"Politeness usually isn't shown by people trying to stab each other, is it?" Recfen started to back away from his opponent. He held a hand out in front of him and made a waving motion, as if signaling Earnest to attack him.
The Argent Arena-RP
@Critzer: Hey, no harm, no foul. Everybody power plays at some point. I've done it. Arch has done it. I bet even Vin has done it. The key to avoiding power playing is to recognize that we're all writing a story together. Power playing is symptomatic of a competitive mindset; freeform forum games, however, are more collaborative in nature, so when you want to perform an action that might be considered power playing, you may want to consider discussing it with the other player in question. We all like a good story, and chances are, the other player might actually like your proposed power play if it furthers the story!
Besides, you're a good writer, a team player, and a generally cool person; I can't speak for the others, but I certainly don't mind cutting you slack on such things. ;)
"True, I'll give you that." The knight replied.
What's with this guy? He just agreed to something that is the complete opposite of his first statement...
"Err... yeah sure..." Sigil doesn't even know how to react at this point. His hand is scratching the back of his neck, and his gaze is not even close to the guy he is talking to. Refcen and Earnest fight has gotten intresting. By this point Earnest seems to be the most likely to win. However, they seems to be on defense for now, with no one on offense, the fight could not continue like this forever.
C'mon Earnest, you got the guy, just go and finish him. Just remember to keep your distance and you're fine
Suddenly, Sigil could feel his feet geting numb, and his heart is beating too slowly. The knight slumps down to the floor from the chair he is sitting. His right eye turns blank, and he can't see from it either. He struggle to even get enough air to breath. His body are functioning more slowly, and some of his nerve systems are not working fully too.
Aaarrgggh! I am getting hollow? Now of all times?
The knight tries his best to roll over, turning his back to the floor. Since the aprocreans took a tiny bit of his soul, from time to time, his body operate non-optimally, and is only enough to supply for half of his function, and he sometimes speak no sense. The weird thing is, he never died because of this condition, only a bit dizzy and light headed after it.
He slowly regain his movement, and struggle to get back to his sitting position.
Hope no one notice that...
Rudgard had noticed the knight who greeting him earlier on the ground. He picked up his sword and walked over. "Hey, you need a hand?"
Earnest tilted his head as in a gesture of "Ok" and he whipped out his storm driver. He sent volley after volley down range towards Recfen. Earnest began to walk in a circling around slowly. He did leave time in between his shots as to not overheat the barrel.
Earnest understands what Recfen is doing and would do the same. He knows he'd be better off with his shield, even if he doesn't say it, no one would want to lose a part of their equipment.
Out of know where, Earnest follows a volley with a fake dash, only stepping quickly one or two feet, he wanted to see how Recfen would react.
OOC: will be back later, hope to see some other people posting some rp, including you Thin, i want some reactions!
Sigil watchs as a knight walks over to him.
A guy has noticed...
"Hey, you need a hand?" He asked Sigil.
He wants to answer, but he can't. He even has a hard time breathing. He shakes his head, making a no gesture. And points at the cloack and making an 'It will go away by it's own' gesture. By now he can alerdy move his leg by a bit, The Hollow does noy stay for long but is incredibly painfull. He can feel his heart pace starting to fasten up.
Lucky this does not happen in the arena
I cringed as I saw what happened to Recfen. Earnest practically drove him into the ground. I would need to keep my distance from his grapple or it could turn ugly. Earnest was hiding something else behind that swordsmanship. There was something much more brutal about him.
Just as I was about to make another analysis I heard a large crash from my left. The knight that had been with the sniper crashed to the ground. Another knight rushed up to him and helped him up. I walked over quickly "What the hell was that?" I asked quickly.
Recfen dodged or reflected most of the shots that were fired towards him. They both started to circle around, and Earnest continued to fire. Earnest quickly shot of a volley followed by a feint dash, but it had no effect on Recfen. Recfen quickly rolled up to his shield, grabbed it by its rim, and dashed away. "Y'know, a shield isn't useless when its broken. Why don't you come over here and I'll show you?"
Hey, can you have Kel and Bishop duke it out next? Liminori has an awesome character that I don't want to see left by the wayside again. I'd have Kel interact with Bishop, but she's not presently in a position to.
