Nobody will craft anything anymore if this is implemented as suggested. Energy gates are a currently a complete waste, though, so something should definitely be done about that.
A new item to put behind energy doors: equipment treasure chests
how about they drop rare mats and/or recipes.
Change star rating potentials, box pop rates, box rewards, and CE costs to unlock as follows:
005 En: In strata 1, zero-to-one equipment boxes hold one 0* item
010 En: In strata 2, one equipment box holds one 0* item or 1* recipe
025 En: In strata 3, zero-to-one equipment boxes hold one 0* item or one 1* or 2* recipe
050 En: In strata 4, one equipment box holds one 0* or 1* item, or one 2* or 3* recipe
100 En: In strata 5, zero-to-one equipment boxes hold one 1* or 2* item, or one 3* or 4* recipe
200 En: In strata 6, one equipment box holds one 2* or 3* item, or one 4*, or 5* recipe
Maybe I'm ramping up the Energy costs a bit much here? But it seems like it has to get high at the later strata or you risk devaluing CE.
Actually, throwing in equipment OR recipes in the box sounds like a good idea, and yeah, you can modify the cost of the energy doors to make it more of a gamble. But the idea is that you should be the feel that there might be something very valuable behind that energy door.
There should be a guaranteed rare drop in those, tokens, mats, trinkets, something.
I don't think there should be too awesome items behind those gates, but I agree that there should be better prizes. I usually open it, cause it's just 3 energy, but I often don't get much from it. Sometimes, there's only a little heat and nothing else. Even just a gold coin or a token would make it a lot more attractive.
@Vermilicious: Currently you're throwing your energy out the window if you open the gates. If you do the math you'll find it wouldn't even be worth it if the gates were one energy.
Recipes and rare materials seem like a good idea. Yokai's suggestion seems good as well.
Agreed, right now all energy doors apart from danger rooms are a terrible scam. Needs to be something that makes them better.
