I dream,

Within my dream,

I saw a world,

Without Kings and Queens, no rules, no boarders,

A peaceful little island, floating in the middle of nothingness,

Away from this wolrd's struggle,

I will wait you here even till the end of eternity,

For you were the one who taught me what it meant to be free,

Thank you.

Summary of the story in the previous SK: Project Retribution:
Desna, while on the mission to raid one of Herex's secret lab, stumbled upon his latest project code named 'Retribution'. She and her squad was attacked by one of Herex's 'fruits of labour', a gene modified super soldier by the name of 'lifeless' he was one of the four Gremlin super soldiers Herex created, nicknamed the 'four hoursemen of the apocalypse'. After subduing the supersoldier, Desna was able to convince 'lifeless' to join her in an attempt to sabotage Herex's plan. After defeating the three of the other four horsemen, Desna and 'lifeless' were confronted by the true fruit of Herex's labour, Type-Omega, a monster of true perfection who believed that her will alone was worthy of ruling cradle and all of its denizens, however, thanks to 'lifeless' heroic sacrifice, Type-Omega was destroyed. And so ended Herex's chance of defeating Tinkinzar, but little did Desna know, the whole time Herex was collaborating with Ozlo, who shared a common enemy (Tinkinzar) with him... the mad scientist will not give up so easily, but so was our tenacious recon ranger Desna, who would do anything in her power to protect Cradle from whatever monstrocities Herex had in store for her.

Interval-00: Insurrection

"It will never happen again, mister Ozlo..." whispered Herex sitting in a secret lab deep within the clockwork, far beyong the reach of any spiral knights garrison or any gremlins, on the other end of the static monitor was none other than the head of the spiral order, captain Ozlo. The old man grimmiced at the mad scientist and frowned upon his previous failure to produce the ultimate bio organic weapon he promised. Ozlo invested alot of crowns into Herex's project hoping that his creations could cause chaos within the great colony, thus he can then focus his forces and defeat the mad Gremlin king once and for all. Now all of Ozlo's investment had gone to waste thanks to Desna's unintentional sabotage.

"Type-Omega was destroyed," sighed Ozlo while looking unimpressed. In order to push Herex further into the mess he was already in he continued, "Your four horsemen of the apocalypse had failed to stop Desna from interfarring with the 'project', maybe next time, you can get rid of her before more of your work is sabotaged..."

Seeing that one of his biggest sponsor is backing out on him, Herex hastily putted up a smile and tried to apologise, "I am DEEPLY sorry, mister Ozlo..." Ozlo tilted his head and allowed Herex to continue, Herex wasted no time and started to re-advertise himself, "Miss Desna was an anomoly in my grand scheme... she will be dealt with, I ensure you..."

"And make sure her death look like the action of the dark fangs..." said Ozlo before checking the CCTV camera recordings on his office desk to ensure no one was eavasdropping on his conversation with the whispering venom, "...That way, I will get more popularity in the spiral order... then it would be much easier for me to launch an assualt on the great colony without facing too much objections."

"I see..." chuckled Herex, deep in his poison ridden heart he knew that it would only be a matter of time before Ozlo back stabbed him and claim the entire cradle for himself. So he made sure to keep his sponsor in the dark and showed his fake loyalty to Ozlo, "I will send two of my best soldiers to remove her from the equation, tomorrow, assign her to a mission out side my lab and I will make sure she dissappear as if she never existed."

"We will be in touch, Mister Herex..." shutting down the private link, Ozlo opened the blinders in his office to see the outside, where new recruits and veterans alike wondered about their daily business beneath cradle's infinite sunshine. All too oblivious to acknowledge Ozlo's sinister deeds, when Ozlo wathced over the ignorant masses from far away, he knew it was up to him to keep them safe and under controlled. Although he might be a gentle shepherd on the outside, he had no problem putting down the sick goats in order to keep the herd uninfected. In this case, Desna was the 'sick goat'. Althought she was a great contributors to the war, to Ozlo, Desna was nothing more than a loose cannon, ready to jeopardize his plan of a new Isora at anytime, or rather, cradle under new management.

"I remebered how I sent you and the Iron wolfs to the belly of the beast in the Morai war,Desna," said Ozlo to himself with a great dose of nostalgia, "You should have died back then... but you didn't... I purposefully pulled back any reinforcement when you were stuck with Type-Omega, I thought you would be dead within minutes," Ozlo paused before gruffling like an angry old wolver, Just the thought of how much Desna had cost him made him mad on the inside, "But you cheated death once again... However, your lady luck is running out..." Ozlo lighted up a cigar before taking a deep puff at it, then he used the cigar's burning tip and rubbed its ashes bitterly against an old photo of Desna, "You will die one way or another, my new Isora will have no rooms for a freedom fighter such as your self..."

I will pretend everyone is reading.

Interval-01: Deceit (pt.1)

Sitting inside a white confined room, Desna stared blankly at the tiled floor, refusing to acknowledge Doctor Morlin's presence, who was on the other end of the table that she was sitting on, "Tell me, Miss Desna..." said Morlin patiently at Desna, he picked up a piece of Rorschach test card and presented to her, "...what do you see? And while you are at it, tell me about project retribution."

Desna rolled her last functional eye and lazily replied, "Let's see... hmmm, that must be your mama! HA!" She happily leaned her legs onto the table and began to spite the doctor, "Look, I don't want to talk about Herex or his stupid project! Can I go back to my rangers now?"

Doctor Morlin frowned realizing that Desna wasn't taking the test seriously, "Captain Ozlo requested me to extract more informations from you about Herex's so called 'project retribution'," said Morlin with a syringe drawn from his pocket, "I hope I don't have to administer truth serum to make you talk..." Desna wasn't about to give in just to a needle, she had seen worse.

In order to intimidate Morlin, Desna pulled down her hound coat and leaned her naked shoulder towards the doctor, "Try me, tough guy!" she grinned, thinking that the truth serum will have no effect on her. Morlin raised his eye brows and jabbed the needle into Desna's arm and quickly withdrawn the needle. Seeing that Desna under estimated the strength of the Serum, Morlin grinned. "What are you laughing at?!" Desna yelled spitefully at the doctor, but Morlin remained silent, but just as she was about to curse him more ,the serum came into effect, Desna's eyes soon dialated and her thoughts went blank.

"Good," Morlin smirked, "Now then, Miss Desna, are you ready for some questions?"

"Yes," said Desna in a blank tone who was now under the effect of the serum, "Morlin, I like your green eyes... I find them rather... sexy..."

"Woah," Morlin cringed and almost fell off from his chair, "Damn... maybe the serum was too concentrated..." sticking to his orginal goal, Morlin took out five photos out of a yellow document and spred them across the table, "So, miss Desna, these are the photos of the four horsmen and Type-Omega, would you KINDLY tell me what they were like and how did you succeed in defeating them?"

"Okay, Morlin..." Desna pointed towards the first photo, "This guy, is Type-042, 'the war', one of the horsemen. He was the first one I encountered..."

Suddenly Desna paused and drooled, it seemed that the truth serum had side effect on Desna's psyche. Out of concern for her health, Morlin wipped Desna's face clean with a hankerchief and she expectedly continued, "He was some kind of mix martial artist before he signed up to Herex's project... he got much stronger after his heart was enhanced, allowing him to move and punch at super human rate. He was the only guy I managed to subdue on my own, appearantly he misunderstood his order more than he think he did..."

"So, in another word," Morlin analysed Desna's describtion and concluded, "Type-042 was the grunt of the four horsemen, obedient, simple, yet deadly..."

Before Desna could explain the next horsemen properly, Ozlo barged into the room armed with a serious look. The drugged ranger captain looked back at the captain and muttered, "I don't like Ozlo's hat, it is... so silly..." The drooling resumed and Desna started to spacing out again due to the truth serum's side effect.

"Excuse me?" said Ozlo, suprised by Desna's random remark about his appearance.

"Sorry sir," Morlin apologised to Ozlo, "but I administered miss Desna here with a shot of truth serum a moment ago, the effect will wear off within a few hours."

Ozlo nodded his head before ordering Morlin to return to his daily work, now left alone with Desna. Ozlo narrowed his eyes at the drugged ranger captain, like a web spider closing in on its tangled prey, he debriefed Desna in an ominous tone, "Lieutenant, I have a new mission for you... our forward recons have located one of Herex's last secret hide outs on cradle. Assemble your rangers as soon as possible, destroy all lab assets with extream prejudice."

