Although Macha doesn't have a tongue... That doesn't mean she has no means of communication.
However- that is not really a primary problem.

WHO DO YOU THINK I AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!?!?~
(I watched Red Line today. Amazing.)
Aquilon Company: New Beginnings
Red line was nice, Gurren Laggan on the other hand blows it out of the water!
@Dewca: Accepted, a little reluctantnon the wing disability, but at least they're there. (The wings)
Really cool chapter you included everyone pretty nicely. Good work.
*becomes drill hat*
*gasp*
really?! I'll get right to work! *buries himself in his lab*
Very good chapter, by the way ^u^
Here's my app!
Name: Kairo
Age: 19
Gear: Divine Veil and Skolver Coat, with two parrying blade accessories (one on each hip). These are wear he sheaths his blades, one of which is a modest Blazebrand. His other sword is a katana he named Kyofu, meaning terror. The blade has excellent craftsmanship, making a Leviathan look shoddy in comparison. It’s slightly stronger than a Leviathan and can chop through even toughest enemies: the blade is crafted from an alloy of Sun Silver, Primal Ore, and Shadow Steel. As a result, the blade is golden with purple strips (similar style to the Acheron) and glows green from the Primal Ore. It’s not some OP Max Level Sword of The Gods or anything: it’s just a beautifully made blade with a lot of cutting power. Kairo prefers to use his katana, but will occasionally bring out his Blazebrand against the appropriate enemies. He brandishes a Grey Owlite Shield.
Appearance/Costume/Personal Color: His personal color is blue. His eyes are cerulean blue with slight specks of brown, and he has messy black hair, along with glasses. He has an average figure and is relatively fit.
Wings: sports two large, powerful white wings. the feathers are rather ruffled and some of the ends are split, but it doesn’t reduce his speed. He’s no faster than any other Valkyrie, but he does have an abundance of endurance.
Personality: typically friendly, but he’s a lover of corny jokes. (I imagine this can provide some comic relief in serious times- however cheesy it is) Not really a noticeable personality, but he’s likable enough. He’s actually a bit meek when it comes to certain things, and normally doesn’t offer his opinion unless he’s expressly asked to do so. Just an obedient, good soldier. Who tells a lot of jokes.
Important Notes: Kairo has a dangerous craving for Jelly Gems, and has been known to coldly murder slimy aristocrats in order to get the delicacies. They’re very tasty to him, but not many people understand. He’s a very good swordsman, but any attempt to train him as a gunner or bomber ends in absolute failure. Also, he was an orphan and raised by a kind old woman named Hana. The reason he joins the Aquilon Corps is simply to earn money to help support his adoptive mother. He has the sword skill to beat a stereotypical Gran Faust/Flourish-wielding Skolver knight, but prefers not to wear the Striker armor.
Age: 15
Gear: Two Giant Tonfa (forwardly, not backwardly,) with big hammer heads on the ends. Bjorn calls the set his Mjolnir. He can fold these into a sphere that he puts into a sphere in his armor if a) He's in battle and is using his fists or b) He's off duty. If he doesn't have his armor he puts it in his one strap backpack. His trademark ability is Rage of the Thunder God, which is when he flies WAAAY up and then comes crashing down onto the enemy. He can also conduct electricity through the fists of his armor, which transfers to his Mjolnir when he uses them.
Appearance/Costume/Personal Color: Bjorn is shaggy red-haired, with piercing crystal blue eyes with flecks of gold. His personal color is gold. When he's off duty, he usually wears a gray shirt with dark red shorts (with, of course, special holes to accommodate his wings). When on a mission, however, he wears the Storm champion helm and Thunderous plate mail (Same stats as ancient plate set). He stands at 5' 11".
Wings: Because of experimentation, Bjorn's wings are two times larger than they should be for his age. They're a golden color, but are still feathery wings. If they're inspected closely enough, you can see the scars that are fairly well hidden beneath his feathers that were caused by the experimenting.
Personality: Very positive personality, but has a hard time understanding why people think of him as abused, because of how the scientist acted. Bjorn rarely hides his wings, and he thinks it's ridiculous that Valkyries should have to hide them to avoid getting teased.