(( while we're on the topic of matchups, who will Hikari be facing? Also, is this to the death, until someone is maimed, or can a player forfeit?))
____
Athena again nodded in approval, but this time at Recfen, who had taken a relatively safe option of crouching and shielding, along with a low stab. The blade pierced Earnest's thigh, but the older knight showed no signs of pain. He sheathed his own blade and proceeded to- egad, was he using his bare hands?
Impossible... Did he plan that?!
Earnest then did something even more unexpected and lifted his opponent from the ground, then slammed him back down. Releasing Recfen's arm, he tore the man's shield away and snapped its binding.
A risky play. Foolhardy to no end. But surprisingly effective. I'll definitely need to keep my distance with this one.
Earnest paused the duel and said, "Recfen, you are a skilled opponent in speed and have great potential. I can let you leave this battle with the ability to learn and be a comrade in battle one day or you can leave here after losing something dear, your choice."
Earnest drew his flourish again, just in case his opponent decided to be stubborn.
And decide he did. Recfen's eye twitched irritatedly as he replied, "Something dear? My dignity is the only thing dear to me. I'm not reliant on my shield as much as you are. Here, I'll show you." After letting off his smug speech, he rolled back into a standing position, holding his sword with both two hands. "Come at me, if you think you can take me."
Athena nearly laughed in disbelief. Unless Recfen had some secret weapon or technique he was hiding, the odds of him defeating Earnest were in the range of two to nine percent. It was foolish, but she understood his thinking. She, too, was prideful, and would not back down easily.
In a blatant display of disrespect, Earnest merely whistled and remarked, "Its polite for the younger ones to come to those who are older, rather than have them walk."
"Politeness usually isn't shown by people trying to stab each other, is it?" The younger knight replied, starting to back away from his opponent. In his own show of arrogance, Recfen held a hand out in front of him and beckoned Earnest to attack.
Through all this, out of the corner of her eye, Athena noticed Sigil experience some kind of trouble breathing, but paid it no mind.
Earnest tilted his head in acknowledgement to Recfen, then whipped out his Storm Driver. He sent volley after volley down range towards Recfen. Earnest began to walk in a circling around slowly. He did leave time in between his shots as to not overheat the barrel. Athena practically barfed- though a stellar shot compare to most Knights, Earnest's aim was atrocious. He still wasted no movement, but Athena could easily nail Recfen between the eyes had she taken Earnest's place. The skilled warrior followed a volley with a feint, baiting Recfen in and trying to entice a reaction.
Interesting... He leads with his right foot. I'll remember that
Athena's concentration on the fight suddenly broke as Sigil collapsed to the ground. Two knights approached the fallen man, and one asked incredulously, "What the hell was that?"
Though many would call her callous for not bothering to help, Athena found it more urgent that she continue analyzing the fight. She needed more data on her potential adversaries.
With Earnest's feint giving him a few crucial moments, Recfem quickly rolled up to his shield, grabbed it by its rim, and dashed away. A smirk crossed his face, and he taunted. "Y'know, a shield isn't useless when its broken. Why don't you come over here and I'll show you?"
A shield would, however, be useless if it got blasted by a 50 caliber round infused with pure Crystal Energy. Athena sighed- all this dialogue and baiting would have given her ample time to put a bullet through either of their skulls.

((OOC: Hikari is mentally dissecting Recfen and Earnest. Kinda scary... She's more machine than girl, in all honesty.))
I didn't exactly want to criticize, but I want to point out that the RP seems to be somewhat... tiresome.
I can see that people are intended to interact and build up connections and whatnot, but it seems that it's mostly people typing out reactions to the battle. Is there perhaps a way to engage people more, if they don't want to do what's being done? I may totally be wrong here, though =P
You're not alone. I noticed it too. I think things will really get interesting once everyone has had a chance to fight; that way, the rivalries and alliances start forming. The interest will grow exponentially if we also begin teaming up.
Until then, though, I agree that we need something to keep things interesting. The game won't ever get off the ground if the players are too bored to continue.
EDIT: On an unrelated note, it's too late in the day and I'm too tired to post anything of quality. I'll put off my next post for tomorrow. Good night, everyone.
