As seen here- http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/93938#comment-840200

"there is goin I be a shadow Magnus line with freeze chance, starting with the Magnus."

So lets talk about it then, shall we?

My thoughts are that we don't know if the magnus line will have new mechanics or not- as it would be awfully disappointing if the iron slug weren't fixed, given our new information about the so called shadow-magnus-freeze line.

It'd outclass iron slug 10 to 1 though, given that shadow damage is far better than normal, and that it has freeze- which would enable the user to charge spam heavy damage onto a mob.

You mean information someone posted in a thread that they weren't supposed to? You might as well discuss from the leaked pictures then.

Here's something relevant though, at least one part of that sentence is likely wrong.

I wish they'd just reveal the new guns themselves.

The name "Winter Grave" implies a Ice-themed Shadow weapon. What line it's based off of/starts from hasn't been officially revealed by OOO yet. What can we discuss without getting hit by the Crowbar? Not much.

Yeah. WAIT A SECOND.

Crowbar

Is speculation allowed here? Not sure.

It's just speculation, relax

Let's just say that there's this hypothetical shadow freeze Magnus gun that's Winter Grave. I'm pretty sure that unless you directly link photos from any place, you're free to discuss. They DID provide the name of the weapons in patch notes, heck, we could even say that it's something else entirely, but let's go with Magnus...cause y'know, speculation, heh.

As cool as the idea is and I see the usefulness of shadow + freeze against gremlins, it'd still be pretty poor of a weapon cause the mechanics of Magnus as you mentioned, are bad. It'd sure put Iron Slug further down the pit of uselessness since we'd have 2 specialized types of Magnus to use against all enemies effectively.

Dual switching with stun and freeze would be fun, they'd also make quite the pair of weapons for dual use in Lockdown.

I made a support ticket, as that was what I was directly told to do by the GMs-

"...it seems that person might just be speculating about the gunner update, as it was announced some guns will have their gaps in damage type filled in http://forums.spiralknights.com/es/node/90696, as far as I know none of the new guns have been finalized yet, even if a gun is currently present on the test server there is no guarantee it will be on the game, as changes are bound to happen before a final release." -Atropos

Correct me if I'm wrong (GMs, whom I don't want to offend), but as long as I don't give any clear cut evidence to back my claims, I am free to post entirely backed information, and discuss it afterward? For instance, prior to thanksgiving I could have written-

"There is going to be a snipe turkey."

And not get in trouble at all for that? The excuse "Nick said something somewhere..." could be used to justify the winter grave thing, but Nick said ____ could also be used to justify posting anything else. Nick DID have holiday sales in the past, so I can extrapolate a turkey snipe being added into the game.

This is significant because it means that we the forumers don't have to wait for new content to come out- we can just make claims without backing it up and discuss them way ahead of time. Since there are a small number of posters here, it won't be hard to distribute proofs off of the forums- whenever someone finds something spoilery it usually finds its way around to all interested. Why wait for new content when we can use evidence found in the testing server to make entirely unbacked claims?

But anyway- please stay on topic and discuss the gun. If a GM has a problem with this, they should feel free to say something, because I feel entirely justified, having asked them directly about this issue once- I'm not here to fight them, I'm here to discuss the clearly vague speculation that has been asserted upon me.

As far as the freeze effect goes, I feel like you could use it to snipe a gremlin mender with. The freeze would then allow you to follow that freeze up with a charge from acheron or the likes, which could make it immensely valuable.

I have no mouth and I need to scream

Practically foaming at the mouth with the pre-star leveled guns at my disposal.

Menders are pretty much going to be exctinct if I ever see them. I cant stand it when they flail around on low health, so this gun that is in theory could even out the chances of one reviving another gremlin/healing anything else. Jellies...well..those things are mostly harmless anyways. Mostly.

Unless there is some new water thingie thats weak to freeze, or if alchs will be changed this gun will still probably find a niche over them imo.

