[Map] - New PvP Lockdown Map: "Lights Out!"

Tron inspired, and popped into my head whilst discussing in this thread. I'd like to see a PvP map like this:

This map is completely flat, with 0 obstacles/things in it besides the Capture Points. It is almost entirely dark black. Faint, dark grey grid-like aesthetics can be seen patterning the floor. The only things visible are parts of the players' bodies, their battles, the capture points, and the borders of the map. These borders are outlined in glowing light - this light changes to match the color of the team in the lead. The locker room is lit normally.

The Capture Points are wide open...and so are you.

Player parts visible: eyes, any glowing accessories (prismatic com unit? so pretty! Glow eyes! Amazing!), any glowing parts (like little Vog Cub feets, divine avenger glowing bits, etc.), and most importantly: Class augmentations (shield/flag/striker backpack etc)...Players will be totally discernible (well, except the active recons of course, huehue) so this isn't like, game-breaking. They would just seem to be made of prismatic light a lot of the time, without bodies. Unless your graphix are way off, the hit box/targeting of your opponents should be pretty obvious.

Attacks: bullets, sword swipes, bomb explosions, etc. are visible.

The capture points seem to be floating islands of light. Like insects to their deaths, players will fly to the light! And fight for it! Woo!

Ever want to feel like Tron on a motorcycle on The Grid? Well now you can! As a striker in "Lights Out!" Lockdown! (minus the solid barrier formation...though that would be quite funny. Yeah just think about that...as if striker isn't already horribly unbalanced haha. Actually...this could be something a lumbering guardian leaves behind...maybe 45 seconds?...hmm!).

I think the battle strategies developed for such a vulnerable map would be quite interesting. I imagine gunning would be popular, since there's no cover for targets to take and distance is easily maintained, especially as a striker. Perhaps we would see new evasion tactics evolve. There are similar maps as far as I know, but, no maps with NOTHING in them. And this would feel retro, and pretty too!

In response to recent event(s)...

What about an Apocrea-themed lockdown arena? Big, open, a few landmarks (maybe make the minimap static, or make it static for certain classes), with cover that is destructible. Maybe even have a Harvester show up to make players have to move (And make the guardian shield immune to the tentacles) and make people love/hate the map even more!

But in response to the topic here, I have an idea! What if strikers leave a line of color behind them when they use their boost that will disappear after 10 second or they die? This would make a "sneak attack" possible the less you boosted, as otherwise you'll have a line leading right to you. Maybe recons could clear the color on their team by walking over it? (Actual teamwork, ZOMG!)

@Fangel Make the harvester

@Fangel Make the harvester target the top damaging players on each team. Would be fun to play on a massive field but strikers would be even more overused than regular maps due to how quickly the can return to base and heal (now supposing you eliminated the in base heal spot then that could be more interesting.)

Ooh...

Maybe this should be its own topic, but we can at least get the ball rolling here.

Having the Harvester follow the top damaging player (on both teams, mind you) would be a good incentive. To add a little more fun into the game, maybe have a single control point in the center of the map, and the Harvester will attack whatever team currently is holding the point? (I.E., if magenta has the point, then the Harvester will attack magenta until green takes the point, in which case the Harvester will attack green) Having a single control point might call for some annoying measures (but it's hard to camp the point because the Harvester will harass you), especially because it's easier to "lock down" the point. With 3 control points, whoever owns more control points can have the Harvester on them.

I'd love to have Lockdown games where NPCs show up to make teamwork more viable. Having mobs in the game (either rare or as the map "gimmick") makes for a different playstyle. With a harvester around, recons would make for a great point capper, and every class actually would have its own defense against the harvester(Recons cloak, strikers zip away, and guardians can just shield the tentacles).

Indeed, I too would like to see more monsters in LD, not just the random rock jelly or a lone slush puppy in a single map

Move over, there's bubble-wrap to be popped!

I once thought of a map where the Snarbolax chased players but they could get rid of the snarbolax temporarily using a beast bell like in the battles of Snarbolax SL, but I then realized we already had a map that is themed off of Gloaming Wildwoods in LD