Sigil inhales a lot of air. His lung finally going back to its sense. After a while he answers two of the knight that tries to help him. "I'm fine, it happens a lot, today is just a lot longer that's all." The knight rests his head to the wooden bench, his left hand covering his right eye, it is twitching and feel hot. Huh? Has he ever felt this before?
My eye... This is new... It is still unusable at this point.. might take longer than the other
He let out a loud sigh. His condition is getting worst everyday, he need to find his lost soul faster, that means winning this arena faster too. His right hand reachs for the dormant rapier in his waist, it is gleaming in red for a while now. The blade reminds him about the move Earnest use to deflect refcen slashes.
"Anybody got a normal sword? I want to try some moves, it does not need to be real, just some weapon testing. Anybody want to spar?" He boldly declare. At this point, Sigil need to know if he can fight without his right eye. Because if he hollows when he is in a fight, it is clearly over if he can't fend off for himself.
((@Hex After i read our post again, it is kinda like that. I think we need to start interacting))
I look up from my malicious gaze and scanned the room, then walked over to one of the free buffet tables for the contestants. Every single scrap of food was gone, It even looked like someone had licked all the serving dishes. "Critzer" I said, reaching into my memory to find her name "you are covered in crumbs and that large bag you are holding is highly suspicious."
@Archemiday-Thebard
I feel like i could have punished you for dashing to pick up your shield... But oh well whats done is done.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Earnest watched as the knight rolled to get his shield, Earnest merely watched as he dashed back. As his opponent pitched his taunt, Earnest dashed into a roll towards his opponent, withdrawing his flourish, coming out of roll with a swipe of his gran faust aimed at Recfen's legs, mainly his kneecaps. Earnest positioned his shield accordingly over him, guarding any quick second slashes of stabs from the guarded angle.
(This is the assumption that Recfen is dominantly right handed and his left hand is preoccupied with holding the shield, so the shield is facing Recfen's sword which is towards a right angle. Due to its size, it being an Aegis, to cover a partial bit of the left side, just to rim to stop something from continuing.)
Earnest prepared his right leg for what would most likely occur.
Recfen jumped back a little too late and his lower leg got scraped by the slash. He flinched in pain but made a quick recovery. He throw his shield like a boomerang, aiming for Earnest's unguarded side, as he finished his hop backwards
Earnest stayed on the offensive, he switched to his flourish as the flying shield came him and Recfen had just dashed away. He used his prepared right leg to launch him off in a diagonal in perspective to Recfen's position, heading towards rec's right. He grunted a little from the stab he had taken earlier but he had taken worse. As earnest came out of the roll, he was maybe a foot or two.
He swiveled to face Recfen, and did a lunging stab at Rec, his left arm following in the lunge, shield in hand. Eanest still kept rec to his left slightly.
Edit: Mosed the "Eanest still kept rec to his left slightly." so it made more sense as to his positioning.
The stab had pierced his upper left arm. A grunt was heard from behind his mask. He pulled away from the stab quickly after being hurt. Deciding to be even more reckless, he jumped and tried to drop kick his opponents shield.
Earnest tensed his muscles in his left arm and bashed the kick to the side when it made contact, following up with a stab. The kick did however make Earnest take a single step back and stress his stabbed leg again.
Recfen rolled in air to dodge the stab. He hit the ground and rolled to a standing position again. He quickly rushed at Earnest again and this time, rather than trying to hit Earnest, he tried to puncture through his shield with a vicious stab.
Earnest watched as his opponent recklessly went into a lunging stab at him. Earnest was surprised when he stepped forward and the sword blatantly went into the shield, as if Recfen had planned that but Earnest didnt know why he would do that. As the Metal shield did its job at blocking the piercing attack just at it had been made to do. Earnest let out a grunt of discomfort as the shield vibrated from the force of the stab making contact with the shield.
(At this point your blade would snap, bend, or at the best possible scenario, become blunt)
Earnest held out his flourish for Recfen to lead into as his lunge continued after Earnest had stepped closer to Recfen after he had already began lunging.
(It would break in real life, but you have to factor in that equipment in Spiral Knights is vastly more durable. Swords, armor, and especially shields don't break as easily. Even shields, when broken, regenerate. I'm trying to fight from an SK lore standpoint while it seems you're aiming for a more realistic standpoint.)
