@DirtThe idea Marthicus was

@Dirt

The idea Marthicus was talking about is specifically to get people to play the levels before Basil so they can buy recipes. He is saying to allow us to say that we WANT to go to Basil, and thus it should ignore all parties which are too far down for Basil to sell to us if we join them.

Current system, it puts you in the party with open space closest to the top of the tier you select. If that means they are in the middle of fighting Vanaduke because that is the ONLY party with open space... then you join mid-Vanaduke battle!

With an option like this, the party system would see you want to shop at Basil, so ignore every party which is closer than 2 levels from him (I think that was the rule, right?). So if that Vanaduke party is the only group available, it sends you to the top of the tier and lets you lead an empty party and wait for other random joiners.

So it isn't a change in the intent of the rules, it is just a better implementation of them.

TL;DR I skimmed through a lot

TL;DR I skimmed through a lot of the discussion.

If I may so point out, this doesn't really seem like a necessary argument to have

It more seems like a way for this Selvester3 fellow to "advertise" his wares to the people on the forum board without having to advertise directly in the bazaar.

In essence, he's winning either way right now, even if your argument against his set-up is valid.

BINGO WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

wow all those replys and your the only one who gets it.. MARKETING MARKETING the secret to real world success simply... =) now so may people know and my network is large enough that I can lock parties at terminal and simple pull from the list.. but like I said all of your input has been of great help.. now can someone help me devise a system where I can make ce work for itself in that it will keep market prices down so low that even new players can have fun instead of mastering the /sit command.. I thought this game was about adventuring into the clockworks.. most players spend most of the time waiting on energy... or trying to rule the stock market..

Boss stages are locked from all joiners, including invites.

Joiners can only be placed into dungeon stages a within a short time period after they begin.

If all open parties are already past the "joinable time" or in boss stages, you simply get the "No party available, would you like to start your own?" message.

This joinable-time restriction does not apply to subtowns and clockwork terminals.

That's why the player queue can get stuck on a "standing around at Basil" party, resulting in a lot of solo parties splitting off that never get filled out.
-- because they're only eligible for a minute or two at a time, they are spawned every time someone joins the Basil party, and the Basil party itself is hogging players. It's stagnating the matchmaking pool.

don't understand what other think

just reading this thread, and i'm one of the peoples that support what selvester3 do. i do feel it benefit me though, i think it was a great idea, i ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS try to avoid the floor before basils. whenever i hit a join party group, it really a roll up dice for me, that the jackpot win is if i joined a party that already arrived at basil floor. if i want a recipe, i just ask someone at the party who's able to buy, to buy it for me from basil, then i buy it from them. done. i always give an extra 1k as a compensation and no one ever complain.

why i want to avoid all floor before basil? all the floor before basil has low crown drop and heat. so it's a waste of ce for me. and as far as i know, join random party never send you to join a party that was already past basil floor. except if you're invited. at least that's what i experienced. i never found myself joining a party after basil floor. it's always before or right at basil.

so if you really want to do the floor before basils, (which i don't understand why) why bother pick join random party? just create own party, and other player will join you too eventually.

if someone complains what selvester3 do, i too assume they don't know we can just go solo (just click our name and the option will appear). but maybe different people have different preferences i think.

i do a quick read and someone tells about the queue party system in previous post, i don't know the fact though, since most of the time i didn't wait for my party to refilled full, i just go solo and continue on and my guildies quickly joined me Xp
but i do have a simple solution and suggestion to selvester3 though for this queue party issue, to anticipate this queue system, instead of locking your party and wait for 5 minutes, why don't YOU (selvester3) are the one that Go Solo after your party was full, or if someone on your party want to move on. this way, your new blank party will go on in second line after the party that you leaves.

i do this before, i arrived at basil, didn't have enough crown for the recipe that i want, so i need to log in my other account to transfer some crown. it takes some time, my parties want to move on quick. so i just go solo, they continue on. not long after that, my party filled up again within a minute. they want to move on too, so i just go solo again so they can continue on. this way, no one complains, and everybody happy. it's a win-win situation then :D
