Tinkering?

Again Grael found himself interrupted, this time by total darkness. Blinded, he dropped to the ground again where he felt more stable, he heard noises, but couldn't recognize what they belonged to. He kept one hand tightly gripped around his gun...

Then it ended, the darkness cleared away and the Mecha-Knights were all revealed to be destroyed. While Grael saw that the injured knight was the one from earlier, the one with the interesting Magnus, he would be no use medically, he didn't have any knowledge of medicine. Nevertheless, he decided he would take the time to inspect the Mecha-Knights now that they were hopefully harmless.

He picked his way to the nearest one and knelt by it, prying its sword from its arm. Grael tossed away the blade, now if the construct reanimated somehow, then it would be harder for it to just gut him instantly. He pulled a screwdriver out of his belt and poked around the bot.

Let's see what makes you tick...

The scream struck Ragnir's ears like a hammer. No one told me we needed earplugs!

And then he heard someone say, "That was a Valkyrie! It didn't feel friendly..."

Ragnir lifted his hands up to his ears and gritted his teeth. A Valkyrie.

Could it be Serah?

Ragnir tried moved toward the source of the scream, eventually getting a slight bearing. There was one Valkyrie other than Mundy that he'd met since unfreezing, and that was Serah. So, without much of a plan, he stumbled forward, ignoring the darkness...

...then the noise stopped. The darkness lifted.

"Ragnir! Are you OK?"

It was Rega. "I'm fine! That Valkyrie. Where'd she go?"

"Valkyrie?! So that's what that was."

Ragnir felt the adrenaline leaving his system. His ears were still ringing from that noise. Valkyrie was nowhere to be seen... Ragnir let out a word that isn't meant for polite company.

"Ragnir. Language."

"Ahem. Excuse me..." Ragnir fell on his stomach. "Hey, sis, you mind..." Ragnir drifted off to sleep in the middle of the stairs.

---

Rega, with the help of another recruit, had dragged Ragnir back into his sleeping bag.

Now it was time to continue that other project. "Hmm. Need three more of these fuel cells..." Rega looked through a checklist. "Boy, when Ragnir wakes up, he's gonna be surprised."

The busted Mecha Knights had usable spare parts, and Rega had a need for spare parts. The Starpod wasn't ever going to fly again, not after the kind of disrepair it (and the Skylark) had suffered. But it wasn't entirely useless...

What did Mundy feel?

A hot metal glove.
A long, thin blade reminiscent of rapiers.
Hollow breath like behind a mask.

But the feelings didn't end there. For long after the blade was removed from him, another, stranger sensation took hold of him. Something in his chest beat with pulses of life that were not his own, sapping his will and giving him strength in return.

That was the day he first met the Voices.

Oh ho ho

"Wha- What the hell is that?!" Chael stumbled to his knee. A painfull stab like sensation filled the knights eardrum. Without him noticing it has been bleeding for a while now. He felt helpless. It's like the day of the tearium bombing, once again surviving something that common sense tell 'Unsurviveable'.

The other knight? not so good either. He fell into fetal position and cried, sobbed, and screamed. And the mecha knight is long gone-not to Chael bomb, but to an unknown force.

The world fell into a sort radio silence, filled with colorless static.

" Anybody might explain.. WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED!? " Chael broadcasted over the comlink. Maybe other knew what it was, but this is a new feild for the bomber.

Chipping in

Looking at Kora then back at the wounded man.

He isn't going to make it if she is just going to get cold feet.

Taking off his gloves, sliding up the metal and fur covered sleeve's, Amaria opened the Medical kit, pulling out a bottle of alcohol and bio-foam. He was going to have to trim some hanging flesh and remove the currently standing bio-foam. It was going to get messy and for the knight painful. Hoping to alleviate some of the pain the Swordsmen pulled out what looked like three small tablets, about two inch's long and and inch in diameter.

Taking the top off it exposed a needle head about half-a-inch long. "I won't lie, your going to hate me," the Swordsmen said as he jabbed the wounded Knight, "but maybe with this it will make you feel a little better. Don't worry it's a Syrette." Squeezing the back of the tablet like device morphine was injected into the area around the wound. Thankfully, or maybe not, the armor the man had on was bent just enough he could navigate the needle to where it needed to be.

"Alright next is Vitamin K. It sounds strange but it will thicken your blood to help prevent blood loss..." With that said he injected the second needle directly into the mans neck, sure a strange place but it was a direct line to the main veins to spread it quickly to the wound. The last needle he pulled out simply said Atropine, it was going to dry is mouth and help prevent any needless loss of liquid to help in the field patch job.

