(( Question :
1. So we actually quits the RP once we are defeated?
2. What are non-contestant supposed to do?
3. We still haven't decide how to get a winner... right? ))
The Argent Arena-RP
((So... Can I be in please? I've been ignored /cries/
But yeah, Spirals-Ore posed some valid questions.))
Sorry Kaiju, thought I had ccepted you. Of course you are in. Also, I'm really not sure how to do it, but after you are defeated, you can still RP, since I do intend on taking he storyline a bit further than just the fights. If it were only the competition, there wouldn't really be time for character development. So, those who aren't fighting are free to interact. And no, I could still use some advice on how to judge he winners.
/insert victory dance/
Think about the stage environment, the fighters' combat styles, and their gear. For example, if Hikari goes against a Skolver knight in an urban environment, she'd have ample room to hide or to get a vantage point and snipe them. In a wide open field, she would be a sitting duck against a swordsman.
The only other female contestant in the arena, a serious young woman whose blade seemed as sharp as her mind, was standing nearby, studying one of the duelists with uncommon focus. She didn't seem like she'd be much of a chatterbox, but at least she wasn't one of those Skolver clones. Perhaps she might be worth an attempt at conversation.
I tossed my Dark Retribution on the air and let out a loud sigh. Downtime before fights was slow, REALLY slow. Everyone in the crowd was going wild, but the contestants were anything but loud. I looked to my left to see the knight I had made fun of earlier sitting with headphones on, "Whatever gets the job done." I thought to myself.
To my right I noticed a knight in a full cobalt suit, watching the fight with an expression of pure concentration. "She doesn't seem like much fun." I muttered before looking further down the row. Further right was someone that caught my attention. A Spiral Warden holding a Warmaster Rocket Hammer. "Now there's something you don't see everyday." OCH veterans were far and few between, not many people made it out of there alive. I clenched my Dark Retribution and started to walk over, at least someone here was a bit interesting.
On my way over, I bumped into the chick in the cobalt armor, as she turned I was given the most serious look I had ever come across, she had been really interested in that fight. "Sorry about that." I quickly said, I stood frozen, waiting for a reply.
((My character is female and in the arena... /sigh/ Ignored again))
((@Kaijuhunter: My bad. Edited my post accordingly.))
The contestants moved into the ring. They drew their weapons. Come on Recfen, show him who's boss. Don't open with a spin attack unless-
*bump*
"Sorry about that."
Startled out of her focus, Kel turned to see the source of the distraction. It was the knight in Mercurial Demo; despite his bulk, she hadn't seen him approaching. Most collisions between individuals were unintentional, so she took his apology seriously.
Kel dipped her head to acknowledge him and turned back to continue watching the fight.
Looking over at the two for a moment the monster of a soldier gave a small chuckle aloud.
So social here. Its almost like I am watching them go to war all over again.
Keeping an unseen eye on the two the Warden kept his arms crossed watching, in the event they spoke to him. After all he was in no danger of getting hurt here. At least not yet anyway.
OOC: How to judge the winners?
Wait...
Judge?
Where's Seatus At I Say, Indeed.
On a more serious note, I dunno.
NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
NOW I MUST COMMIT SUDOKU *Starts drawing sudoku board on chest with a salt laced knife*
((@Liminori, the way you said that makes me thing you are doing a harakiri #ROFL #IDKIfISpellThingsCorrectly))
"Since they have not started...." Sigil picks up his revolver. The argent peacemaker, he never really was into guns, but there seems to be two or three contestant using them. If he wants to win, he needs to learn to shoot this thing better. The knight gazes againts the golden steel beauty, with two hawks on its barrel, it really does gives an angelic aura. His blue eyes scans the arena for someone who might have a clue or two about marksmanship.
There, found one.
Sigil walks up to a knight carrying two familiar revolves, and two more– Is that a sniper rifle? –huge firearms. Her eyes were focused on the monitor, just like him and everyone else a few minutes ago. The knight puts one of his hand on her shoulder. "Excuse me miss. This may seem crazy since we are about to kill each other, but are you an experienced gunman... or gunwoman i guess..." Sigil boldly exclaims himself, altought his voice volume keeps going down until he can't be heard on the last word.
