Not sure if serious! If serious, the thread was not the impetus for the changes. They were already on the radar before the thread was ever posted.

I guess its too late....

So, I lost a few days of SK to my DSL connection getting fried by lightning - at the end of a shock arena, irony - and then waiting for a few days for AT&T to fix it. This whole thing is a dead issue now, but I'd like to put my 2 cents in anyway.

I am basically waiting for new content (WFC). I try and log in each day to use my ME, and keep my hand in. I usually choose a T3 tower and solo until I run out of ME. Some days, this is over quick. Some days, I end up with leftovers and waste the ME on haze bombs.

There WAS a way to do a T3 fire slime danger room. I'm not saying it worked every time :)

1. You have to have pills.

2. You have to have a LOT of fire resistance (me, Vog set with a extra UV fire med on one piece).

3. You have to accept taking constant damage. In fact, you want to be taking constant damage, because each time you get hit it means you cannot be interrupted for long enough to swing.

4. Basically, you have to kill them first, see?

I did this a few times using a vortex (t-ball bomb !) and a GF. Sometimes, it failed. I made it twice - and remember both times. Win or lose, soloing danger rooms is one of the few things that gets my heart going left in this game.

The vortex buys you some initial control and cleans some of the pack. You will get hurt in the process, but I will trade getting hit twice for killing enough enemies at the same time. It is really only possible to charge at the start of each wave - and even that is a point of failure.

My technique for this is I get each wave down to one oiler and then whip out the hail driver. (!!! If you are soloing without a hail driver, that may be your first mistake. !!!) I use shield bump, run away, and single fire it until I get a freeze result. I use this time to heal, collect whatever there is to be collected, and get the vortex charged AND let all the existing oil and fire fade! I try to time this so the unfreeze damage kills the last slime. That failing, you can drop the bomb, and finish it yourself, and hope you still get a good pull on the bomb. (Note - this basic concept applies to any time you need to control a wave transition outside of some ice rooms.)

The other technique I can offer is in how you allow yourself to take damage. Basically, if you are surrounded by oilers and fire, you want the fire to hit you, making you invulnerable for a second, allowing you the time to swing, bump, and run. Fire will kill you, but it does not interrupt lock you - like the oilers will. (Note - This technique is useful in other forms as well - like if you have a lot of piercing (like a skolver/barb shield max damage set) and no fire res and have to choose jumping on some spikes or getting hit by fire ... like in a t2 arena you have been looping long enough that you no longer have a shield ... so you can run up on the puppy while invulnerable ... or something like that.)

For those of you who get the reference, it is a "Minmatar Defense" approach. Basically, that means if you do enough DPS it is a form of defense.

I am kinda sad this update happened. I would have enjoyed wasting CE getting a victory on video... seems like a fun challenge. Finding the right danger room in T3 would have been the annoying part. Park an alt outside the danger room ... not so bad.

We need more public challenges. It would provide something to do for all us WFC players.

@Copper

Minmatar has defence? Since when? I thought they just flew fast and made nice explosions. Caldari and Gallente, now, THERE'S two things to be scared of.

Sounds more like Nick was too chicken to go through with it...

Man I just went into T2 the first time since they lowered the difficulty. God this game is so ridiculously easy now, I am disappointed.

Ian McConville's taste in beverages notwithstanding, if you like super-hard games, there are better choices than a semi-casual F2P like spiral knights. I for one am actually having fun playing it. Besides, there's t3, and eventually they'll get done with the core and that will probably be even harder.

I don't understand what you mean Jooozek. Could you rephrase or elaborate?

Well, I was serious, but I wasn't seriously looking for a response. Thanks anyway for the clarification ;) (even if I know for sure that it was this awesome thread hehe :D)