Looking at Kora, Amaria gave a rather angry glace, he wasn't angry at her just a little upset she wasn't getting a hold of real doctor or response team at the moment. Looking back at the soldier Amaria poured some alcohol on his hands, then on a scalpel from the kit. Slowly, with the practiced hands of a Swordsmen he cut away the bio-foam that was there and the loose hanging skin that clung too it.

"Son, I an't going to lie. Your more then likely going to die here, but I will do my best to prevent that."

With that said, Amaria started his work. It wasn't the first time he had to preform field surgery, it was just this time things where a little bit more favorable.

Rin, I hope I can do this as repentance.

Tinkering

While Amaria performed his surgery, Grael was working on his own, albeit on a robot.

Grael fiddled around in the workings of the Mecha-Knight, the workings operated very basically. Everything seemed centralized around a main computer in the head, maybe there was information in the head that could prove useful. He poked around a little bit more in the main body, then moved to the head. He pried it open and peered inside, there was a cylindrical device that seemed mostly intact, with the singular eye connected directly to the brain.

Now to remove it in one piece.

He tugged on the cylinder lightly, it showed no signs of budging. He poked around and discovered the screws that held it in place, they were located on the lower part of the head, and would prove difficult to reach. Unless...

Grael withdrew from the head and let it slump to the ground with a dull thud. If he detached the head, he might be able to find a way to take the brain out from the bottom. He thought for a moment, pondering where he left his handheld laser cutters, then decided he would use his Spur instead. Drawing the blade, Grael made sure to remove the energy caster so the volatile energy wouldn't result in an explosion that could damage the brain.

One swift chop cleaved the head from the body, and Grael withdrew his spur. He set the blade down in easy reach in case he needed it again, and picked up the head. He unscrewed a few screws and the bottom plating fell away, revealing the bottom of the cylindrical brain. Grael inspected the connection points and sighed.

Better go find those laser cutters.

Ragnir was tired, and so he kept sleeping. Occasionally he'd mumble things like "meh, just a coupla turrets" or "I'm here to bail you out, Captain". Mostly, he snored. Loudly.

Rega wasn't asleep. With a few scavenged parts added to a small collection of junk Ragnir had picked up on the trip, and enough of those copper coins to pay a few mechanically-oriented recruits, the Starpod was getting an upgrade. Rega talked with the mechanics over the comlink.

"So can we paint something on the front? Something intimidating. Like a burning dragon skull. Or a giant mouth full of sharp teeth. Ooh, wait, wait, can we get it in camo? ...Yeah, you're right. Hmm. How about a huge fist? Oh, yeah, take out the cryopod and keep the tanks. They're all yours. I don't like cryosleep anyway. Oh, yeah, don't take that bathroom stall out unless it causes a weakness. Aww, it does? Shoot! Take it out, I guess. That bathroom wasn't to die for anyway. Sure, keep it!"

Kora wasn't idle. She applied pressure to the wound with her elbow, ripped open a needle packet and fluid bag with her teeth, and started an IV drip. Without any spare blood supplies, a volume-expansion fluid would have to suffice. "Just hand in there Mundy," she repeated, more confidently this time.

Mundy needed more than a doctor, though. A still, small voice spoke from the depths of his mind. Mundy, help me please...I'm hungry. His stomach churned, inadvertently spurting more blood into the rag plugging his wound. He regained consciousness, and immediately wished he hadn't. His wound gnawed at him something awful.

Shrieks and cries could still be heard in the distance, but only now did they grow loud enough to be noticeable. They sounded anguished, like the agonized screams of someone being eaten alive. And they didn't stop. For hours the cries continued, sometimes intermingled with garbled english that sounded like pleading. Soon, even the nearby monsters started fleeing into Rescue Camp to get away from it. Gremlins darted past the knights with their ears plugged. Wolvers raced away through the forest whining the whole way.

This would be a long night for everyone.

Cherub Returns

As the night wore on and the knights struggled to regroup, Cherub reappeared from the shadows with Anya in tow. Both of them looked frazzled and frayed, but otherwise in one piece. "How is everyone? Are you guys are okay?" he asked. "It seems the camp was attacked by the screaming creature, so we rushed here as fast as we could. Looks like we're a little late. What's the body count?"

Over the comlink Amaria reported.

