Note: this is part of a new series of levels that I will post. If you have level ideas, please post them, I might use them. Most, but not all of, the details for each level will be posted. However, if you (The Spiral Knights Team) would like to use them, feel free to change anything. These ideas are more for use in brainstorming, than in-game, but they could work for either. With that said, please enjoy!

Level Name:
Junkyard

Variety Names:
The Dump of a Dead World
Gremlin's Playground I
Gremlin's Playground II
Deadman's Land
Accidental Automatons

Description:

When the Gremlins tear down a level and fail to rebuild it, they turn it into a garbage disposal unit. Wandering this place, you will find toxic lakes and puddles, rusty and dying constructs, and even the poor souls who died from the radiation. Spiral HQ advises caution to any and all who find themselves here.

Variety Details:
The Dump of a Dead World:

This is the most basic level. It has a few arena style rooms, the enemies are poison, construct, and slime themed. Along with that, there are a few beast enemies, mostly Virulisks. Lastly, the level does have (as all the others do) poisonous puddles, that inflict minor damage and the poison effect.

Gremlin's Playground I-II:

These levels are basically Deconstruction Zones with poisonous puddles and a poison theme. Gremlin's Playground I has a feel of Cravat Hall more than a Deconstruction Zone (but a lot more mechanical of course) and Gremlin's Playground II has a small arena room right before the lift.

Deadman's Land:

First of all, yes, this is a play on No-man's Land. These levels are wide and open, covered in poison vents and puddles, and filled with undead poison enemies.

Accidental Automatons:

These levels are similar in lay out and enemies to The Dump of a Dead World. However, it also has three different construct variations that only appear in those levels. They are all poison themed, and leave puddles of toxin behind them everywhere they go, similar to Oilers. These new monsters are: Wrecka Knights (Mecha Knights), Radioactabots (Scuttlebots), Garbatrode (Retrode).

So, tell me what you think, giving me ideas, share your own, or just bump this thread below!

All I can say is +1 for Garbatrode.

Garbatrode garbatrode garbatrode it's so fun to say :D

Ok, in all Seerusness, this seems like a nice idea. A garbage disposal type area would be really interesting to see. Although there are already the Wasteworks, the poison-themed Clockworks Tunnels. But they aren't really garbage disposal like, are they?

IMO, a different idea of putting mutated monsters in this area seems to fit this; we're dealing with radiation and toxic waste and junk in general it seems, judging from all the poison and stuff. Perhaps some sort of poison-themed mutant Gremlin?

I like the way you think, doctor sir.

Hmm....
I'm not sure about a mutated gremlin, but mutated wolvers and chromalisks would certainly be interesting.

Well, that's +2 so far. Anyone else got anything to say? Any ideas on what I should post next?

The game has a deconstruction zone, why not a construction zone?

I like how the main monsters are constructs and slimes, which pretty much eliminates pierce as a primary weapon choice. It forces players to change up their arsenal a bit.

The puddles, however, pretty much just seem like poisonous spikes (unless I'm reading it wrong). If it doesn't do this already, they should deal a small amount of continuous while insta-poisoning anything that comes within it's range. The damage would be something like 1 pip worth of damage every 5 seconds, but taking damage from the puddle gives no invinci-frames, some monsters can still attack you while in one. You take no damage from the puddle during an invinci-frame though.

For the three new monsters you suggested, they should just drop the poisonous oil-slicks that the Toxoils from C42 drop instead of puddles. Since there is no fire themed monster on the floor, the only way these can be set ablaze is purposeful by the player, so there would be no raging inferno problem. Wrecka Knights should also drop 4 oil-slicks when they execute their charge attack.

P.S
The Deadman's Land floor name reminds me of the anime, Deadman Wonderland.

toxic stuffs? radiation?

make slimes out of them!
yeah, slimes are basically eating anything, so why not introduce "waste slimes"
they look similar to toxoils, with a few differences. first of all, inside of them they have one core and some random garbadge (you could use the sprites from the toxic fiends projectile attack) and instead of spikes they have random pieces of metal stuck in them, more in deeper tiers.
we also get "radioactive slimes", which are basically giant toxoils. they look similar to waste slimes, but they always have one barrel of radioactive waste in them.
the attacks are similar to normal toxoils, like tackle, but the spinning attack leaves the metal bits they shoot out stuck on the floor when they hit something or reach max distance. these pieces deal pierce and poison. they also leave a toxic trail behind them. radioactive slimes can do the same thing, while also having a few extra attacks. they still make the generic poison cloud and they can do the spike attack of giant lichens, which leaves about a third of the spikes as floor hazards for a bit.

A THREAD NEVER DIES!

@Mushy Maybe. Anymore details you got for me, though?

@Master They are pretty much poisonous spikes. The point is to add something new visually, while meaning that the team would simply have to reskin the spikes. Easy and (hopefully) fun for everyone. Also, I could see using the same puddles from C42, but still, a lot of people use combusters, and I think there would be a lot of people yelling at each other for accidentally lighting them on fire.

@Neuer Well, I'm not sure about many, many new monsters, but it's still a cool idea.

Anyways, I'll try and post a new level idea tomorrow, but feel free to keep commenting on this one!

Sorry, don't have time to get into in-depth, real good suggestions much anymore, but I will look at it either today or tomorrow. Mostly just look for short threads when I don't have time, or look at update posts that I've already seen.

NUUUUUUUUuuuuu! Tedme, don't graveyard this! I was thinking of making a collection of new level ideas into a giant Mega Thread later on with links to the original ideas (granted this probably won't happen any time soon, but still). I was planning on adding your levels to that list.
