I've been bouncing around Spiral Knights discord servers promoting a petition to restore Cyber Monday back to its former glory prior to 2024. I usually don't post this sort of stuff in forums since discord is a lot more useful for that sort of thing. However having a discussion on it and possibly a few more eyes on it here would be beneficial. In hindsight this approach probably should of been done a year ago but better late than never! Bringing Back Cyber Monday
@Fallen Feces It most likely brings in more revenue to have people buying E and bidding on auctions rather than having a fixed price in supply depot.
I like how it bothers the very few people that an item stays on the Depot for longer than 30 minutes now.
@Thats-Rough-Buddy more revenue for who exactly? Because I sure can't wait for more x999 energy trade walls to happen.
The revenue will only flow in with people desperate enough to fight against those who already have their full pockets by, and this will shock you, not spending money on Energy.
@Streetdragon
The revenue would go to Grey Havens, who need to pay server and development costs. If a certain decision makes more money, that is the route they will take as a healthy business.
If people with "full pockets" upsets you, then I'd suggest focusing on your own pockets instead. Then you could win some silly auction like a snarb pet for 52mil crowns.
If this leads to more updates and patches like what we are getting recently, then let the money rain.
I like the new change... until stuff wasn't being depotted anymore (LOOKING AT YOU STUN VIAL BANDOLIER)
Reverting back to the singular day event might sound like a nice idea but when has staying up for 24hrs for disappointment every 15-30m ever been something to look forward to? Not me for the past 3-4 Cyber Mondays (on the old cycle).
Why do you lads prefer the singular day instead? I'd love to know
The 2024 Cyber Monday change was overwhelmingly taken badly last year. https://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/124775 a reminder.
90% Featured Auctions for Cyber Monday is terrible, i don't think anyone disagrees on that and if that's the format we shouldn't even a have Cyber Monday it cuts out bargain deals and any sense of excitement.
Lets also not forget they already do depot sales through out the year, they just did more this year and not for the reasons we were told either. Has no one noticed the depots stopped as soon as the first new box came out? I think it was just changed to give us the players content until they could cook the new boxes up.
I said before and I'll say it again they've done flash sales on and off even with the "classic" cyber monday layout and I certainly see no reason they can't do this again.
Convenience and rewarding dedication, these are the two sides as I see it because yes some people can't dedicate 24 hours but its really not hard to get items off people. You could argue checking Spiral Knights every day for 365 days for sales is even more inconvenient.
I like the fun Spiral Knights Cyber Monday Tradition, I take the day off from work and have a wonderful time with friends all day on Spiral Knights enjoying the surprise in the sales, memeing the bad ones, throwing community events; it worked fine for years and their is a easy way to balance it.
I'd posted this forum with the discord posts, I don't think a lot of eyes are on this(or if we did the petition a year ago).
I think a mixture of the new and old Cyber Monday would be a somewhat nice idea.
Instead of FA being the only place for desired items, have the depot also have desired items but have the sales spread out over a month or so after Cyber Monday. Staying up for 24 hours is not healthy cos waiting every 15-30m for disappointment has been a thing since Cyber Monday began so....
I personally think spreading out a lot of the things for sale over the course of a week or something was actually a pretty decent idea. The only part of the new system I really take issue with is how many of the things people would ACTUALLY want that aren't usually available only go up as featured auctions where only 1 person can eventually buy it. It really defeats the purpose of this whole system imo.
