As far as I can tell...
Nothing seems to be new this time around. Mostly likely here to fill time between content and I've seen quite a bit of people demanding its return so they can get those neat weps.

Honestly I'm kind of glad there's nothing new. No new pressure to grind and keep up with some event, presumably developers working on making something new and permanent. Like the remainder of the Herex plot line that they introduced over the summer. That would be MUCH nicer than some new Apocrean thing.

Ye, at the time of writing the post, I did consider the gunner update.
Cool, new toys that are more overpowered then our old ones, which we can use to do... the same things... to get more toys.
I really don't think shiny new weapons count as content.

I think that they do. Imagine if it were the other way around- new levels came out somewhat frequently, but new weapons almost never came out. It's a supply and demand issue and right now we've had A LOT of one thing and not a lot of the other. Other games even have the opposite issue, and practically beg for new weapons.

Oh I would very much agree. The whole arcade redux that was promised to us back then would certainly be the big event. I'm easily more excited for that, but I'm also interested Herex's plotline as that seems to promise a continuation of the story past vanguard rank... which means possibly a new boss and area to farm for... wait for it.... radiant fire crystals. A Herex update also seems more likely to be next on the table, since it was heavily teased over the summer.