"Yes, sir..." while Desna mumbled, Ozlo thought to him self, "You will not survive this time..."

Enemy inbound

Enemy profile:

Type-055, 'the preacher'

Race: Gremlin male

Age:43

Ability: psionic and supernatural power

Describtion: the preacher is probably one of Herex's most loyal test subjects and one of his best spies within the great colony, right under Tinkinzar's nose. Along with his fellow comrads, they formed the so called the 'Snakes of Eden' group. Like the 'four horsemen of apocalypse' from Herex's original plan, the 'snakes of eden' are consisted of four members. Type-055 fashioned dirty grey robe with a brown hood covering most of his head, this allowed him to blend into the gremlin civilian population easily. 'The preacher' often mumbled religious phrases before his attacks and he deeply believed that Herex was a savior sent from the paradise above and it was his duty to spread the words of Herex's deeds, straight into Desna's brain.

--------------------

Type-185, 'the nihilist'

Race: Isoran male

Age:21

Ability: magnetic power, high frequency final flourish (HF FF)

Describtion: formerly an elite spiral fencer, unsatisfied by Vaelyn and his colleage's inactions in the conflicts, this young man left Haven and volunteered to Herex's experiment. A rare sight of selflessness, at least, that was what Herex thought. Armed with a modified valkyrie raiment enhanced with electromagnetic modules, a master collaboration of both spiral and gremlin tech, the nihilist can lift large metal objects at will and he also had a high frequency final flourish. HF final flourish is capable of slicing through metal plates and other obstructions, rendering even the most advanced spiral order's shields and body armours obsolete.

Hello? Anyone?

Interval-01: Deceit (pt.2)

The death trap was set, now all Ozlo had to do was wait. Desna wondered back to the ranger barrack with a throbbing head, one of the few side effects of the truth serum. But little did Desna knew that Morlin was working for Ozlo, the serum was mixed with a large dose of dopamine, designed to throw Desna off her peak physical performance, impairing her ability to fight when confronted with Herex's experiments, hence sealing her doom. On his way back to the bio tech building Morlin twiddled his thumbs, filled with worries and regrets, he feared for the ranger captain's safety, "Ozlo... " doctor Morlin whispered, "...you monster... how could you do this one of you own?"

Returning to the ranger barrack, Desna got her self equipped and rallied up the recon rangers. The grunts in yellow lined up and waited eagerly for orders. With some of her senses returned, Desna inspected her squad from left to right, each one of them ready to face their end with a smile. She originally planned to bring as many veterans as possible, the more was always the merrier. However, raiding Herex's lab was no normal mission and Desna learned her lessons in her enocunter with Type-042, which costed her three valuable rangers.

"Alright rangers," Desna crossed her arms with a grin, the rangers were on the edge of their seats, ready to see some actions, "I want one volunteer to a two men stealth mission, that volunteer and I will infiltrate one of Herex's secret lab-" lines of excited rangers were shuddered by that name, 'Herex' the whispering vernom, many could still recall the horrors back in compound 42, the ghastly sight of Herex 'failed' experiments were traumatizing to many. Desna sighed, but she could sympathize with her fellow rangers, Herex was, even till this day, her biggest fear.

"I will tag along captain," a ranger stepped out of the crowd and stood tall in front of Desna, the volunteer was a serious looking young man, judging by his relatively untarnished armour and the youth on his face, Desna knew he was just a rookie. There were hundreds of recon rangers in the unit and often than not, Desna can forget their names. "What is your name son?" Desna chuckled, "You don't have to force your self."

"The name is Eli," said the ranger, "If no one else here wants to volunteer than I shall come along... Herex took my brother David."

"Don't tell me you want to bring him back..." Desna became concerned, she knew all too well what Herex will do to anyone he captaured in the field, "This is a stealth mission, I don't want our cover be blown by some young boy's misguided heroism..."

"I won't," Eli reassured Desna, "I won't make a fool out of myself on the field, captain, I promise, and also... this mission is personal to me," Eli paused, slightly overwhelmed by the idea of rescuing his sibling," Herex abducted my younger brother. I must do somehting before other people's family are stolen by that mad man!"

Stunned by Eli's determination, Desna tabbed his shoulder and handed him a sword, "Let's not waste any more time, David is probably waiting for us out there... we shouldn't keep him waiting..." Eli's fellow squaddies were just as shocked by Desna's decision as Eli, who expected Desna to reject him out right. The ranger captain was taking a risk here, she knew it was suicide to bring a rookie to this kind of mission, but Eli was different, unlike her, who had nothing to loose in the case she was killed in action, Eli had a family, one that he would cherish and that reason alone made him worthy of the mission. And since everyone else stood down, Desna was left with no choice but to take the determined rookie.

"YES MA'M!" with Eli's salute, the two embarked onto the epic quest, steeled for the incoming onslaught.

Meanwhile, in a remote location not too far from the lab Ozlo's scout pin pointed, a robbed gremlin waited for the expected intruders. The robbed gremlin was Type-055, the preacher, his eyes glowed as he peered into the future. "I see, a great battle a head of us it is of great ferocity..." the old Gremlin mumbled superstitiously, "Nihilst... be ready, our savior demandth Desna's death."

"Savior? HAH!" the nihist laughed in the cockiest way possible, the nihilist was another one of Herex's experiments, serial number: type-185. He overwatched the lab perimeter from a vantage point above, seeing that Desna hadn't arrive to her death, the nihilist ridiculed at type-055's superstition for fun, "You are a fool old man! And the only reason why I am working with you is because I owe Herex money modifying my suit!"

"How ungreatful of you..." responed type-055 like the mad preacher that he was, a nick name well suited for his role and belives, "Herex gave our life purpose! We are here only to serve his will... we are the snakes of eden, sent here by Herex to guide this world's denizens through their delusions of hope..."

"Hope?" type-158 chuckled as jumped down from his vantage point and briefly cracked his neck, "There is no hope for this world's people, they are all too caught up with money, power and fame!" flashing out an electrified flourish out of his sheath, the nihilist raved with a mad grin, "To me, putting these fools out of their misery is why I am here!"

"Judgement will come, just like our prophet Herex had foresaw long ago," type-055 replied slowly, pretending that his words were of high wisedom, "Our enemy closes, prepare your self... may Herex be praised."

How is my writting?

Interval-02 revelation (pt.1)

Desna and Eli arrived at depth 22, two levels above the bustling great colony itself, a cloud of orange dust greeted the two rangers as soon as the elevator gate was lowered. Readied themselves with goggles and scarfs, the duo ventured into a dry yet windy ravine. The dust wind was a double edged sword, as much as it debilitated Desna and Eli's ability to spot enemies, in exchange it also provided them with great cover, they were virtually invisible in the dust storm. No wondered that Herex chose this as the location for his secret lab.

Staying on high alert, Desna pulled out her machine gun, she aimed her iron sight at the cliff top of the ravine, expecting Herex's experiments to attack from an elevated position, but all was quiet. Eli adapted fairly well to the dust storm, the sand grains slammed themselves against Eli's face, causing great discomfort, but the discomfort was the least of Eli's worries. "Captain..." said Eli, "about my brother David... "

"Yeah, I know," Desna turned towards Eli and acknowledged his worries, "If it is true that Herex captured David, the odds are; he had already played Frankenstein on him... but if that is the case, and Herex sends him against us, then make no mistake. Killing your brother will be for the greater good..."

For a brief second the dust wind cleared. Cradle’s artificial sun shined into the dry canyon, revealing a dark figure in the distance, Desna took a closer look and identified the dark figure as a robbed Gremlin. The Gremlin was none other than mad preacher himself, Type-055.

"Hey, what is a Gremlin civvy doing here?" Shouted Eli who wasn't aware that type-055 disguised himself, "Hey you, what are doing all the way down this canyon? You shouldn’t be here!"

"I am no peasant," Type-055 took of his hood and revealed himself to the two rangers, his naked eyes glowed purple as he sensed Eli and Desna's presence even when his other senses were hindered by the sand storm. "Our great prophet Herex requested you death..."