"One dead, One mortally wounded, uncounted major to minor wounded, uncounted ready for battle. The conclution; the people need rest or a new camp. Also that screaming thing, Valkyrie."

The Swordsmen didn't really show any signs of disrespect, more like talking to some one of the same rank given his backround. Yet his attention was more or less dictated to the current problem.

"Kora, open up a second IV. We are going to need a Anesthetics, Diprivan will do. There should be some in the bag other wise call it in. Considering the morphine is going to be used more Diprivan should be easy to get ahold of. Also as for the IV if there is any TPN around, start him on that. He isn't going to be eating till this wound clears up."

Looking back at the makeshift patch he sighed as he was almost done, covered up to his wrist in blood and fluids the swordsmen remained calm even though on the inside his mind was racing about the valkyrie.

Cold.

The sound resonated endlessly within the walls of Den's mind. Flickers of heat and light, dancing at the edges of his consciousness, remained unimpeded by the vocalized death.

Slowly, he thrust one shuddering hand in front of another. His feet kicked at the ground, failing to gain purchase, even as his hands dragged him forward. Closer, past derelicts and injured.

Warm.

Armed with the laser cutter, Grael returned to the broken Mecha-Knight and picked up the slightly taken apart head. He flicked the laser cutter on, and carefully cut through the plating, careful to not touch the mind with the laser.

While he was doing this, the knight known as 'Cherub' returned, and learned about what happened from the knight who was performing surgery on the wounded knight. Grael ignored this, but made note of the importance that seemed to cling to Cherub, he would have to do as others he'd seen and report to him, as he hadn't moved from his tent for a day or two. He shrugged mentally and returned to his work, it was far more interesting than thinking about talking to somebody.

He sheared away the remaining attachments and finally held the brain by itself. He turned it over in his hand, there was a connection point on the bottom that presumably fed commands to the body, part of the cord was still attached after being severed by his spur. He pulled it apart, and peered at the connection points, the pattern looked alien, which made sense, and Grael hoped he could figure out away to pull information out of it. Maybe if he could construct a converter so the mind could be hooked up to a computer. Cradling the processing unit, Grael stood up from his kneeling position and moved to his workbench in the tent.

If these wires are similar to the ones used in the auto-turrets...

Wounded

Cherub rushed to Den's side. "No! Not you too..." He felt a lump gather in his throat when he gazed at the boy's wounds. Everyone had overlooked Den; even Cherub didn't notice him until he moved.

He felt terrible. How could he face his men when he failed to be there in their hour of need? Ashamed of himself, he could think of nothing more but to call attention to Den's wounds and make himself scarce.

He surveyed the battlefield on his way to a dark corner. Mecha knights lay shredded on the grass, picked apart with their innards strewn about as surviving knights searched their bodies for anything useful. The sight of the lone dead knight made Cherub's stomach lurch, and he gave silent thanks when another knight covered him with shirts.

He curled up in a corner and picked up a string of grass. This world is a cruel one. A tormented Valkyrie, horribly slain knights, slow deaths...and we can't get off it. Somehow, we've got to make this place livable, or we'll all perish. And we won't accomplish that by killing everything. We cannot earn life with death.

He tossed the grass and stared up at the stars.

"So why aren't I more bothered?"

The turrets opened up and spewed out gouts of flame, but Ragnir ran around them, approached from the side, and then swung his hammer. Each turret, one by one, began to crumble beneath Ragnir's hammer.

"Commander Serah!" Ragnir ran forward, forward, forward. Up ahead, this had to be where she was, and where Aralon was.

Then a Gremlin approached from the side, and Ragnir braced his shield for the incoming hammer swing-

"Arrrgh!" Ragnir awoke with a start. "...Bah."

That was a dream. He was in the Rescue Camp, and he'd just fought a bunch of Mecha Knights, and now there were some mechanics walking around. Ragnir shrugged, rolled over, and went back to sleep. "...Hnnrrrgh..."

"Whew!" Rega looked up at the starpod. "I thought him waking up would spoil the surprise."

Enter Furor the Berserker

At one end of Rescue Camp, a dark silhouette was seen. It had a slight purple glow to it. It slowly approached the camp, uttering, "Light. I hope that they know a way around..." However, as it drew closer, the darkness faded to reveal itself...

Enter Furor the Berserker.

