So, while everyone else is probably searching for danger rooms, I wanted to bring attention to the Save Winterfest mission.

I did a little math over in this suggestion I made, and came to the conclusion that with the addition of the blue winterfest wish tokens, that the time required to acquire items has increased pretty heavily.

If you were to do poorly on the Save Winterfest mission this year, and average about 20 tokens each run, it would take you about 16.66 hours to get a winterfest scarf. If you were to do well and get 50 tokens each run, it would take you 6.66 hours.

Compare this to previous Winterfests, where it would take you 4.16 hours at best or 8.33 hours at a moderate pace, and you can see that the time required to get a single 4,000 token item has gone up in time investment. Whereas before you could sit down for a long stretch of time with randoms and Save Winterfest, and come out with a scarf on top, now you need to set aside almost the entire day if you want to do it with randoms, or more than 25% of your day if you have guildies that load fast and are wonderfully efficient.

This also affects how fast you can get frosty prize boxes, although you will get them in batches of 4 now rather than 3. Haven't done the math on how long you would have to farm for one system to surpass the other, but if any of you want to that's cool.

Thoughts on the new timeframe of farming? It seems like getting scarves is dedicated to lockdown during the rest of the year instead of the event that is actively happening right now.

I want a Candy Striped Scarf. After I get the frozen papers box thing, I'm going all in for that Scarf!

Err

Sorry to break it to you, but the frozen papers only can get you frosty and winterfest presents, snowballs, and winter confetti. If you wanted the candy striped scarf, you'd need to spend the 16.66 hour grind to get one.

That's sort of the whole issue here, you either need to spend most of a day just to get one item, or spend several days/weeks of unreliable PvP throughout the whole year and save up 650 krogmos, when in the past you'd just take a day or two of sorta grinding.

Just want to say, you can earn krogmo coins really quickly. Krogmo Coin boosters are 300 E for a day. If you're willing to spend 1800 E to get 6 active at once, an afternoon can easily get you 1000+ tokens. Also, because it adds a fixed value to the number of tokens earned, and doesn't tie it to winning or losing, LD goes from unreliable to quite reliable. You can be one of those guys who walks around with no weapons, doesn't matter because you'll still walk away with a boat-load of coins.

That said, I do agree that it'd be nicer if scarves were easier to get. So that's why I'm spending most of this promo going after what truly matters: SNOWBALLS!

^that math is embarrassingly

^that math is embarrassingly terrible

7.5 coins because 7 if lose, 8 if win, averaging.

1000 krogmo coins/(7.5 coins per game)*10 minutes per game/60mins per hour = 22 hours

Apparently this guy thinks there are 22 hours in an afternoon

Eh

Main point of the thread is to point out that the 4000 token items are heavily affected by the new wish being added. Krogmo coins take the same amount of time investment as before, and naturally are slower due to its timing.

When the overall time it takes to get an item, new or old, is double what it was the year before, that's a problem. Thing is this doesn't just affect the scarves, it affects the frosty prize boxes too, meaning all rewards take longer to farm, making the grind feel even more like a grind and not like something that you're celebrating the boxes with.

If the time was increase from 4 hours to 6 hours per scarf, that'd be fine. But the fact that, for most players, it's going from 8.33 to 16.66 hours... That's just a huge kick in the teeth.

Some surprise that is....

Thanks, OOO, you're (probably unintentionally) extending our grind for event items in an event with a rather short time frame. As well as the fact that not every player is able to play during said short time frame due to what holiday the event is based on.

@Traevelliath

You realize that if you spend 1800E on farming for krogmos, You could have just bought a scarf in the first place...

Yes sometimes I'm quite dumb. There are many things in this world that I regret, that post is becoming one of them.

Wanted to bring attention back to the save winterfest farming issue again. Not having as much time to farm this year means scarves are kind of out of the question, but it's also so we can potentially have it taken care of, thus making Save Winterfest! a fun prestige mission rather than a grindy one.

Also, the fact that you lose tokens if presents are delivered when there's still tokens on the ground is quite unpleasant. It slows down parties since you have to pick up your tokens before delivering, and it's strange and unintuitive, making it seem like it's unintended.

Of course, neither this or the divided token colors would be as bad if the tokens just didn't expire at the end of the event..

WHY Do they Expire!?

I gotta say, with the general Holiday busy work (buying gifts, seeing family, making cards) I have even less time to put towards this game. And the sheer amount of grinding this holiday event requires is just not Nice!

I've played the event mission close to 8 times and I'm up to about 120 of the respective tokens. Seeing that a single loot box (a RANDOM drop mind you) costs 400 is really disheartening. Luckily I was able to gather ~500 of the blue tokens while running clockwork levels, (Because playing the same mission over and over and over and over and over again just isn't fun) and I could try my luck with at least ONE loot box this holiday event season. I can't say I'm very interested in continuing to try for those tokens since they'll just disappear in another week and I probably won't have a chance to use them for anything useful.

If they ever do this again, I'd say tokens should be automatically collected when the boxes are delivered just like when you beat a boss. The tokens go straight to your inventory. Then players aren't wasting time running around the pile of boxes and waiting for each other to deliver boxes.

Additionally, Please take a book from Overwatch on this one and give each player a single free seasonal box the first time they log in during an event? Not only would it make everyone happy, but it would possibly increase traffic at least a little bit if less frequent players got emails or saw posts on facebook about free stuff.
