A new update will be releasing today that includes the following:

Token Rewards

-The Blackened Crest is now available from Brinks for Almirian Seals

Monsters

- Wolvers have had their fangs sharpened. They now inflict PIERCE damage.
- Chromalisks now have a whirly tongue attack that deals PIERCE damage.
- Devilites have started ordering their office goods from a demonic supply warehouse. They now inflict SHADOW damage.
- Thorns are all the rage in the Slime fashion world right now. Slimes now inflict PIERCE damage.

Items

Alchemizing the following items now requires an additional prerequisite...

- The Graviton Bomb now requires a level 5 Super Blast Bomb
- The Stone Tortoise shield now requires a level 5 Drake Scale Shield
- Silvermail now requires a level 5 set of Drake Scale Mail
- The Vitasuit Deluxe now requires a level 5 set of Solid Cobalt Armor
- The Heater Shield now requires a level 10 Mighty Defender

Levels

- The Crash Site level has been streamlined, offering tighter spaces and tweaked dialogue.

Gates

- The two stratums in a tier may not be the same theme.
- Stratums will give a bit of feedback as to how their current theme was determined.
- Mineral payouts will vary between stratums more.

Interface

- We now show a warning that in-game mail will be deleted after 30 days.
-Trade channel is turned off by default for new knights. So they can join it later when needed instead.

Bugfixes

- Survivor achievements can be earned now even if you go solo, split up or get removed from a party now. It will not grant retroactively however.
- Barbarous Thorn Shield has a proper description now

Personally, pretty cool updates in my view wish they put out that unbinding feature since I have a bunch of Ce I feel like wasting on items for fun =)....

Blackended Crest will be a nice grab with the tokens for sure =)

Does prerequisite mean it's part of the item or do I just need to have it?

In other words... can I just buy/sell this stuff after crafting or are these suddenly bound as well?

Because I'm kindof feeling the nerdrage growing...

Of the extra prerequisite for the 4* items... Was just thinking about making a few Silvermails too.

I'm happy with the piercing damage update, my Aegis might get a little more work now.

It's going to be tough for new guys...

Of course they will be bound,

Of course they will be bound, they will require bound equipment pieces for craft, just like all other high tier items do. And I think most of the nerdrage it could cause was already used up by the update that doubled prices and forced binding (though I may underestimate the angry SK'ers :P).

Well I'm glad I haven't

Well I'm glad I haven't upgraded my SBB yet. Though I want to eventually get Graviton Vortex and Nitronome, I guess I'll just have pick which one to get first.

Tough choice. Gravtion has it's uses but Nitronome would serve me well as a primarily solo player.

@LoneKnight what it basically means is we can use the lower star versions of those prerequisites to farm for UVs. It's not so bad.

The prerequisite

The 4* prerequisite won't be all bad, now Gravitrons with UVs aren't going to be extremely rare, and Omega shells will be a bit easier for UVs as well. Very excited for the Blackened Crest though, I've wanted that shield ever since I laid eyes on it on the Wiki.

On the other hand, you can't sell 4* in the AH now at all. I'm not sure it's worth thr tradeoff when that's pretty much the only reason I can think of for using these equips.

Except maybe the bomb.

Hrm, good point there.

UV farming for those items will certainly be easier... though I'm afraid these changes will contribute to devaluing crowns just a little bit more.
I really hope PvP will be out soon, and cost crowns to enter! D:

DOOOOOOOM aside, I also would prefer slimes stayed their adorable squishy cubic selves but could morph spiky pseudopods to attack, instead of every slime having big, clashing-with-gooey-bodies spikes all over em. :(
- Mineral money payouts being more varied? Hells yeah!
- Warning that mail has an expiration date? That would have been nice earlier, but at least it's there to prevent further tragedies now! My poor friend lost his mist tank cause he though that it auto-used when accepted from the mail. When he finally wanted it, it was gone.
- I notice that "Magikat Hat given to Arblis for free because it's adorable" isn't in the notes, and I am very disappointed. I may have to quit over this.