"That is no civvy," knowing that a fight was now inevitable, Desna pushed Eli into a full cover nearby and fired a few quick shots at Type-055 before taking cover herself. The bullets were stopped in the mid-air by the preacher's psionic ability, in order to intimidate Desna further, Type-055 grinded one of the full metal jacket bullets into dust with his own hand. "Damn!" Desna said to herself, "This is going to get ugly really fast."

Type-158 soon arrived to the scene to back up the preacher while Desna and Eli were still hunkered down, “Wow, you did good job out there,” grinned type-158 in his usual sadistic manner as he flashed out his HF final flourish, “Mind if I join? Fighting these rangers will prove quite fun!”
“No,” type-055 denied the type-158’s request to intervene, “Go back to the lab, and inform the others about the intruders. Make sure to secure the lab perimeters, these two rangers may just be a distraction for their real assault…”

“Fine,” groaned type-158 as he distastefully withdrawn his HF final flourish, sulking at type-055’s decision, “I will tell Null and the General all about these two pesky flies, just don’t kill them all okay? I still want to have my share of the killing!” the dust wind started to gather again, the nihilist wasted no time leaving the scene unnoticed by Desna and Eli.

Herex speaks the truth

Herex is the prophet of the paradise

A paradise without mad kings or selfish captains

You, Desna, you are nothing more than a soldier

A soldier who destroys everything in her path, without ever knowing whether they are good or bad

Today, I shall let you be judged, not by what you have destroyed, but by what you have created...

It is time, for Omega, to rise again.

My fan fic will always have good boss fight

Interval-02 revelation (pt.2)

Another sand storm gathered in the ravine, darkening the sky once again above the rangers in this critical hour. Unable to see Type-055 in the blinding dust cloud, Desna fired at his general direction, the volley of bullets were blocked stone cold by Type-055 psionic force. The preacher’s mind was strong, so strong to a point that they were materializing into walls, impenetrable by ballistics.

“As I traverse through the valley of death… I fear not for the merciful Herex grants me the power to smite my foes!” Type-055’s power was immense, so immense that Desna and Eli could feel it beneath them. Stones and rocks quaked at his wake, with head steam bursting out of his head, Type-055 was ready for combat. To smoke the rangers out from their covers, the preacher used his will to crumble a large boulder above Desna and Eli’s cover, “Now witness the power of faith!!!”

“Move!” Desna ordered Eli to move out of his cover before she was nearly crushed by the boulder herself. Now that the rangers were left in the open, Type-055 unleashed his full power at the rangers. Channelling his psionic energy into a beam of lightning, the preacher blasted Desna with a direct hit, leaving massive dent in the centre of her breast plate. While his captain was down, Eli drew his sword and engaged Type-055 in close quarter, getting close and personal was the only way to do any damage to the preacher in such an intense sand storm.

“Where is my brother David?!” Eli swung his sword madly at Type-055, demanding an answer, the preacher blocked the attack with his psionic shield. “David?” type-055 laughed cynically as he heard the name before, in a surprising turn of event, Type-055 pulled Eli into a stranglehold with psionic energy wrapped around his neck, cause Eli to drop his sword, “… so you are his brother? Now I remembered, David is with prophet Herex now, you are too late.”

Still under the spasm from the psionic attack, Desna spitted and recovered. Upon seeing that Eli was on the verge of death, something snapped inside her, like a ferocious female snarbolax who would do anything to protect its cubs. Desna was sent into a violent rage as she charged into Type-055, the ranger captain tackled the preacher to the ground, resulting him to lose his psionic focus on Eli, saving the rookie from been chocked to death. Catching a breath, Eli was surprised by how fast his captain ran to his rescue, no one could have recovered and ran that fast after been stunned by a psionic blast.

Driven by the urge to protect the rookie in her command, Desna wasted no time landing a few deep cuts on Type-055’s chest with her side blade. Type-055 retaliated with a pulse of psi attack, creating a small distance between him and the rangers. “YOU HERETICS!” cursed Type-055, “I will NOT let a few Isorans ruin my people’s one chance at salvation!”

“SALVATION?!” yelled Desna as she readied her leviathan blade, “WHAT SALVATION?!”

“You idiots will never understand!” said Type-055, with blood soaking out of his robe, the preacher powered up himself again, “WITNESS the power the prophet (Herex) gifted me with! The snakes of Eden will PREVAIL!” the preacher was heating up by the minutes due to the overwhelming psionic discharge in his brain, so much so that he began to levitate off the ground. Soon after, the psionic energy formed a coating around Type-055’s body, shaping into an enemy Desna thought she had defeated long ago, Type -Ω the horned demoness, the four razor sharp claws on her shoulders and where her breasts supposed to be will always have a place in Desna’s worst nightmare.

“I am, I am, Type -Ω” said Type-055 in a robotic monotone, as his pitch increased, he began to sound like woman or rather, a queen, “You have destroyed me once, Desna, this time, you shall savour the pain that I once endured…”

Writter's note:

Type-Ω 'the Queen' is the final boss of the first season of SK: project retribution and what you are reading right now is the second second of this action packed fan fic. Last time, thanks to the fact that Desna had Type-042 'the war' helping her out in the fight, they were able to defeat Type-Ω and ultimately shattering her plan of taking mind control over all the gremlins within the great colony and overthrow Tinkinzar.

Despite been blown into a million pieces by the self destruct mechanism installed on her heart by Herex. The whispering venom was able to salvage her remains and planted bits of her memory into Type-055 the preacher's head, allowing him to create a replica of Type-Ω. And that is what Desna and Eli is about to face: A resurrected, revenge hungry Type-Ω, hell has no fury like a queen with a scorn.

Eli and Desna Vs. Type-055 'the preacher' (Type -Ω)

Interval-03: resurrection (pt.1)
Imbued with the grudge and hatred of Type -Ω, Type-055 began his assault. The attack pattern was all too familiar, with the four deadly claws made of pure psionic energy, Type-055 prioritised Desna and slashed towards her with all four claws while ignoring Eli. The mad preacher held insane power, even the ranger captain couldn’t believe what just one of Herex four new experiments can do. One claw came inches away from pulling Desna’s heart straight out, knowing that she would not have a Gremlin super soldier by her side this time, Desna stood her ground and blocked several blow with only her shield. Type-055 got frustrated and increased the ferocity of his attack, Desna’s brand new ‘bitter end’ was quickly thinned down by the sharp claws. Chunks of metals and rubber fillings flew off with each strike, but Desna stood her ground, refusing to give an inch to the mad preacher.

“Think, Desna you bonehead, think!” thought Desna, pushing herself to came up with a solution, “What would lifeless do if he was here… a weakness! That is right!” And suddenly, she saw an open in Type-055’s attack pattern, just as he was about to close in on her and attack the ranger captain from her rare flanks, Desna shield bashed Type-055’s real body, leaving him and disoriented. The psionic coating was weakened and Type-055 failed to maintain his powered up form, Desna knew this was her chance, “TAKE the shot!” the ranger captain ordered Eli who was slightly further away from type-055, Eli took out his side arm and fire at Type-055, the shots pierced through the psionic coating and headed for the preacher’s head, the preacher focused his last straw of psi power and tried to stop the bullets with his will alone, but despite all of his faith, a bullet made it into his skull, destroying any chance of the preacher fighting back.

Type-055 was defeated, his psionic coating disappeared as he fell into the blood stained sand, even as the red psi dispersed into the wind, Desna could still hear a faint yet monstrous moan in the air, the voice was none other than Type -Ω’s, “Desna… it is not over… YET.”

“It is over now omega,” Desna scorned as she gazed into the clear sky, the dust storm was almost cleared in the ravine, “stay where you are, in my memory…”

“Captain!” Eli’s call startled Desna, she looked around and saw the rookie aimed his gun at the dying Gremlin psychic with a hole in his forehead, “This bastard is still alive! What should we do?” Putting the damaged shield back, Desna ran to the scene, giving Eli a hand gesture to stand down.

“It can’t be….” Type-055 was somehow alive, even though he was incapacitated by the shot in the head, he was still struggling the in the sand, “…How could, two nobodies, defeat someone as perfected as me?!”

“Maybe you should ask that to your prophet Herex,” Desna laughed, “If he is the living god that you said he is, then why is his one of his creation imperfect?”