After the stab had failed to puncture the shield, Recfen quickly dodged Earnests attempted lunge by falling to the ground. From this position Recfen quickly tried to sweep his opponent off his feet with a somewhat capoeira like spin.
(You say that but what if I had not deflected your attack in the beginning and rather bluntly blocked it. Your sword is a lower grade then my shield as well as the fact it isnt made for stabbing, but ill let that slide since you let me get away with the power play.)
Earnest gave credit to his opponents quick thinking and stumbled at the kick, having tensed his muscles before his leg got hit, the shinguard on his legs helping cushion the blow. He quickly pulled out his storm driver and shot at Recfen point-blank, as he was still on the ground.
(Swords are a bit more fragile than shields. Shields are more durable in Spiral Knights due to their ability to regenerate.)
Not being able to move quick enough, Recfen took the full effect of the shot. His opponent heard a cry of pain as the shot connected with his left leg. Motivated by fear of losing the fight, he pushed himself to pounce on top of his opponent. He moved his sword to his left hand, and aimed to slice his opponents shield arm. With the other hand, he tried to wrestle for control of the blaster.
(OOC: Glurk!)
While I watched the fight, I realised that my opponent would probably use any and every trick they could to beat me.
I will have to do the same, won't I?
Hmph.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a knight fall from his chair (Spot check; Critical Sucess) and then proceeded to fall flat on my face (Endurance; Critical Failure) before I could help. By the time I had dusted myself off, he was already back up, then asking for a fight so he could test himself.
This came across to me as odd. Why would he fight when he just lost his strength?
Before I could finish my thought process, The fight had gotten worse, both opponents were exausted, and. . .
*CraaaaaaACKOW*
The shot resounded throughout the arena.
Point blank, Execution style.
I stared in fear.
Was he okay?
I need to be caref- *TZZZzzzzert*
Bishop had blown a fuse from overprocessing, Which was not unusual in the S33 Model, hence the regenerating circuits.
However, this took time- Thus the VUD saw it fit to add a backup, An alternate mode. This was difficult for them to program, as it meant having a base AI and the fully developed one in the same shell.
Sparks were flying out of the back of Bishop's head, and her- It's eyes turned green.
Since the regenerating circuits required energy, It now had to move to a better vantage point from which to accquire maximum solar power.
>Error, Circuitry malfunction. Engaging power retrieval.
It then jumped high into the air, higher than a human being could, and jumped up the side of the building by then running up it.
Edit: Make that ten posts.
Argh, the problem with making huge posts, and then someone posts before you finish.
Earnest could only groan in the pain of his left arm, the sword slashed his arm. He was face to face with his opponent now. Earnest fired two shots into Recfens torso in quick succession. This overheated the barrel and he had to toss the gun behind him, keeping it away from his opponent.
With his hand free and his opponent frantic, Earnest bear hugged Recfen. With the shield now behind, (keep in mind this in an Aegis) Earnest unsheathed the dagger like blade sheathed in the shield and proceeded stab Recfen in the back, aiming below the shoulder blades, but other then that, it was more frantic then Earnest would have wanted.
Earnest held Recfen as hard as he could as he proceeded to stab his reckless opponent. There helmets grinded against each other as they were so close.
Recfen was happy with his hit to the left arm, which should have weakened his blocking ability with that arm, but the happiness went away quickly after he took two shots to the chest. He yelled in pain but kept on focusing on his opponent. He tried to grab the gun but was disappointed when Earnest had thrown the gun away. He quickly tried to go for another slash but was quickly stopped as his opponent grabbed him and drew a blade from his Aegis. He got stabbed. He yelled. He started to feel adrenaline come to him. He got stabbed again. He yelled again. He could feel a rush coming on. As Earnest prepared for another swipe, Recfen made an adrenaline infused push against his opponent, overpowering the weak shield arm holding him down. He rolled backwards, away from his opponents, and winced in pain. He would've died if his armor wasn't pierce resistant. If he didn't do anything soon, the winner was apparent. Some tears started to form in his eyes, not from pain, but rather of sadness. Was... was this the end for him? Was his only redeemable quality going to turn to dust? He shook his head. No. He wasn't going to pull any punches. He would fight to the death, and he would win even if it required him to kill his opponent.
