Just how rare are Sparks of Life?

Well more importantly, What exactly is the "limit" to finding Sparks of Life out of a single treasure box? I'm mainly asking because I didn't think something like this was possible.

What exactly is the cap on the amount of rarities that can spawn out of Treasure Boxes? And if multiple items can spawn, Does that mean it's possible in theory to get both an orb and a spark out of a Treasure Box?

Well i found 3 eternal orb in 1 box.

The cap amount i think will be 4, but usually is 3 same rarity & 1 other random rarity.

Such as 3 radiant + 1 spark or orb and so on.

Yes, its possible to find 3 orb and 1 spark.

There's possibility of 4 same rarity in 1 box but never saw it so far.

data thread

Skepticraven has a big thread for collecting data on such stuff. Poke around in his spreadsheets for "SoL" entries.

Edit: I meant to link to the thread, not just tease you. But fortunately Skepticraven showed up with the link.

Data thread to watch for the current estimations.

It's lingering around 0.5-1% chance for 1 orb or 1 SoL.
Fire crystals x3 are up around 20-30%.
The "triple drop" is much more rare (Don't think there were any 3x SoL or 3x orb drops recorded).

The max theoretical rarites from one box would be 9x fire crystals, 3x SoL, and 3x orbs. In the entire time I have been recording data, the most I have gotten is 9x fire crystals and 1x SoL from one box.

Just for amusement sake... With a conservative estimate, that theoretical max is probably somewhere around 1 trillionth of a chance (about 400 billion times more likely to get struck by lightning than find that epic box).

how did you conduct those experiments ?

There was a time in a server far away, i used to play only jelly king mission for 2 days (yes, just 2 days). I did about 40 runs, and in the end I found 38 elite orbs and 1 eternal orb. I even timed it, and my average speed was 15mins for a run. What's the points of mentioning this ? In the first 10 runs i didnt even find a single orb. And after that, they just keep coming, i even got 2 orb drop (4 orbs, 1 tripple and 1 single) in 1 floor. After that, I couldnt stop puking, you know why ..
My question for date collectors: did you try spamming jk continously for days or you just play a few runs a day ?

much more comprehensive than that

Skepticraven's data are much more comprehensive than that. They cover play throughout all levels of the Clockworks. You can inspect all of the details yourself.

When you're trying to tease out the chances of a rare occurrence like this, you need lots of reliable data, not just a couple of anecdotes.

In addition to what Bopp said... OOO has changed the drop rates multiple times. The most recent change seemed to occur at the beginning of May 2014 (as an orb/SoL nerf + radiant buff). My data hasn't yet stabilized yet, but the current drop rates may not be accurately reflected with your data. Mine is dated (not timed). More information about my data can be found in the thread I linked to (as well as the nearing-10k treasure boxes recorded with about 3k in the "current rates" range).

Yes, too rare

So rare that you shouldn't plan on to supplying yourself with any through drops.
