The default way to get orbs is to buy them with energy, which of course you can buy with crowns. On those rare occasions when you don't have to buy orbs, because you have found enough orbs in the dungeon, you should be pleasantly surprised.
If you want to try to find orbs: To learn which strata offer which orbs, read the wiki page "Rarity". Once you know your stratum, try to do levels with lots of treasure boxes: arenas, danger rooms, etc.
The question "How do I earn crowns?" has been asked in literally hundreds of threads. Try searching Google for something like "earn crowns site:forums.spiralknights.com". By the way, your orb question has also been asked in many threads. Use a web search engine (not the built-in forum search) to get fast answers to your questions.

Kingsamerb, here are some crown-earning ideas, which you will find while searching:
* See data on mission crown payouts.
* Buy certain recipes at Basil and re-sell them for big profits. These are recipes that you can't get at the Hall of Heroes, such as boss item upgrades. But not some of them. You have to examine the Auction House to learn prices.
* Seek out arenas and danger rooms.
Well yeah sure you can go out and find more to take from levels etc., but to really get your fix you need to inject them directly into your bloodstream.
The best way to get a high from these "rarities" is to first grind them into a fine dust. This rarity+crown dust can then be mixed with a small amount of cough syrup and "crystal energy" to form a runny paste which is then injected into your arm or wherever, I won't judge... I've seen others snort the dust directly, but I've tried both and have been doing this for a few months now and trust me when I say that it's A LOT better.