“Do not question Herex, he is perfect!” Type-055 cursed with the last of his life force, “He is the closest thing on this planet to a living GOD! He had a great plan for this world and we, the snakes of Eden will carry it out!”

“WHAT PLAN?!” Grabbing Type-055 by the robe, Desna viciously interrogated the mad preacher, “Tell me or I may just send you to an early grave!”

“It is too late…” type-055 chuckled with blood dripping down his face, “…project retribution is at its final phase… this planet will be judged and the guilty will be cleansed. The innocents will live on… you however,” the preacher was on the verge of death, but even then, his eyes were clear, staring into Desna’s scar ridden face, “You are a monster… people like you have no past, no future, all you ever did was living in the present… soon, you fate will be decided by our prophet, may Herex… be… praised…” the last breath was drawn and type-055’s furry face went pale, emptied of life. Desna and Eli buried the preacher into the sand and hastily left the scene. Mad men such as Type-055 deserved a nameless death, only that way may his mad prophecies vanish along with him.

Interval-03: resurrection

Interval-03: resurrection (pt.2)

After a while, Desna stopped and ordered Eli to do the same, sitting down on a pile of rocks to catch a rest after the brutal engagement with Type-055. Shaken by the preacher’s terrifying power, the two rangers started to doubt if their plan of sabotage will go through, “Hey, Eli,” Desna smirked at the rookie, “You can go back to the barrack if you want, you don’t have to go through with this…”

“No captain!” Eli replied with absolute certainty, “I can’t! My brother David is still in Herex’s hand! I won’t give up until I get him back!”
Intrigued by the rookie’s determination, Desna smiled in approval, “Okay then, keep your shirt up and we will make it through, and who knows, we might come close to something like rescuing your brother…” Eli looked down, demoralized by Desna’s remark, but the ranger captain knew this was tough love, the chance of saving his brother in one piece was close to zero and Herex would have wasted no time testing on a new specimen.

“So, what does your brother David do anyway?” Desna asked while taking a sip from her water canteen. The dry hot ravine had taken a toll on the ranger captain.

“My brother is… well…” Eli scuffed his head for a moment and continued, “He is a diplomat.”

“A diplomat?” the word hardly rang any bell in Desna’s head.

“Yeah,” Eli knew a soldier like Desna would never be into politics, but his brother David was anything but a soldier, so Eli continued to explain, “He was one of the diplomat representing the spiral order in ember light, with his help, the gremlin exiles decided to work with us, of course, this alliance was frowned upon by the higher ups.”

“Higher ups?” Desna raised her eye brow and smirked, “Let me guess, it is Ozlo isn’t it? That xenophobic bastard! He had the same opinion about the Morais too you know,” Desna paused and showed Eli the massive scar beneath her eye patch, the entire eye socket was ripped off, “See that? This scar was signed by Morai emperor himself! Right before I chopped his head off. Ozlo sent us to a meat grinder back in the invasion of the Morai home world, I was the few lucky survivors of those bloody wars,” Desna chuckled bitterly, the ranger captain could remember how meaningless those wars were and how many knights died in vain, “One day, Ozlo will pay, for all those whom he sent to their death…”

“Ugh, captain?” asked Eli, thinking that he might change up the topic, “Do you have a family?”

“…” Desna murmured before standing up, “My father died in the second Isoran civil war, my mother was executed by Ozlo’s firing squad when she deserted her platoon in the Morai war…” on the verge of tears, Desna swallowed her grief and smiled once again, the confident smile of the ranger captain, who will always watch over her squad, “…This is no time to grief,” Desna stated in a calm manner, “We will never stop until this world is cleansed, or we will face our bitter end together.”

“YES Ma’M!” saluted Eli and the two rangers resumed their journey. Eli watched his captain from her back and he couldn’t stop admiring Desna, it was a pity that she never had any children of her own, if she did, her children would have learned so much more than just ‘be nice to each other.’

Soon enough, they passed the dry ravine and reached an oasis, a nice change of scenery, the place was filled with green and watery streams. The oasis was calm, it was a moment of peace, away from the violent dust storm back in the ravine, but the ranger duo knew Herex’s lair was no doubt hear by. Desna and Eli readied their weapons as they walked past the grassy boarder connecting the ravine and the oasis, into the uncharted tropical forest.

Enemy inbound

Enemy profile:

Type-666, 'the commander'

Race: Isoran female

Age:42

Ability: Desna's clone, all of her strengths and none of her weaknesses.

Profile: Some how, some way, Herex managed to procure a sample of Desna and Type-042's blood. Ask your self this, what happens when the gene of one of the most capable knight in the spiral order is mixed with the gene of the strongest of the four horsemen of the apocalypse? Type-666 is your answer, armed with terrible resemblance with Desna and all of her combat skills, Type-666 might just be one of Desna's most dreaded foes next in line with Type-Ω.

Type-000, 'the Null'

Race: Gremlin male

Age: unknown

Ability: unknown

Profile: Even Herex can't tell you exactly how he made this experiment, so that was why he gave this experiment the serial number of '0'. "the null' was pronounced dead after he suffered a voilent yet unexplained necrosis back in Herex's early day as a bio-terrorist. However, Null was able to reconstruct him self out of the thin air after many years, Herex often called Type-000 the 'living shadow', and now he served as one of the four snakes of eden and perhaps the most powerful. His abilities are unknown even to Herex him self, but the mad scientist had a feeling that null will be a trump card in his sleeve some day.

Attack of the clones

Interval-04: sins of the mother (pt.1)

When there is life, there is death.

Yet we all struggled to live on, trying carve meaning with meaninglessness.

We all want to leave a piece of our own legacy in this world after we are gone.

The only question is, what that legacy is? Gene? Meme? Or a scene?

And how long will this legacy last before history forgets it?

The oasis jungle emitted monstrous cries, all manners of exotic beasts howled at the ranger duo who were just passing by. The sweat secreting from their arm pits were mixed with the smell of hot mud in the air, Desna had already emptied her water canteen, it was embarrassing for her to use up all her water before a rookie like Eli did. Eli on the other hand, adapted himself quite well to the jungle environment, staying vigilant to even the slightest commotions that didn’t sound like a common day animal. His water canteen was still dangling around his belt, from the looks of it, the canteen was at least half full.

“Eli,” said Desna with a pair of dried up lips, “Would you mind share some water with me?” Her throat was sore and dry, as if the hot jungle air was trying suck the water out of her.

“Sure,” Eli was rather delighted when Desna required his help, as much as it was humiliating for Desna, the rookie passed the half full canteen to his captain, “Here, have it all if you want.”

“Woah, wait a second,” said Desna before opening the canteen, she was concerned about the water rationing, “Are you sure? I don’t want you to fight while dehydrated, it is worse than fighting while starved.”

“Don’t sweat it captain,” Eli confidently presented to Desna another canteen, filled with liquid which Desna presumed to be water, “I got another one as back up!” Convinced by Eli’s back up water canteen, Desna relaxed and remoistened her throat with a mouth full of clear water.

The jungle was more vast and dense than Desna had previously expected, but even then, the co-ordinates pin pointed by Ozlo’s scout indicated that Herex’s lab was in the heart of this oasis, no one could really blame the mad scientist for taking that spot as a location for his lab. The location was perfect. With sun still high up in the sky, the two rangers pushed on to the heart of the oasis, where Herex and Eli’s brother David surely resided.

Meanwhile, deep beneath the dense jungle vegetation, in the safety of his highly surveillance lab, Herex planned his next move with regards to Desna, “Type-055 is dead,” Herex was most displeased with the news when Type-158 returned; “ I thought I instructed the both of you to take her on together!”

“Don’t blame this all on me Herex!” Type-158 defended himself, he wasn’t nicknamed ‘the nihilist’ for no reason, the lack of obedience and empathy for Herex’s cause were his best trait, “The preacher wanted to face that she-man by himself, and now look how it turned out!” type-158 groaned with his hand spread wide into the air, “He died before I could pass on the news.”

“His death was all your fault, type-158, maybe you should man up and take the blame next time…” a woman spoke from a hanger in the distance, effectively cutting off the conversation between Herex and the nihilist. She beamed type-158 with cynicism before exiting the shadow of the hanger, standing in the fluorescent lightings, the woman was revealed to be type-666, head of the snakes of Eden. Her sultry yellow eyes showed much similarities with Desna’s and she even fashioned herself with an eye patch to further mimic Desna’s appearance. Armed with ceramic plated body armour, type-666 approached Herex and the nihilist with her arms crossed.

