monsters do everything at about a 80% decrease of their speed.
That means, less mobility (easy attacks)
less attack frequency(less damage)
more attack warning time (the colour that shines under their feet when they attack)
even though people say it only lasts about four seconds. so what? it gets constantly renewed if the bomb is on the ground. It's basically even better than a shivermist.
Here's something most people didnt know. If the Jelly king is stunned while he turns pink and invincible, He will NOT MOVE an inch. he doesnt even spin.
this greatly increases your survivability and allows you to get ready for when he becomes mortal again.
people should stop underestimating the heze bombs
Its actually incredibly useful.
Haze+Veiler+Shiverlock+a gunner will provide vanna with no chance of winning.
It will also make Devilites a lot easier to deal with - which is what most bombers need.
exactly my point.
And i quote from some other incredibly intelligent being,
"shivermist will defrost if you so much as breathe on it, yet you can combo stun with anything. Even shivermist itself!". -some guy
honestly, even if you freeze monsters they can
1attack at full speed (e.g. A million devilites frozen facing different directions)
2.turn around and smack you the moment you smack them(e.g. Mecha knights)
3. Have their shield up immediately as soon as you attack them. (trojans)
I'm not trying to say "lolol haze>freeze anyday ftw". No. Infact i own a shivermist myself.
I'm just trying to say that people should stop underappreciating the stun status effect. People only look down on it because it lasts so short. But it's only short when dealt on the players and not towards the monsters.
Being the fifth best bomb in the game means that it will never be used.
I carry stun vials when there aren't anything better to carry, but when it comes down to it, slots are limited and I choose the best things (vials or equipment) that I can to make a complete setup. So far, nothing you have said convinces me that I would be better off pushing something else out of my set up to make room for a stun bomb.
you just opened up a new point for me.
I would assume that everyone has been stunned by a lumber at least once.
How long does it last? 2 seconds. Now you ask yourself. Why would i get something that lasts a seconds over something that completely stops mobility or does DoT?
That's because it does not actually last 2 seconds on the bomb!
No one is giving it a chance.
people are scared by the story that the bomb will only last 2 seconds and not be as useful.
And yes i would also like to agree that other vials are much more important than stun.
this reinforces the fact that no one is giving the stun status a chance to prove itself.
"never judge a book by its cover"-some old dude
Stun Vials have a strong knockback component. If you're surronded and getting pummeled, just pull out a Stun Vial. The next hit will knock it out of your hands onto the floor, where it will splash onto all the monsters beating you down... launching them back a good ways and also preventing them from walking back to you (they're stunned now, remember). Stun Vials are the perfect escape button, especially when solo.
No comment on the Haze Bomb here... I always wondered about it but never got around to trying one. It's worth noting, however, that Stun and Freeze are the only two status effects that work on Phantoms.
If you grabbed that from the thread about the Haze Bomb changes from before the patch, then that was me. :)
Now, not to say that Stun > Freeze, but there are a few reasons why you might want one over the other. Everyone knows why Freeze is good, but why use Stun? Well, rather than repeat myself, yet again I might add, here, go read this:

And yeah, I thought stun vials were worthless pieces of junk too, until someone pointed out the massive knockback they do. Right now, I prefer carrying them to Poison vials. Unless I'm very specifically keeping a slot for poison for JK, Stun are actually way more useful to me. Not more useful than Fire, Freeze and Shock mind, but if you're in a Fire, Freeze or Shock strata the corresponding status vial is useless anyway.
care to post a vid of you doing vana with that combo (if you havne't already)
sounds interesting.
I suspect that Stun bombs will be useful for the average player, but since they provide no DPS, the top players will still eschew them in favor of a damage-dealing weapon. The only reason stun was underused previously was that there was no way to mass-inflict the effect. Now that we have one, it's only a matter of time before people discover its usefulness.

I suspect the opposite, actually. The majority of players will go "Pshaw! It does no damage..." and continue using AoA and SMB 'til the cows come home. Or at least until they meet that one guy who actually knows his stuff and brings a Stagger Storm to a Frost themed Strata and totally trivializes an arena with it.
And as people keep pointing out, Fire and Stun play nice with each other. The vapor from the 5* status bombs persists for a pretty long time, so you could quite happily alternate them and keep a large group of enemies Stunned and on Fire for as long as it takes for them to die. Assuming you don't just grab a bombing buddy and split the responsibility. (And you can just use the Shock bomb on fire-themed enemies for a similar effect.)
As much as I love stun, and was always hoping for a level 5 haze bomb. I can solo everything in the game just fine without any crowd control. So in the end, sadly, I don't think I'll ever bring one along. The only thought I have is that I might use it for groups that are a little under par for the stratum, so they die less often.
It should still be good for average players as the one poster said, or people just learning harder fights.
I would say for me I'd rank it a little higher than Shivermist, but with 4 slots I still will load an Ash of Agni for most things, or no bombs at all.
Stun is pretty useful but I never use them in clockworks because it just too weak.I only got two wep slots so haze bomb is basically a big no no.
not a lot of people know to throw stun vials at JK while spinning
but i still wouldn't bring a haze bomb anywhere :P its just not as useful as another bomb.
