Neutralizer... really?

I was derping around with my Neutralizer because I hadn't really used it that much since the update. I encountered a compound... and it was absolute trash at dealing with the dust bunnies and greavers.
Regular shots do not stop greavers from attacking, much like Drakon's fire barrier, but it does 1 damage which is enough to break an enemy out of freeze...

The Neutralizer used to be a decent, slightly subpar gun which could uniquely, safely gimp frozen enemies, but you can't do that now.
Attempting to use the charge against a group of primed enemies is pretty useless as you need to spam several charges to get the desired effect that a couple Brandish charges could do(and do much more damage at the same time).
With the changes to the charge and regular attack, the dps has dropped too...

The only thing Neutralizers have gotten better at is marking recons... Whoop-de-doo...
Neutralizers have become no better overall, and in some cases have become absolutely useless.

Would someone like to enlighten me on a use other than being a hipster?

Well, I just love using the neutralizer.
If you're using it in Lockdown, use ONLY the charge (must be no neutraliser bullets on enemy) to deal about 30%-50% damage to players :B
Normal shots only deal 0.5% per hit and 0.1-0.25% damage per bullet when 1+ shots are on the enemy and the enemy is collides with charged shot hitbox. (Don't know whether it's a bug)

In PvE, the charge is great for dealing damage without the knock back but ideally, you'd want to shoot a few normal shots for the knock back.

You can use it like Pulsar

You can use it like Pulsar and spam it's charge against turrets and similar enemies. It has a high flinch rate and guarantees a stagger from pretty much anything short of a Lumber.

You two have talked about the damage and flinch/stagger of the charge. The charge is a single-target attack...
It's much less of a crowd-damaging weapon... The damage that used to be on the orbiting charges that would hit a crowd is now in a single-target hit.
/sigh
I guess that's not terrible... I have my Iron Slug for everything except the moments when I don't have as much time to charge for a single target... which is really niche.

The gun is worse off now with

The gun is worse off now with the changes as I see it. sure you can stack up charges a lot easier than before but the damage of the charges is pretty much useless, a fully stacked enemy will die but the crowd around him will take very little damage from the large blast. plus there's the problem you brought up before regarding the normal shot causing 1damage each shot rendering it useless against frozen enemies. I also don't like the delay in detonation, since the detonation is caused by the charge attack now I cant set up a well placed explosion anymore. A lot of times I would stack up a ton of charges on one enemy then shield bump him into a crowd followed quickly by a shot to detonate, I can't do that now with the charge as they delay gives the mobs enough time to move about and either block the shot or make it less effective. I also find the proximity detonation doing more harm than good, if I accidentally mark 1 enemy (which is very easy now) while tagging and his detonates while the bullet is on it's way to the main target it will push all the mobs out of the way (plus with the low damage of the explosions overall it just loses all point in crowd control). I want to like the gun, I really do, but the gun is so much worse off now with the gun changes and even if used for fun isn't as fun anymore. I've been using them a lot since the gunner update to try and find good uses for it or get better and though I have gotten better with them, they are pretty much trash guns now.

Neutralizer got nerfed, hands down. It was't that good before, but what it was good at [crowd control]... it is now pretty useless.