Type-158 cracked his neck in respond, a sign that he wasn’t intimidated by type-666’s dramatic entrance, “HEY! You are not a boss around here! I AM my own boss!” Drawing his HF final flourish, type-158 challenged type-666 to a duel, “Do as you pleased! Ladies first!”

In a blink of an eye, type-666 dashed into close quarter and snatched the flourish off type-158 before he could react. She then puts the nihilist into an arm lock, the nihilist was unable to fight back and decided to tab out, “You win!” type-158, “I surrender!”

“Say the magic word…” type-666 smiled ominously as the fight bring great joy to her. The smile was cold, a day and night contrast with Desna’s, this might be the only thing that distinguish the two apart other than their out fits, with one wearing the ranger hound coat and the other wearing the ceramic body armour.

“I surrender!” type-158 tried to think of a word that could make type-666 spare his worthless life, “Ma’m!”

“Wrong answer…” Desna’s look alike cold bloodedly broke type-158’s right hand, leaving him bowl on the ground in pain, “From now on, you call me, commander…”

WTH did I just write?

Interval-04: sins of the mother (pt.2)

Herex walked up to type-666, for a moment he felt relieved as she turned out more than he hoped for, “You looked just like Miss Desna,” smiled Herex, “Are you ready to eliminate the threat? It shouldn’t be a problem for you…” pausing the compliment, the mad scientist glanced at a camouflaged machine in the shadowy hanger, “…Oh, and why not take the new BC-25 out for a test flight while you are at it?”

“Sure,” said type-666 in a cold voice, she sneered at type-158 before removing the camouflage net on the new machine, as the net fell to the ground, BC-25 was revealed. A gremlin made combat helicopter armed with hundreds of guided missiles, the first of its kind. “If it wasn’t for Seerus’s over engineered Roamulus twins,” type-666 remarked, “the BC-25 would have gone to mass production, and they would have rain fire storms down to Haven, turning it to ashes…” Jumping into the helicopter’s pilot cabin, type-666 ordered type-158 to get in as well, into the co-pilot cabin, “Get in…”

“ARGHHH,” after relocating his broken hand, type-158 spitted at type-666’s command, “to hell with you! And your stupid orders!” In the distance, Herex face palmed at type-158 rebellious nature, having him in the snakes of Eden was a mistake.

“You are the nihilist, type-158,” type-666 spoke, her tone of speech changed, from the cold demanding to something that was almost erotic, “Are you not, born into this world, for the sole purpose to procreate?” as awkward as the flirting was, type-666’s new voice almost had magical effect on type-158’s psyche, bending him to her will.

“Yes,” the nihilist responded in a robotic tone as if he was possessed by the devil himself. Herex smiled when he realized that type-158 had been brainwashed by the commander’s speech.

“Good,” type-666 smiled ominously at type-158’s unfound obedience, “Come with me… and tonight, you will be rewarded…”

WELCOME TO DA JUNGLE

Interval-04: sins of the mother (pt.3)

BC-25 took off from the underground hanger and revealed itself to the outside world. This helicopter were propelled off the ground by two rotator engines on the two sides of the main body. Type-666 scanned the oasis jungle with the on board radar and soon, two flashing dots came into range for a napalm strike.

“I think it is time for the world to know about this piece of Gremlin ingenuity,” opening up the safety lock, type-666 tabbed the napalm control twice and two red rockets flew off to the direction of the two recon rangers. Eli’s ears were the first to pick up the jet screams of the napalm missiles.

“Captain, did you hear that?” said Eli before he saw the two red rockets flew past him. The last thing he heard was Desna screaming, “Get down!” before he himself was engulfed in a cloud of napalm inferno. The napalm liquid soaked into Eli ranger armour and set him ablaze, 800 degree Celsius of burning napalm torn through Eli’s skin and burn into his flesh. “ARGHHHHHH!!! IT HRUTS!” Unable to bare the agony, Eli fell to ground and rolled erratically in an attempt to put out the fire, but napalm fire couldn’t extinguished that easily, the chemical stains continued to burn down his armour.

In a last ditch desperate attempt to save the rookie, Desna torn off Eli’s burning armour with her side blade before the second missile made impact within their vicinity. At the last second, the ranger captain was able to plunge both Eli and herself into a small mud pool, insulating them from the second strike. When the napalm fire died down, Desna emerged from the mud pool, she was greeted with burned trees and grasses. In the distant sky, she spotted the BC-25 closing in on her with the fire smog as cover. Quickly Dragging Eli’s unconscious body out of the dirty pool, Desna checked Eli’s so called ‘back up’ canteen, hoping that some water might bring the rookie back. But it wasn’t filled with water, only ectoplasm. And the canteen Eli gave to her earlier was empty already.

“Eli…” a drop of tear dripped down Desna’s mud coated cheek, it was only then when she realized that the young rookie had given his life so that his captain could fight on, “EEEEEEEEEELLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!” the terrible cry ripped thought the fiery ruin of the jungle, startling even the most fearsome beasts in the jungle. Trembling with anger, Desna picked up her machine gun and sprayed bullets into the sky, “COME GET SOME!!!”

MORE ACTIONYYY!!

Interval-04: sins of the mother (pt.4)

Desna’s bullets failed to connect when the armour plating of the BC-25’s main body deflected the shots. “Crap!” cursing that the machine gun failed to do any superficial damage on the flying war machine, Desna took cover behind a burnt out tree log, giving her a few precious seconds to figure out a way take down the BC-25. But the ranger captain was still badly disoriented by the serum injected by Morlin and the previous napalm blast added to the confusion.

“Say good bye…” Type-666 locked onto Desna’s life signature and fired a high explosive missile, the tree log was torn to shreds on impact. Desna got launched sky high and knocked unconscious by the blast’s shock wave. For a moment, the wold around her darkened and all she could hear was a strange, yet familiar voice, encouraging her to fight on.

I dreamed,

With in my dream,

I saw a hero….

….Who I can entrust me life with, someone who can keep me company even in my final hour…

You, Desna, you are that hero…

Stand up, and show me that I didn’t give up my life for nothing….

With cinder covered her face, Desna stood back up again in the midst of the burning jungle, only the legendary ranger captain could recover that quickly and Type-666 didn’t expect anything less from the person she was cloned from. A cold smile appeared on type-666’s face as she locked up onto Desna’s life signature, “How tenacious, but this,” Desna’s look alike moved her finger onto the missile trigger, “this is where your story end, and mine begin…”

Four more high explosive missiles launched off from BC-25’s rocket cluster and headed straight for Desna. Unmoved by the impending doom, the ranger captain reloaded her machine gun with heat rounds, high temperature cartridges designed to pierce heavy armours. But destroying BC-25’s armoured main body wasn’t what Desna had in mind, instead, she fired aimlessly into the air. The heat rounds attracted the heat seeking missiles and they turned around and headed for the armoured helicopter instead.

Type-666 realized that she was out smarted by her predecessor, but Desna’s clone had her own surprise prepared for the ranger captain. “Nihilist…” smiled type-666, she commanded type-158 with a manipulative tone, “Stop those missiles…”

Under type-666’s brain wash, type-158 activated the electromagnetic modules on his Valkyrie raiment and created a magnetic field outside the flying metal monster. With the shielding, three of the missiles flew off course and detonated in the air, the forth one made a direct hit on the magnetic shield, luckily for Desna, some rocket fragments made through and one of propeller engine was mildly damaged, causing BC-25 to loose altitude.

“Return to base, we don’t want to damage this prototype any further…” type-666 cancelled the attack and turned BC-25 around on route back to Herex’s lab. As Desna watched the flying metal monster limped away with a damaged propeller, the ranger captain was surprised that she survived with only minor burns and bruises. Having no time to attend to the injuries, Desna headed back to Eli, the rookies was still unconscious, scarred by the napalm strike.

“Don’t give up Eli,” said Desna to the dying rookie, “I will be back with some water…soon.” After a few minute, her survival instinct led her to the side of a clean water stream. Desna refilled the three canteens with clean water and returned to Eli. With his thirst quenched by the new found water, Eli reawakened, “You are going to be okay,” Desna smiled, but Eli was still hallucinating.