Clad in his imposing spiked red-and-black suit of armour and his giant blade in tow, Furor approached the Rescue Camp to see what the light was. His person was covered in scratches and even his blade had dulled out, as if he had a very rough time beforehand. He entered the boundaries of the camp, clearly exhausted as he put down his blade and was brought to his knees. He looked around the camp and was surprised as he witnessed a carnage, as well as the other knights. "Finally. I hope that this isn't too good to be true: Once more reunited with my comrades..." Although in his current state, Furor was glad to see familiar faces.

After a long battle, Skyla stood amongst the piles of dead and injured, Victorious.
But at what cost?
Skyla's prime directive was to prevent problems.
Being hit was a problem, that's for sure. But being hurt? Killed?
There's no way that could be shrugged off as not a problem.
Skyla tried to aid the wounded knights around her, but eventually gave up on most; Their life-force meters were nearly empty.
Wasted effort was a problem, too.
Skyla was pushed aside by doctors, for fear of trusting a robot to do precision work.
She walked off, to inspect the battle sprites in supply, broken or not, for Lyra.

Finally, after quite a while or at least that's how it felt, the Swordsmen finished the on field patch job. The Knight in question was going to need real medical attention as soon as possible of course but at least the work done would buy him some time. Looking back at Kora he nodded in appreciation.

"Just get him to a medical unit, they will know what to do."

Standing up, pouring the alcohol on his forearms and hands to remove the blood Amaria looked at the man.

I still have questions for him, but this is the best proof I have at the moment. It's still not enough to draw a conclusion but I can make a hypothesis.

Looking around the area he noticed something rather odd, these two seemed to be isolated, in the since that they had no direct help from any other unit. The enemy wasn't too thick either, this little squad as it stood, was attacked because it was low risk with a high success rate for causing death. At least that's what Amaria could gather. The robots weren't a threat to the enemy, but the two where, still having energy left thus the scream to weaken them, it seemed too perfect a move, but perhaps...

That was the point. Hit us and spread a little fear that this can happen again.

A unseen smile came to Amaria's face as he recalled the scream.

That was a desperation move, meaning the Valkyrie isn't going to show its face for at-least twenty-four hours or so till its voice comes back. Check, you winged....

Calling the standing OC Amaria relayed the information he just hypothesized.

Grael checked for the umpteenth time that everything was working. While trial and error worked great, he only had one Mecha-knight brain, and if it exploded, it would take a while to get another. He closed the panel on the converter and plugged the thing into the bottom of the head. Then he reached over to the wire sitting on his desk. The wire led to a computer which was alive with programs ready to interpret the information that the head would spit out.

Grael attached the wire to the converter and set the brain down on the table. He turned his attention to the computer and analyzed the data coming in. Maneuvering through the windows, he looked for some sort way to read data, or get a location. Anything...

Then a window popped up, a data file had been found! Grael checked that the data wasn't bugged, then opened it. Once he figured out a way to view it, a square popped up that was full of unintelligible shapes and other things flew around the screen. Panicking, Grael canceled the program and checked to make sure his computer did not get an alien super virus.

Okaaayyyy, no virus, but what in Isora was that?

Opening the file again, this time Grael looked for a pattern. Nothing looked familiar, was that a gear? The black and white shapes danced around the screen while Grael sat there puzzled. Apparently this was the data. How could he interpret such craziness. If only they had a native who knew their way around a computer.

It's like some sort of video game, none of the things collide, and everything seems to...

An idea popped into his head, maybe-no hopefully, the oddness on the screen might be a video feed, but his 'alien' computer couldn't interpret the feed correctly. Grael set to work formulating an interpreter.

If only everything here functioned like they did on Isora, but what am I talking about, there are crazy rumors that this planet is hallow!

Move it!

As Cherub listened to the message Amaria relayed to him, he felt an immediate sense of dread fall over him. If the reports are true that this valkyrie used the scream offensively, something tells me that she is not so averse to physical injury as would prevent multiple uses of the attack. She will come again, and soon.

"Amaria...I don't think we have 24 hours. We need to mobilize. Now."

He marched to the center of the camp clapping his hands. "All right, listen up people! That valkyrie is coming back, and we're not ready for that. Pack up your gear and be ready to move in thirty minutes. Amaria, you're in charge of medicine. Kora, hand over your medical gear to him and help Grael get cracking on that Mecha Knight data. Skyla! Where's Skyla? Somebody find her."

Just then, a knight clad in an intimidating set of spiked armor wandered into the camp. Without missing a beat, Cherub pointed at him and ordered, "You, new guy, help my medic prepare the wounded for relocation."