"You... you think that's enough to kill me? I'm not famed for losing to people who only fight because they have nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon. I'm famed for winning!"
"Finally" earnest yelled as he rolled his neck, popping sounds could be heard. He grabbed his storm driver and re-holstered it, keeping an eye on his dwindling opponent. He resheathed his dagger into the aegis shield but this, unknown to Recfen, Earnest latched it in.
Earnest mentally checked his injuries, which consisted of a slash to his left arm and puncture in his right thigh. Recfen was worse off though, he had taken a bash to the chest, been slammed onto the ground, a stab into his upper left arm, a shot into his left leg, two shots to the torso and two stabs to the back. Recfen was going to bleed out soon, blotches of blood could be seen where he was stabbed, the back and front of his torso has taken a beating.
Earnest equipped his flourish again, waiting.
A blood curdling shout echoed from the arena. I quickly walked back to my previous position next to Kelani. Recfen had been shot, and it looked like he was getting desperate. "You... you think that's enough to kill me? I'm not famed for losing to people who only fight because they have nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon. I'm famed for winning!" The mettle in Recfen's voice illustrated his drive.
I turned to Kelani. You could tell her mood from just looking at her. Worry was stricken on her face and it made me think, who was this guy to her? "Looks like your friends in trouble." I said as I walked over. "Earnest is brutal and efficient, I hope your friend knows how to deal with that." I glanced over to her for a response.
Recfen kept his eyes on his opponent while he walked over to his shield. He picked up the broken shield and made a small hole into it with his sword. He backed away as he started to take off his belt, slightly loosening his Skolver coat. "You just gonna stand there and watch?" he taunted.
As Recfen went over to the shield, Earnest pulled out his driver and fired shots at him as he tried getting the shield, but he was unsuccessful. He kept firing, stepping forward as Recfen began "fixing" by damaging it in the process, much like breaking an arm to fix a leg.
As Earnest got closer, he noticed Recfen removed the belt on his skolver gear, loosening it, he wouldnt be surprised if he tripped on it now that it began to sag and a bit.
Dodging and weaving through shots and when he could stepping away from Earnest, Recfen looped the belt through the hole in the shield and tied it. At this point, the shield looked like a reverse cymbal. After stumbling over his loose coat a few times, he accommodated for it and regained his footing. Seeing as Earnest had his gun out and his shield arm was weak, a close combat situation would fit Recfen better. He put on his shield and quickly dashed towards his opponent and came in with a right underhand slash, aiming for Earnest's gunning hand.
((@Critzer: I left you an in-game PM. It's kind of important.))
Kel watched as Recfen and Earnest bobbed and weaved across the battlefield. In naught but half a minute, Earnest gained the upper hand, disarming Recfen of his shield, injuring his legs and shoulder, and putting distance between them so he could fill the battlefield with gunfire. Kel's fists balled up and drew near to her scabbard as she forced herself to watch Recfen struggle to repair his shield under a withering hail of electric fire.
But she didn't fear for his life. He was a strong warrior, the best she knew. He was a righteous man, and wouldn't lose to a cruel, conceited knight like Earnest.
Someone walked over to her and said, "Looks like your friend's in trouble. Earnest is brutal and efficient, I hope your friend knows how to deal with that."
Then she remembered Recfen's words. "You think that's enough to kill me?"
Kill me?
Kill me!?
Heresy.
Her fist found her sword in a pale grip.
With a deadpan stare the Warden just gazed on at the arena battle. At this point it was getting rather, long winded, at least that was what he was thinking. Then again he was prepared for long winded fights considering his kind where not quick with there feet. No in this situation it was about aggression in a fight over defending ones self. At the very least the match was entertaining, at the most it was starting to look like a one sided battle near the end.
I wonder who is next. Personally I wouldn't mind waiting a little longer. It's not like I am going to be up staging anyone any time soon.
The giant shifted in his spot, letting his arms hang slightly. As he moved the great armor he ware clanged and chattered, as one would expect from some one having as much weight and metal on their body as he had.
