gunner update, arcade redux... every cool news the devs had trown at us now seem buried somewhere in a dessert... i'm not going to keep comming back to the game every so often to see if they finaly released some new stuff...

While I was reading the text on the front page announcement, something struck me as a little odd. I don't know if this is hinting at anything or not but I might as well point it out anyway.
'Spiral HQ recently conducted an extensive study of the Jelly monster family. This research has produced a new line of slime gear and accessories. Knight Walkon, who was found SLEEPING in the Hall of Heroes, commented ‘So squishy!’ before he DOZED OFF again.'
The points of interest are in all capital letters. Sloom reappearance confirmed, anyone? Either that or I'm thinking too deeply about this...

reskins, etc etc. the art is pretty cool though ... now, if only they were real unique gear that actually did something functional ...
(hmm. do you guys think that maybe this prize box volley's a kind of build up of unfulfilled hopes so that they can awe you with the coming "big update"? or are they planning something by going for the trouble of showering us with glittering inane variations of content?)

I'll be honest, those headphones look really damn sexy, but everything else seems pretty mediocre.
Also the constant barrage of promotions over the past few weeks has been kind of silly. Wonder how long they'll keep it up.

My opinions
Helms: %^*@in' awesome but doesn't look good with anything else but the guards.
Guards: Pretty damn awesome, I spent like 4 hours today looking to buy one until some guy with a heckload of 'em gave me one for free when I asked to buy one.
Recievers: Why is everyone so hyped up about accessories that look like Beats headphones?
Containers: Same deal as the helms.
Crushers: If I'm right, the Crushers are reskins of the Sudaruska. Just get normal Sudaruska, it looks a heckload cooler. Which would you prefer: a flat #^%&!in' stupid pizza flipper made of jelly or a subspace sword that's so dense that most of itsmass can't even be stored inside and is converting to energy and breaking the entire #%(^#in' sword apart into a deconstructed ultra-heavy badass fear inspiring mountain of a blade?
Walls: Reskin of Ironmight Plate Shield, if you're looking for one, get this, as it looks way cooler and comes in 5 different colours.
Writhing Tendrils: NYI
Field Node Aura: I'm thinking it won't look good with many different things.

Imo, ideas for promos has ended for OOO. Though it is not just stupid recolor, so this promo gets my plus. Btw, it's good idea to reskin gear, I might buy one someday, but since they are reskining mostly heavy gear its sucks. C'mon, I want some brandish reskin, or cutter line maybe and some swiftstrike buckler reskin.

While they do look pretty nifty, I'm honestly not too interested in spending money on yet another promo. It'd be neat if this slime gear was actually functional. Perhaps each of the "flavours" (Divine, Toasty, Cool, etc.) could've had different status resistances as well. But, of course, it's just cosmetic. Sigh.

I personally really like the new stuff. The costumes aren't reskins, weapon reskins, which is mah favorite kind of reskin, and a boatload of new accessories.
I'm not complaining. I can be a weird jelly monster that looks like it belongs in Phantasy Star Online. That's pretty nifty.

as far i know sudaruska dont have the "stun" status on the weapon stats, but still the charge deals stun sometimes, the same thing goes for the node crusher, i have used lot of time the charge and i have deal stun on enemies, so in the end... it just a sudaruska reskin (its the same thing in other words).

Dang, I totally forgot that stun isn't even on sudaruska's stats. They should really get round to fixing that. Thanks for clarifying.

I just read all of the descriptions on the crusher, wall, helm, and guards. The amount alliteration in there is absolutely stunning. Bravo, OOO. It really made me giggle and sorta want those things.

I love how there's less than 1% chance of getting either 6 of the tendrils or an aura. Thanks OOO for allowing only 1 in 10000 to have an aura, like we even have that much PAYING players!

If there was more players the prices would remain the same because more players = more demand, so even if we had a trillion players the chance for someone to get their hands on rare accesories would pretty much be the same.

I also love (sarcasm) that they used to tell the percent chance, but as business practice goes now they don't even disclose it. I suppose of all my conspiracy theories on gambling, they must make more money than ever if people "THINK" they have a chance at anything.
Sadly people are just going to have to blow money on virtual "hats" they don't want thinking "IT'S BETTER BECAUSE IT'S MORE RARE".

I'm a little disappointed
I'm a little disappointed that I can't use my slime container with other armor front accessories. It would be neat if they made an armor side slot for accessories like the Node Slime Containers.

The "business practice" is that they aren't even trying anymore? Oh energy? You don't need those, have some prize boxes for the same amount of money, and maybe there's a chance to get that aura you wanted so much. Oh noes, it's like 0.143% chance (I'm lazy for precision) of getting that aura! In the end we're probably gonna have only 1, if lucky 2, circulated around the market. Well good job!

Wasn't there a complaint rage amongst the lot of you when we had energy to come with prize boxes? Sure wish we had those still so you could use some of that energy to get the actual thing we want from someone else.
But hey, it's a good "business practice" to cut some of the options from customers, right?
Art team is not dev team I get that.
As far as I can tell, all of these items are cosmetics or reskins.
That said, why has it taken them over a year working on the gunner update? If the devs/coders are NOT in any way responsible for these prize box promotions, why are they dragging their feet? Even the Battle Sprite update didn't take this long...and AFAIK it's not even a huge change in game mechanics like that was, just a few new weapons with new stats, and maybe some minor tweaks. The July 2013 update changed WAY more than the gunner update will...
