Straight and simple. Game mechanics stay the same. Just add an option so that some of the bigger guns/swords like the Polaris and Catalyzers, and Avenger and Troikas can be held with both hands.
A Cosmetic Suggestion: Holding weapons with both hands. READ THE OP!!!
-1
Shielding is a essential part of game, you can't take it away.
Also, I'm wondering how trolaris and a catalyzer are big, because they don't seem that big to me
I'd also like to see a "left-handed" option that mirrors all the knight's animations.
@Martial
If it's that big of a clipping issue, the shield could be replaced by a "two handed shield" that is the same size as the Swiftstrike Buckler but gives the stats of the equipped shield.
@Pipipipipi
How about you actually read the suggestion? Who said he's taking the shield away?
Um if you hold your weapon with both hands, how exactly do you hold a shield? You want knights to have three hands?
@Hexzyle
My mind immediately goes to Grey Owlite shield... I really wouldn't want it if it was any smaller. I already clips pretty badly XD
Alright guys, time for a small history lesson. During the 11th century or so, Kite shields were invented. They are large shields which are strapped to your arms, only closer to the elbow. And if you look closely at the SK shields, they float right by your elbow.
@Arkate
I did not know that about bucklers.
@Martial
I meant the size and shape. It would be a circular shield like the Swiftstrike, but it would have Owlite colors and glow.
Yeah, nice try trying to sneak in another failed dual-wielding suggestion! LET'S GRAVEYARD THIS MOTHER!
I'd just copypasta and reword what Hex said, but I don't wanna right now.
If a dual wield is cosmetic, there's nothing wrong with it. You have my support.
Failed dual-wielding suggestion? What about this suggestion is "failed"?
Am I the only person who actually read the suggestion besides Hexzyle?
*Reads through the posts*
Oh wait, like half the posters did but the other half didn't.
Maybe those people should learn to read or just stop posting in this section of the forums.
I feel like nobody even reads other peoples posts anymore. They just shoot down any idea they see. Kind of like you used to hex.
Some people just go to the suggestions forum to look for something to complain about, and if they can't find any flaws or like it they'll just keep quiet. Trolls, you may say.
@Waffle Am I the only person who actually reads all posts in smaller threads? ;)
I don't hate ideas, I just try to keep threads filed and sorted. Which tends to look like hate sometimes. Saying that, I did used to lash out quite a bit at people who said dumb things, but rarely any more.
+1, as long as it doesn't somehow break every animation that exists. It would look much cooler. And yes, shields aren't held in the off hand, they're mounted on the wrist by some magical floaty thingies.
Why do people care soo much about cosmetics? Too many cosmetics have been added to the game and now its time for new game play stuff. -1 to this idea.
Because apparently, according to Marksmen, when Three Rings decides they're going to make cosmetics, they put all 10 or so of their developers working purely on those cosmetics, and no other work gets done for the entire duration of the promotion.
Hex (and Klipik), don't worry, I don't mean you. I mean people who really hate. I could name some but it would be against the rules, I guess. Also, lolz about your last post.
Batabii, notice how your shield is on your back while charging a bomb. This could work the same.
Do you realize, that of the 20 people working on Spiral Knights, a very small chunk are actually working as modelers and animators? And for professional, experienced ones such a cosmetic might take a couple of days to fix.
And have you noticed that no game play content has been added for a while now? You say that only few people work on cosmetics. Then what are the rest doing? And you said that this would only take a couple of days to make but why bother when you can use those days to start working on new game play content?
marksmen, battle sprites, including the collector, are game play content. compounds if you want to be more direct. OOO has always been slow due to the little number of devs they have. that's the problem, they are few.
+1
Imagine holding a Magnus like a shotgun :D
Sure, but battle sprites are in need of a buff. And how long did they take for this and the compound levels to be created? I am saying that they should get started working on game play content now so that we don't have to wait till soo long. And I mean new equipment that is not just a different look for a equipment and has the same stats. This cosmetic idea can be created after more game play content has been added. Finally, you said that there are only a few devs, which is why not much game play content has been added in a while, but yet people want them to work on cosmetics? We already have enough cosmetics, too much that most people probably won't even use them all. I am not saying no to any more cosmetics forever but rather that devs should stop creating cosmetics for now and focus on game play content. The cosmetics such as costumes and different looks for equipment are only obtainable by getting a prize box with real money or so much cr that I'd rather spend the car on a equipment with great uvs. If more cosmetics is going to be added, at least make them more accessible, besides the hallow and frost costumes although surge and hunter do cost a lot.
P.S what I meant by game play content being added to the game, I mean equipment, mostly weapons.
gameplay content is not equipment, equipment is equipment, gameplay content is something you can play.
cosmetic things take relatively little time to do and can buy time while earning $$$.
suggestion forums is not "do this naw OOO". we are throwing ideas at nick's face and see what happens. we don't say dates. we just want the things implemented, it doesn't matter when. well, we want to play them I guess, but it's a long term investement with OOO little dev number.
"gameplay content is not equipment, equipment is equipment, gameplay content is something you can play."
Then tell me how you can play the game without equipment. You play the game using equipment. It is part of game play and its why it is a game play content.
@Inferno-Forum
I pray you weren't referring to me when you were talking about people who hate.
If it came across that way, I apologize to Arkate.
I actually like Hexzyle's idea for swiftstrike-shaped shields.
Not saying new weapons aren't new content, but the ones we already have need to be balanced. Also...
Then why aren't they getting balanced. Balancing seems more important than cosmetics.
Stereotyping is bad for the health you know. I of course did actually read the OP (why wouldn't I?), even if it is cosmetic, dual-wielding is still a controversial thing, and I guess I should have clarified that in my last post. Condolences. But that would be impossible considering Steam's stupid log in glitch >.>
Cosmetics are a quick way to earn cash, and a somewhat cool thing. They quite literally take hardly any time at all for a skilled 3d Modeler. Figuring out HOW to balance an item without unbalancing another is much more difficult than adding an animation to an existing skeleton.

How the heck would that work? It would mess with shields and the art would have to be changed for the weapons as well. It would open up a massive can of worms, one that would take ages to work out correctly.