The rapid dash was anticipated, its all Recfen could do, he had no counter measures to medium/long range fighting and worked best at close range. The problem was, Earnest rapid firing was merely a trap to get his opponents to either keep moving or get close to him, his own kill zone. He was stronger then Recfen and more experienced. Earnest gave his opponent a chance to fight him as an equal another day but he choose not to, instead he went off on a gamble that he may win. The Spiral order had no use for those who didnt know when a retreat was necessary, when they couldn't win a fight. This Arena was to point out those who could change in the middle of battle and not let emotion cloud their judgement. The order is based off of teamwork and strategy, one-trick lone-wolfs were shut down and turned away constantly. If one wanted dignity, they could go to Lock down, at least there it was merely a simulation. But here, its definitely far from a simulation. Earnest gave the man his voice and the man spat at him, bearing their teeth. This choice was the last Earnest had wanted and therefore Recfen will receive what he had wished.
Earnest's prepared for the strike by unlocking his elbow before hand and moving his shield over to his torso. As he watched Recfen quickly close the distance, Earnest's own adrenaline kicked in, rapidly being pumped into his bloodstream. Earnest's perception of time slowed, his reactions became swifter. With the closing distance now, Recfen had already began his slash, having had his sword at the side to preform the slashing movement. Since the slash was coming from Recfen's right, which was Earnest's left, he didnt have to move his shield much, moving the shield in the path of the sword. His right hand which held his gun had begun retracting the moment Recfen had reached a threshold of distance to close for him to effectively use his gun. As the sword slash had already begun, the steps where in place. The sword connected with the shield as Earnest was just putting his gun back into its holster. He had no time use his flourish though but he was able to holster his gun. His hand began to transition to his gran faust making its way there as Earnest's time began to run out. The sword had already connected and was now beginning to grind upwards against the shield.
As Earnest's hand gripped his large sword, his unequipped slowed as the large blade was being pulled out from its latch, Earnest began to do the standard gran faust maneuver, bring it out with a left to right slash from hip. At this time the sword and deflected off the shield and harmlessly into the air. Earnest was aiming the larger blade at Recfen's gut, a place he had left open.
(@Thin: I didnt receive the mail you sent, resend.
Recfen quickly moved his shield to accommodate for the large and predictable blade swiping towards him. The slash met metal and pushed to two away. He cringed as the force put pressure on his arm and made it erupt in pain. He began to slowly circle his opponent again. As he observed his opponent, he felt a bit demoralized, but not enough to influence his fighting. He had a strong feeling his opponent was woefully underestimating him. After taking a few seconds to breath, he took advantage of the fact that his opponent was now using a terribly slow weapon and dashed into the fight again. He came in with a right overhead swing, but quickly darted his hand to the left before it had a chance to hit his shield, and he aimed instead for Earnest's head and body. A feint had been something he hadn't done the entire fight, so it would have been unpredictable.
"I guess no one is up to a spar. That is expected, since they will be using all their energy on the latter fight.." Sigil mumbles to himself. He turns his attention back to the wide screen, the fight has gotten a lot more intresting by the minutes. Earnest has switched to a grand faust, and Refcen has started to counter-attack.
I wouldn't reccomend switching to a heavy sword. If it were him, he would use his flourish to thrust his opponent back after countering Refcen.
He has a hard time observing the match however, The knight's right eye has not fully regain its sight.
Earnest watched as Recfen prepared his strike and acted accordingly. Earnest re-sheathed his gran faust as he twirled to his left, ending closley on Recfen's right in the middle of his swing. The feint merely caused Recfen to miss even more.
In the back of his mind Earnest had the will to fight, the want to win but another part of him told him no, killing comrades in an arena to test its soldiers was blasphemy. He didnt want to known as "The veteran that killed the rookie in the Arena." It gave Earnest a bitter taste in his mouth, something Earnest didnt want to leave with.
With Earnest not wanting to kill the fight, and the fight becoming to costly for the both of them, Earnest decided to end the fight here and now. As he came out of the twirl-dodge, Earnest, with his right hand, gripped the mans neck guard and pulled him down. The jerk down was followed by a knee to his gut where he had landed his shots earlier. As Recfen's body recoiled from the gut wrenching knee, he followed up with an elbow down, landing right between the shoulder blades. The elbow knocked Recfen to the ground, Earnest let out a sigh as his adrenaline slowly began to subside. The blows should keep Recfen on the ground writhing in pain long enough to do what he wished to do.
