Long time problem with game crashing

For a long time now, I have had a problem with the game crashing. It happens randomly, but only when I am in a level depth, not the haven, lockdown, waiting room etc. only when doing levels... And there are times I can make it all the way through. The SK window simply closes as if I clicked the X button up top. Once my game crashes, when I try to relaunch the game through steam it comes up to the login screen and then quickly freezes. If I am fast enough and uncheck the auto log in box nothing freezes. If I click around while it is frozen an error comes up with Java. After I wait about 5-10 minutes, or from what I have noticed, once my character officially disconnects all the way from the game, I can then log back in. I tried for about a month a while ago going through the game support tickets, but no luck. I have tried everything I can think, reinstall Java, reinstall steam, change security settings to not block steam or SK, update graphics driver, etc. something interesting is when I had a MacBook pro It would never crash, but on the windows desktop I have it has the problems. Anyone have thoughts or something they think may help? Similar problems?

I have similar problems

I have similar problems you're having. Idk if it's the SK server, but at certain times when I'm loading the game crashes. It's been happening frequently but luckily when I log back on it brings me back where I loaded, but still this is quite annoying.

Hmm, yeah unfortunately for

Hmm, yeah unfortunately for me, I can't log back in until my knight logs all the way out, so if I was in the middle of a run, I have to start all over :/

I would try different

I would try different versions of java, Steam on PC uses its own Java, so steam don't care about Java you installed by yourself.

This instruction made for 64bit Windows, if you are on 32bit Windows, download 32bit Java instead.

1. Go to SK folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\spiral knights)
2. There will be a folder "java_vm", rename it to "java_vm_backup", keep window open.
3. Go to your Java folder (C:\Program Files\Java)
4. There should be folder "jre8", if it doesn't exist download and install jre8 Windows x64.
5. Copy "jre6" folder to your SK folder, and rename it to "java_vm"

If game wont start, just remove "java_vm" folder and rename the "java_vm_backup" back to "java_vm".

You can also try the same with jre6 Windows x64,
or even with x86 versions of jre8 or jre6 (it will be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java)

Normally there is a crash log in the SK install folder when a crash occurs.
Perhaps either linking that to this thread/sending a support request with it?
