IM SO HAPPY about the april 6 patch@!!?!!?! my hope is returned!!!!! fingers crossed!

i don't know if this is ok but heres a more detailed version i did in the past about what it meant for some of us back then

http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/100418

many don't think its a big deal, but MOST of my guild and many others dissolved when they took this out of the game because of how radically it altered the co op (now its all but nonexistant)

BUT YEAH! i wonder if theres ANY CHANCE IN HELL (however unlikely) bringing heart res back might be on the table (ive seen it mentioned a few times here and there but nothing SOLID) in my opinion it was the heart of vanilla Spiral Knights Co-op and it MADE it some of the best, most unique/ fun team work infused scenarios that i feel along with item sharing, would return something that was lost a while back which almost left the game feeling like four people playing alone at the same time/place as 3 others :/ i dunno it took out a LOT of the interaction that was fun at the core and made group dynamics /tactics a team function.

i just miss the days of 4 strangers becoming fast friends after perhaps a long/ intense clockworks run or some double or triple arenas in the deep ^^- learning how the group chemistry worked/ each players strengths weakness, etc. it was a different (and again, IMO better time :p)

even if NOT, im still so very glad to see that perhaps SK is heading back to the Rails to get on track.

downloading now, see you guys in Grey Heaven i suppose

SENTENZA ALERT!

"Downloading now, see you guys in Grey Havens I suppose."
That is what the content fix on the last sentenza. And do you even know what a heart res is? EDIT: Sentenza is Italian for "sentence" or "judgement." It is also a 5-star handgun that is the cousin of Obsidian Carbine.

Responding and stuff

Resurecting by giving health gives a better feeling to the game, but it would somewhat break the current spark system. Would still like to see it brought back! ^^

+1 no it won't break sparks

@Nizada
it won't break the spark system, they have all sorts of bonuses for reviving using a spark of life. the stun and knockback, the invulnerability, and healing you to FULL health and not half of what the other person had. sparks are a last ditch (kinda) after you and your teamates have fallen. health revives only work if you're all alive. sparks work no matter what.

@Shadow-Drake
True! Forget what I said. Health restoration is much better than emergency revive! ^^

Spark System would still be Welcome

nah it doesn't have to effect the spark system at all, IN FACT- i personally would feel much better about buying and using/ spending earned resources for sparks. when i got to the point where i needed to spend one (either because someone dies too much and no one wants to share HP OR when a group wipes, someone would still NEED a spark) it would be THAT much more of a big deal, a spark after a wipe would not be taken for granted.

i dunno, i just enjoyed the intense end game/ arena co op game play scenarios that occurred when Heart res was around (see a LONG post i did way back when if you want a more/over detailed opinion on it being the soul of the games unique co op) http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/100418

@Monsterbrine ? yes i know what heart res is...? just because im (RE) downloading the game doesn't mean its my first time playing it. though i thought that was made apparent by the fact that my post is about Vanilla SK, and the gameplay mechanics which, in my opinion at least made it shine.

Good and bad

There's a good and bad side to everything. Health revives had a bit of both, but people got really attached to the system. Back in the days of mist, we needed health revives due to the limited play thing. It forced you to group up and tackle the clockworks with others, else you limited play was limited further if you lagged into a fire trap.

Now while this isn't entirely a bad thing, it made bad players affect the entire team. Since you had to group up with players, it made for really bad scenarios if your party leader was the weak link, and then kicked anyone who wouldn't revive them immediately. This wasn't common, but it certainly happened.

The current system in place does something different. It says "YOU have to do better to support your team - if you can't carry yourself then your team shouldn't have to carry you". This is a good thing as it makes players have to get better at the game, or find another playstyle that they can use to continue. However, this turns parties into "individuals working for one goal" rather than "a squad of knights conquering the clockworks". The latter really appealed to people.

As such, my carbon copy suggestion is the give us a rarity that acts as an emergency revive that can only be used on other players, and in the way that old health revives were activated. This would not affect you personally, as you aren't giving up your revives for someone else's failures (since you can't use them), and it doesn't hurt the team overall as health isn't being split between a good player and (potentially) a bad player. In order to revive players you have to be able to walk over to them and attack over their body.
Biggest change with this system would be sparks of life would drop less, however having revives be less sacred and more teamworky would be super nice.