A scout returned and said, "Commander! There's something you have to see! It looks like a platform."
Platform? Like elevator platform? Out here? No way. Cherub followed the scout a short distance, and sure enough, it was as the scout described. A dirty gray metal grate separated a deep shaft from the surface, mounted on a mobile platform with a control panel in front of it.

'Looks like an elevator. Where does it go?"
The scout shrugged. "I took the elevator down, but it was pitch dark when I stepped off."
Cherub fished out a light and handed it to the scout. "Use this. Come back to me when you've had a good look around."
The scout saluted and left. Cherub returned to the camp and knelt beside Mundy again. He put his hand on the knight's forehead and murmured, "You're gonna be okay, buddy. We won't let that demon hurt you again."

"You know," Amaria said as he was stuffing the med-kit back together, "I am not a very good medical unit. I learned what I know on the field, for what little that did me."

The Swordsmen's voice sounded distant for a moment, holding that same level of inhuman tone while deadpan.

"That knight is dead. What's more it would make more since that the enemy isn't strong enough to take on a full squad considering its target here. Also on a side note, you know my background. It's written all over this armor, I would advice you to make use of this instead of just a medical unit."

With that said the Swordsmen picked up his weapon and started cleaning it, silently watching to see what the standing CO would do. Of course he didn't show the same regard a normal knight would, instead he gave him the same level of respect as some one on his own level to Cherub.

Cherub & Amaria

Cherub lightly squeezed Amaria's shoulder. "I know you're a fine soldier, Amaria. Probably the best of the bunch here. But you're also the only one with any real experience in battlefield medicine, however little that is. Even Kora is really new at it, and she's a way better geek unit anyway. I value your combat ability as much as the next person, but at this point, I value your medical experience even more. As commander, I have to make the best use of the resources I have. Can I count on you?"

Amaria looked at the man for a moment, his mind still contemplating the full situation that befell them. A mess of a camp, the idea that the enemy might just come back within the hour. "Affirmative!" Upon hearing

"Affirmative!" Upon hearing the order from Cherub, Furor got up to his feet. Although he seemed like he seen better days, he did not hesitate to carry out the order. The berserker had been paying attention the whole time, and so awaited the next order given. He slowly approached Amaria, recognising that the latter was placed in charge of medicine. Furor knelt down respectfully, ready to offer the necessary manpower.

Almost done tinkering

Grael looked up, hearing his name being mentioned. All he caught amounted to "...get cracking on that Mecha Knight data."

He was working on the data, that part was obvious so why did this Cherub person feel the need to tell him to keep working? Then he noticed Kora making her way towards his workbench and he filled in the details himself. Mentally he chided himself for always being out of the loop, but he justified it by shrugging and remembering that being out of the loop was a second nature.

He turned his attention back to the computer screen and started talking as soon as Kora reached the workbench.

"I removed the brain of the Mecha Knight from the head and I fashioned a converter so our computers could connect to the information that the Mecha Knight might hide. However when I connected the Mecha Knight, a load of unfamiliar symbols and language appeared, and the one visual piece of data I could find makes about zero sense, buuuuut the visuals seem to match up with what logically seems to be a camera that might have been mounted on the head of the Mecha Knight."

An idea popped into Grael's head. He straightened up and glanced at Kora.

"I just got an idea, you can check out the data and see what you can figure out, I'm going to go find some Mecha Knight optic lens."

More stuff!

Cherub raised an eyebrow. "English please, Amaria. Anyway, get Den some medical attention soon. I'll start packing."

Kora, meanwhile, stood by Grael's mecha knight and folded her arms. She had to admit, the guy had skill; pulling the innermost parts of an enemy weapon system without damaging them was the work of a professional. After a moment, she nodded and replied to Grael, "Sure thing. Just a minute while I set up." She pulled her laptop out of her bag, snapped on an array of adapters, and wired in the mecha brain. Her fingers danced over the keyboard for a minute or two and produced a working video.

While the video certainly relayed intriguing visuals, she was more interested in the data. It didn't match up; while the mecha knight's construction was clearly crude, the coding behind it was the work of a genius. The author even left a veritable novel of comments describing the function of each section in great detail - in the Common language. Much of the code referred to technologies that were barely in the minds of Isora's leading scientists when they left. Bio-mechanical cells, high-efficiency energy conversion systems, and even artificial neural networks were just a few of the incredible features powered by this code.

It had to be a copy of something considerably more advanced.
There was no other explanation.

