CE/Energy Market Price is Skyrocking; Here are SIX fixes (UPDATED OCT 2015)
Thanks Umbra. :P
@Hershey I'm not sure how that would help the CE market. Could you explain your thought process?
At the end of the day, the only true fix is OOO actually making new content.
If you use item as crown sinks, you will eventually introduce more of the same items into the world, making the value of each individual items decrease. Crowns will keep being farmed and the crown sinks gradually become less effective (look at the winterfest/hallow/frosty items for extreme example). All you're doing is exchanging crown inflation for crown sink inflation.
The best crown sink is one in which players invest their time into something enjoyable while still paying large amounts of crowns. This not only "sinks" crowns, but also slows the rate at which new crowns are farmed.
OOO should really invest into PvP. Make it more balanced, more complex. Get people addicted to the actual gameplay. Then bump up the entry cost, remove the winning money, and create more tiers of UVs so people can dump crowns into them.
As a bonus, PvP is more attractive to veteran players than newbies. This way, they won't compete with the new players for the limited energy. The only reason end-game players should buy energy is for cosmetics.
I think your arguments definitely make sense. I would prefer one of my direct proposals #1, #2, or #3 but yours is in line with my #4-6
A supplemental idea along your same lines: I've made a suggestion in other threads to expand the Guild Hall system in minor, low-dev-time, but significant ways.
Make the base furniture cheaper, so new players can easily invest in decorating a GH. More use of GH early = more long-term investment. Make veteran/post-endgame players not see GH's as a waste of Cr. I also suggested a Hallow Furniture Prize Box (just orange-striped reskins of the blue/red base furniture + existing skulls and bones and Mewkat + maybe one new item like the already-modeled gravestones from undead levels. Many vet players skip PK farming because they don't want more Hallow costumes; if they earned furniture boxes they'd be a lot more willing to re-invest in that event as well as GHs.
GH plans would also benefit from expanding the "open GH" setting. Right now if all of the guild members sign out the GH closes. If it remained open until the 5am server reboot, more people would see others' guild halls and be inspired to invest their own.
TL;DR: your suggestion has some merit and ^ is another idea aside from more (probably high-dev) PvP.
I feel the CE market should have freedom to fluctuate. The fact that there is a monopoly on the CE market *cough* *cough* petater *cough* is not healthy. If the CE market goes up, well then let it go up and watch it perform!. If it goes down, let it go down and again, watch it perform
To create walls of listings is only beneficial to a select few people who probably dont need the crowns except for bragging purposes.
Thats my comment on this matter

You act like I'm trolling it and not following market trends. I also +1'd this thread, so before you banter off, you should check that. I raise my prices when others try to race it up and lock it out. When I know someone is willing to buy at all prices is when I set my high buy walls. Basically if they want to hog it, I'll raise it up so they can't back out. I play it fairly, I'm simply accumulating crowns because I know it's running on the high end above equilibrium.
Petater is getting lambasted pretty hard in this thread, probably because he's the only one to come out and admit that there's a problem with what he does.
Petater, thank you for stepping up.
Via hearsay the worst fiddler has a sobriquet that begins with "Hun" and ends with "terxxy." But we all know better than to spread rumours. ;)
I can mention Unparalleled as well because he has openly admitted to it.
I feel I need to end with this thought: targeting the worst fiddlers will not resolve the issue. If OOO kicked them all, others would step up. A systemic change is necessary to resolve this issue, not punishing individual players.
...but both strategies combined could be exceptionally effective. ;)
This is why I still like the 10 buy/sell offer ideas because then no individual player is singled out... And if they put a lot of time and effort into making these walls then they're still being taxed on the profit if not on crowns/CE, than on time spent.
You can purchase Supply Packs from Vatel in the Bazaar and that one alchemy room in guild halls that have them.
