I've heard that the Snarble Barb can do anything the Magnus can but a little better. On the other hand, the Magnus is obviously a gun and i don't really want 2 swords unless the Snarble Barb is really that great. Thanks
Magnus or Snarble Barb??
This really lacks context. How many weapons slots do you use ? What are your others weapons ?
Seeing that a piercing weapon is mainly used against Wolvers and devilities, I would recommend a Snarble Barb to deal with that (I am biased here, I love Snarble Barb line).
But if you only use 2 slots and already have a Calibur line sword, you'll probably want a multi-purpose gun. And I doubt that would be a Magnus.
Edit : removed the dodge bullet to avoid confusion, thanks raton15
@Fradow when its a magnus the "dodge bullets" no exist.
really both are awsome, but i vote for the Snarble Barb if your wield Wolver set.
i use 2 weapon slots and have the shockburst brandish and pepperbox(which i want to get rid of)
why not get both? I have both (don't use them at the same time of course) and individually, they're pretty awesome. If you get an elemental or shadow gun, along with your shockburst and the two piercing weapons, you'll pretty much be set to go for any situation. Snarble barb takes out devilites and wolvers real easily, but the magnus often locks enemies (usually wolvers) into repeatedly cancelling their attacks. it takes some time to get used to the snarble barb's attack pattern as compared to a brandish (I use a nightblade as well). If you're really only set on getting one, I'd go for the magnus seeing that you've already got a sword and its better than your current gun. Normally I'd say some warning about how the magnus makes you stop to shoot, but frankly, its better than the autogun line's shooting methods.
I'm a pure gunner with 4 weapon slots, and Magnus is the least loved of my weapons. While it has its uses, I honestly would never recommend it (or the Autogun line) as the only gun in an arsenal (barring FSC perhaps). The pure piercing guns are just not versatile enough to fulfil the only ranged slot. If you're wanting a weapon to deal specifically with Devilites and Wolver, you'd be better off with the Snarble Barb line. If you want a versatile gun, get the Blaster line. Blaster is the sole reason I have 4 slots, rather than 3 to get access to all 3 damage types. It's just that good =P
"I've heard that the Snarble Barb can do anything the Magnus can but a little better."
so the snarble barb can hit far away monsters with regular shots and quick bullets? but a little better
and it can stun the monsters? but a little better
well..i dont know who says that, but at least MY snarby sword cant do that
I've replaced my well used piercing callahan (5* magnus line) with a piercing dark briar barrage bomb (5* spine cone line). With only a few exceptions, everywhere that I used to use my callahan, I find the dbb better.
Here is a link to a bunch of videos using the dbb. Even the 4* version worked great against T3 wolvers. I have not been able to match the stellar results vs T3 devilites that those videos show, but I've come close. I can match the results vs zombies that the videos show, but I find my polaris to be more effective. My results vs gremlins is also slightly less than those videos show, but it is still very effective. The dbb is the most effective weapon I know of for arenas/danger rooms filled with gremlin bombers. The dbb is also great vs trojans, very quick, very safe.
after seeing that video i think im going to go the bomb route. I believe i have the 2* spine cone right now because i mistakenly bought it instead of the bristling buckler.
I love the magnus, my other weapon is a blizzbrand which does split elemental so it's the perfect complement. If you can hit a wolver ojn the first with a magnus then the recovery time is more than the reload so you can just blast it til it dies. I haven't tried the snarble barb much but keep in mind the magnus can cause stun.