Can't wait to see the tongue-lashing though! And for chromas in general to actually be dangerous.

Kinda wish they would have

Kinda wish they would have left blackened crest rare, but I guess you gotta get it through Vanaduke anyways, thats slightly difficult. At least all those Crest of Almire recipes ive been seeing can be put to use now.

Piercing damage be interesting, i guess seeing more of plate/jelly/ and my personal bristling buckler will be useful

Just got ancient plate shield

Just got ancient plate shield yesterday, wasted 50 almirian seals.....
At least i can give some use to my royal jelly set

Please 3rings, can we have a patch preview like every successful game out there? Not just 15 minutes before the patch

I like the changes. I'm not entirely sure about the aesthetics of spiny slimes, but I'll definitely give them a chance to grow on me. Hopefully not, you know, literally...

When they get around to implementing item unbinding, they should require the consumption of an unbinding item crafted with materials like "crystallized nerdrage" and "forumers' tears". For game balance, these ought to be fairly rare, but sadly the market has long since been saturated with them.

omg bloody greedy if u ask me. now we have to have all this bullcrap to get decent armour. like all the decent armour that was actully possible to get is no ruined by these greedy game masters. And what the hell? why would you need solid cobalt amour for vitasuit deluxe! i actully was planning on getting it, and why in the world would you not make it vitasuit plus??? How does solid cobalt armour connect to vitasuit plus in anyway what so ever!! hmmf. I say

The thing about the Blackened Crest was that it's stats are only decent, as well as it's 5* version. In a way, it didn't ''deserve'' it's rarity as it could be easily replaced by other shields.

It was basically rare for no reason, only appealing to those who just wanted something rare for bragging rights. Even now, it's not going to be something common either seeing as how you have to defeat Vanaduke a number of times before getting one. Most players can't do this.

i'm guessing the shield is worth over 100kCE or something to be the "endgame shield" as you say

Awesomecakes. The game's help

Awesomecakes.

The game's help files mentioned that jellies and beasts did piercing. I thought I had missed something, since they weren't. Think jelly suits will make a comeback? I <3 the spaceman hat.

Shame though, I was just getting enough money together to buy a turtle shell shield.

Literally, it's stats aren't ''OMG''-worthy, they're just so-so. You'll be able to see and compare for yourself when the wiki is back up.

Also, like I said before, Jelly Cubes especially needed to be made harder. In every Jelly King run, for example, most players just easily slaughter everything because Cubes lacked any sort of difficulty whatsoever. Slime Danger Rooms? Takes a minute or so if you have decent gear.

It's not like they're making it -incredibly- hard, just hard-ER than what it used to be, and rightfully so.

The new Jellies

The mid-ranged attack is insane, it happens way too fast to dodge sometimes. Right now they are about half the speed as a gun puppy attack and there is no projectile, it comes from underneath you. You have to be always moving to dodge it.

Not sure how bad this will be on Jelly King levels but man...

EDIT: It's not as bad as I make it seem, easily avoidable if you are moving around.

Looks OK to me.

I was intereted in getting a Heater Shield but not very hopeful about ever getting it as a drop. If it's available to craft now that's much better, I'll have to start looking out for the recipe. :)

seen it but wiki keeps goin down

Just seen Blackened Crest, normal/shadow + fire/shock resist, it's like the "other side" of owlite shields
nothing as special i suppose

Yeah, I've had the Heater

Yeah, I've had the Heater Shield for a while before the patch. It's the Blackened Crest (and Crest of Almire) that was made available. :P

Also, I'm glad the jellies have thorns from the ground instead of the random Lichen spin attack.

More varied damage types are nice, no doubt about that. Maybe I'll get around to getting those pierce defense tokens I've been thinking about

I"m not surprised about them tying up the stray unbound 4*s. Easier UVs for those who want them, and all the lines make sense at least. Also I'm sure the Atomizer will be fixed soon now, if it works that way. So good job bringing that to attention

All the gate changes look to help mix things up quite a bit, as it helps spread autosell out a bit more, and adding full-random strata, which sound interesting, considering what has been going on (Onyx Serpent T3 has one).