Edit: A lot of thing fixed, thanks @Liminori. I will be more carefull next time.
I quickly gather my composure after the cobalt Knight acknowledges my apology. While her attire wasn't necessarily threatening, that look in her eye was, she had a goal and I could feel that nothing would be getting in her way. I quickly look back at the warden, I casually wave my hand at him, with my Dark Retribution in my palm, motioning him to come over.
I start to hear the Aurum quiet down, the announcing was over. The cobalt knight's eyes light up as the fight starts to kick off, "So which one are you rooting for?" I ask casually as I lazily crouch down, I had also resumed tossing my Dark Retribution in the air. I was curious by now, not many Knights have the drive that I saw in her and it was obviously focused on one of the competitors, not to mention I needed something to keep me occupied. Watching fights were boring for me, I preferred actually doing field work.
((I'll make a post soon. Right now exams are happening and everyone is busy. My apologies.))
Harakiri, in a sense, yes.
(It vas a play on words and culture.)
I GOT A HAIRCUT, DUNUNUNUH.
Now, to dye it green.
Apparently I look like Kirk Cobain.
Edit:
GRAMMAR NAZI TIME, YAY.

You're... Welcome?
I was bored.
Hahahahaha, i tend to make a lot of mistake. You might even found one in this post
Walking to the man who waved him down, the Warden lowered his arms as he stepped forwards. Each step sending vibrations forth from his armor, as well as the weight of his step. Once he was close enough the Warden put the Knight into perspective as he had to learn down a little. It never helped that Warden's we always larger then Knights thanks to the Training and all.
"Can I help you, Knight." He said, not helping was the helm which was standerd, if not for the his whole armor was redone in the style of the fallen Warden.
Earnest monitors his opponent, tightening and tightening his grip on his weapon. He begins to circle around slowly, watching his opponent on his left.
His eyes stay on Recfen like a hawk, he waited for his opponents response to his movements.

Athena felt a slight pressure on her shoulder and, without turning around, aimed both guns at Sigil. Slowly, she turned to face him as he said, "Excuse me miss. This may seem crazy since we are about to kill each other, but are you an experienced gunman... or gunwoman i guess..."
He was rewarded with a slight "Hmph" and a stony glare from the girl's sea blue eyes. It was creepy, as if she was analyzing him, dissecting him with her mind. After a short, awkward moment, she nodded slightly and replied, "That's me." Her eyes drifted to his Argent Peacemaker and narrowed in suspicion. Her dainty fingers reached forward and flipped a switch on the gun's body. "Safety needs to be off outside of combat, unless you want to blast your hand off." The girl shook her head and murmured "So, why are you here?" Athena was neither used to nor an advocate of social interaction.
Is this what they call jumpy? I almost got a heart attack...
Sigil takes off his grip on the womans shoulder "I don't think anyone will shoot each other, it makes fight less intresting... for me at the very least". The knight took a step backward, even though some had called him weird, he is a little bit creeped out when she exemined his body (He has the urge to do the same... probably just another screw lose..)."Anyway, i have a request. If i show you a target, can you shoot it with that revolver of yours?" He points the gilded griffin and sentenza in her hands.
He thought to himself that no competitor is dumb enough to teach him how to shoot, but maybe if he asks to show him a shoot, he might be able to learn a thing by looking at how they do it. While he is talking, Earnest made his first move. Unlike his opponent, he has started to circle his foes, maybe looking for a chance to deliver a blow. "Oh. The fight has started, does any of the fighter interest you?" He turns his attention to the arena, however noting the girls word, his left hand was ready on the handle of his barbarous thorn blade.
Athena snickered in reply as Sigil removed his hand from her shoulder. "Less interesting? Quite the contrary... Bullets are fascinating. All the variables to factor into a shot, the burst of blood when it connects..." The cerulean orbs that were her eyes had an almost predatory, manic glint to them.
