tl;dr in-game creation kit for SK

Adds a menu that opens up a list of player created levels, has search functions (like every good map list) and sort by buttons (new, rating, plays, popularity, you know the typical stuff) , allows any 30 day or older player (to prevent map spammers) to access a editor like the ones for guild halls but it have every object,pre-set AI, monster,npc, sounds, music and buildings are all available to be moved and placed, you can set paths and behaviours (attack speed, attack pattern, damage, if they speak you can write the text) for everything. Also has integrated support for JDK for advanced users to further build on original/base features. After a level is created instead of saving all the data as images and code (which would take up way to much server space, like 2 or 3 mb per map I would expect) the level's code (including id's for everything , file names of images, AI and location data is all converted to a text file (of around 100kb or so) compressed if necessary then sent to the server to be listed. Just like any editor/creation kit this'll open up almost infinite amounts of content and re-play value that make games like skyrim, castle crusher 3 and minecraft last so long without effort on developers part.

I would love this. But I

I would love this.
But I don't know if the developers would want it since they're always so strict with their game content.
So we can only hope this "Sandbox mode" in the upcoming update will be a good substitute for a JDK.

@Daili

where did you find news on this "Sandbox mode"? Also how can how can any amount of editor content be a substitute for straight up code in JDK?

I read that post, it didn't say anything about this suggestion, can you give a link?

Over several patches, we intend to transform the Arcade into the place it has always aspired to be:
- A sandbox-type experience where unexpected things can happen
- A place where players can farm materials and items in between missions
- A feature that gives players some degree of control over the experience

here, first lines.

seeing closed OOO are on the subject of modding I say that just means a more customizable/reflexible experience where players have more control over what they get in arcade runs, rather then a editor as is the topic of this post

Aotr, here's my suggestion from a while back. It's a lot to read, but go ahead and try to give it a go.

I saw that before creating this post, thought as long as it something you need to earn either through grinding or real money, it's just takes the creativity/idea sharing part right out it as it means only a select few will have access to that part of the game. (and since a lot of creative people could lose interest before getting to that point and it'll make reviewing the game so much harder too)

@Aotr

People are going on grindfests to pay for O:CH, so I don't think that's the problem here.

Nothing is free, Aotr.

Nep. Your suggestion is nothing compared to one I remember seeing less than a year ago. It sort of disappeared though. Hmm...I wonder if I might find it.

There have been suggestions about level editors since the beginning of this game. Honestly, I don't know why 000 hasn't put it on their agenda...

Yeah. There have. OOO just seems to like a lack of transparency in Spiral Knights. I guess they're a little freaked about security, because they're a poor, tiny company that was purchased by SEGA (Which sucks.)