I am kinda sad that players can't make solid gates on purpose anymore, but at least it can't happen on accident again

Overall for me: Hurrah variety! Keep up the good work.

Monsters: Gun puppies now

Monsters:

Gun puppies now have a hatch open in the floor that they come out of.

For reference, 2nd JK floor. Top right room where you do 4, the slimes can do their distance attack straight past the blocks you get rid of with the ghost block. Watch out.

Small horned slimes do 1 spike from the floor, big horned slimes do 3. Oilers do not appear to do a spike attack.

Most players doing the JK run easily slaughter everything because most players doing the JK run are running 4* and 5* equipment. JK is a tier 2 boss and as such is supposed to challenge tier 2 players with 3* equipment. That's not what you're calling "decent gear".

It was quite a challenge to run JK the way it was before with people in 3* gear and/or in a pub party. Now it's completely broken for pubbers. If that makes it boring for you as a higher level player, bugger off and run FSC or something. I want my fun back.

@Vash_kun Your quite right when I first started T2 it was quite the challenge but now that there's a pile of people wearing T4/T5 gears that still only do JK runs it got much easier but it's because of the players skills have improved having ran it 34234234234324 times and equipment that got better not because it was too easy to begin with.

I don't even get where OOO gets these ideas, it's certainly not from the community because I doubt anyone took the time from QQ'ing about CE prices to QQ about how easy they thought Lichens were and how they needed to become more difficult.

Also as I posted in the other thread jelly cubes new root spike atk is not mid range it's quite far and when there's a gap between you and the jelly expect them to be able to hit you regardless the distance even if you can't see them which is total BS.

The only annoying thing about

The only annoying thing about the new jellies is that they can spike you through walls or other enemies, since the attack comes from underneath you.

They're really no harder now than they used to be besides that, as long as you have pierce defense. We're just all used to them doing normal damage, which most people have.

Now they'll actually be dangerous instead of the hands-down easiest enemy in the game.

I don't even mind that they can do that it's the fact that they can reach across gaps with their root atk, one it makes the range enormous like totally ignoring all the space between you and the jelly and two how does it magically appear across a gap like that when there's no ground it's open space.

Makes no sense and they need to fix that.

Heh, alot of enemies actually do that... it's especially weird when a flame turret sends a fire path across a gaping chasm to hit you.

bluejay: removing possibilities of having 4*+ without making it yourself.

woodpecker: making players spend more CE. coincidentally this is also Big Bird.. 90% of their design decisions factor spending more CE into them. Or absorbing it, if not spending.

When unbinding comes out.. bet its crown / CE mix just like crafting.. if not then purely CE. They won't do it for crowns.. cuz that would place a bit of balance between the two currencies. Can't have that happen -_-

You would have a valid point, if you weren't incorrect.

I have been easily soloing Jelly King floors, and even Jelly King himself (Though he himself was much harder of course) since I was using 2*/3* equipment. ''Slaughtering'' the enemies isn't a term I used solely because of how fast you can kill something, but how easy the monsters are in general.

Like I said before: Jellies basically had no attacks before this update. Jelly Cubes were easy even if you used Proto equipment since their attacks are slow, easily avoidable, etc. Only way to get hit by them is to -try- to, or get surrounded to the point you can't escape.

Can we expect spiky jelly set armor? That'd be kinda cool actually. I don't really like the jelly designs, and think they should only grow spikes at the moment of the attacks (I understand that changing the model heavily in animation is a nono though, since it eats at memory).

Just two points about latest update

The Blackened Crest is now available from Brinks? Great, at least now I have a reason to visit Firestorm Citadel.

Aren't piercing damage a bit too common now? I'd rather see Chromalisks dealing normal damage like they used to? Just my opinion though.

Devs: You can add a jelly spike attack without them gaining giant ugly spikes. :/ Since they are jelly, they just occasionally grow a spike a la T-1000 before returning to a perfect squishy cube.
