Is it pronounced "fang-el" or "fan-gel", been wondering for years...
Fangel

yes, i'm very fun at parties
Sorry Fangel for calling you "fang-el" in my mind this whole time. What does "Fanelisan" mean though is it your name?
if you look closely it's pronounced " " since nobody in the SK universe seems to have a voice
I find it humorous that I'm almost always away from the forums for a few days when people decide to start a conversation about me. I only know about these things because people tell me about 'em.
The "Fanelisan" bit is based off of a mythical world I've been building since I was 8 or so. Originally it started with the character "Fangel" (which was originally spelled "fangle", due to me not being gewd wit werds back in third grade), which kind of looked like a modified kirby with a mouth on a stalk on their head. Here's some doodles I made as practice after one of my adjustments to how I drew the Fangel.
"Fanelisa" is the continent on which this species resides. I made this little piece about 4 years ago as a bit of concept art and to try out some new art stuff. I may go back and complete more of these since I made about 3 of them in drawings and it might be fun to take on these again with my newer more painty artstyle!
(this being said i've always dreamed of creating a game within this world that implements all the fun of a single player open world RPG game but with the added ability of being able to fly like, everywhere. opening up the z axis just seems like a huge jump towards a new era of open world RPGs that just isn't touched upon. if you know the right people pls send them my way)
Yeah. It is humorous how this post is about you, Fangel, even if some people are trying to pronounce it.
Question, though...
What art creation program did you use to make your artwork, Photoshop, Affinity Photo, or Clip Studio Paint(Pro or EX)? If you've used Photoshop before Affinity Photo and Affinity Design existed, I'm sure the art you made from it is neat.
Really don't like Photoshop's subscription model, though, but, we have Affinity Photo, the best Photoshop alternative ever made yet, and yes, I do mean how people can pay for it for one price and never have to subscribe to it with free updates done all the time. Wish Affinity Photo and Design would have sub view windows added.
If you've not heard of Affinity Photo, give it a try. You'll like how it's a vary far more affordable alternative to Photoshop. People have been using it to create concept art to their games, too.
& if you've not heard of Clip Studio Paint yet, too, let me be honest... Awesome art creation program! Though it lacks plenty in brushes, which is understandable & very easily remedied, it's still able to make amazing art, & it does hand-drawn frame-by-frame animations, just like how many animation studios that does hand-drawn animation do, both past & present, no commonplace Flash-based animation tools & techniques included at all, like, motion tweening, rigging, & so on(honestly, just not real animation when it comes to doing it on TV & movies, 'cause it really takes away the fluidity and the complete naturalism of hand-drawn animation, complete with recycling separate individual fragments to characters & using very little created frames, even new ones). That program's workflow is very amazing and easy to grasp with practice.
It's quite an amazing and powerful program to create professional quality animation to projects comparable to many TV shows & movies, just like how many movies & TV shows featuring said hand-drawn animation have before, & still do to this day. All you need to do that in said program, should you be interested, is to have a graphics tablet, likely a drawing monitor.
Give Clip Studio Paint a try, if you'd like. EX's price is not too costly, but, there's sales time to time, so, when the next sale occurs, the best chance to snag it appears.
Nevertheless, whatever projects you may come up with will look neat.
Sorry that my post is long. I had to get this outta my mind and let anyone in the SK community know what's up.
I quite literally use paint.net, and make things like this, this, and this. That final one is my current desktop background because I edited a contest entry I made for it because I really liked it.
While it may not be the most "quality", it has a nice feeling to it. The painty artstyle is one I've fallen in love with - every single one of those pictures was made exclusively with the brush tool in paint.net.
I'm more a designer than anything, but dabbling a bit in things lets me better get said designs out into the world.
Wow cool its fangle awesome neat so good fannngggleleeee
Oh. Well... if you're opted to try Affinity Photo and Clip Studio Paint one day, you're welcome to do it. I gotta tell you, Affinity Photo's far more affordable than Photoshop, 'cause the program's one-time price is worth buying. https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/photo/
Who'd want to spend money outta their wallet to use programs with a subscription pricing model, especially when it goes to all of Adobe's programs beyond Photoshop? Made a lotta people complain. Better off buying non-subscribed alternatives to them.
And, Clip Studio Paint EX's workflow in traditional animation's really amazing once you get the hang of it. http://www.clipstudio.net/en
There's Affinity Design for your kinda niche. The price is the same like Affinity Photo's. Just heavily for creating vector graphics. Pretty amazing, too. https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/
You'd be amazed with what designs you could do with those programs when you tap into, and unleash, the potential they hold. Anyone could, even those in the SK community.
Just placed the links to 'em, in case you're wondering what they are. Go take a look.
For my needs, I don't really need anything all that flashy to work with - trying to use the small but limited tools in paint.net still has me able to do everything I need.
I'd sooner invest in a proper drawing tablet than a new image editing software. Currently I just use my mouse over paper drawings (if I need a base) so something that changes my workflow or process would be more viable than simply changing how I do the same thing anyways.
If I see a need for stronger image editing software I may look into more things (video editing was something I wanted to try out more, and so when I bought sony movie studio a while back it really turned my videos into something other than just footage).
There are plenty of drawing tablets out there, Fangel, with & without screens. Many are pricey, others, not so much.
OK, It's just that with more stronger computer hardware rolling out throughout the quick years, more & more programs are performing far more better than ever than past hardware, & that, in turn, broadens a lotta people to making more content than ever, even remotely.
Well, I'm sure whatever drawing tablet you find is worth buying.
Which version of Sony Movie Studio was it? If you mean that, I think it was Vegas Movie Studio. Sure it's neat, but their editions are pricey. I think HitFilm Pro's less pricey than before. It recently got updated to 7.1., so you know. https://hitfilm.com/hitfilm-pro
People use that with Vegas to create numerous effects to their projects, so, if you're into it one day, you could try HitFilm Express & buy Pro later. Just suggesting.
I'm a hobbyist so I'm not really after the best end-all software. After buying unity pro a few years back and doing nothing with it I've kind of learned my lesson with throwing money around for professional software unless I can't do what I want to do with my current options. Sony Movie Studio 13 is the one I'm on. It's a lesser Vegas option that's only around like $70 or so I believe, rather than Vegas Pro being somewhere like $600 (nooo thanks). If you want a look into what I have been doing (and what I'm pretty happy with making) you can take a gander at this SK related playlist of mine.
Tablet needs to be something where I want it for a few reasons. If I get more into game design projects that require non-paper doodles, I may go after something, but I know I'll be able to find what I want without a bazillion suggestions.
Can't remember where but I believe Fangel said it has to do with the word "angel" so it'd be pronounced FANgel (as in angel).