“Mother?” Eli murmured, “Is that you?” He mistook Desna voice for his dead mother’s, still suffering from the hallucination, Eli thought he was in heaven, incinerated by the napalm strike.

“Sorry, Eli,” Desna replied, “But you are too old to be adopted, come on, wake up.”

“Oh,” said Eli when he realized that the motherly voice was from his captain, “I am sorry captain, I made you worried back there…”

“No, you weren’t a dead weight,” Desna replied while lifting Eli back to his feet, “Without you, we both might have died.”

Filler chapter

Side chapter: Ozlo and Herex

“Type-055 had died,” Ozlo sighed in disappointment through the private frequency with Herex, “And the CB-25 failed to produce results…”

“CB-25 was only a prototype helicopter,” Herex defended himself, “And besides, it wasn’t my creation, if it was, it would have turn out superior…”

“Then who created that machine?” asked Ozlo, “Was it Seerus? I thought Seerus was more into building giant rocket puppies. Not flying machines.”

“It was one of his early day works,” Herex replied with nostalgia, “We were friends once, all the way back when we were both in the colony military institute… he was one of our generation’s greatest engineers. But the madness, the lust for power, ultimately destroyed him…oh,” Herex continued before Ozlo could reply, “BC-25 was originally designed for rescue operations, saving Gremlin workers from been trapped in their hazardous working conditions, BC-25 only became weaponised when Seerus was crowned the war master…”

Ozlo was intrigued, he never knew there were so much laid between the two arch rivals. Herex and Seerus, the two names that were always associated with evil when spoken amongst the knights, even they were normal people once, people with dreams.

“I still remember the times back in the colony elementary,” Herex recalled his past to Ozlo, “My teacher asked me, ‘why would you choose to learn biology?’ I told them, ‘because I want to clone a copy of myself, so he can sleep with me at night to keep the bogeyman away.’ Of course, I can always build a robot instead, but there was just something about robots, that I am not comfortable with…”

“How so?” said Ozlo as he laid back on his chair with his hands crossed.

“Robots,” Herex replied, “They are cold, simple and rational. They are not like us no matter how much we tried to improve their AI.”

“Artificial Intelligence?”

“Yes,” Herex chuckled, “something was just not meant to be made by mere mortals such as ourselves. The complexity of a brain, the master piece of nature. So instead of trying to create the perfect AI, I bended to nature’s whim, mimic her moves and learn from her. Just like a son who would learn things from his mother, I learned to manipulate Gremlin gene sequence, make them better, smarter and stronger… just like how Mother Nature would have intended.”

“That was fascinating, mister Herex,” Ozlo concluded, “Now, to keep my side of the bargain as a gentleman, I will tell you a bit about myself, but don’t feel lucky just yet, I won’t tell you any vital informations that may, or may not put spiral order into a position of vulnerability.”
“That is reasonable,” said Herex, he only needed to understand Ozlo anyway.

“I was born on a remote mining colony,” Ozlo recalled, “two light years away from the planet Isora, a small moon called Venezula. The long term isolation with the home planet caused the local miners to mutate, after many generations, the off springs of those miners became adapted to the venezula’s Krypton heavy atmosphere.”

“Hmm,” Herex smirked, “So this is a case of allopatric speciation is it? When a group of the original population were separated from their home. The isolated population became adapted to the local environment, hence evolving into a new specie, interesting…”

“Yes,” Ozlo confirmed, “When I returned with my family centuries later from Venezula back to Isora, my body started to reject Isora’s atmospheric.”

“So that is why you always wear that gas mask of yours…”

Ozlo stroked his gas mask, his voice was thickened and coarse over time, a scar left behind by the stains of time and cruel fate. “The mutant miners weren’t welcomed by their Isoran counterparts, I was often referred to as the ‘venezulan freak’. But it was never my fault that I born this way…” Ozlo’s tone became angered, “…Yet I showed those who deemed me ‘inferior’ what I was capable of, I went to the Isoran fleet academy and soon rose through the ranks of cadets…”

“So you showed them,” said Herex, “those ignorant masses that you were special despite your inferior upbringing, truly fascinating… so why then, may I ask, that you despise the criminals and the beggars living amongst you?”

“They are the scums of this world…” Ozlo scorned, “They have deemed themselves inferior through their own actions, one’s demise was always one’s own making…”

“Then what about Miss Desna?” Herex became curious, “Why do you want her to be dead?”

Ozlo turned off the radio before he could give Herex a clear answer. But the whispering venom was satisfied with the outcome of the conversation, something must have happened between the two, something that he could take advantage of.

Time travelling like a boss

Flash back interval-01: It has to be this way (pt.1)

Interval overview: After almost a century of civil wars, Isora, the home planet of the spiral knights, was at her knees. The insatiable plunder of her resources and the never ending civil conflicts had turned the entire planet into an inferno of fire and destruction. Ozlo, the proud admiral of the Isoran orbital fleet, or rather, what was left of it, decided to launch an invasion on the Morai home world, a planet with a similar structure to Isora, with an energy core buried inside its crust. If the energy core of the Morai home planet is transported back to Isora, there was a chance to save her from destruction. The knights took on the zealous defenders of Ruia, despite Desna and the iron wolves’ heroic effort in eliminating the Morai emperor, the overwhelming fire power of the Ruia planetary defence shattered any hope of a successful invasion.

-20 years ago, the final fours of the Morai war-

The invasion on the Morai home world of Ruia was a failure. All seemed lost, the Spiral order’s orbital fleet was been torn apart by the Morai anti air artillery. Skylark was one of the four ‘Nemesis’ class medium battle cruisers, but now, all of her sister ships were destroyed. The oldest of the four, S.O.S. Nemesis was destroyed in the early hour of the invasion, Europa and Venus were slowly descending from the sky with smoke bursting out of their back engines, damaged beyond repair by the relentless counter attacks.

Holding defiantly against the Morai ground fires, Skylark, the last of the four ‘Nemesis’s, made a break from the main fleet formation and retreated upwards into the outer atmosphere of the Morai home world along with few other Auxiliary ships. Suddenly, a Morai long range surface to air missile entered Skylark’s commanding bridge and the captain was blown into bits, the smothering remain of the former captain didn’t belong to Ozlo. He wasn’t the commander of skylark, yet.

Down on the Morai home world, the last standing spiral order’s ship, the fleet’s flag ship ‘Overlord’, a super battle cruiser was still holding against the endless streams of flak shells. All of the personals have abandoned ship, all except for Desna and Ozlo. Facing off in the ships reactor core, their ideals came to a crash course.

“This is our last chance in saving Isora,” said Ozlo, he knew fully what was about to happen, if ‘overlord’ manages to use its extractor beam to drain the Morai home planet’s energy core, Isora would still had a chance to be revived from her ruin. But Desna wasn’t about to let that happen.

“No,” said Desna, “I won’t allow you to destroy this world just to save Isora!” Desna was only a sergeant back in the Morai war, but already, she had to live with the deaths of three of her fellow teammates of the iron wolves. “If you take away this planet’s energy core, you will wipe out the entire Morai race!”

“You think I didn’t consider that?!” Ozlo furiously explained, “I know this is a holocaust, but it must be done to save our home! You know this sergeant! Now stand down!”

Desna pulled the pin of her last grenade, threatened to throw it down into the battle cruiser’s nuclear reactor core, the consequent explosion will no doubt kill them both. “You may have silenced others, but you won’t get away with genocide Ozlo!” Desna frowned, “There is no justice in killing an entire race of aliens just to get our home back! How do you even know if the energy core could save Isora anyway?!”

“But it is OUR ONLY CHANCE!” shouted Ozlo, he couldn’t hold his manner anymore, “As your admiral! I order you to STAND DOWN.”

“Isora had her chance! Sorry admiral… but I am my own commander now…” with a rebellious grin on her face, Desna threw the armed grenade down into the battle cruiser nuclear reactor core. A small explosion later, the rest of the reactor started to meltdown, the pride and joy of the Isora’s orbital fleet was no more.

