Seems that as of now, Grey Havens is focusing on creating new promos to keep making money. Which is not a bad thing. However, if you're not releasing content at the same time, you're going to lose players over time. Players also want old promotions to come back, because they never had a chance to get the items they wanted. The solution is simple. All you have to do is bring back an old promo without any additions to it. And you'll keep making money, those players will be happy. This will give you a month to work on whatever content update you may be planning. Its a win-win situation for both Grey Havens and the player base.
Re-release old promotions and focus on creating new content.
I own a vast majority of the rare items and want for everyone else to also have access to them, though in the case of mixmaster/orbitgun balance issues would need addressing. They're way too powerful for how much effort they require.
I also want more content and promos. Mostly more content but also more promos and no, re-releasing old promos wouldn't appease me much. I'm already bored with the promos we have because they're just art assets. I want like a new level. Doesn't have to be all new, just rearranged. KAIZO'd if you will. And I'd like a large fries+shake to go with that. Yes, chocolate will be fine, thank you.
Of course Fehzor... As long as you got mixer it doesn't matter if others get it. That applies to the MSI trinket too I suppose.
Ahm, they are already doing that, in case you didn't notice they re-released the summer promo with recolored accessories/costumes and already reskinned gear. I'm hoping for a mixer next.
Of course Fehzor... As long as you got mixer it doesn't matter if others get it. That applies to the MSI trinket too I suppose.
I literally just wrote that I want other people to have nice things too..
though in the case of mixmaster/orbitgun balance issues would need addressing. They're way too powerful for how much effort they require.
IDK, I felt like this sentence meant something else, would you clarify? I also remember you suggesting a terrible suggestion about the MSI trinket making it still unobtainable for the less wealthy players and controlled by only whales who have a ton of money already. That's just how I'm seeing your suggestions TBH, sorry if I misunderstand.
I don't understand your confusion, and you are coming across as awfully passive-aggressive. That quote means exactly what it looks like it means, there is no other way to interpret it. Mixmaster/Orbitgun are both grossly overpowered and buggy, however fixing them is currently not a priority due to their rarity - very few people will experience them first hand. If they were to be released to everybody, everyone would have access to a stupidly overpowered weapon. Stupidly overpowered weapons are not good for this game. Spiral Knights already has its fair share of balancing problems, no need to make the game even easier for everybody.
Also why completely ignore his statement about his "want for everyone else to also have access to them" twice.

Where Fehzor again says he wants everyone to have access to something currently unreasonably expensive, then offers a suggestion that makes an incredibly rare piece of equipment much less rare and much less expensive and at the same time gives zee cores (a very easy to find material) a boost in price. Good for the economy, good for the developers, better for F2P/low spending players - all in all, a fairly reasonable suggestion for something that was meant to be incredibly rare in the first place.
Firstly, ok, thanks for clarifying the mixer situation, although I don't see it as that overpowered, but that's just my opinion. Regarding the msi trinket suggestion... again, this is by no means fair, all the rich kids would be able to control the economy with this suggestion while not as wealthy knights would struggle just as much, and no, zee core prices won't skyrocket, keep in mind that they're still pretty common and fairly easy to farm. Also yeah he wants people to have other rare items which is good but I don't see him wanting to have the msi trinket more common than it is among people who have a fortune of less than 50k energy. Back to the mixer, I actually thought he meant about its value declining which would indeed be unfortunate to the players who spent a lot of money to buy it as rostock once said in a thread complaining about bringing orbitgun back, but that would be for the greater good, imagine how many people would return to farm and heat just to feel a mixer style gun in their hands. Some people who have taken a break for a year or two would come back just so they can feel it. However you clarified that he didn't mean that but the mechanics and the stats so that's out of the way now.
Going to the suggestion in question, it does not take one month to create a single promotion. Game companies are not one person working on a game, it is a team of people who each play a specific role, no matter how indie it may be. Grey Havens is no different, and so a game designer can work on designing new levels, artists can work on creating new art assets, programmers will be working on fixing bugs and figuring out other pieces, etc. When designing a new level, there's a lot of thought that goes into that that isn't as simple as "reach into hat, pull out design, create it in a few hours".
Promotions are a way for a game like Spiral Knights to keep making money while working on other gameplay elements. Since Grey Havens took over, many changes were made behind-the-scenes on libraries and other transferring of old items. These are not player-facing, and so while it seems like they may just be doing a little bit, there is two years of work put into this game, despite it not being new and playable levels.
So no, re-releasing old promotions for the sake of "focusing on other game content" is not the solution. We did this with the reskin sets for quite some time, and those got very bland. The current promos are much fresher and interesting, but do not take a month to create.
We will be seeing more game-content in the future once it is ready. If you have any ideas what you think the game content would be I would be super interested in hearing it because I hear complaints about the game far more often than I hear solutions that are specific and have substance outside of "i want something more".
Lots of people have suggested this over the years, yet it has never happened. While there is a large portion of players who would love to see several prize boxes return, such as the Confection Prize box, there are a good number of people who would not. These people are ones who currently have the rare items such as the Mixmaster because they spent massive amounts of time and/or money to get it, or these people think that the items were meant to be a limited time thing and for that reason they bought into it. With a re-release of limited time boxes, it wouldn't be fair to the people spending massive amounts of time and/or money as their items have suddenly tanked in price - massively. Others who bought into a "limited time promotion" would also be unhappy as their rare items suddenly don't give them any sort of "status" for having them. Merchants who had these limited items will see their stock suddenly drop millions of crowns, and that isn't great for the economy of the game, either.
The problem with making this select group of people unhappy is that Spiral Knights isn't a very populated game, and the playerbase is made up mostly of Vanguards or long time players who have played and supported the game since its inception. The people GH would be angering with re-releases are their core playerbase - the people who have spent lots of money supporting the game.
I don't own any of these rare items - yes I would love to have them, but I don't think it is in GH's best interests to anger/screw over the primary playerbase that buys into their promotions in the first place. It is for that reason that we have not seen re-releases, I'm sure.