Athena's eyebrows lifted as Sigil pointed to her handguns and asked, "Anyway, i have a request. If i show you a target, can you shoot it with that revolver of yours?" It was strange of him to expect a competitor to help, but Athena couldn't turn down a challenge. As she was about to make a biting remark, Sigil's gaze shifted to the screen and he said, "Oh. The fight has started, do any of the fighters interest you?" A soft sigh escaped from the girl's lips, and she replied, "They're just run of the mill swordsmen. I could pick them off from a mile away, but I'd be helpless in close quarters. In relation to your target proposal..."
The feral, deranged glint was back in her eyes. "What do you want me to shoot?"
"Well, sorry if I don't make it clear, but i meant to shoot each other in the waiting room." Sigil snickers. "Anyway see the guy up there watching the fight? At your eleven? He is carrying a cup of soda right? Shoot the cup." At this point the knight was too focused on the marksman hand, he even ignores the fact that his hat was actually droping slowly backward. Both his blue eyes were pin-pointed, and there is no way he is going to turn his attention ( Unless someone is trying to kill him or the aurum suddenly goes crazy, and decide he should swim in the cold hard arena ground ).
"My name is Sigil anyway, Sigil Oscuro. Sorry I forgot to mention it earlier, I was told it is bad omen to do so."
The Mercurial Demo knight squatted on the floor and resumed flipping his bomb in the air. "So which one are you rooting for?" he asked. Kel raised her arm and pointed to the Skolver knight.
It occurred to her that she and the Mercurail Demo knight hadn't exchanged names.
She tore her gaze away from the fight and glanced at the knight, then brought a hand to her breast. "Kelani," she said before extending it open-palmed to the knight, eyebrows raised.
Athena frowned slightly and shook her head "The statistical odds of you defeating me in a gunfight are next to nil. That'd be foolish of you."
Sigil stayed quiet for an awkward moment, then replied, "Anyway, see the guy up there watching the fight? At your eleven? He is carrying a cup of soda right? Shoot the cup."
Athena shook her head again, not even bothering to look at the knight. "Alright then, watch closely." Almost faster than one could blink, Athena flipped her Sentenza's safety off, drew the gun, and fired. A scream came from the man holding the cup as it fell to the ground, perfectly split in half. A single bullet shell had fallen from Athena's weapon, and she scooped it up, examining it closely. Her gaze didn't meet Sigil's, but when she finally spoke, she turned her cold, ruthless blue eyes to look at him, "Well, there you go. I didn't need to look. With one hand. And my non-dominant one at that. Happy now?" She didn't even acknowledge that everyone wast staring at her in shock now.
Sigil didn't have an immediate response, but then decided to introduce himself. "My name is Sigil anyway, Sigil Oscuro. Sorry I forgot to mention it earlier, I was told it is bad omen to do so."
"Omens don't exist. Statistics and science do." Athena replied, her lips curving downwards in a slight frown. "Nevertheless, pleased to make your acquaintance. I am Athena."
_____
((Not sure about this, but is the knight one of the players? Didn't bother to find out, but if the guy holding the cup was one of the other RPers, then that could open the way for some more interaction.))
The Cobalt knight gestured to the combatant with skolver armor on. "Kelani" she said while extending her arm out. The greeting took me by surprise, I casually got out of my crouch and shook hands. "Verz" I said. As I finished introducing myself the warden walked over, Rocket Hammer in hand. "Can I help you knight?" As he reached my position I realized how big the height difference between us was. "Good thing I stood up." I thought to myself.
"Well, I couldn't help but notice your weapon of choice there." I motioned quickly to his Rocket Hammer to illustrate my point. "It's been a while since I ran into OCH veterans, not many of us wandering around anymore." I said wryly. I quickly held up my Dark Retribution to show my souvenir. "We were one of the first squads into the gates after the recon's got them open." I said. Realizing I hadn't introduced myself I curtly held out my arm. "The name's Verz." I said.
Once again, right after introducing myself I was interrupted. A gunshot broke out over the waiting room as someone's bullet tore threw a poor knight's cup. I looked to the source and saw a girl wielding a Sentenza. I hated people like that, they had no tact. As I got a better look at her she appeared to have a Gilded Griffon and a sniper of sorts on her back. "Damn snipers." I muttered to myself. "Can't the showing off wait till you're actually IN the arena?" I spoke, sarcasm fully back in my voice.
EDIT: Put a tie in with Kaiju in.
