deadman is in that room bound to inplace of one of the Trojans. This would make since as I stated before, Wardens Armor is resmiblince of the Trojans' body style. Also, will I still retain my weapon and shield. Since this is a game mode and all that lovelyness.
And I am off work right now, won't ahve to go back till monday night woot.
My IG and original forum account is Steam. And it had a symbol. You can set it using forum preferences.
It is a Hoilday in the US IDK about the rest of the world so it stands to reason people are more then likely with their families, my dad is in another state so I can't see him and I am out off gas for my truck thus I am right here with ya'll.
@Darkwatch, you were right! He did make a beeline for you!
@Creep what are you talking about by corridors? And if you're referencing Thin's map, it is a top down view, so there is not a path 'going up right or down' there is a path on three of the walls, and you wouldn't be able to see them. Also, you can't really assume the door is locked, or that there is a door at all, Top or Thin would have to say so, you 're not allowed to make up your surroundings.
Gzilla, I will remove what I did about confronting Axis, since everyone is pretty much moved ahead...
Thin, you said that we wouldn't be stuck with this kind of, trap room, only one way out thing, forever. Is that when we reach that large room on the map that we technically don't know about?
I said that it should be possible (though not easy) to get out without so much as a scratch. It's still possible (though unlikely) in a room full of Trojans.
Besides, if you look at the map, there are 4 doorways in your current room. The west one (where you came out of) is locked.
Question, how does one escape from a head lock with out so much as a whim. Well I R confused because of how Creep had posted I was sure he was right on top of Dead thus what I had put. So unless I am wrong and if I am I will go back and correct my self, but I should still have a Creeper by the head trying to get someone attention.
When I walked back to you Dark, I collapsed at the side of you but I wasn't specific enough.
Alright I will go back and fix it. But fromthe look so it you backed off and bolted away.
I have a lot of reading to catch up on. T^T
Wait, Spores? HMMMM
But then, I will set some damage back to Creeper. How can you run from *lots* of trojans without being hit? That's like impossible!
Well I just set Deadman on a broken arm chance xD Seems having a dislocated arm helms escape. I find it odd, I can dislocated my arm at will and does not hurt. My dad does it and he is in pain. :/ Damn me and my double jointed self.
But you somehow moved from the rope room to the next room without any detail as to how. Not to mention the rules stated that you can't assume what's in the next room.
