Two Accounts Open On One Computer At The Same Time? (not really dual or multiboxing)

Ok, so I don't know what the actual solid definition is for Dual or Multiboxing, but basically I am against keystrokes being copied to another account.
In other worlds, I don't want one of my accounts to be doing everything my other account is doing. I want to be able to use them both separately, but simultaneously.

I know there is a lot of rumor this is cheating or illegal, but it's not. Especially if you're not connecting the keystrokes to both accounts.

I do want to level up both accounts and I feel like it'd be easier if my Vanguard could help my noob account and I know this sounds fishy, because of all of the gold digging that goes on in this kind of play, but I used to do this on other games. I'd simply click on the ap twice and two tabs would open. No software, just the game allowed that to happen. This isn't working for Spiral Knights.

How do I do this? I simply want to simultaneously open up two tabs.

Could you explain a little bit more?

Are these two different knights on the same account, or two different accounts completely? Also, are you using Steam, playing from the launcher, Kongregate, etc.?

I know for a fact that the way Steam is designed, it's impossible to have two instances of the game running because the Steam launcher itself will just present you with the error "this app is already running," or something along those lines.

It could also just be the fact that the game developers have taken this into account and added a countermeasure so you couldn't do it, but I'm not sure.

I made a different account separate from steam. They're two separate accounts.

I don't know about Steam, but you can do it if you have "regular" accounts, through the web site www.spiralknights.com. Through the site, you can play from your web browser or download the stand-alone client. And in fact you can do both at the same time on one computer. For example, I used to have two of my knights meet in Haven to trade masses of items, that would have taken a lots of time and crowns to trade by sending mail. Maybe you can work out something similar.

Whether you SHOULD be running two knights at a time is a separate matter. You have your opinions on what constitutes cheating, but Three Rings has theirs. For example, before the loot-grabbing mechanic was changed, some players used to drag another knight dead through Firestorm Citadel, to double their profits. You don't consider that cheating, but I do, and Three Rings might (I don't remember).

Edit: I did a little Google searching of ancient forum posts. It seems that Three Rings might not consider dead-alt-dragging illegal.

There was this guy who posted about his adventures playing a Bomber and a Gunner by himself at the same time.
It may be more technical than what you're looking for though.

Klipik listed the Terms of Service section about Restrictions, and it doesn't say anything particular about multi-boxing.

I agree with Hexzyle (from this same thread)
"However, the main thing you don't want to do is use some sort of computer assisted control scheme, like broadcasting one key press to more than one client, having a key press do more than just a single mapped action (macros) or having a character under automated control (botting)"

It's still ok as of 2013.

The GMs don't like to say it's ok since they don't like it, but they won't ban for it.

Since the Steam shortcut is just a Steam URL (namely, steam://rungameid/99900), it'll just try to run it through Steam again and that's not what you want.

You can either download a copy of the non-steam client to use with your alt, or if you have Java installed on your system, make a new shortcut to run
javaw -jar getdown-pro.jar
and have it start up in your sk directory. (You might need to put the exact pathname to java or getdown-pro.jar)