I think you shine brightest as a writer when you're making human characters we can connect with.
Recfen started to circle with his opponent. He looked at his opponents toothpick once more as he noted how fragile it probably was. Recfens face quickly turned from a neutral line to a smirk as he dashed towards his opponent and closed the distance between them. He came in with a left to right slash, aiming for the flourish in hopes of snapping it early.
Turning and looking where the gun shot came from the Warden quickly two handed the Warhammer and took a ready stance, of course it wasn't common for Knights to be shooting at other knights, not anymore. Coming with his stance was the sound of his shield coming to life as followed by dead silence.
What in the world was the gun shot for?
With out even thinking the Warden slowly walked in the direction of the gun shot, of course he could have clearly seen where the shot came from, but his line of work was to get in between people and danger and his training was coming back to him.
In a hushed tone the warden said. "Get either an arena admin or guards. I believe firing weapons outside of the arena is not prohibited."
With his enemy dashing towards him, he watched as the man kept his momentum as he went into his slash. Earnest took the opportunity to use his shield for its main purpose by stepping towards Recfen and bashing his body with the shield. To block the incoming slash, earnest used his 'toothpick' but instead of forcefully blocking, he deflected it rather, having Recfen's sword ride up from the hilt into the air, parrying it away.
Though they seem weak, fencing swords are made to be tough. They have to penetrate armor with their tip, so the metal is made to not dull as easily. it is then flexible enough to not shatter and keep stays straight to hit where the user wishes to hit, such as kinks in the opponents armor.
"Hehe, alright thanks. Our standpoint is a bit far too diffrent no? I will be close" Sigil smiles full of victory. Even though he got a lot of negative response, at least he got the basic alerdy.
"Can't the showing off wait till you're actually IN the arena?" A voice came from nearby
"Technically, we are inside the arena, for your information. I mean the entire building is the argent arena." He turns his attention to the knight holding a dark retribution. He tilts his head, inspecting the bomb. "One of those that participate in operation crimson hammer i presume?" Without waiting he return to his chair, his left hand still intact to his rapier, and his right ready on the revolver. After a while there is another input, from a warden this time.
"Get either an arena admin or guards. I believe firing weapons outside of the arena is not prohibited."
"I never really think firing a shot will cause this much attention...." The knight mumbles. He pulls his hat, preventing it to slip further. The match on the other hand has begun, and the knights has started attacking each other. He watched as Earnest parried his opponent slash with the hilt of the rapier.
Another intresting move to note, it is not a bad choice to come here afterall
@Thin I wasn't planning on joining this RP, however correct you may be. I was planning on trying out some stuff with an NPC :3
I put my head back down, and looked around.
The battle had begun, but neither of the knights were using guns- Which was confusing.
I looked over to the commotion, hearing "Get either an arena admin or guards. I believe firing weapons outside of the arena is not prohibited."
If that were the case. . . It'd be more of a free for all, rather than an arena.
Which would be troubling- Because I would then need to find a better spot to shoot from.
However, it would probably be better to focus on the official fight.
I stood there, leaning against a wall and staring daggers of fire and ice at my enemie
"Hmm"I thought "Daggers of fire and ice might be fun" I might want to get some of those.
Athena's eyes narrowed as Sigil smiled at her and said, "Hehe, alright thanks. Our standpoint is a bit far too diffrent no? I will be close." Her delicate lips curved downwards into a scowl, and she sighed. I don't even know what he meant by that...
"Can't the showing off wait till you're actually IN the arena?" A voice came from nearby, adding to the girl's irritation. Showoff? Her? No, she was no showoff- far from it. Though her speed and skill may make her seem flashy, she was brutally efficient, and wasted no movement. As she was about to make a biting remark about how, truthfully, her little demonstration was pathetic compared to the true breadth of her ability, Sigil came to her defense "Technically, we are inside the arena, for your information. I mean, the entire building is the argent arena." Athena stared in awe at the man- she was shocked that anyone would defend her, much less a stranger.