The mighty ‘overlord’, the mobile death star of the spiral order, the superb battle cruiser that was meant to win a thousand war, was torn up from the inside. No shield and no reinforced hull could have saved her from this tragic fate. Desna and Ozlo both managed to escape with their lives via the ship’s escape pods, landing on hostile ground, Ozlo ordered Skylark, the last standing ship of the spiral order’s fleet to send a rescue shuttle. But he didn’t plan to take Desna along, he had just enough time to finish her off before the shuttle arrived.

Standing here,

I realize,

He was just like me,

Trying make history,

But who is to judge,

The right from wrong?

When our guard is down,

I think we both agree,

That violence breeds violence,

But in the end,

It has to be this way.

Ozlo Vs. Desna, it has to be this way

Flash back interval-01: It has to be this way (pt.2)

Ozlo was at his 40’s at the end of the Morai war, but this middle aged man was still a deadly foe to Desna, who was a vibrant female soldier at her early 20’s. Stripping down his handsome admiral uniform, Ozlo revealed his highly advanced battle suit, inches thick neo steel armour with each arms strengthened to the power of a jack hammer.

Desna was just in time to see Ozlo’s debut when she exited her own escape pod, “What the,” Desna muttered as Ozlo drawn his twin Acherons, “Ozlo, you monster…” Desna drawn her sword, ready to face her land slide defeat against the armed to the teeth admiral. Ozlo slide his swords on the ground while the wreckages of the capital ship fell around him, he had a new resolve now, to kill Dena at all cost. For she had ruined her one chance in bringing Isora back from destruction.

“I have done all I can to save Isora,” said Ozlo to Desna, his face was devoid of expressions, “No matter how violent and how cruel, it was for the greater good…”

“I guess you have kill me now,” Desna chuckled, “I loved Isora too… but I can’t bear to see the Morai suffer extinction either…”

“How charitable of you soldier…” Ozlo frowned, “But have you forgotten which side you were fighting for? Have you forgotten your duty as a soldier?”

“I am not fighting for you anymore Ozlo,” said Desna as she removed the sergeant epaulet from her chest, “I have my own wars to fight…”

No complex emotions were needed now, it was between the two of them. Both of their dreams shattered, it was a battle to the death with nothing left to loose. Ozlo activates his suit thruster and entered close range combat with Desna, his Acherons came close to Desna’s body many times but the young soldier managed to stay one step ahead of the raging admiral. Ozlo changed his tactics, strafing randomly in an attempt to throw Desna off her game. Desna tried to counter attack in the midst of her frantic parrying of Ozlo’s relentless assault, but her blade bounced straight off Ozlo’s battle suit.

“You can’t touch me…” Ozlo smirked, he brushed the sword off from Desna’s hand and prepared to finish her off, “Your service to the spiral order has been noted….”

Against all odds, Desna rose up, she didn’t knew where she got the strength to stand up but she did anyway. Punching Ozlo in his unprotected face, Desna was back on her feet. Surprised by the young woman’s defiance, Ozlo tossed away his Acherons and faced Desna head on. In this savage fist fight, both Ozlo and Desna were covered with bruises and swollen eyes. Either of them were willing to give up, but it was Desna the one who got the upper hand this time. After stunning the admiral with a powerful right hook, Desna picked up one of Ozlo’s swords and slashed down Ozlo’s suit power supply. Without the armour, Ozlo fell to the ground with a bloody face, anchored down by his heavily armoured suit.

“Good bye Ozlo…” Desna aimed the tip of the Acheron at Ozlo’s throat, “I am sorry about Isora admiral… I really do…”

“Sergeant Desna? Come in!” suddenly a radio transmission emitted from Ozlo’s battle suit, “This is Kora, head Intel officer of S.O.S. skylark! You need to keep Ozlo alive! A rescue shuttle is coming!”

Both Ozlo and Desna were dismayed by the sudden change of event, “WHY?!” Desna responded, “This monster sent some many of us to our death! Why do you still want him alive?!”

“Because… sergeant…” Kora calmly explained, “The captain of Skylark is dead… and Ozlo… Ozlo is the only one now alive that had any experience in commanding a ‘Nemesis’ class battle cruiser… or skylark in this case… he is our only hope of escaping this war…”

“Keh Heh Heh…” Ozlo bitterly chuckled, “Well, sergeant… how fate has turned upon us… Keh heh heh…”

“You will live for now…” said Desna as the rescue shuttled arrived, “Promise me that you will take Skylark to a place far from this world… somewhere we could call Haven…”

“Haven…” Ozlo laughed sarcastically when Desna mentioned the word, “Haven… there is no Haven for people like us… we are the dogs of war, you and me…. we are destined to die on the battlefield… we are destined to face the ever existence of war. And never to find peace…”

“Then I will break the cycle…” Desna stated with determination despite Ozlo’s words were the bitter truth, “I will be the first soldier to find peace… just like I have defeated you, I will defeat war itself!!!”

As the shuttle left the Morai home world for the last time. Desna watched the ruins of the planet as the shuttle ascended to the sky, it was a bittersweet ending. Desna lost so much during the process: her family, her friends and her life as a woman. But she managed destroy both the tyrannical power of the Morai emperor as well as Ozlo’s iron fist within the spiral order. Sitting on the other end of the shuttle’s seat with his hand cuffed, Ozlo stared blankly at Desna with his hope of bringing back Isora burned to a crisp.

“Desna, it is not over, YET…”

Keep the dream alive!

Interval-05: the queen of ashes (pt.1)

I have done things in my life,

Things that will make your stomach churn,

I have seen a thousand battles,

I have seen sunrise on seven different planets.

But all I want now, is to see you again…

“Captain!” Eli shouted as soon as he spotted the lab metal door in the dense jungle, “That must be Herex’s lab!” The grey colour of the metal door stood out in the green backdrop of the forest, an olive coloured crimson order insignia was painted on the door, a signature of Herex.

“Alright…” said Desna, “We are not going in from the main door that is too risky…” Taking out a binocular, Desna surveyed the areas ahead, “I can see a few ventilation shafts, ugh, curse my big bone structures…” Judging by the size of the shaft, Desna knew she couldn’t fit in, but Eli on the other hand, was nimble enough to get in and open the main door from the inside.

“Eli…” Desna turned to the rookie, “I want you to get into the lab via that ventilation shaft. Find the access key as soon as you can and open the main door for me…” Desna paused for a moment, knowing that Eli wasn’t cut out for this, “Don’t try to come in contact with any of Herex’s experiments… I don’t want you to get killed. You can still walk away from this if you want.”

“No, I have to do it for my brother David!” Eli was determined, “We can’t waste any more time and he is in danger!”

“Just remember, you are not expandable… no one is…” Desna reminded Eli before sending him closer to the lab perimeter while giving him fire support and look out for any ambushes. Sometimes, Desna found her own statements contradicting, she was expandable when she fought Ozlo in his advanced battled suit, or the time she took down the Morai emperor. ‘Perhaps Eli could do the same to Herex’s creations,’ Desna thought to herself, expecting Eli to become a hero when all this was over, ‘Who am I kidding?’ Desna talked to herself, ‘Eli is no hero, neither am I. I was just girl who rose to the occasion. I forced the title of a heroine onto myself.” Seeing Eli successfully opened one of the shaft, the ranger captain felt relieved, but for Eli, this was only the beginning.

Slowly crawling his way into the vent system that seemed like an ant colony, Eli eavesdropped on a conversation between two of Herex’s experiments, who he thought were responsible for the previous attack.

“What did you do to me?!” a high pitched voice of a male groaned.

“As your commander, I did what I have to do,” a low pitched female voice replied, the voice shared terrible resemblance with Desna’s.

“This is a violation of my right!” the male voice continued, “You brainwashed me to get on that metal bird! It is against my will, I will tell Herex about this!”

“You have no rights here…” the cold female voice replied, “Herex had put me in charge around here, not you…”

“SCREW YOU! AND YOUR STUPID ORDERS!” the male voice left the area after the violent outburst, leaving the low pitched female behind. Eli was frozen in the vent, scared to death by the woman's voice that sounded like Desna.

Savouring her victory, the female voice spoke for the last time, “I know you are out there somewhere, Private Eli… does this voice sound familiar? I think you should call me, captain…”

I am back, son...

Interval-05: the queen of ashes (pt.2)

Eli’s heart sank, he recognized the voice, that of his captain. In a moment of panic, Eli fell out of the vent and landed on his back as the vent collapsed under his weight. Ignoring the pain from his spine, Eli quickly surveyed his surroundings, only to realize that the room was filled with digital simulation panels, the deactivated panels covered the entire room. The room was most likely used to train Herex’s experiment before they were deployed into missions.