Important Notes: Was abandoned by his parents at birth (they carried the Valkyrie genes, but they weren't Valkyries. Does it work like that?) to a scientist who was interested in the process that had given Valkyries wings. He had come up with a theory and given that no good Isorans were willing to give up their child, he decided to test this theory on a Valkyrie, or Bjorn, his adopted child. He did something to Bjorn involving injections and bone structure, and lo and behold, nothing happened. The scientist acted as a father figure for him and regretted experimenting on Bjorn, and he actually tried to find a way to reverse the effects of the experiment, however, when he had finally come close, he discovered his theory had been right, for when Bjorn's wings grew larger than most of the other Valkyries he'd seen around or in photos.
@Colray: I'm guessing Isorans are about the size of humans, but I read something that angels (closest thing to Valkyries I could get) would have to have at least a 7 meter wingspan. Is that the minimum size for wings?
EDIT: He also makes friends very easily, and he's sort of ignorant of when people insult him or try to put him down. Bjorn rarely realizes his own strength either, and is very clumsy at times ("I didn't mean to knock down the door!"). He rarely makes enemies, and isn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Ok, I have a plan for this series, and it includes the Valkyrie's POV of major battles that take place on Cradle.
(Spoiler alert)
With the Siege on the Grand arsenal being the finale.
(Spoiler alert ends here)
@Apps: Kairo is accepted.
I'm assuming his name is Bjorn? You forgot the name, Pretty much accepted, but I have a question about the tonfa. I'm having a hard time seeing how he uses them in battle It doesn't seem gain any advantage from being held on the horizontal handle compared to the hammerhead. the only thing I see is that the right angle could be used as a crosspiece of sorts.
I'm seeing that he could use it in spin attacks. Sort of like how in the Olympics they do the hammer throws, closer to the end. And his name is indeed Bjorn
Oi, the newer forumers are so impatient. Colray, take your time. I'd rather you give us something enjoyable than something noticeably rushed and half-***ed for the sake of getting them out.
Agreed.
Although, I'm not really in a position where I can agree without being hypocritic, as I'm very eager to start a certain RP. . .
Which isn't in the timeline of the original story.
qwq;
Great story! I've read up to this point and I've got to say that it is impressive. Good work.
*she plays around with her 2 new mixmasters and watches the post above her. She had got the two guns from prize boxes yesterday*
Sorry if I'm rushing Colray. Take your time.
Aye,this sounds interesting.
Dont try putting him immediately in the story if you should accept him.My man is a patient person, he can wait for the Aquilon Company to at least finish their first mission...assuming they finish it.
Sorry if this turns out too huge of a bio, I think my characters too troroughly for my own good...
Name: Mundy Vakarian
Age: 34
Height: 1.65 m
Weight: 66 kg (mind if I use the International measures?I realy dont like these inch-libra stuff, I never use that anywhere in my country....)
Occupation: Field Leutenant, Medium Field Engineer, believed to have recently done wetwork with the Recon Rangers
-Facial Appearence:
Short, black hair and Sea Blue-glowing somewhat-Almond eyes.Facial build for Isorians is something hard to understand for we humans, but an acceptable descripition is this: If the legendary Gravelpit Sniper(Team Fortress 2) was an Isorian,he would look like Mundy.
-Corporal build:
Rather sly for most knights of his rank(and age), his body build is nonetheless the notorious picture of a special ops. fighter: flexible, intentionaly weak-looking and deceptively strong.Well, the latter can be objected in Vakarian's case.
-Mental Build:
Calm, mostly stern until disturbed, sometimes comical with both knowns and unknowns if they interact with him.Is known for being obsessed with making as little noise as possible, both literaly and metaphoricaly.Paranoic when people mention his skills, even more when its his acomplishments.
-Backstory:
Son of a respected, even if suspicious valkirye mother who wanted a normal life for her child, he managed to enjoy such life thanks to an intricate "agreement" between some of the Skylark's veterans, mostly out of interest for training a knight with the talents of an operative and the virtues of a "wingman", who quickly showed potential in the boot camps.