Another voice, the Warden's, said from afar, "Get either an arena admin or guards. I believe firing weapons outside of the arena is not prohibited." Athena sighed and shook her head- she was surrounded by petty fools. Turning her attention to the screen, the girl watched attentively as the battle began, analyzing every movement the combatants made. She noticed Recfen smirk as he circled his opponent and shook her head in exasperation.
Never show emotion to your opponent. It's foolish to do so.
Swifter than an Ash Tail, Recfen dashed towards his opponent and unleashed a brutal swing. Athena frowned- the fool was leaving himself wide open! In an instant, Earnest gracefully parried the blade away and shield bashed Recfen, sending the latter skidding back a yard or so. Athena's mind scrambled- surely she'd have heard of a swordsman this adept, but she could not bring a name to mind. He looked very familiar, though... A war hero of some sort? Or was he the one who saved those people from the Skylark?
Recfen was knocked onto his back. He quickly recovered by rolling backwards onto his feet. His early game gamble hadn't worked, but he hadn't been hurt except for maybe a bruise. He started to circle his opponent again as he fixed his skolver helmet back on properly. His opponent seemed like a good one.
"Technically, we are inside the arena, for your information. I mean the entire building is the argent arena." I chuckled at the knight's rebuttal. "True, I'll give you that." I said simply. "Nice to see I'm not the only one with an attitude here." I thought to myself.
Get either an arena admin or guards. I believe firing weapons outside of the arena is not prohibited." I looked at the warden with a quizzical look. "I'm sure it's fine." I said, making a hand motion to him. I was beginning to get an idea of what the warden was like, he had rules and followed them. Nothing more, nothing less.
Everyone's attention turned to the nearby fight as Recfin was thrown back by a well placed shield slam. "That's the guy Kelani's rooting for." I thought to myself. She had a good reason too, there was masterful swordsmanship going on here, good thing I hadn't been fighting him first.
I turned to my left to see the sniper from earlier watching with a fervent focus. I looked over the armory she was carrying on her and decided one thing. She was good. I extended my arm out to the knight that had defended her. "Verz" I said casually.
EDIT: made a few typos in this one.
A small sigh came from the Warden as he opened his hands. in the moment he did the Warhammer seemed to demilitarize in the same faction as if he was changing to a different weapon. Only a moment later the Hammer appeared sandwiched on his back between the shield, which was powered down now.
Turning to the fight the Warden crossed his arms once more with an unseen display of anger. In fact the only display on his face visible through the vents, aside from the darkness that filled the helm, where two rather odd, white orbs that seemed to give a sign of where the warden was looking. Only they didn't blind like a normal eye, instead they just seemed to disappear and reappear as if they where just lights.
Knights these days. Too layed back, I have a feeling some of them are nothing more then Rookies trying to look like Vets. I bet they wouldn't last a day at Training for Wardens.
A small chuckle emitted from the Armored monster as he imagined the little Knights going through the training grounds and Medical visits. Seemingly amused the Warden turned and walked away back to his spot, each foot step leaving behind a rather notice able thud.
As Recfen rolled back, Earnest watched as him offensive opponents suddenly went to defensive, waiting for Earnest to strike just like he had done. Within a second of time, Earnest switched to his storm driver, sending two quick volleys towards Recfen. One headed towards his current position and the other headed towards his right.
With that, Earnest followed up with a dash, reequipping his flourish in the procces. He was headed slightly to Recfens left. With flourish and shield in hand, he braced for what could end up be a counterattack.
Athena didn't notice, but she had nodded in approval at Earnest's actions. Of course, Recfen could retreat or simply block one of the bullets, negating the strategy, but it was still a good one. All of Recfen's options were covered, and if he went backwards, he most likely would just get pressured even harder by his opponent.
Recfen was a capable fighter, but Athena was fixated on Earnest. He wasted not a single movement, using his weapons to maximum efficiency.
Truly a skilled opponent... I'll have to remember that.
Another thing troubled the girl- Earnest was a hybrid, all around fighter, and he seemed to be adept with all his weapons. His shot wasn't as good as hers, but that wouldn't matter at close range. Athena's brows furrowed in concentration as she tried furiously to find some sort of weakness in Earnest's fighting style, but even she hadn't found one so far.
