The Skylark has just reached Cradle. The Owlites and the Kats have nearly finished their war. Lord Vanaduke has recently retaken Almire. You, the player, are about to become an important part of these exciting times. If you wish to participate, tell us who you are and why we should care. Yep, that's all there is to it. No complicated character sheets to fill out, no stats to worry about, just freeform fun. Armor and equipment works however you want it to; you can play as any race known in Spiral Knights lore; you can create your own story and your own goals. Be who you want to be, do what you want to do.
However, this means that the bar is higher. Since it is entirely up to you to decide what you want to tell us about your character, I won't accept anything less than the best, most detailed, most unique characters. Given the highly-freeform nature of this roleplay, players will be expected to adhere very strictly to the standard rules of roleplaying, outlined in the discussion thread, and your character applications must make sense if you want them to be accepted. You will also not be allowed to create or use NPCs; that's the moderator's job. This may mean that the world will be pretty sparsely populated, but that's okay; we don't want it to be crowded.
Some sample (and epic!) art for numerous race types is shown on page 2 of the discussion thread, if you're interested. Please post your character applications there.
Have fun!
The Morai Wars have brought us to the brink of extinction.
We, the crew of the Skylark, fled to the stars
seeking a source of incredible power, our last
hope to save our homeworld.
What we discovered was beyond imagination.
We discovered Cradle.
The technician rubbed his eyes. He'd been losing sleep for several days now, with no end in sight. He was just about to lay his head down on the display when the monitor flashed.
Data overload. Cannot display energy signature.
He tapped the control button again, and got the same result. According to the scanner, the signature was coming from the planet below. He tapped the com unit on his helmet and opened a channel to Captain Ozlo. "Captain Ozlo, the Skylark has identified the source of the powerful energy signature.""At last. Begin preparations for descent. We must harness this power..."
Suddenly, the monitor turned red as the energy signatures transferred from a uniform distribution to a localized area close to the ship. The amount of energy down there was just...just...staggeringly enormous! And...and the rate of transfer! Impossible! He slowly tapped the com unit and exclaimed, "Captain! Energy signatures are shifting! I've never seen anything like-"
But he didn't get to finish his report. The radio channels stuttered and died as several powerful rays of energy struck the Skylark and began to drag it out of the sky. Unable to withstand the immense forces acting on it, many delicate components of the ship began to shatter and explode. As the bow started to tear and rip off, the captain got on the intercom and uttered his last command.
"All hands: Evacuate the ship immediately!"