Then she turned her attentions to the video feed. Most of it contained either notable events or recent events, which Kora realized mimicked the way human memory worked. Much of the feed was dedicated to the last battle wherein the mecha knight ended its run. It began with a march from a mechanical elevator. A gremlin led the way, occasionally barking commands. The mecha knights fanned out around the camp and awaited the signal, which turned out to be a dull tone. They attacked at the tone, and to Kora's surprise, the mecha knights began to communicate with each other, albeit in unintelligible text. That ended when the feed went black. The sound was still present, however - Kora had to turn the volume down for the scream. The Mecha knight switched to night vision just moments before it tumbled to the ground after being slashed. The feed ended with Grael cutting the eye from the socket, but not before a pile of pleas and curses invaded the corresponding data log.

"Grael..." she mumbled,

"...destroy this thing."

b-but my tinkering!

Grael returned with the lens to see Kora translate the video. That was quick? How did-" His train of thought trailed off and he focused on the video, sped up slightly so it took less than half a day. At the end of it, Kora muttered something that Grael did not expect.

"Grael..." she mumbled, "...destroy this thing."

His first response was reactionary, "What? Why?"

The Mecha-Knight head showed some information about what happened, and Grael did not see any reason to destroy a piece of technology that could hold important information.

"This brain could hold information, we just need to get to it, there's no reason to destroy it."

Standing up and walking away in silence, the same way he always did after given an order. Of course this time it wasn't about taken life, instead it was about keeping one alive.

This is new, normally I am on the end of a blade cutting down people. Here I am now on the end of a scaple saving them. What have the times turned into.

As the Swordsmen walked he kept in mind his mission, get this 'Den' person back on his feet, in a manner of speaking. It didn't take long to find him, considering his relative location from the epicenter of events. kneeling down Amaria removed the man's helm and started checking his plus. Sure enough he was alive, clearly having injury and needing assistance.

Reaching into his bag Amaria pulled out what looked like a small sack with an even smaller, mash covered, opening. Waving it back and forth under the mans nose he waited.

"Ammonia, could wake the dead with this stuff."

Den's face twitched and he rolled over, away from Amaria, inadvertently placing weight onto his arm.

"GAH!" Den shuddered in agony.

"Good, still alive." The Swordsmen's voice, deadpan as ever.

Rolling the knight on his back Amaria looked him over. Of course for the knight, waking up seeing an Iron Wolf might not be the most welcome sight considering their rather, crimson, history. Still Amaira payed it little mind as he went to work starting a basic on field exam.

That arm might be broke, or bad injury, going to go with broke though.

Slowly the Swordsmen reached behind his back, the knight having limited vision of what was on his back save for the end of the Red Saber's Sheath, might have had a different interpretation of what the Iron Wolf was about to do.

"It will all be over soon."

A Wolver's Purpose

Tears leaked down Den's face, unbidden. A soft, weak moan seemed to perpetually escape his lips. When his eyes cracked open, his lips curled up slightly, twitching.

"C-Cool," he breathed. Even when the weapon hovered over his face, he didn't mind. He couldn't feel his arms.

Pulling out a wad of medical wrapping, bandages, and what looked like one of the Syrette's the Swordsmen gave an unsneen smile.

"No rest for the wicked, well for you anyway."

Injected the syrette into the mans harm Amaria went to work doing what might have felt painful if not for the pain killer in his system. Pacing one arm on his Den's shoulder and his right on the knights wrist he pilled till he heard a popping noise. Sure it might have looked like he was ripping the arm out of socket but really he was realigning the bones.

"Good news, this one isn't broken. Bad news, its going to hurt bad when the medication wares off."

Going to the other side the Swordsmen pilled Den's limb once more but instead of pulling it all the way he lifted it up and inspected it's full rotation.

This one is broken, upper arm is damaged but still mobile. The problem is, I don't have a splint...wait a moment.

Turning on the commlink to the main channel hoping his target was listening.

"Is the mechanic around? I need some help with a down knights suite. I need to lock an arm to make a makeshift splint, over."

Ho ho. Den knew he should have screamed, or done something, really, but a haze enveloped his mind. Whether it was whatever Amaria had injected into him, morphine - who knows what - or the pain itself, Den cared not.

He was dimly aware that he was in pain, had been in pain, but at that moment, he was too broken to care.

Mechanic? Sure.

Grael turned his attention away from the head and to the knight wanting a mechanic. A splint? I can do that quickly enough.