As a Leutenant(english is not my first language,is that how you spell it?), he carries the usual Prismatic Badge that some honored members such as Feron use, even if his own missions were never publicized.("I can't just tell the Order that half the clockwork's superstructure nearly collapsed due to an amassment of fat Pit Bosses, Paladina. Now Stop.Bickering.Me.")
-Armor:
He carries a prismatic badge adorned on an open dark-blue cloak, covering his back(wings included) and little of his front, wich is a regular-blue Flak
(Ascessory)Jacket.A helmet isn't something he ever uses aside from missions that are sure to lead to a skirmish, in any other operation a Tactical Headset is the principle.Maybe a mask and a hood for wetwork.
(Armor)For planned operations, the gear varies a lot, but if he can, he will use light armor and keep his wings exposed, to
allow passive gliding, hovering or short flight maneuvers. His casual Cloak and Flak Jacket were adapted by a young tech-savvy girl to provide basic 4* resistance, being just below average.
-Weapons:
Unlike most of the Spiral Knights, Mundy is not one to keep weapons with him, apparently "keeping a gun for longer than needed" makes a very nervous person of him, for some reason.
Every mission has him assingned to a different set, all of them being standart issue armaments for the veteran ranks.
This hasnt proved to be too troubling yet; his ranking can instantly get him a Callahan, a Master Blaster and probably a bomb or two from any armory, and his engineering training has kept the weapons he grabs up and running for many long clockwork weeks so far, but the Spiral Order isnt known for keeping handheld space cannons or UV'd blades in stock. And some missions have already proven to be very prone to failure for a knight that has never shaped his own tools for perfection.
That aside, his usual strategy for direct combat deployments is to bring:
-The Bulkhead, a Iron slug variant rigged with a digital scope and silenciator.
-a Winmillion for close encounters. He's quite fond of attempting medium-range tackles with the winmillion swings, and "slapping" away up-close offenders.
-A crowd control weapon(bomb).
-Training:
Some hidden lack of self-confidence, the limitations of his gear and the philosofy of a recon knight makes him keen to being the least intimidating as possible, always having the enemies(and his superiors in older days) think hes weak; not that its always advantageful for him, but his standing point is that marksmanship, balistics engineering and martial arts training are abilities better deployed when the enemy doesnt expect them, "and that involves making it classified that I knows such things".
This proved to be quite a hindering element on his ranking and selection to missions, and made sure his acomplishments didnt make it from the mission reports into the masses' mouths. In fact, any new knight will just see him as some officer that probably lobbyied his way into position.
The last thing he does in a front attack is stay with his squad, prefering rather to get out of sight and make use of whatever gaps in the enemies' defences he can to take them down.Despite this, he is quite capable of adapting to different tasks with little interval, be it sniping a lumber, pelting down a swarm of scuttlebots or slapping ghostmane stalkers around bare-handed.
The handfull of close friends he has call him a "Rush Hour Specialist", most others call him an opportunist. He dislikes both entitlements, hating opportunists and especialy hating Rush Hour.
-Wings:
It seems the calm (socialy-speaking) life he lived took a toll on his wing's efficiency.Bright gray and reaching the knee if streched, his wings are realy slim for a valkirye and this affects his flight abilities deeply, as he cannot take actual flight, even with the light armor and equipment he carries, having to make do with regular jumping and some quick hover-flying.
Thankfuly, a memento of his training with the Recon Rangers is lots of experience in gliding, essential for stealth drops, or just drops in general.
Despite his lacking wing build, he aways goes to missions with a light Artimec wing-plating, custom-built with a graviton engine from a salvaged Graviton Bomb to counter the equipment's weight.
Vakarian does his best to hide these faulting talents from the few valkyries he's worked with already, but has trouble delivering the subject foward when it comes to light.
*decides to take a smarter approach and sits with their legs over Critzer's shoulders as they wait*
Onward, my noble steed!
...
I've always wanted to say that.
"Now, you two!"
With a dramatic point, Ember directs her finger to Sonosuke and Liminori.
"Make the next horse! Then... WE RIDE!"