"I FORFEIT" He yells into the crowd. He looks back down at his opponent "Fight me another day, bring a better shield that time." He begins to walk away, placing his shield onto his back. He then looked into the crowd again lifting his mask, only to spit to the side, if one looked hard enough, they could see Earnest had multiple scars across his face. He pulled his mask back down and walked to the infirmary, leaving the arena combat area.
The slash missed. Crud. Recfen could only watch as his swing finished. Earnest quickly moved to his right and grabbed his neck guard and kneed him in the gut, followed by an elbow down. Before Earnest could do anything much more, he noticed his opponent didn't move at all. Recfen was dead.
OoC: I didn't realize you'd be that mad at a request. You could have denied it and had Earnest win, rather than swearing at Thin.
OoC 2: One major flaw this RP has is that roleplayers are now literally competing for their right to Roleplay on the only standing RP thread. It makes for a more hostile environment where instead of working on a story they are competing instead.
@Archemiday-Thebard: Just because i lost doesnt mean im out of the rp. I can either take part in tag team match where players are faced 2v2, a winner on each team, a loser on each. There is also the fact that i can watch and take part in the crowd, interact with characters. I was mad cause it was the first thing i woke up to and secondly cause i had forseen you guys asking. I accepted it because i expect good things and kinda wanna see recfen fall. Secondly, i need earnest to stay alive and that isnt guaranteed in further fights.
When i make a post i dont change it, turn that stuff back, Recfen won, now deal with your win and continue.
@thin: I sent a mail, im sorry ;-;
@Critzer Nope. I'm not going back on what I've posted. If you're angry enough to swear at Thin. The RP is starting to frustrate me an make me more angry than joyful anyways because of a flaw I mentioned in #140 OoC 2. I'm formally dropping out in a way that makes sense for the story.
@Archemiday-Thebard ...... Wait you did you guys expect me to not be kinda mad...? Well either way i think the rp is dead, most of the people havent posted in a while, Sawhero is no where to be found, i wanted to forfeit for a while and you guys merely gave me the little push i needed. Now ive made you and thin mad cause i woke up on the wrong side of the bed. This can end with us both dropping and i go do my own thing and/or we start the skylark rp, with a better start off and a better middle good stuff.
I think the main reason this died is because people have to wait their turn to fight, and the lack of a mod. I think we should go with the skylark idea and get a more reliable mod this time.
@Critzer I expected some anger, but not the anger you showed. You started off by swearing within the first 5 words. I won't hold a grudge, but I'm going to hold you to your actions.
I think the root of the problem is that the arena is expected to be a fight to the death. We invest so much in our characters, and it's painful to watch them die, especially on fight #1. Anybody would be angry at losing in such an environment; heck, even I'd be more than a little disappointed, and I'm usually practiced in the art of not being attached to my characters. I think Critzer's reaction was natural.
*hugs Critzer*
It's not wholly your fault. Don't lose heart. We still love you. At least, I do. :-)
Speaking of which, where are you, man? I've been devising options for the story that let Earnest win without breaking Recfen's story, but they require a couple small but fundamental changes to the game that I don't have the power to make. And then there's the fact that your players are chafing at the built in limits of the game; we need you to be the GM and use us to weave a story.
I'm crafting another RP based on the Crash, and I'm hosting this time. I want you in that game. :D
Earnest sighed at the young man. He got into readied position again, just as before. Recfen was at a lack of speed now, his shield now removed of its former effectiveness. It lay there on the ground in front of Earnest.
Earnest faced Recfen and watched as he gripped the sword with both hands, already thinking of the disadvantages it brought. Earnest merely whistled under his masked, "Its polite for the younger ones to come to those who are older rather then have them walk."
Earnest tapped the ground with the tip of his flourish in wait. He waited, planning his response to if Recfen's moves, generally thinking hed charge as it seemed to be how he liked to fight. Recfen's first move had decided Earnest's view on his style.
OOC: I do have to admit that it did seem like power play but i did let you stab me. What else do you think i was going to do though? I was headed to your left as I herded you to the left with the shots. I honestly thought what I had said would happen. If that isnt the power playing part, please clarify.
EDIT: Ok Thin, ill keep that in mind, sorry.