Recfen quickly rolled to his left, dodging the fired shots. Recfen, noticing Earnests dash, stayed low to the ground with a crouch, held his shield over his head to protect from any overhead swings, and made a quick stab aiming towards his opponents legs.
Rudgard sighed to himself. He took his blade and put the tip of it into the ground with a thud. The fight had taken no time at all seemingly to get started. He started to take another glance at the contestants and he saw a warden whom he had somehow not seen earlier. He decided to make it a point to talk to him later sometime after the fight.
My attention was quickly diverted from the knight as I looked to the arena again. The fight was picking back up. Earnest had launched an assault on an open Recfen, who quickly dodged and blocked the onslaught of bullets and sword strikes. This was great most people here were CQC oriented, one thing I could easily deal with.
I grasped my Voltaic Tempest in my hand. One of these could easily shut down any swordsman, one small seizure due to shock and I could seal the game, then and there. The best part was my mercurial demo set kept me immune to its effects, and also boosted my speed.
I took another long look around the arena, which was mostly comprised of swordsman. The only people that seemed skilled with their guns were Earnest, the sniper, and the knight sitting next to me. They would be a problem, but I also had my own insurance for marksmen. Taking a quick look at my biohazard, I started to formulate a plan. I took another glance at the warden who had walked away.
He might be a problem too, due to his size and armor he could probably take a lot of abuse. But I figured I could outrun him if it came down to it. I grasped the hilt of my Cold Iron Vanquisher, if it really got dire I would have to use it. I like to think I'm proficient in CQC, but in a drawn out match I wouldn't be able to keep up with Earnest or Recfen.
I still had the upper hand though. With my mercurial gear I was probably the fastest person here, along with the fact that no one here really took bombers seriously. Keeping the sword users at bay was a number one priority, and closing the distance with the marksmen was equally as important.
Recfen's stab was expected by Earnest, it was what he had wanted. Rec had made a poor choice though. The Sword pierced into Earnest's thigh but the sword in use was made for slashing, its piercing ability was no where near as effective as Earnest's floursih, but that didnt matter, Earnest put his sword away, leaving him with his bare hands.
Earnest was still being stabbed by the sword and Rec had yet to pull out, both of them very close to each other. With that, Earnest swooped his hand low and gabbed the mans arm that held the shield and lifted him from the ground. Earnest gave no time for his opponent to redirect his sword and immediately slammed the man to the ground.
As he released the mans arm, he yanked off Recfen's shield and snapped the binding that he would have used to grip the shield.
"Recfen, you are a skilled opponent in speed and have great potential. I can let you leave this battle with the ability to learn and be a comrade in battle one day or you can leave here after losing something dear, your choice." Earnest had felt that Recfen would hold out his sword to intercept Earnest, but he expected it to me for his abdomen, which he was willing to take, he would have then hugged recfen close and begun stabbing recfen through the side upward into his rib-cage, but luckily that did not have to happen. It was Recfen's decision to either forfeit now or continue on to bloodshed that earnest was willing to go to.
Earnest drew his flourish again, just in case his opponent decided to be stubborn.
"Something dear? My dignity is the only thing dear to me. I'm not reliant on my shield as much as you are. Here, I'll show you." After letting off his smug speech, he rolled back into a standing position holding his sword in two hands. "Come at me, if you think you can take me."
There are a few items of business to take care of before I post.
@Sawhero: Xteri has edited his app, if you haven't seen it already. Post #1. One player, who shall remain unnamed, has voice some concerns about it.
@Critzer: Just FYI, Earnest's latest action is considered a power-play. I understand that you'd like to avoid the impossible situation of Recfen somehow miraculously avoiding Earnest's grasp. In that case, the best course of action is to write the action in such a way as to strongly suggest it without outright making it happen autonomously. I believe Archemiday is sufficiently competent as a player that he will recognize the compromising situation for what it is and react realistically.
The Aurum looked at both fighters. They were strong, brave. He hated to see them faced against each other. He looked at them both seriously.
"The rules are as follows: this fight is no holds barred. It will end when one fighter is unable to continue, or if I choose to stop the fight. The winner will continue on. That is all. So, without further discussion, let the fight begin!"
He stepped back, as a massive cheer rose from the crowd.