*pulls out a fishing rod with a cookie on the hook and dangles it in front of Liminori*
Tonight, we ride!

I AM A WILD MUSTANG AND CANNOT BE TAMED BY THE LIKES OF MERE MORTALS
Sorry! I got a little carried away, this week is actually my spring break, so I've been slacking off and enyoing doing absolutely Nada. I'll work on the chapter. Got a bit of it done today, so I have a degree of confidence that it'll be out tommorow.
*throws a basket of cookies into the air and dashes off with a pencil*
I've seriously just been lying about all day playing strikes in destiny every single day so.... I'm fine if you want to take a break.
*Runs off and eats a slice of cheese*
Are you people sure that no creepy old men gave you candy (or cookies) recently?
My degree of confidence turned into a writers block, so I scrapped the chapter. Something just wasn't feeling right, and I wanted to do it right. Sorry for the delay.
Its 5 am and im gettin rdy to head to school and i see that colray posted and i was like "Yay!" and then read it and my hopes were shattered... Oh well, good luck Colray, "Quality over quantity."
On a better note i went to megacon 2015 last weekend. I learned 2-3 things, i wanna fucking cosplay, i wanna bring a better camera, and i want to spend a lot less money XD.
Where the figure was, where the depth ended and dropped into the abyss, a large thing started rising. As far away as it was, nobody could tell what it was, just that it probably posed a threat.
Make that a large threat.
Trey flexed his gauntlet. Instead of a shield, Trey wore a gauntlet made of Sun Silver. It had a small glass orb set in the middle, where the attachment to a shield would be. A swirl of energy glowed faintly, almost waiting.
He unsheathed his blade, the shape resembled a Leviathan blade, but the coloring and engravings looked similar to that of a Divine avenger. The carvings glowed with energy, and Trey held it with the ease of a decade of practice.
"See it yet?"
Fleck had his Raptor out, and was balancing it on his wrist, which clutched his Khopesh.
"Oh yeah, don't recognize it, but it's kinda hard to miss."
That's when a noise cried out from behind them. They didn't take their eyes off the thing, but Critzer did.
"What happened?" Trey said, flicking his gaze to the girl.
"One of the knights just cried out in alarm, he's running away."
Fleck tore his gaze away, "What? Why?"
The striker shrugged, "Forsythe is after him, he'll be around to tell us."
By then, the rest of the two squads had joined the three, as well as the remaining fifteen knights.
"Who's the leader of you lot?" Fleck looked at the knights suddenly.
Surprised, one of the knights that recovered quickly nudged another forward. He blinked and addressed Fleck.
"That'd be me, Orthus. Why do you ask?"
Fleck blinked, then glanced behind him, "Who is that guy?"
"That's Eric, I don't know why he's running."
Critzer watched the receding figure of Eric reach the other end of the depth, Eric seemed to peer over the side. Forsythe reached him then, and she could make out Forsythe asking questions.
"Forsythe's on his way back." She interjected, lifting a finger.
A second later, Forsythe dropped out of the air. He held up a finger, out of breath.
"He... said... It's..." Forsythe paused, took a deep breath and stumbled out the rest, "A Roarmulus unit."
Trey understood why Eric ran to the other end of the depth, to see if there was another one. He saw Fleck come to the same conclusion, and of course had a question in response.
"Is there another one over there then? That's why he's over there right?"
Forsythe nodded, then blinked, "No, There isn't one over there, and Yes, that was his reason."
"Alright, I guess that means we get ready for a fight! The last five words were delivered in a shout, galvanizing the Aquilon company and the rest of the knights into action, taking battle positions.
"Hold!" Trey barked, holding his gauntlet forward, sword off to the side, slightly lowered.
The thing had risen above the depth, and was towering above it, but it was obscured by fog. It did look like a Roarmulus unit.
"Lock and load people, things are gonna get rough. Any cover easily available around here?" Fleck mumbled, more so to himself.
Slowly, the fog faded away, and the figure revealed itself to indeed be a roarmulus. Albeit buffed up.
The thing had just been cleared of smoke when its mouth slid open with a large *thunk*. Then a salvo of missiles lit up the darkness and screamed towards the group of knights.
