Mixmaster/Orbitgun: Making this class of guns accessible to more players
Good Afternoon,
I think we can agree that the mixmaster's design of returning projectiles is gorgeous and definitely deserves to be enjoyed by players.
The tradition of spiral knights has always been to have rare re-skins and other appearance based items available from prize boxes only, while the grinder players could get the standard looking ones ingame. I ask for that to be applied to the mixmaster class of guns as well. I think GH should create a 5 star addition to the alchemer line that allows you to have a gun that has identical projectile behavior to the Mixmaster. Currently it is the only weapon class that's prize box only with no grinder equivalent available, and it also happens to be a very powerful weapon.
Implications
I dont think it is going to even marginally affect the amount of prize boxes purchased; the current equinox box season has just concluded and it is the only opportunity for more of this weapon class to be added to circulation. Those buying the boxes will do so regardless for the multitude of other lovely goodies they contain. The weapon is so rare that it will make little difference to box loot quality.
I do think that the game will experience a short period of activity increase because everyone will get back into grinding for it. Its by no means going to get 4000 people online but, it should be fun return to grinding even for the players who currently own every other weapon. In fact, it may be even more of a rare treat for them.
I understand that creating such a weapon will cause a shift in the trading cost of either orbitguns and mixmaster guns, from astronomical to somewhat pricy for the unique skin. Sure, I think it will be disappointing to the guys who decided to invest heavily into the gun. But I think that's better than having it be accessible to less than 1% of the playing community. You could ask the question why does it exist; if so few players are using it?
Perhaps we should have the following route. Prismatech Alchemer> PA MK2> Prisma driver > ('Cyclone Blaster'/Nova Driver/Nogg Blaster)
One way to retain the exclusivity enjoyed by orbitgun and mixmaster variants is that we have the same base damage for the 'Cyclone blaster', but it doesn't inflict a status effect like orbitgun and mixmaster variants do. Similar the the Celestial Saber vs Leviathan Blade.
I welcome feedback from our community

That's good, but it's still not enough. This is an F2P which means that we should be able to get any non-cosmetic item without having to pay real money, that doesn't only apply to the Mixmaster or the Orbitgun but also the Celestial Vortex and Shield as well as the Power Mitt and Teddy Bear Buckler and the MSI trinket too. The cosmetics should stay at their current place, they're still in demand even more than gear for most of this game's veterans.
Some of the people who paid a lot for these items will indeed be mad, but a lot of them on the other hand would like to see the game more alive with this little change, they already have the stats and codes 'n stuff all what's needed now is to make somewhat stale models for each of these items, to still not match the reskins but should still be good-looking enough and should perform exactly the same.
Do you have any idea how much people would come back to the game when they release this "new" content? It's just a little effort but it's gonna be so worth it for the devs, the game and the players.

Those handguns are awesome but they cause massive lag, I wish there's a way to decrease the lag they cause...
Maybe a craftable gun similar to mixer would do, but it should only do normal dmg, and the number of projectiles are decreased/shot.
I think you guys are stating good ideas overall; i only disagree that this change will decrease Gh's income. I think their income will actually increase because of some reasons stated by @Zero-chill.
I wonder if we could somehow get a gm or dev to hear about our suggestion.

Every gun unboxed nets them a good 100-200 boxes worth in cash- that's literally like fine hundred to a thousand dollars... Not to mention this hurts paying players, who are the biggest thing keeping this game alive. As much as we'd all like to see a free mixer it really isn't in their best interest when it comes to money.
If anything they should start releasing more box only weapons. Capitalism isn't fun, is it?

First of all, Fehzor, even when we have them available, the skins would still be worth a ton, also these things aren't the only things people seek in these boxes, there are also some rare accessories and triple variant tickets. Having their value decrease would benefit the game by making more people come back and buy them so the game will be more active, thus clearing the way for more paying players so that they could enjoy the game as well. And releasing more box-exclusive weapons would only make the game P2W and less people will want to play. The main reason I like this game is that you can get anything with a fair amount of grinding and having box-exclusive weapons is completely against that.

Naw, people come back temporarily and leave the ones that stay are already here staying. If you look at the steam charts for player activity that's pretty clear.

I think with a few changes like a couple more weapons and a new level or two people would stick around for more than just a couple weeks. Also keep in mind that we are talking about the most wanted weapon in the game, literally everyone in this game wants to at least try it, if it became more common all these people would be satisfied and will probably stick around for more time.

Yes, I want more players to have access to the mixmaster style of weapon. Preferably, it would be a craftable upgrade at the sanctuary alchemy machine upgraded from a blazing pulsar or a gigawatt pulsar.
No, I don't think mixmaster style weapons in their current condition should be accessible to each and every player. I believe they should be reworked first, and I've gone over this in pretty great detail in this old suggestion of mine.
I perused @fangel's suggestion and the details of his previous discussion, and I think it pretty much hits the bullseye.
I don't really want to open the can of worms related to balance and nerfing etc. However, I think that his ideas can certainly be applied to the new craftable weapon.
Even if it didn't retroactively apply to the mixmaster and orbitgun, that's probably fine. Probably even better... because it will give those guns some added exclusivity desired by their owners.

As an orbitgun owner, if that modified version comes out I will use it more often. Mixer styled weapons right now are sadly very unreliable, to the point where if you're trying to run though a level really fast you will want a mixer for combat, and literally any other style of gun to hit switches because lord knows the mixer won't be hitting it.
Besides, mixer being a skin is still sought after. It wouldn't be as expensive, but spiral soakers were another high value weapon, and they're simply a reskin.
This obviously needs to happen, but I'm guessing some people who already own the gun dont want to share their toy lol.