Thanks to his ranger training, Eli recovered and took the pistol out of his holster. He scanned the area in search of an exit, however his plan was cut short when a woman in a set of dark ceramic plating. It was Type-666, she has the same hair, same eye colour as Desna, with less scar and a slightly different facial structure. From a distance, anyone who was unfamiliar with the ranger captain would have mistook Type-666 for the real deal.

“Greetings Private Eli…” type-666 smiled at Eli with a cold grin, “I am type-666. You should have already met type-055. He, I and two others make up the four Snakes of Eden, one of Herex’s latest series of experiments…”

Type-666 activated the simulation panels, a field of white flower was projected onto the walls with white pastels flew about in the digital sky. The fake sound of the flowing wind calmed Eli’s stressed nerve, his trembling hands stabilized as his heart rate was lowered. He felt as if type-666 was trying to help him to overcome his inexperience, bringing him to an even ground with her.

“Why are you telling me all this?!” Eli aimed his pistol at type-666 while she made an advance, “Back off! You may look like my captain, but your looks won’t fool me!”

“That is as expected…” type-666 nodded her head, “I didn’t expect you to be fooled, young man… I am only a clone of your captain after all… not a perfect replica.”

“Clone?” Eli frowned, he was hesitant to pull the gun trigger. It seemed as if type-666 was totally confident when she spoke, devoid of fear that her head might be blown off. Eli quickly glanced at the safety of his pistol, it was off, saving him from an embarrassing demise if he tried to shoot while the gun is locked.

“Yes,” type-666 responded to Eli’s query with a calm and ominous smile, “Herex realized your captain’s ability as a warrior the last time when she jeopardized his plan, so the next logical solution, is to create me…”

“Strange how your personality and gestures are polar opposite to my captain,” Eli remarked, “I guess Herex wasn’t as smart as he thought he is…”

“If only you knew…” Type-666 smiled and threw a key card into Eli’s hand, “I will let you go for now… open the main door for your captain. I want to test myself against her and see if Doctor Herex’s project is a success….”

Eli is getting his own Harem???

Interval-05: the queen of ashes (pt.3)

Eli holds the key card tightly in his hand before leaving the room, he never took his eyes off type-666 while she smiled calmly at the rookie. But in a blink of an eye, Type-666 dashed behind him before putting a set ceramic plate armour onto Eli's shoulder. The same armour worn by type-666, Eli spammed at the chilling realization that type-666's lightning reflex meant she was almost impervious to bullets, hence why she never felt threatened at gun point.

"What," said Eli with a heavy breath, "What is this? Are you trying to end me?"

"No..." type-666 casually strolled in front of Eli before helping him fasten the ceramic armour, "I just couldn't bear to see you half naked with those torn rags... the napalm blast must have damaged you both physically and mentally... you have my sincerest apology, I was aiming for your captain, not you."

"I would have happily died for her," Eli responded as he did not trust Desna’s clone, not even for a bit, "So why don't you cut out the act and tell me what you want to know?"

Type-666 smiled, she backed off from Eli, “I simply want to know what Desna is to you?” the clone asked, Eli frowned and gave the question a deep thought. “Let me guess, you like her,” type-666 presumed, “She is quite the woman isn’t she? After all, why would you die for her if she was nothing to you? So tell me, do you desire her body?”

“Wha-What?!” Eli blushed, “No! I don’t have that kind of feelings towards her! Not at all,” the rookie explained, “Why would you ask something like this anyway… she is old enough to be mother. We never met each other upon until this mission, but together we already shared life and death numerous time… I admire her, she is a great fighter…”

“And that is all?” said type-666 with a tilted eyebrow, “Okay, you are free to go…”

Moments later, Eli walked next to the main door and inserted the key card on the gate control panel. He passed many security cameras on the way, each one of them was like a pair of watchful eyes. After slashing the key card at the gate monitor, the large metal gate was opened. Desna saw it as a cue to get in. Eli got the job done faster than she expected, ‘this kid has got the potential…’ Desna thought to herself.

“Good job kid,” the ranger captain commented before she saw Eli’s ceramic plated armour, “What are you wearing?”

“A strange lady gave me this,” Eli responded, the truth simply escaped from his mouth at Desna looked him in the eyes, “She claimed to be your clone…”

Wow, I never knew someone was reading this other than Colray, I honestly gave up after a while because I can't think of what should happen next. But I will give it a try anyway... I don't give up on a story so easily... unlike some people *cough* *cough* Liminori*cough* *cough* Thinslayer*cough* *cough*

Oh yeah, this story!

There are always Lurkers, and people that don't comment because they don't think they have anything to say. Some people don't realize that a simple 'good job' is more motivation to write more.

Oh well, new chapters

Chapter 6: Segregation (pt.1)

“Clone?” Desna was baffled by this revelation, “Why would Herex clone me? I am his worst enemy, and where the hell did he get my DNA sample?”

“Well, Miss Desna…” a shady doctor appeared from the darkness, arrived to greet the two rangers, “Thanks to captain Ozlo, I am provided with your
blood sample, as you can see… you worst enemy was within the spiral order all along…”

“Ozlo?!” Desna’s nostalgic memories returned, the horrors she faced in the Morai war, the mad admiral Ozlo, “That bastard! After all these years, he still didn’t let it go!”

“He did far more than letting it go, Miss Desna,” Herex chuckled, “He wants his revenge… for you ruined his one chance in life to fulfil his dead wife’s final wish… this facility will be your grave,” with a snap of a finger, the massive metal door slammed shut behind the ranger captain. Trapping her and Eli inside the facility, isolated from the outside world.

Desna, aggravated by Ozlo’s betrayal, drew her sword and charged into the whispering venom, but the blade soon hits the air as Herex vanished with the help of his stealth suit. The alarm sounded and the entire frontal section of the facility went into lockdown. Strips of flashing red light weaved between the shadow followed by loud alarm noises, in the distance darkness, Desna spotted her look alike, type-666, along with her black Valkyrie subordinate, type-158 ‘the nihilist’.

“So this is the person you were cloned from?” type-158 pointed at Desna, “I have to say, the mad doctor had done quite the good job! Truly this was a fine work of art…”

“…She is mine…” said type-666 as she glared at Desna, the room was still dim dark, “After killing you… I will take her identity for my own…”

“What?” Desna stepped back in line with Eli, who was terrified by the sound of the alarm.

“Do you know why Ozlo collaborated with Herex?” type-666 hinted the ranger captain, “You will soon die anyway so I will explain it to you… Ozlo and Herex want this planet for themselves, all of that talk about opening the core is nothing but a distraction.”

“Distraction,” Desna frowned, “Ozlo wants cradle to become to new Isora? With him as the new ruler?!”

“Ruler is not the right word,” type-158 interrupted, “Ozlo wants to be a war lord. Wage wars between Haven and the great colony can jump start the war economy on cradle! The spiral order is on decline with these peaceful days, knights like us have nothing better to do! Trust me, a little war can work wonders! We will be become Mercenaries and be rich!”

“Are you saying that Ozlo wants to fatten his wallet with our blood?!” said Eli, he angrily drew his blaster and aimed for the Nihilist.

“You want shoot me you little punk?!” type-158 laughed, to taunt the rookie ranger further, the nihilist walked up to him and placed his forehead in front of the blaster barrel, “It doesn’t matter who dies in the end! Blood is shed, as it always have been! We don’t fight for reasons or causes! We just fight! That is who we are!”

“Nonesence!” Desna she pushed the Nihilist away from Eli with her bare hands, the ranger captain was not too happy with the fact that type-158 was clearly a former Spiral Knight, with his Valkyrie armour heavily modified by Herex, “Have you forgotten your oath as knight?! How could you have fallen this far?!”

“I am a knight, that fact remains true,” type-158 chuckled, “But I am also a killer, an animal with its instinct, it is kill or be killed captain Desna.” As the Nihilist slowly stepped away, type-666 moved in and challenged Desna to a hand to hand duel.

“So…” Desna dropped her war gears and ordered Eli to stand down, “I guess there is nothing left to say… let’s FIGHT!”