"Hold!" Trey shouted, watching the missiles. They numbered in many, but the missiles tended to sway and swing off course before correcting itself.
Trey stepped forward, and braced his arm forward, his other hand ran across it, activating energy which glowed. In seconds, a bright light shined from the glass orb and a golden shield of light shimmered in the air. The volley of missiles slammed into it, stopping dead in its tracks and resulting in a string of explosions.
"Orthus!" Fleck said, his wings flaring out, ready for flight.
"Yeah?" Orthus had a modified Black Chaingun cradled in both arms, ready to fire.
"Get your troops to do some damage, get behind some cover and give it h*ll. We'll try and find some weak points."
Fleck turned to Vanos and Forsythe, Vanos turned to his squad, "Ok, random formation, don't give it something to lock on. Trey, can cover these knights until they separate and get behind something. I'm going to see if its shield can break. Move!"
Forsythe opened his mouth, then closed it, then decided on what to say, "Macha, I want you on lookout in case anything else appears, everyone else, do s Vanos said."
Fleck burst into the air and pointed his handgun at the machine hulk, firing round after round at it. More bullets were launched at it from the other Valkyries.
The roarmulus unit shuddered under the assault, but didn't seem to falter. Its jaw raised, and lowered. Another volley of missiles exploded out of the roarmulus unit, screaming along towards the golden shield held up by Trey.
"Go go go!" Orthus peeked out from the shield and sprayed at the giant.
Knights streamed out from cover, ducking behind crates and scrap piles, providing no one target to the machine.
Trey looked back, and saw only Orthus remained.
"I'm shutting off the shield after the next salvo, get ready to run!"
"Roger!"
* * *
(Just before the first rocket barrage, in the Aquilon base, Corvina and the remaining Aquilon members watch on a set of monitors.)
"What in Vog's name is that?!" Gabryal said incredulously, staring at the monitor."
"Nothing good I'd imagine." Chris ran a scan on the thing, coming up as machine. "Seems to be a roarmulus unit."
"That thing's huge!" Midnight chimed in.
"Let's go, we need to give them some support." Corvina strapped on her new shield and headed for the door. "Maria, Gabryal, with me. Delta squad, move out."
Chris looked up, "You'll need support. I'll see if I can get you some firepower."
Corvina nodded a silent thanks before leaving for the town entrance.
(Sorry for such a delay, I'm still sketching out the rough details as to where I really wanna take the story .)
I knew I should have given Vill a ranged weapon. Probably a bigger wingspan as well, just for kicks.
Nice chapter, interesting how a roarmulus unit showed up.
Nice chapter...
I thought that roarmuli could only be hurt by other roarmuli?
@Xteri
Well, the rockets they shoot out do SOME damage, but they dont look like any anti-starship munitions, so I guess Vanos's Orbital Cannon(I'm not calling it anything else other than that, may you understand the reference or not) can at least knock out it's shield.
If not, I'm sure the Order must have either salvaged rockets from the Munitions factory or produced their own anti-twins gun by now.
The Spiral Order has manufactured some anti-RT missiles. In the game, I see the Roarmulus Twins as the only things that are able to break through each others' shields. Vanos does possess a weapon that can break through the shielding, which is something the Aquilon squad will use to their advantage.
Sorry, Haven't had time to work on the story much. Lots a homework. Sorry for the Hiatus. I'll try to work on it more after this week. I hope May will be less full of homework.
Hey, don't forget, Aquilon Company: Second Wing is still a ting.
I understand how you feel Colray, i just had a week like that. Had a 12 page paper and then a six page one due on tuesday and had a test on Monday. Busy busy busy.
Good chapter, very nice action, some casualties which is usually not the case which made it more realistic. Slightly bummed Critzer wasnt able to go at her full potential but she was there and the mission went somewhat smoothly. By the way, that shield was a bloody pain to get!
ONTO THE MATTER OF THE TOTEM POLE:
WE ARE THE SPIRAL KNIGHTS AND OUR DRILL WILL BE THE DRILL THAT PIERCES THE HEAVENS!!