Well cool, we can discuss!A

Well cool, we can discuss!
A shadow and freeze magnus would fit very well with the magnus lines that exist already. The "dodging" families are fiends, beasts, and gremlins, and we already have a pierce magnus for those. So shadow for gremlins, and since it's a slower-shooting gun with hard hitting bullets, an equivalent status to stun for slowing enemies would work well, meaning shock or ice. Ice goes especially well, since it's better to have some time between attacks to get thaw damage when using ice, and allows the user of the gun to have time to dodge after the charge attacks.

Let's see, we all "know" that the Gilded Griffin is a piercing antigua line, Grim Repeater a shadow blitz. From a picture I saw before, and that someone else mentioned in a post yesterday, fire and freeze Polaris lines. Not sure what to think of these, I understand a fire version for knockback, but a freeze one? Doesn't seem to really have a good use.
And then the other three 5* guns would be elemental, shadow, and pierce versions of the Valiance.
Not sure which the Phantamos will be.

Zeddy's played the test server and said something about how he gave too much credit to OOO about what the update would be.

I suppose it's about time for a piercing antigua line since OOO made the current lines pure ele or shadow rather than split, it's be rather useful for fiends I'd imagine, although a piercing Valiance would too. Since the buff of the Acheron and the release of the DR, it's good that gunslingers get to be able to make a joke of RJP as well with the Grim Repeater. LOL. And an elemental Valiance would give all those people who wait Polaris something else that they could suggest to swordies wanting a sidearm gun that doesn't have so muck knockback or flashy graphics.

Yes, I do know none of these are for sure. :D However, I don't think OOO could NOT come out with a piercing antigua line without the players howling like about that change from the original Sun Shards.

Good chance of being a Krogmo

Good chance of being a Krogmo reward independent of the existing line (think Electron Vortex). Currently Krogmo only offers 1 gun.

Unless they intend to shuffle the Magnus line about, I don't see how they can introduce a new 3* item into it. The existence of the 3* being a speculation, of course. Not really but whatever keeps us out of trouble.

Actual speculations in order to get people to use these things:
Slight chance of changing the Slug to Elemental. Shame not to see such a handsome looking cannon out in the wild.
Slight chance of changing the Plague to Elemental, so then all 4 autoguns would have color-correct damage types.

Perhaps it is time OOO invested in encryption, if they don't want to give us access to data that is allegedly off-limits, then publishing it in the clear to anyone who fires up the test client would seem counter-effective to the cause.

Your Voltedge isn't safe.

If it was not edited, chances are this is bad info. If it was right, this thread would be gone.

yeah right, if OOO flinched

yeah right, if OOO flinched that would tell us for sure if something were correct.

better to let things lay as they are and have the masses come to their own conclusions.

The name "Winter Grave" doesn't sound like a shadow+ice gun to you? Combined with the fact that we know it to be on the testing forums-

"...a gun is currently present on the test server...", which tells us that he was correct in identifying it as a shadow+ice version of callahan. I could maybe see a few details being off, but even so- we're running out of discussion topics in arsenal, and this offers us a plethora of things to discuss.

Now, last time a weapon "failed testing", it was added to the game and the changes etc. were made regardless of feedback. There is a chance it won't be added and it isn't final, but it probably will be- "24 new handguns" with the name of several handguns makes me think that we aren't about to see this project canceled.

These are all things that have been presented to us by "officials" of some sort. If you want to doubt the "bad info" I'd suggest you research it to verify it on your own. Why this is "Just speculation" is beyond me, but I'm thrilled to discuss the spoilers that are somehow not spoilers.

It's hard to detect sarcasm with text

I, and most likely everyone else that have posted know that there is a shadow + freeze gun.

I'm just saying it's "speculation" *winkwinknudgebackflip* cause it seems everyone is too sensitive about talking about it cause they think they'll get banned or whatever...

It is obvious it's the Magnus, but no one just wants to say.