He turned on his channel and sent his acknowledgement, "On it, give me a minute."

Turning back to Kora he gave her a doubtful look, "I'm not destroying it, if you want it destroyed, then do it yourself, I think it's too valuable to destroy."

He left the bench and looked around, settling on yet another fallen Mecha-Knight. Grael approached it and looked at the arms, the shield arm was skeletal and made sense, seeing as it usually held a shield. He could use it but the sword-arm made a much better candidate. Specifically the armored parted could be used if he made some modifications. He took out his laser cutter and went to work, carving out a rounded piece that could fit the sections of an arm. Nothing complicated in the crafting of a splint so Grael had the splint finished in very little time.

The splint had two main parts, aligning with the armor plating of the red Construct arm. The parts detached into two different pieces in case whoever needed the splint only needed it for one part of their arm. It had two straps on each part which could tighten or loosen easily.

Grael checked it once more to see if it was stable and, satisfied, made his way to where the injured knight lay.

"Here, you might find this useful."

Looking over the makeshift splint the Iron Wolf gave a small sigh, he needed the armor locked but this was just as good if not slightly better given the circumstances.

"When I get this one, give me a hand getting this guy to his feet. I am going to be using a mixture of dextran and what little protines I have to get some blood back into his system. He took a heavy hit and from the looks of it broke his arm."

Reaching down Amaria went to work binding the mans broken forearm tightly so it wouldn't move, followed by an IV he hung from the Knights chest. Making sure the line was cut short so that it didn't pool some where in the tubing. Once it was injected into the mans arm the splint was attached and the arm hoisted into it.

"Alright, hold him steady."

Placing the mans good arm around his neck he started lifting, waiting for the mechanic to get behind giving support for the wounded Knight.

Grael moved behind the injured Knight and grabbed a chunk of armor and heaved upwards.

"Did the Valkyrie injure him?"

"Unknown, currently its best to assume he took what I would deem as minimal injury considering. He might be slightly deaf, disoriented, and in shock judging from the lack of reaction to pain."

Walking the wounded knight slowly back to the center where Churb was last located he looked over at the knight.

"Work on getting some intel on the robots. Weakness, data problems, maybe a link back to the source. If possible to it silently."

With that said Amaria went on his way, no more needed to be said by the Iron Wolf as he knew his words would be carried out by a gear head.

OOC:
Well, look who it is, crawling out of the darkness, cobalt gear in hand and limping from the injuries that Payday 2 left me with.
Yeah, it's me, Topo. To anyone know who knew me or still knows me..... I've changed.
I'm not here for attention. I need something that can take me away from the misery in life. I want to rejoin some RPs, something that can give me the nostalgic feeling when I was kid. Yes. I'm applying.

To Thinslayer:
Thin. I'm back. And... well. It's been a long time since we've talked. I haven't talked to Elt in a long time. Do you still remember my email? I would like to re-establish lost contact with some friends. And well, I got some things I need advice with.

OOC: Hey! Long time no see! Just FYI, we have a dedicated OOC threat that I still pay attention to. ;)
Anyway. This'll be a good excuse to keep Clockwork Heroes going. I can't say I remember your email, but you've been on my mind lately, so you can rest assured you were never forgotten. I think Elt would be happy to see you. Chat us up when you get a chance.

IC: Cherub winced. "All right, we really need to get moving. Is there some way to transport Den in his current state?"
__________

Kora drew her blade and smashed it into the robot brain. Sparks flew. Satisfied, she closed up her systems, packed them, and took position behind Cherub. "Ready when you are, commander."
Cherub nodded. "Grael, you ready? We can grab that intel later."

Tinkering for later

Grael saluted, "Just about, I gotta grab my computer and pack, be right there."

He moved forward and grabbed a few things on the desk and then turned and left to another part of the camp where he kept his pack and gizmos he'd tinkered with on his spare time. He grabbed his pack and scooped up a dozen gizmos and dropped them in the bag. Then he grabbed his multi-tool and strapped that on to the side of the pack. A couple Health Capsules and Remedy pills later, Grael felt ready to leave. However, he paused, looking at his pile of gizmos lying scattered around after he grabbed the ones he felt the most attached to.

Well, maybe I can fit some more gizmos

Cobalt had been wondering the surface for a while, now. He had orders to find a camp, and help out around the place as much as he could. Truth be told, he wasn't expecting some sort of battlefield. Dropping down from the overhang where he had spotted the 'Camp', he raced through the grassy plains, his small bag hitting his back every so often to remind him his mission was to help people, not fight whatever the hell caused this. He slowed to a stop as he reached the entrance and allowed himself some rest, before yelling "IS ANYONE HERE?" at the top of his lungs.

Why in the f-heck am I yelling for? Whoever... WHATEVER caused this could still be here.

Cobalt nervously reached for his Antigua and took it out of its respective holster, holding it in front of him as he entered the camp.

Coming to where the current Commissioned Officer was Amaria stopped dead when he heard the yell.

Sounds friendly, better check it out.

Setting down the wounded Den, Amaria pulled his blade from it's holder as he looked in the direction of the scream.

"I will be back."

Holding his blade behind him, the curve arching across his back as he bolted off, he wanted to make sure that whoever it was, was indeed friendly. Coming to a stop behind one of the tents the Swordsmen slowed his breathing steading himself. His movements becoming quiet, eaching movement was done so to reduce his noise level to near zero on the decibel system. Staying to the corners and shadows he caught sight of the yeller.

Looks friendly, could be an enemy in one of our fallen's armor...

Turning off his electronics's to levels that all but the most outfitted of recon wouldn't detect Amaria made sure to leave on the commlink, but in silent mode. Changing his spot he gave a small chatter via burst wave trasmission to the knight to mask where he was currently located.

"Name, rank, status."

His inhuman voice may have come off as a bit strange, but for the most part his lack of emotion in his speech might have been a clue to what kinda unit the Swordsmen was.

"Speak now, or leave."

"Cobalt. Knight-Elite. I was sent here to find a camp. Looks like I was a bit too late in finding this place. Status: Not dead." His eyes went from hiding place to hiding place, to try and find the source of the voice. Wherever his eyes went, his pistol followed.

"May I ask whom I'm speaking to?"

Cherub gestured to Amaria and Furor. "Those two are my medics. They can help you. Wait, where's?...oh, there he is. Sorry. That's Amaria over there, accosting the newcomer. He's an Iron Wolf, so while his skills are usually put to better use on the field, we have a dearth of medics, and he's the best we've got in that department. Do your best not to annoy him, please."

Cherub patted Wolf on the shoulder and continued assisting the other knights pack.

Sorry for Inactivity.

Skyla, unable to find any battle-sprites, then decided to go for the next best thing- one of the mecha-knights that assaulted the rescue camp.
There were several that still had working parts, but only one with data intact; The one that was off limits, being investigated by the researcher.
Lyra would have to wait a while.
In her head, Skyla worked out the schematics for Lyra's body. . . Done.
Looking over the MechaKnights she marked for parts, Skyla realizes that she won't be able to get all the parts until she explores the world and it's strange resources.
Such as... Oh, what's this...?
Skyla picked up a small shard of Moonstone. The crystal had an interesting glow to it, unlike that of normal properties.
Returning to the main part of the camp (Where most people were [player characters] at), Skyla sits down next to a tent, and starts lazering in a code to the crystal, as a note for what parts would be needed for Lyra.
The code was a simple one used for basic programming, back in Isora. Those who spent a lot of time working on Battle Sprites or the Terminals would be able to understand the notes on the crystal.

"Go to the center of the encampment, some one will see you there."

As silently as he had come, the Swordsmen left making his way back to the center of camp, weapon still drawn.

He was sent here...the means he was part of another squad or group. If that's the case then Cherub better prob him for information, or at the very least find out where he has been hiding from all this.

Slowly he came back to the center of the camp where he found the current CO, with a nod Amaria retired back to his rock. Reaching up he tapped the side of his helm, as he did it slowly split from the mouth to the tip of the ear. Not taking it off, instead leaving it ajar he pulled out his flask and unscrewed the top. The Swordsmen didn't drink, but the smell was strong unmistakably alcohol by the fumes, it was in this state his mind started doing laps. Mentally reviewing all the information he was given and had taken in.

What is going to happen next, only time will tell. You would have made a joke of this Cedric...

Cobalt sighed, and holstered his weapon.

"Didn't really answer my question, ominous voice." He made his way through the camp, taking mental note of the casualties on both sides. He felt like he should have been here for the fight that had obviously occurred, but he was out there fighting something himself. He looked around for the leader, but didn't dare to move too far from the center of the camp in risk of raising suspicions.

This place really got beat up... This must have been where the scream came from.

Feeling the toll of his travel, he sighed once again and sat down, taking off his bag and releasing the lock on his shield.
